Beautiful Place to Vacation

My favourite resort we have been to in Cancun. The food was amazing, staff was super friendly and welcoming. COVID protocols were in place and we felt very safe there. Would definitely come back again

Beautiful Resort

We loved this resort, the grounds are amazing and loved all the pools and water everywhere. The only disappointment was all the uncharges, I had a massage that was great, but after paying double what I would pay at home they scented massage oil was an uncharge... should have been included. This happened in all areas, food and drink etc.

Fantastic Time!!

We had a great time. This is the second time we have visited this resort and I was not disappointed. We have never returned to a resort before, and I say We would come even come back a third time. We brought our freinds with us, on our recommendation, so we were a little worried. But that worry was unfounded, because they loved the resort! The food was great! If you are a foody, then I would definetly try this resort. The buffets changed daily and did not serve the "same old, same old" everyday. [... read more] That was a nice change from the last couple resorts that we had visited. I was actually looking forward to what was on display everyday. Loved all the restaurants :) The hotel grounds are very well kept. The room was clean. Most of the hotel staff were very friendly, (with the exception of a couple people who were not very engaging and did not smile). The only downside were the glasses left at the entry to our room and the cleaning cart that we had to navigate around "every time" we came back to our room. The entrance was a little cluttered. There were glasses, napkins, bottles, room service trays etc etc. I think the resort staff should take note of this, because this was the only negative we had for the week and this stuff should have been attended to immediately :( We had a great week and would definitely come back for a 3rd visit.

Beautiful and Great Service

The resort was very clean, staff very friendly. For those of you who enjoy good food, you would not be disappointed. This resort is very much about great service, from start to finish, and good attention to detail.

Amazing Reaort!

Everything about this resort was incredible! Staff, food, pools and overall atmosphere! Our personal concierge went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome! I have already recommended this resort to all the people I know!

A return visit to paradise

The resort is very spread out 1.5 miles from one end to the other including the Casitas. But it’s such a lovely walk and there are regular shuttles you don’t notice it. The staff are all exceptionally friendly. Special shout out to Felipe who immediately recognized us and said welcome home with hugs. Victor, Gregoria and Israel our servers at Cocotals and Jojos. Eduardo the beach butler, Caesar the bartender at Jojos and to our amazing butler team of Kay, Berenissa, Manuel and Ivan. The room [... read more]s are being updated and we were in a royal swim up suite which was breathtaking. Food, just wow, this is a gourmet inclusive resort, top shelf alcohol on request. The El Dorado team do everything with a smile, Hola and Excellente. No request is too much. This was our third visit and we will definitely be back.

Never going back!

We stayed in a swimup suite with a salt water lazy river attached. The lazy river did not really connect to the swim up bar. To get to the swim up bar you had to cross over a small wall. That area seemed to accumulate a lot of dirt and green matter floating on the surface. It was not pleasant crossing over. Although I would see the pool boys cleaning the lazy river every 2nd day that area was always dirty. Waiters servicing the swim up rooms with drinks was very rare and depended on sta [... read more]ff availability. There was always 1 waiter and bartender to wait for the pool and swim up area so service was slow. There were several restaurants on the resort but not all restaurants were opened. This created a problem with over crowding and long wait times. The day we arrived we were turned away from 3 restaurants due to long waiting times. The day we arrived the resort had 11 weddings and this created a problem because the staff's priority was to service the wedding parties. If you do decide to visit, be prepared to deal with the concierge, they are always contacting you to try to sell you a membership for their time shares. There is always an upsell, from mexican fiesta night to wine and food. The standard steak is flank steak and tenderloin but only available at 1 restaurant. Lobster is extra. Standard wine is their house, anything else you need to purshase. For restaurants that are open for lunch and dinner it is the same menu and it never changes. The portion sizes were very small and my husband always had to ask for double portions. The room service was limited and very rare was the food warm, waiting time was between 1hr to 1hr and 30 mins. Their desserts were not very good and tasted bland. They had a Mexican fiesta night and were charging the guests from 45 to 90 USD, they called it VIP seating. I have never come across this before in any resorts that I have visited. Fiestas are always for everyone and there is never a charge. Our room was always cold and damp, we needed 4 blankets to sleep well at night. The rooms were old and of desperate need of an update. The lighting in the bathroom was so poor it was difficult to get ready at night. The patio door did not lock and the tub looked like like it came from the 80's. I have visited many all inclusive adult resorts and for this resort I spent the most and was surprised on the condition of the resort. There was always a sewage smell throughout the resort that was hard to get used to.

A Beautiful Resort

This resort was set up very well. The layout makes it feel more spacious then a single series of buildings. It is surrounded by lovely gardens, pools, fountains and the restaurants are each located in their own area. You can do plenty of walking as the resort is connected to two of it's sister resorts and you can eat at the restaurants in the other resorts as part of your all inclusive package. Great relaxing vacation!

Just returned from the El Dorado Royale and had a fantastic vacation. The room was very spacious, although the open concept (including the bathroom) was a little awkward as there is little to no privacy. Even the closest of couples need some privacy. We stayed in a beachfront junior jacuzzi suite on the second floor and this provided for spectacular views of the ocean. The food (with the exception of the pizza) was fantastic and we enjoyed every meal. The only downside was breakfast where al [... read more]though there was one restaurant that offered a la carte choices, the resort mainly wanted you to select options from a buffet. I am not a fan of buffet, so this wasn't optimal for me.The beach, while beautiful is not really swimable. If you are looking for a beach that you can swim in the ocean, then this is likely not the right resort for you. They work hard to keep the sea weed cleared, but this seems to be a pointless task as it keeps coming all day long. There are also some sand bags and other obstacles that have been put into the water to prevent erosion which we were prepared for and have seen at other resorts. You can't blame a property owner from trying to protect the erosion of their land. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. We wanted for nothing. There is a concierge service that is shared between the residents of two buildings and they are somewhat helpful, but it seems their main role is to up sell you on services and try to get you to "tour” their property and sell you either future trips or club memberships. We didn't make too much use of the concierge as a result of this constant push to buy spa or other treatments.

