Our 4th visit to NYX Cancun - Best yet!

My wife and I just returned from a fantastic 1 week all inclusive stay at the NYX This was our fourth annual spring break visit and I'm happy to report it was our best ever! We appreciate the classy yet casual vibe of this small resort, the delicious food, and friendly attentive service. It is perfect for the kind of beach vacation we prefer - total relaxation! On arrival at 8pm Sunday we were assigned a master suite on the 1st floor of building 5 - right over the pool bar. The same room w [... read more]as initially given to us last year and we knew from experience it would be too noisy for us on DJ nights. We immediately requested a change and while the front desk couldn't accommodate us that night, we were able to move to the 4th floor ( as requested in our reservation) in the same building the next morning. This was a much better room for us but still a bit loud in the evening as the DJ plays until 10. If you are early to bed early to rise like us you might want to request an upper floor in building 7 or 8 if you have ocean front. These are quietest. Aside from that small inconvenience our vacation was perfect! We rented a cabana about half of our beach days, and had fantastic service. They are well worth the CAD $20 per day. New this year was the cabanas have moved north from in front of the Deck restaurant to just past the life guard tower. We enjoyed wonderful breakfasts on the lagoon balcony, lunches at the Deck beachfront restaurant, and dinners in the Italian or at the Deck. All were delicious with a variety of themed a la carte choices. My personal favorite was the grilled salmon at lunch. For us, the international clientele make for a vibrant experience. Guests were about half from US and Canada and half from around the globe.While it is more of an adult resort, there were young families, some small groups of spring breakers, and couples of all ages. A great mix. I want to take a moment to recognize some of the fantastic employees at the NYX - they are why we return. It is really great to see many who have been with the resort for a long time. This tells me management is treating employees well, and it is a good place to work!

Terrific resort

The rooms were very spacious and well appointed. The hotel is layed out very well and nothing is too far away. Lots of stairs which might not be great for those with mobility issues. The food was outstanding from the breakfast buffet to the beach restaurant. The Japanese restaurant was absolutely fantastic as was the service! Chianti had excellent dining as well. Wonderful experience!

I can’t say enough about this small hideaway in the hotel zone in Cancun! The ocean front view room we upgraded to was well worth it! The beach was gorgeous! This was our 6th trip to the area and was our first visit to the NYX resort and would definitely go back! This was also our first experiencing a small resort and fell in love with the intimacy of it! With only 138 rooms we got to know guests and staff better than on the bigger resorts! This resort was recently bought and while we  [... read more]were checking out brand new Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress’ were being delivered to all the rooms and all new beach lounge chairs are coming! Can’t wait to go back to that! The hotel is within walking distance to amazing shopping, entertainment and restaurants and across the street from the Lagoon side. We had an incredible 2 week vacation and thank Julie Bond from Trip Central for helping us book a great holiday! Don’t hesitate to book your holiday at NYX, you won’t be disappointed. Great small resort

Small resort with beautiful beach, good food, nice rooms. You can get lunch delivered to you at the beach! Japanese restaurant was really great. Bed was hard, but manageable. No big show at night, but a live band that was good, although repetitive after a few nights. Have to wake up at 6am and save your beach chairs if you want a good spot or to sit with a larger group.

Amazing beach, excellent food, friendly staff! 5 Star!

Our group of 12 had a fantastic 1-week all-inclusive vacation at the NYX hotel. The food was delicious. Lunch and dinner were all made to order (order off the menu), the breakfast buffet was great. We definitely ate too much and all the staff were happy to keep bringing us food and drinks. Our favourites were the avocado stuffed with tuna, the fish & shrimp tacos, and the brownies for desert. This trip will be tough to beat, I am completely satisfied and would highly recommend this place if the amenities meet your needs. For those who have not yet visited NYX Cancun, here are somethings I would've liked to have known about the resort: - It is a smaller resort with a lot of steps, this was no issue for any of us in the group - I saw all 6 rooms we booked, they were all vastly different sizes and layouts. None of them smelled or were unclean. Most were modern/updated. Some had elevators but most only had stairs. Our Master Suite was not updated but was large with a beautiful view. - The rooms have free safes - You get a bottle of water with housekeeping, but you can also ask for drinkable water at the bars and restaurants so we got our re-useables filled many many times - You can get snacks brought to you on the beach between snack hours! (11-5) - The main pool is the best, as it is in the sun most of the day and is nice and warm. The smaller pool is in the shade for most of the day and was very cold, we never saw anyone in it - The hot tubs were not hot, 1 day they were warm and the other days they were not heated. Didn’t bother us, we preferred the beach - The beach is beautiful and clean, I saw a tractor combing the NYX beach in the early morning - I dont think the hotel can be faulted for this because it happens everywhere but the beach chairs were always saved, and it was the general etiquette to let people keep their saved chairs. We woke up at 7:15am, 6:45am and 6:15am and these were almost not early enough to get chairs. Most people seem to get up at 5am to save chairs. The beach WOULD have plenty of shade for everyone actually at the beach at one time, but due to the save chairs in the shade where people are not present, it makes it seem like there are not enough shady spots. This was the only actual downside to our trip, but I personally can’t think of a solution for this so I don’t hold it against the hotel at all. - The hotel was very clean, the staff was very detail-oriented. The foot-washing faucet area was always being swept for sand, the glass balconies where squeegeed, the housekeeping service swept the floors and the balconies, the pool was closed off at night and cleaning chemicals added. - There is a mall a 10-minute walk away, and a market only a few bus stops away.

