Too Many Problems

Not Worth the Money – Disappointing Stay at Grand Bavaro Princess I stayed at Grand Bavaro Princess in Punta Cana and was genuinely disappointed with the overall experience. Cons far outweighed any positives. The main pool was dirty, and it was clear that drink cups weren’t properly washed — I had lipstick marks left on several cups, which is extremely unhygienic. The food was repetitive and lacked variety — same dishes every day with very limited options. The beach, while having white  [... read more]sand, was often covered in seaweed, and there were days when no one came to clean it at all, which made it unusable. In the room, the AC never got cold, and despite raising the issue with staff, it was never fixed. The fridge didn’t cool drinks, the shower head was falling from the ceiling, and we never received a TV remote, even after asking multiple times. The resort shuttle was unreliable, always overcrowded with long waits (usually 10 minutes or more), and getting around the resort became frustrating. On top of that, staff were constantly pushy about selling products or upgrades, even when we politely declined multiple times. One of the most unacceptable parts of our stay was experiencing racist behavior on five separate occasions, which staff either laughed off or ignored completely. That alone made the trip uncomfortable and disheartening. The only positives were that the resort felt safe, and the white sand beach (when clean) was beautiful — but that’s about it. Overall, I would not recommend this resort. Poor service, lack of cleanliness, repeated disrespect, and overall neglect made this vacation memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Grand Bavaro Princess Punta Cana

Excellent hotel and overall resort experience! We were there in 2014, before it was renovated, and they did a really good job. Then only thing that was better before was food, which was exceptional and now is somewhat in line with any other hotel of the same rang.

Great resort!

This was my first time being at a resort, and I must say, I picked a good one! The grounds and landscape of this resort was one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen, and the rooms were all newly renovated, with stand alone tubs, huge showers, and two sinks. The balcony was very big and the whole room was modern looking. Now onto the food… most people say that you don’t go to a resort for the food, but I was proven wrong. Specifically the Italian pizza, Italian pasta, and teppanyaki, were all fancy style top quality restaurants I’d see at home. The pool was big with a swim up bar, beach was great with comfy chairs and white sand, and the staff was amazing!

Love love love

This is our third timing staying at this resort and we absolutely love it. The beach was spectacular as well as staff was very friendly always eager to help , the food was ok certainly not bad just repetitive. when we first got there we were told our room was on the third floor we wanted bottom floor and they accommodated us no problem.

Mostly "grand" vacation

Bus transport from the airport: I would NOT recommend - pay for the taxi. Our driver was reckless & aggressive which made for a very scary drive to the resort. Check in/out: Quick & easy, we asked for a room close to the beach and Christopher did a wonderful job making that happen. Room: We were in the main section of the resort; we did not upgrade. We were in building number 32. Our room was beautiful, and the maid service was impeccable. Our fridge was also stocked daily. One complaint is there is no way to latch the door in your room from the inside - no chain slide etc. (we had a friend travelling alone and she placed the Do No Disturb sign up and was taking a shower, the man restocking her fridge ignored the sign and entered - she had to holler at him asking him to come back later - this is why an interior latch is very much appreciated) On one of the days, we had already received both maid service and our fridge restock, we had been back to our room and upon leaving we put the do not disturb sign on our door. We headed back to the beach and realized we had forgotten something, when we returned there was someone banging on our door, when we asked what he was looking for and explained it was our room, he ignored us and walked away talking on his radio. It was very odd & suspicious. The beach: GORGEOUS!! The beach is beyond beautiful, and staff work hard making sure sargassum/seaweed is cleaned every morning. The only negative about the beach are the amount of cigarette buts people are leaving there - they were everywhere around the chairs & palapas. Pool: We did not utilize the pool. Food: The food was really good, the small buffet close to the beach had a more limited selection but was super convenient for both breakfast & lunch. The larger buffet did have a larger selection. a la carte: We booked 3 a la carte's during our 7 days, the first was El Gaucho, the steakhouse which is a buffet during the day. We are steak lovers. It was ok. Our order was partially cold, and the meat overcooked, even after asking for medium-rare. Our second was Focaccia - pizza/italian. It was good, but not great. Our third was Il Tartufo - this is HIGHLY recommended! It was amazing. We sat on the deck overlooking the water display. The food was so good, for our main dish we ordered the beef tenderloin, and it was amazing and full of flavor! You could cut it with a butter knife (which is all they have throughout the resort) OH and the tiramisu is absolutely divine!! Service was mostly excellent throughout the resort. Maytte in the main buffet was our most memorable, she was amazing and always greeted me with a smile & a hug. She was very attentive and refilled our water and wine glasses regularly. Milagros was also very attentive. Cappuccino coffee shop: Amazing! Be sure to visit! The coffee and treats are absolutely wonderful. They also have a beautiful white, long-legged bird that frequents the cafe and is apparently not opposed to a croissant treat. Cafe del mar: This is an amazing quieter area on the beach away from the main section. They also have amazing coffee, drinks and sheltered seating on the beach. Peacocks: Be prepared and maybe bring ear plugs. There are peacocks everywhere. The last few days of our trip we had one outside our room and the provided a few unwanted very early (5-5:30 AM) wake up calls. They are beautiful, but very noisy. On our second last day, my partner became ill with a gastro issue and spent the last full day stuck in our room. (The evening before, wait staff were seen pouring wine from glasses back into a bottle - went looking when they hadn't returned to provide drinks and were found drinking at a table themselves.) We also discovered that the "single use" plastic drinking glasses are also being taken from tables, the beach and garbage cans and being rinsed in water and reused. This is likely contributing to the number of people who are getting gastrointestinal issues. We also had a leak in our ceiling in the toilet room. Staff were quick to come stop the leak but also left a big mess of drywall type dust everywhere. I also became ill almost immediately after returning home. We heard others on the resort stating they had the same issue, but we also spoke with other travelers at the airport who stayed at different resorts, and they had the same issue.

