Jamaica ??

We stayed at the rui negril Feb 5 to 12 , 2024 There had been a storm just before we arrived. The was a lot a seaweed that had washed up on the beach which was a little disappointing but after a few days the resort had cleared it all up and the bay looked amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful, food was delicious at the buffet and Al a cartes. The entertainment was very good especially the steel drum show. Rooms were clean and a good size. The whole entertainment crew were very perso [... read more]nable and had us joining in the fun and games.Even the bus driver that took us to and from the resort was very informative about the culture and history of Jamaica he made the long ride fly by I would definitely recommend this resort

Great place

The Riu Negril is what I would consider on the smaller side which I prefer. The staff are amazing from the bartenders, the wait staff, the cleaners and maintenance crew. Awesome people and always ready to help. The resort could use some updates but has everything you needed. There are 3 restaurants requiring reservations Luigis, Steakhouse and the gourmet restaurant and all others are first come first serve. Never had to line up. The main buffet - Green Island for breakfast and dinner was good [... read more]. Lots of choices. The Mandalay was really good - Asian flare. There was a white night on Saturday nights on the beach - lots of fun. Great beach for walking and always lots of chairs. There is a quiet pool that we spent most time if not at the beach. The beach has a bar and a jerk chicken hut - which was amazing. All in all was a good trip. Other than some updates and making the rooms more accessible. The thing that I did not like is at 5:00 pm every day they fog the resort with whatever pesticide they use. We would stay in for an hour after which would make us miss the beautiful sunsets. Should do this when everyone is sleeping. All in all I would recommend this resort.

Great vacation all things considered

This was our 1st time returning to a resort and our 1st time doing two weeks which speaks volumes for this resort. We took our own shuttle from the airport to the resort due to our visit last year and we arrived a couple hours ahead of the provided shuttle. Our room was an ocean view on the bottom floor because we have a hard time doing stairs but if you don't mind stairs then do the ocean view from above. We didn't complain about the toilet that needed a handle jingle to stop it from filling or [... read more] the many other minor issues in the room because we liked the room and it was very clean. After a few days of very poor sleep we asked to have the very saggy mattress replaced which was quickly provided. The grounds are well kept and they sprayed for insects several times in the middle of the day putting a huge cloud of pesticide behind their very noisy sprayer. This bothered some patrons much more than I because I would rather that, than be bit by insects all the time. It would be nice if they could spay before the sun comes up but the noise would wake everyone. A quieter sprayer would solve this issue if possible. There is a constant army of grounds keepers working to keep the grounds and beach looking great. The beach itself is very sandy and raked and cleaned every morning. There is a huge sandy area in the water where there is no grass for those that don't like the grass feel on their feet. Other resort water areas are a mix of grass and sand. I snorkeled every day while there and there is a small narrow reef that starts mid way to the swim buoys and extends out beyond the buoys. I've seen all the same stuff you would see on any other coral reef but on a much smaller scale. Be aware that there are many lion fish, barracudas, nurse sharks, sea urchins and sting rays out there. Shore fishing is no longer allowed this year from the resort beach so I would fish on either side of the resort property almost every morning. There are many small fishing boats adjacent to the property which I went out on. Just remember that they are very negotiable. Last year we hired Stanley's and they were cheaper and they have a proper fishing boat. The entertainment staff is very fun and provided lots of great activities. Negril is on the west side of Jamaica and most of the time the winds there are coming off the land and so we never had one day where it was red flagged. We have been to many resorts on the north part of the island and some stays we were lucky if we had 2 or 3 days where we were not red flagged and forget about snorkeling most days on the north side. The pools are thoroughly cleaned every morning including the pool decks. Our 1st week we stayed by the swim up bar pool and the 2nd week we stayed on the beach. I am not a fan of swim up bars because patrons will “stay” in the water for hours drinking however, they do seem to enjoy it more than the other pool. The locals are allowed only by the edge of water to sell their wares and security does a great job keeping them off the resort property. Security was a little slack enforcing the resort wide no smoking policy even though there are several designated smoking areas. Patrons would smoke and vape in most outdoor areas especially by the pools. It was nice to see that reservations are required for some restaurants but I found that most of them were no better than the main dining room and actually some not as good. You could always find very good food in the main dining room but the seafood seemed to be consistently over cooked in all eating areas. Overall this resort is well maintained and very clean but clearly in need of upgrades and my rating is based on this, however, this resort is scheduled to close in August for a few months for renovations and I look forward to a return visit to see the differences.

Five Star all the Way!

Where to start? The people; the resort staff are absolutely wonderful, super professional and helpful. The activities staff are super fun, and great at drawing shy people in to include them in activities. There are lots of activities to suit everyone's interests. My favourite shows were the Jamaican cultural evening and the Silver Wings Steel Pan band. The food was excellent, we ate mainly at the buffet because we like to eat outside and there was a great variety of food, I rarely had the same t [... read more]hing more than twice and the fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. The facilities were well maintained and cleaned. Our only disappointment was the beach was closed due to high surf for most of the week but not the hotel's fault, there are three lovely, clean pools with lots of activities to compensate.

Loved the resort

We had an awesome time at Riu Negril. The staff were very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend it. The beaches were always clean. The food was great. They changed it up every day. There was always lots of fresh fruit and the fhe food was hot.. There was lots to do there. The entertainment was fun and amusing. Fun for the whole family. The hotel was very clean as were the rooms.I would go back.

Rui Negril

Hotel and grounds were very elegant and well kept. The room was okay just a bit dated. All rooms are very close to the beach and the views are great. The beach looks beautiful but not for swimming as there is lots of weed and grass growing in the sand. Food was great with large selections to please everyone. Hotel staff was very welcoming and fun.

Great Resort!