Boutique Hotel Resort

Lovely 165 room resort on the hotel zone in Cancun. Very intimate, outstanding service and civilized guests. Four super restaurants, everything prepared fresh daily. Beach was incredible, our balcony view breathtaking. Priced right, everything just superb. So much nicer than the colassal sized resorts. Our servers knew us by name and saw to our every want and need. Great shopping nearby and walkable neighborhood. Definitely will return

Smaller resort

Staff five stars! Very helpful and friendly. Resort is small, only two al la cartes, one which was closed for weddings. Had to line up every day to book the al la cartes, crappy system, alot of wasted time on your holidays, as you could only book one sitting at a time. Grounds were very clean, breakfast was typical but all the other food was good. Don't think I would go back, as we were there for two weeks and got tired eating at the same buffet all the time. Quaint resort

Just got back from our Feb 5 stay at the NYX. The rooms are quite nice and modern and bathrooms were very large and shower was very large as well. We stayed in building 2 fifth floor sunset suite room looking over the lagoon and had beautiful sunset views . The food was very good. Especially in the Chianti Italian and Umami Asian. You do not need a reservation to eat at the Asian restaurant. They have a wonderful menu of sushi and asian dishes. The lunch menu at the Deck is great.Amazing tacos, calamari and burgers, and they will even serve you food on the beach. Look for Jose for beach service. He is absolutely amazing and tentative. Tip him well he hustles like no other. The beach is so beautiful and the sand is like white powder all along the strip. The pool are is small and not very many chairs there but we come for the ocean anyway. Only a couple of days did we have to hustle to find enough chairs on the beach. We were a group of 11 who have travelled together all over Mexico and the Carribean in 4 and 5 star hotels and this hotel is on par. All in all this hotel is nice and small and quaint and I would go back again in a heartbeat.

Disappointing holiday

The NYX hotel was somewhat disappointing for us. Upon arrival in our room we discovered our room bar fridge had no drinks at all including water. We asked the front desk and their response was to go buy some. Not a good first impression. The front desk staff were friendly but unwilling or not able to give us a late check out which was disappointing for us as our room generally wasn't cleaned until 3:30 or later every day. On a brighter side, the waiters and bartender were friendly and attentive. Can't say nothing bad about the service. They were all wonderful. The room we had was spacious and gave us a fantastic view however, we felt like we were sleeping on a rock. Our bed was extremely uncomfortable and hard. We woke up every morning to an incredible view which compensated for some of the other let downs.

Small Resort - Big Heart

This resort is small, but it carries a lot of punch. If you are looking for drinks on the beach, nightly entertainment, great pools and lovely spaces, give it a try. the whole place is really well kept, have friendly staff, and the food was fantastic. We had a great week-long stay.

Amazing resort, great service!!!

Master suite 532,beautiful ocean view, small hotel with great amenities,staff is amazing Eddy bar tender!!! Sebastian and Gustavo!!! Sport staff, Daniela reception!!! Staff from restaurant beach, All Breakfast team, Housekeeping, every and each person in this hotel make our vacation special. Thank you for great service!!! All of you delivered the Wow!!! Great Memories

We (a group of 8 friends) just returned from a wonderful week at NYX. The food was the best we've ever had at at all inclusive. Service was amazing (shout out to Eddie at the magic bar, Jimmy and Shrek). Rooms were nice and clean. We are already working on returning this New Year's Eve with the family!

Loved it

We were really happy with our time at NYX. Smaller resort that I usually go to, however I found there was pros about that. It was very easy to get beach chairs every morning, barely any line ups at the bar .. staff were great and Eddy and Jose were amazing at the pool bar, very welcoming. Beach was litteraly a 15 second walk from the room, which was also nice. I would say the food and the waiters was my favourite of it all, very good service and i loved the food. Another great vacation!

This was our third visit to NYX after being recommended by our Tripcentral advisor Judith. Another great relaxation vacation. If you are looking for a low key Cancun vacation and a smaller resort with great staff, an adult oriented international clientele and good food drink, and hospitality look no further. If you are looking for a party or a family vacation with entertainment for the kiddies look elsewhere.