Average Resort - Grand Bavaro Princess

In general, our stay was enjoyable. That was mostly due to having visited the resort the year previous so we knew what to expect and how to find the things that were most enjoyable for us. Unfortunately, however, there were some issues. We had an important sewer pipe leak just outside our room resulting in a flooding of the general area with contaminated and repulsive smelling raw sewer. Thankfully, the winds were moving away from our room so the affect was at least limited by that. The hot [... read more]el staff were quick to respond to the problem and they had it mostly repaired within a day. The a la carte restaurants had nothing to offer to our taste. We were aware of that from the previous visit. We used the buffets exclusively. The food there was predictably good and predictably poor: Good: chicken, pastas, breads, pork ham, pizza. Poor: beef, lamb, deep-fried fish all of which was mostly inedible. Pools were nice, especially the quiet pool. Ocean was what it always is - cool and refreshing. Beach well cleaned and the locals selling goods were not overly pesky. Overall, we have had worse stays (in Cuba mainly), but we certainly have had better also.

Wonderful resort

I have stayed here numerous times... the beach is excellent, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was fine, the pools are nice....I don't really have anything negative to say except the fridge in the room did not work well and noise can be an issue if your room is close to the main lobby entertainment area. These resorts are generally all pretty nice so I think a lot depends on what factors are most important to you.

Beautiful resort

Larger resort split by a mangrove into platinum and regular suites (3 floors of 4 suites). Platinum section is close to beach. Must use a golf cart train to move around from beach to main lobby areas. Many top notch restaurants but best for us was Italian and East Indian. Many peacocks wandering around, who can be loud. Platinum plan is worth it!

Lovely Resort But Very Big!

With more than a thousand rooms/suites this is a very larger resort, however it's not a cause for concern as we were well-served by everyone. Our deluxe king bungalow suite was clean, pleasant and spacious; not very far from the large pool and the beach. (unit 0923) The nicest room we have ever had!! The beach was large and was well situated but could use more lounge chairs as they were hard to come by. The pool could be a little cleaner as it was packed with children and babies (some with  [... read more]no diapers). Lounge chairs were available if you got there early. The buffet near the beach (breakfast and lunch) was quite good and plentiful. It became an a la cart steakhouse at dinner (ate there twice and it wasn't very good). We tried the Mexican one night and it was fair so we stuck with the buffet. The beer served was Presidente on tap and isn't the best but was drinkable. The cleaning staff attended to our room and the mini bar was stocked with water, Coke and a couple cans of Presidente beer. The bar/lounge in the main building was a great place to have a drink and listen to some live music and to play cards in. The grounds are immaculate and the shuttle train made the large grounds less of an issue. There's some evening entertainment in the theatre and we took in a Michael Jackson tribute show which was quite good. The wait staff everywhere was excellent as was the bell staff. There was always plenty of hot water to take a shower and lots of clean towels in our suite. All in all we were very pleased with the resort, but wouldn't return as we prefer adult only resorts. If you have kids give this one some thought.

