Not recommended

Although the hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are very clean, it stops there, the food quality at the buffet was terrible,, only restaurant worth going too was the mexican restaurant. Steak house was not that great. Alcohol at the resort started at 11:00 am and would stop serving at 11:00 pm. Only way you could get food was room service after 10:00 pm that's their idea of 24 hours for food. The beach they advertise on their pictures is false...its washed away behind the hotel. Great Resort

I love the coffee shop it was amazing all of us loved it . Buffet was great, amix of Mexican food as well as international. The most amazing thing was the service. Every single staff member was amazing. I had a junior suite , it was great however at night I could hear everything from the outside so I did not like that too much. Also, the entertainment team will only play music in English which I was okay with but I would’ve love to have more Latin music sin I was in Mexico. Absolutely wonderful!

Everyone and every thing was excellent. Food was plentiful and delicious. Room was clean, big and nice view off balcony. Where do I start with staff… A big thank you to Nancy, management and staff for always being friendly, happy and helpful. From the time you walk in your treated exceptionally.

Amazing resort!

I had the pleasure of speaking to O'Neil Graham who tremendously helped me out a lot to travel to Mexico by myself for the first time. He was a life saver and guided me through simple action steps on what to do since I missed my flight. Prior to this I was on the phone all day with another airlines/agents and it was such a struggle to communicate with them and they were of no help in regards to my situation. Great Week!!

Overall this property offered everything needed for a wonderful vacation! The beach is practically non existent so if that’s big on your ‘need’ list then this place is not for you! The food, coffee, drinks, rooms, linens and facilities in general were fantastic! Location and proximity to 5th Ave were also great! We had a fun, fun week!

Disappointing expectations

The biggest disappointment is the absence of the beach,which you only realize when you get there, because the pictures on the website shows beautiful stretch of beach,but in reality there is no beach.The next disappointment is the smell from the seaweed.Third disappointment is long drive with multiple stops from and to the resort/airport.The next disappointment is the size of the place,it is advertised as a resort,but In reality it is not a size of resort,but a hotel.

Covid 19

The n site staff were awesome, the food was the best or any resort I've been to. Big call out to @Berto @Sergio for providing fun and being so accommodating all the time they truly were a joy to spend time with. A call out to all the staff that work tirelessly to make sure the grounds inside and outside are clean and kept healthy for everyone. Definitely a repeat customer here.

Your home away from home!

Spent 10 days at Panama Jack Resort Playa del Carmen and wish we would have booked longer. From the moment we arrived everyone welcomed us like we were family. A special thanks to Oscar, chef Crescensio, chef Armando in the dining room for our special last supper. What an awesome touch! Nightly entertainment was great, thanks Sergio. Fantastic Resort

The staff from room service, housekeeping and food services where absolutely fantastic. There were 11 of us for my wife’s 60th birthday and we had a party in the Brazilian Steakhouse and the staff was amazing this was our second visit to Panama Jacks in as many years. Truly a delight. Phenomenal Staff

We enjoyed out stay very much. First of all I would like to say we travel quite a bit and have been to over 10 different resorts in Mexico since 1996. The one thing I would like to say about all the staff that work here they are all 10/10. Of all the places i have been too the staff were the best by far, I can not say enough about them. My favorite above all was Oscar Cach one of the waiters in the buffet, he just goes far and above with his amazing service and great sense of humor. The gro [... read more]unds were nice as I prefer the smaller resorts for getting around as I am a paraplegic in a wheelchair so makes it easier on me. The food in the Buffet was very good in fact probably the best we have had in Mexico. I wasn't crazy about the Italian restaurant as the food was bland they didnt even have fresh garlic in the kitchen just garlic oil. that should tell you everything you need to know right there! We tried the Brazilian steak house one night and again it was just ok but that is because i am used to eating the best meat in the world because i live in Alberta, nothing will touch that. We never tried the Mexican food restaurant. The burgers they cook outside in the little food van on the grounds were very good but sometimes the lines up's would get quite long. Now i did ask for an accessible room and Trip central was nice enough to phone and even confirm it which was great as no other company did that for me before as they always say they can not guarantee an accessible room. As for the accessibility of room I felt was not very accessible at all there was just one tiny grab bar beside the toilet that was up high and at an angle so almost useless. There should of been a lot more grab bars around the toilet I am just lucky that i am still strong enough to move my body around and i took things very slow and planned as it was scary. As for the shower it was a true roll in shower no step or bump which was great but the shower hose attached to the head was almost too short. I am just lucky i bring my own shower bench when i travel so was able to park it real close to the controls. But in all fairness to the resort I didn't complain or tell them and investigate further to see if they had better or "real" accessible rooms. They did have a phone by the toilet which is a must so that part was covered. If you like to party a lot you might not want to stay there as they shut their outside bar down at 11 pm every night and their lobby bar at Midnight. But you are right in Playa Del Carmen so you can go off to some bar or lounge if you wanted too but of course you would have to pay for your food and drinks then! Overall i would give the resort a 9 out of 10 at a minimum because everything was almost perfect for the 10 days we spent there. Food, customer service, smaller resort making it more personal. It was definitely one of the best times we have had in Mexico

2nd year in a row - just as great!