Beach was wonderful, awesome food and great entertainment at night! Drinks were always flowing! The staff are super nice and really accommodating! My boyfriend and I would definitely go back some day!

Riu Negril

The hotel was alittle dated but clean and beautiful. The beach was lovely and kept very well groomed but not enough shady spots. The staff was friendly. The shops were very expensive but clean. We were suprised at how expensive everything was, pretty much all USD currency was most accepted. Food was very good and pools were well cared for and clean.

Good Resort

RIU Negril is very good Resort.. But property needs Renovations specifically Bath and Toilet. Food is Excellent. Costumers Service excellent. Specialty restaurants not very good menu. Reservations need to do as soon as u arrived. BEACH 🏝️ IS FANTASTIC. You do get tired of eating same Food for a week even though the variety of Dishes plenty. No Room service

Awsome resort

Everything about this resort is outstanding! Food is to die for! Grounds are beautiful and well kept up! Rooms are very clean and immaculate! The staff is very friendly and outgoing! I highly recommend this resort for sure!

Great trip!

Was a wonderful resort, kind people, and massage therapist Stacey-Ann and Julene were fantastic. Food was ok, same choices daily. Beach was ok, lots of grass but some sand area. Plenty of drinks provided.

Amazing resort

Amazing food and great resort but the beach wasn’t as great because of the great amount of seaweeds that’s taken over the beach. It wasn’t as fun to be in the beach waters as we hoped to be . I think they need to get rid of the seaweeds from the beaches and then this resort would be fully 5+

Very nice ressort

Everything is perfect the ground the beach the room and specifically the staff that are very nice and smiling the entire time we were there I would highly recommend this resort for anybody looking to disconnect.

Resort was average, beach was clean but food whole different story

We go to Caribbean a few times a year and we always go with open mind. Our agent Martine Reid always give us good advise about the resorts and places to go to and to avoid. To begin with we had to wait at the airport in the bus for almost two hours waiting for a couple who was not even coming to our resort. Instead of making different arrangement for one couple Sunwing made the whole bus full of passengers suffer for so long. Resort was average, clean, beach was kept well, service was very good, friendly staff. This was not our first trip to Jamaica and we always enjoyed Jamaican food. But this resort had bad food. These was so called touch of Jamaica but I tell you it was just a say. We could not even keep the food down.

Amazing resort

My family and I just came back from our vacation and we loved this resort. We are beach people and we spent the majority of our holidays catching some sun on the beach and enjoying the beautiful waters in negril. The rooms are a little outdated but everything else in the resort was perfection. The food was plentiful with lots of variety, the entertainment crew was great especially Miguel very funny guy! 3.8 stars overall

First all inclusive in 3 years, and it was exactly what we needed. 1) Beach was mediocre. Lots of seating, which was great. The waters were calm as its more of a bay, but the bottom of the bay felt sludge-y on the feet. Cute fish were seen and a 2ft shark. 2) A few pools to chose from, which was nice if you wanted a non-busy pool. 3) Food was good, lots of variation every day during lunch and dinner. Terrible

This would be my husbands and ours third time to the review in Negril to be honest with you the hotel has gone downhill the food is the same every night it’s terrible you need music on the beach your entertainment staff suck they play the same music on the beach every day the drinks are under par you can only have two cans of beer in your room per day for two days everybody’s looking for tips I think you need to sit down with your staff and and seriously think of some improvements for your h [... read more]otel because it has definitely definitely gone downhill and we will not be returning

Terrific Resort

We have usually stayed at the Riu Montego and decided to try the Riu Negril for this vacation. We found the staff very friendly and went over and above to ensure all guests were well taken care of and happy. The room was well maintained and, if there were any issues, these were addressed promptly and there was always follow up to ensure that the issue was addressed to the satisfaction of the guests. The entertainment staff were great and were friendly to the guests which made it an enjoyable  [... read more]stay. The grounds and general public areas were well maintained. Re restaurants, what was especially nice was having a staff meet and greet you at the main entrance of each restaurant with hand sanitizer. Unfortunately there is a 2nd entrance where guests would enter the restaurants (Green Island and Seagull) with no one there to provide the hand sanitizer. We would suggest having a staff member meet guests at this 2nd entrance as guests coming from the beach and pool area may not necessarily wash their hands before going to eat. We have observed some guests picking up food with their hands, despite the tongs or serving utensils provided in abundance. Although there were lots of variety in the food dishes, we did find some of the dishes (especially stir fry) very salty. As stir fry dishes contain soy sauce which has sufficient sodium, additional salt is not necessary. For guests who have health issues such as high blood pressure, this is an issue which should be addressed. Please note that we have never had this issue at the Riu Montego or Riu Bachata in Dominican Republic. The resort was beautifully decorated for the upcoming Christmas season. We had a truly wonderful experience there for our anniversary.

RIU Negril

This RIU resort is an excellent example of the RIU brand. It is over 20 years old, but looks like it is no more than 3 years old due to constant updates and maintenance. The management and all staff are positive and very polite, always willing to help and answer any questions. The grounds, beaches, pools and all buildings are kept clean and in great repair. Rui Negril Review

Hello , Me and my wife loved this resort as a whole , staff was great to talk and joke with at the bars and restaurants. (Teraka , Olena, Gareth , Mario) They were the stars of our vacation at the bar. truly great. The food was good no matter the buffet , Al a carte , and especially the jerk hut they had daily. Clean everywhere ya went , even the lobby bathrooms. lol I will be planning a group trip to the same resort next year , our groups are usually 20 people , just did one in CUBA the [... read more] November before this. Enjoyed it that much. Our only complaint is the constant delays home with Sunwing , terrible , loading us up over and over on the bus , to the tune of 5 times.