A little piece of Heaven

We had a spectacular time at this quaint and hospitable resort. The food and beach were amazing. A new restaurant was just wrapping up construction while we were there so we’ll be excited to go back and try it. Most of the rooms have been upgraded. I recommend staying in one of those if possible. The older ones like we stayed in didn’t have the best a/c, but other than that everything was awesome. Perfect getaway

We loved everything about this place. I’d like to say that it felt intimate and that everything is conveniently located near the hotel. The beach is clean and love that it’s the only one with palm trees. The infinity pool feature is great for watching games and activities on the beach. Loved the two activity guys!! Then the Deck restaurant always had a varied menu for lunch. Make sure you ask for the tortilla with guacamole and salsa because it’s not in the menu. At night the Deck restaurant switched the choices for different themes. If you didn’t want to order off menu, they still had some choices of foods for the buffet (pasta, pizza, salad, soups, dessert etc). We ate 2 nights at the Italian restaurant called Chianti which is included in the all inclusive (2 nights) if you stay 7 days. This was very good as well. They bring you little appetizers to try and special drinks! Nice touch. Our room was the Sunset Suite on the 3rd floor overlooking a lagoon on the street side of hotel. I felt the bed was comfortable and the temp of the room was good (I don’t think you could control it). Our ceiling fan made a lot of noise so we just turned it off. Freshly updated room and bathroom. The cleaning staff Natalia was wonderful. I had read reviews about cold showers but ours was fine and had to turn it down sometimes as it was really hot. Everyone was so friendly to us with nice smiles and greetings. There was a love DJ at pool bar on Thursday, Friday and Saturday around dinner time. Later in the evening he moves inside and plays varied dance music and hits for you to dance! I felt very safe there and felt like the staff cared about its guests. Not so great: I’d say I found it weird that the coffee supplied everywhere in the hotel was made using one of those Nescafé type machines. It wasn’t bad but I missed my brew back home. There is no snack bar where you can just grab something quick and leave back to the pool or beach. You pretty much have to sit down and eat. It would be nice to have a station with tortillas and guacamole with salsa if you want a quick bite. Other than that, I would definitely go back again. Perfect for a couple. However I did see a few families. The pool is all one level so it’s good. 2 pools. Hot tub (didn’t try it). If you have mobility issues, especially with stairs, this might not be the place for you. Stairs everywhere getting down to beach and pool, plus to your room. Both elevators were working for the people who had commented earlier in the year that they were broken. Great choice!

Intimate and good value in Cancùn

Our stay at the Nyx is a preview for a further holiday in April. So we were looking for a good value, no frill and easily accessible hotel. That is exactly what we got at the Nyx. Beside on or two people, the service was excellent. Gabriella and Jimmy at the beach or Alvea at the front desk for example. Be aware that some people barely speak English. Cancun beach is beautiful, the sea was agitated but we had fun with that. Be careful if there is a red flag, we saw a woman rescued. It was professional rescue, it is reassuring. There was not that much seaweed. The pool is not that big but clean and sufficient. Enough animation for people who want day fun but no real partying at night. Who cares, you're in Cancun. Go to Coco Bongo or other places if you feel that need. Be aware that rooms on the lagoon side are noisy, in the morning specially. You might want to invest a little more to be on the ocean side. It's only OK.

2 weeks. Late January/early February 2019 My wife and I chose this hotel on Isla Cancun after eliminating the Mayan Riviera area (near Playa del Carmen) because of large amounts of Sargasso sea-weed in the ocean and on the beach there recently. We looked for a clean hotel, comfortable beds, good food, swimmable ocean and/or good boogie-boarding and a beach that's good for walking. What We Liked: White sand beach. What We Didn't Like: Weather - (Not the hotel's fault) Two days of torrential rain to start, with trips outdoors necessary to get from place to place within the site. Even with an umbrella, impossible to remain dry. Cool and windy. Hotel - Smaller, older hotel with renovated rooms. 8 small towers, some without elevators. Rooms facing the very close lagoon/road are very noisy from heavy traffic. Air conditioning cannot be adjusted - only on or off. Rooms are modern, but impractical for a beach holiday, with no hooks or towel bars. Closed windows allowed blowing rain in, to soak floors. Unsuitable for mobility-impaired because of many stairs to move through resort. Beach - Most of our time there the water and beach was covered in sea-weed. It was too rough to swim in the ocean, but poor waves for boogie-boarding. It's steeply sloped, so it's not great for walking on the wet part and very difficult to walk on the flatter dry part. It's wide and white sand. Food/Water - Hotel only supplies 1 litre of water per room per day. They will give you more at the bars. Can't drink the tap water (in 2019!). Both of us got food poisoning while here, for about 3 days each. Breakfast in only one restaurant - buffet. Coffee was from 2 Nescafe machines (other 2 broken); was poor quality with often long line-ups. Lunch in only one different restaurant or on beach - only very slow ordered food, no buffet, with constant heavy BBQ wood smoke swirling around the tables. Dinner served at lunch restaurant - ordered and buffet, or at very good ordered-food Chianti restaurant (limited visits, by reservation). Generally pretty good food. Staff - Great service from Gustavo, Luis, Carla and Norma. Not really "all-inclusive" because many staff get surly and uncooperative if they don't constantly receive the tips they think they should get.

Disappointed

The beach was beautiful however the hotel was very disappointing. The music coming from the lobby in the evenings could be heard in our room. The gym was not at all what was portrayed on the website. The front desk and management were blasé about listening to our concerns and seeing if we could use another hotel gym.

Amazing Service

My wife and I went for a 7 day trip. The staff and service was amazing. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. The resort is very small but cute. The beach wasn't that great, given the time of year. The dining experience was very good. Loved the beach service during lunch time.