This is our second year in a row going to PJ in Playa Del Carmen and we still love it! The rooms are big and spacious, the beds are so comfy with soft white duvets, the food is amazing and the staff are the best I've had. I've travel extensively throughout the Caribbean and I now consider PJ my go-to resort. The beach is non-existent but once you get over that, the resort is to be completely enjoyed! Last year, I wrote in advance to the resort and told them of my husband's inability to walk far and they gave us a room right beside the lobby. Wow! This year, they once again gave us one of the designated handicapped rooms at the lobby and it was so appreciated. Everyone worked so hard to make our trip memorable. From Natalie Collura at TripCentral who arranged wheelchairs at both airports, to Luis Nunez at the front desk at Panama Jacks to Julio who got my husband drinks all day at the pool, let me just tell you how grateful we are for all your efforts. This is a friendly, family oriented resort that goes overboard every day to make their guests welcome. I have no complaints whatsoever about this resort.

Amazing Resort

The resort is fantastic. From the moment you enter the lobby to check in you notice that the Resort is clean and well maintained The rooms are spacious and well appointed and clean. All staff have a great attitude and seem to love to come to work. The Entertainment Staff Celia,Sergio and Mr Mike made the day awesome and the shows on the outside stage Fabulous.

Great place relaxing

The service was great the food was good the three restaurants were good and the buffet was nice good selection of food the staff is very pleasant throughout the resort. Just wish the shows were at 9pm only seen one because we had dinner at 7:30- 8 every night and the shows started at 8pm. There was a lot of families there so they had a lot fun by the pool when they had the foam party’s. Good resort

The food is good and the location is great it has everything within walking distance There’s not much in the way of entertainment at night it starts when your having dinner and finishes pretty early. It’s far to expensive when you have to pay the single supplement which will definitely stop me from coming again.

Amazing activities and Great Location

Our family had a wonderful vacation. We enjoyed all the restaurants and the entertainment was fantastic. We enjoyed sitting outside of our rooms at night and talking. We created wonderful family memories. There is something for everyone. The walk along 5th Avenue is exciting and there are wonderful items to purchase. Our spa experience was amazing.

Beautiful property and Amazing Staff

Awesome resort

Food was very good. Place was super clean. Very friendly staff. We felt an improvement from 5 years ago. We knew the beach sucked , but we were ok with the pool. Location is outstanding , walking distance to 5th ave.

Wow!

Well first off let me say what wonderful staff! Every staff member we encountered was just so eager to help you. Just exceptional. The food, again was wonderful! I am a vegetarian and have a severe egg allergy. I was stuffed all week and was able to eat a variety off food. The only time I had to ask them to make something special was when we were to the Brazilian restaurant (because it’s meat) but that was only for a main course. However a short walk over to the next resort on the public beach and it’s beautiful!

Nice not great.

First trip away, started off with a 3 hour delay with no food voucher provided. We were tired and hungry. Went to take a shower and there no hot water. We were told to let the water run for 20 mins first and then it trinkels out! After that, it did get warmer. I thought I upgraded to ocean view but found out that I only got ocean view Partial view from the neighbours balcony ( when they weren’t sitting there)! Breakfast was very good at the buffet but the dinner wasn’t great at all. Very cold. The other restaurants were better (Mexican, Brazian and Italian). The burger place was great! You won’t be hungry. The shoreline wasn’t good. Lots of rocks and old sand bags but had nice views. If you want to swim, you have to walk a bit on the beach infront of the other resorts. Even then, they had some rocks and sandbags in the water so you need to be careful. Drinks were good. Tho not much alcohol in them. Bartenders were always happy to serve. The main pool was nice and beautiful that it overlooks the ocean. Sometimes there was a very strong smell of rotten seaweed that really kills the mood. The nice thing is that 5ft Ave shopping strip is just up the road. Very convenient. Lots of security walking around. Pretty safe at the resort. Because of the buffet, shoreline and cold and weak shower, I would say it was a 3.5 Star.

Fun!!

This was our second visit as a family to Panama Jack resort. We love the resort and have enjoyed ourselves on both occasions. The food at the buffet is a nice surprise for an all inclusive. We were always well fed with tasty food choices. It’s all about the guacamole there!!! Activities throughout the day led by a friendly and accommodating staff. The grounds and public washroom facilities were always well maintained. The beach is not the best for swimming but a short walk will get you your ocean fill.