Amazing Hotel for our Anniversary

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Grand Bavaro Princess for the second consecutive year, and it was an unforgettable experience. We stayed in the Platinum section, which offered exceptional amenities and personalized service. The resort's grounds are beautifully maintained, with lush vegetation and a serene atmosphere. The food was excellent, with a variety of options to suit every taste. The staff were friendly and attentive, making our stay truly special. This resort is perfect for those seeking a peaceful getaway, as it is not a loud or party-oriented destination. We would definitely return for another anniversary celebration. Just avoid the “Orange Shirt” folks in the golf carts. They are selling timeshares and very pressuring. Just say no politely and keep walking, they eventually get the hint!

Palladium Bavaro

Entertainment was amazing! Rooms are outdated but we are aware that they are renovating! A la carte !!! Steak el dorado was re located in a buffet area .. didn’t feel like an a la carte .. our room was fine but a sibling of mine had a room that wasn’t up to par !! Open bottles etc dirty sheets in the room upon arrival … found a live cockroach !!! After numerous attempts to contact reception they did not help and would hang up !!! Would go again!

This hotel featured beautiful grounds and very nice staff, they kept us very hydrated by the pool often coming to replenish drinks. I wish that solicitors did not come to us so often offering excursions and spa packages when relaxing by the pool, even after saying no they often spent time trying to convince us. Beach was beautiful, but again many people on the beach selling items relentlessly. The room was nice, however was in need of some work in the washroom, the shower water often smelled  [... read more]of sewage and had to call twice to get our safe fixed. Food was fine, however it was VERY difficult to get reservations at al a cartes, only able to get to the steakhouse on our last night which was disappointing. The buffets had many options which was nice for picky eaters!

Sun, sand and salt water : perfect. Resort itself: not bad, Food; Meh!

Beach is fantastic, never had a problem finding shade or a beach chair. Rooms were clean and modern. (Turn off the lights at night, combined with the gaps around the doors and you have a mosquito highway. As for entertainment… we could find none. The food is good but, the good stuff is held ransom you will wait, and wait. Half the grill is used at a time, they are in no rush, one person at a time. 95% of the staff in the resort seem to be happy and friendly.

Great Resort

The Resort is beautiful, clean and safe. The room was always cleaned but the only issue was mosquitoes in the room. Maybe to work on that but for the rest it was great. I loved the family ambiance it has, the different entertainment every day both for kids and adults. The food was amazing and there was a variety of food whether at the buffet or at restaurants. The little cars for transportation from one corner of the resort to the other is a great feature.

Wonderful Resort

From check in to departure this hotel checked the boxes for us. We were platinum and were close to beach platinum pool coffee house etc. The check in went great and quick with Juan and we were able to eat at PBG after getting to our room. The restaurants (steakhouse Mexican Italian Tanuki) as well as the Sports bar and main buffet were good. The grounds are immaculate. The Royal people are there but didn't seem to bother anyone that we saw. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort as the price vs. resort makes it one of the best we have been to.

Not like it used to be

This was my 6th trip to this resort, the first time there since 2018 and all of the "upgrades". The staff, as usual, were the absolute best, they are and have always been my favourite part of the resort. I was very impressed by the new buildings and the new pool area in the Platinum part of the resort. I was not a huge fan of the new Platinum Lounge. They used to have a different selection each day. The Absolute favourite part of the trip, as usual, was the Platinum Beach Bar!!! Try another place

This was my 4th time to this resort, since the renos/expansion, the food quality has dropped a lot, level of service also dropped, although some staff is amazing.. service at Rebel 24-7 was terrible.. Also, being woken up 5:30-6am every day by screaming peacocks was not very fun...