Think twice

Eldorado Royale The hotel catered to their members only and provided second rate services to those who did not join. The Japenese restaurant was not considered one of thier best restaurants but it was exemplary, the food and staff amazing! The 2 restaurants that needed reservations to go to were simply ok,not the best and really pushed an upsell for thier wines and tequilas. There was only one restaurant open for breakfast at the Royale from Monday to Thursday which made it hard to get in fo [... read more]r breakfast, and even harder to time it when there was food in the buffet. Very difficult to get decent coffee at any time unless you paid for Starbucks. The main pool had limited seating and it was hard to reserve seats unless you paid $200 per day for a Bali Bed. The beach was rocky and despite the workers working extremely hard to remove the extensive seaweed it was always dirty. The beach was definitely not swimmer friendly. The entertainment was great! The shows were amazing and Mexican night was one of the best! Jojos bar had late night dancing which Was extremely fun! But they always ran Out of grey goose vodka by 6 pm And substituted it with various low level vodkas. If you decide on this resort make sure you ask for an Ocean Front room? Otherwise you are stuck in the back of the resort. All In all I would rate this place at a 3.5. The staff I would rate at a 5!

Wonderful service, shame about the beach

El Dorado Royale is a wonderful resort if you want attention to detail, efficient and friendly staff, carefully tended grounds, artfully presented and tasty food and well appointed, spacious rooms with comfortable beds and pillows. However, the beach was greatly disappointing. The ocean beach floor was primarily rough, hard coral and the waves and seaweed made it very difficult to participate in water sports. Up-selling is the order of the day at the resort. I had booked an ocean view room [... read more] and when checking in, I made mention of the view. I was told that my room looked over a building and trees but for an additional cost, I could get an ocean view room. I declined, and when I checked into my room, I was delighted to see my room faced the ocean. It was a glorious view. Also be aware of the time share seminar that you will be invited to attend.

Amazing resort! Amazing Staff!

Had an amazing time. Lovely looking resort with lots of options for swimming and fun. Was particularly blown away by the quality of the food. Jojo's Caribbean Beach Grill was our personal favorite for both lunch and dinner. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Tons to do, beautiful beaches and they grow a lot of their own produce. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful Resort

This resort was amazing. Great food and entertainment, along with such a peaceful atmosphere. I would highly recommend this resort for a relaxing vacation. Make sure to visit all the activities on the resort.

Beautiful Resort with some drawbacks

Beautiful resort, However nothing in life is perfect. There was not enough beach side and pool side service resulting in long waits for drinks. Room service, at least 1 hr waits for delivery. Restaurants food quality was amazing, however wait times were at times 1hr. I could understand this if the dining room was full, however when half the tables were empty and we were given a pager, no explanation despite repeated questions as to why, just a smile. This is an adult resort , we don't have bedtimes. The evening shows were impressive and the Mexican fiesta night was amazing with outstanding performances. Room quality was outstanding.

A fantastic place to stay!

The staff were great. The rooms were comfy and we'll kept. The food is amazing. I cannot wait to go back. If I could, I would have stayed there and never come home. The pools were all great, but I liked that some were salt-water and some were not.

Amazing Resort & People

I had an absolutely fabulous time. The staff was nice, the hotel was beautiful, the restaurants were great. I was able to obtain beds by the pool every morning (usually got there by 7 am to save our spot). My only complaint about the resort was the beach property really wasn't nice while we were there. There was algae everywhere, and so much we couldn't even enter the water. I was advised of this prior to going by Rebecca my travel agent. This resort has so many restaurants, I believe 10 or 11 in total and only 2 of those require reservations which was amazing. I would definitely go back to this resort and highly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful vacation.

Not bad, not perfect

The hotel is great. The service is also great but the beach is the worst thing for this hotel. Also, we got there for the food (apparently) it was a great place for the food - Culinary experience. Well, I'm not saying it wasn't good but not much restaurant where we could say WOW WOW WOW ! So the culinary experience is what I would called an ordinary food experience. Perfect vacation!

Amazing resort with superb service! we were welcomed anywhere we visited in the resort. It is a relatively big resort but it's easy to go around with the great shuttle service they have. Their great food quality and variety was definitely the highlight of our trip!

Exceeded expectations!!!!

The Hotel, grounds, services, people, food, room were totally amazing. i would recommend this place to anyone. Everyone was friendly and polite room service was prompt and excellent, personal concierge Luis was extremely helpful he went out of his way on numerous occasions which surprised and amazed my wife and I. Sitting on the beach waiters would come by and offer you ice water that they were carrying, not expecting a tip just courtesy!!!!! Wow!!!

Nice Relaxing Resort

This was a nice relaxing resort. It never felt crowded, as it was spread out along the ocean. You could get a shaded outdoor bed at anytime. Lots of natural palm trees provided shade everywhere. Both at the pools, and along the walkways. There was a lot of variety of food and restaurants. The house wines were decent. Premium liquors were readily available. The resort staff were genuinely friendly. More friendly than any other mexican resort that we've been to. Downfalls - The  [... read more]water at the beach was too rough for swimming or snorkeling. There is no proper disco. There are NO fresh juices offered at the resort, aside from a couple of small glasses at the breakfast buffet. That was pretty disappointing for a gourmet food resort. My husband got food poisoning at the resort. He has never been sick at any other resort in Mexico.
