Amazing pool!
This resort is just as we expected. The grounds were beautiful, the pool allowed for privacy and socializing. The buffect had a good selection and we enjoyed the hibachi at The Jade restaurant. Our goal was simply r and r. This was a great place to do just that. The rooms were clean but dated however the grounds and pool were gorgeous and that's where we spent our time.

Not impressed
The Jewel Punta Cana left me feeling wowed but not in a good way. The reception staff were rude and ignored the long line up of people waiting to check in. This set a bad tone especially after a long day of flights and waits in multiple airports. There was no direction to our room upon arriving and our bags arrived 2 hours after we got to the room. The rooms are very old and smell musty. Our fridge didn't work and never got fixed until the day before we left. Each day we had to track down housek[... read more]eeping at 5pm to ask for water in our minibar which is very needed considering you can't drink the tap water and must also brush your teeth with bottled water. We ran out of toilet paper and tissues more than once and when we asked for it was told "later." Our TV remote had no back on it and our shower head fell off. Thank goodness I am handy and fixed it myself. The wifi never worked for more than a few minutes at a time and when we asked were told it was from rain that was non existant. Majority of the waiters and bartenders were absolutely wonderful but the housekeeping was very unfriendly and we tipped well but then stopped due to the poor service. This resort is very large and I feel people should be made aware of how much walking there is involved for those that struggle a bit to walk. The outside is gorgeous however it does not match the inside nor the way we were treated. I will not revisit this resort and recommend customer service training for reception staff and housekeeping employees especially when most depend on tips. The rooms also need major upgrades. This is not at all what I expected from a 4 star resort. I felt like I was staying in a sleezy abandoned hotel room.

Amazing vacation!
Myself, my husband, and another couple just returned home from the Jewel Punta Cana. We went for 8 nights to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I am pleased to say the resort met and exceeded all our expectations. The resort itself is beautifully maintained with lush gardens and palm trees. There is a little area with Koi fish where you will find the flamingos close by if not in the pond itself. The pool is huge and they can be seen maintaining and cleaning it every morning. The rooms are[... read more] clean, a good size and I didn't find the bed uncomfortable.
THE FOOD - well I can't say enough about how good it all was. I gained weight on this trip for sure! There were so many options available in the buffet. The only thing I didn't care for was the fact the buffet wasn't open for dinner every night, only Friday and Saturday nights. The rest of the nights you had to go to a specialty restaurant. Don't misunderstand, all of the restaurants were delicious and you weren't required to make a reservation, it was just some nights you wanted the options available at the buffet. I have to give a shout-out to our waiter Clavel. He was fantastic and always made sure we had our Simosa at breakfast to start our day.
THE BEACH- The beach was nice, but I am spoiled with the Cuba beaches so I am always comparing to there. You had to swim in a sectioned-off area due to the large coral reef in front of the resort. If you go to get in the water outside of that sectioned-off area the lifeguard starts whistling at you to get you out of the water. You can however walk forever on the beach which was really nice.
THE BARS- Daniel at the Sunken Treasure swim up bar was AWESOME!! He was always smiling, dancing and quick with the drinks but not overdoing the booze. His Margarita's were delicious!
LOBBY BAR- The staff, sorry don't remember the names, but the staff on both shifts were fantastic. Never an empty a glass, always a great drink and a smile on their faces.
I am just going to sum it up that it was a fantastic place, a great trip and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again!

Fantastic experience
This resort really exceeded our expectations. Staff were always friendly and attentive. Rooms were up to date and clean. Food was never a issue a large variety. I loved that you did not need to pre book al a carte. My only disappointment was the beach straight ahead was not swimmable so you had to go down the beach a bit and there was a small section they had roped off to swim in. This however is not in the control of anyone but mother nature lol. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Pleasant Stay!
The hotel is great, the food was surprisingly good, and the themed restaurants were also great. It was really pleasant to be a VIP Club member. Very friendly staff, fun activities, and a peaceful environment. The beach was great, there's a lot of snorkeling opportunities; we also got really lucky with the weather. The tours that are offered at the airport and the hotel are great: we went to Scape Park and a biggie trip. Highly recommend those! Also there are 3 beautiful flamingos living in the h[... read more]otel area :) We'll definitely be back in a while!

Awesome Resort-Think Twice About Sunwing
This resort was absolutely amazing. We were on a ground floor(which I am not a fan of) but this was a plus. Our room was in front of the koi pond that is the home of three gorgeous flamingos and they were in front of our room every day. The pool is unreal, never had this at a resort. The snack bar at the beach also amazing, awesome food and great location.
The staff were absolutely amazing. Very friendly and accommodating. I do suggest the club level just for the sea grill restaurant for b[... read more]reakfast and lunch alone. The fact there are no reservations for any dinners is an absolute plus, and the food was amazing.
There were a couple of things, but not worth mentioning as I feel they were one offs and not down to the policy of the hotel.
People had said the rooms were dated, but they were ultra clean and housekeeping was amazing. In my opinion if I am going to a country as old as DR I don't want to pull it in to the 21st century and stay in an ultra modern room. I want to feel like I'm living in a replica of the time. Everything worked and it was spotless
I have some issues with Sunwing but again has nothing to do with this hotel.
Huge shout outs to Noami, Wander, Alberto, Cecil, Kendra, Franklin and Adrian and so many more...we had a great time, excluding the sunwing experience and will be back in September.

Just my opinion- About Hotel
I never usually write reviews but I just think it’s best to get the word out to others who are thinking going. All I am gonna say is that this hotel food and service was a 0.The whole vacation me and my friend never got out water and drinks… we asked 3! Services to get us juice or water at least. I feel like they were serving all people who are Latin. Rooms have cockroaches inside and I just have so many things to say how we got welcomed not in a great way but this is gonna take too long. Si[... read more]nce vacation I haven’t felt good for couple days and hoping this will go away.l soon. The pools have barely chlorine I suggest staying away from the pool! I’ve been to different resorts and they were way better!!! Then this hotel.
Yes this hotel is beautiful and great for pictures. But would I pay the same price and come back? No.

Wonderful Resort!
The Resort was super clean, the grounds and Pool were very well maintained and over all the food was very good! The staff there were all very nice!
The Room was dated however it was super clean and we were only in our room to change clothes and sleep!
My only complaint was the beach did not have cover for their lawn chairs...I burn easily and so I did not spend too much time on the beach!
Thank you.

Great Resort!
I went to Jewel Punta Cana in early April and I have a quick summary of the resort below:
The bus ride from the airport was about 45 minutes. The resort didn't feel full, I think it was under capacity so it was very relaxing and chill.
The buffet is repetitive at lunch and breakfast (but I eat repetitive at home) but the food was great! For lunch you could also get food off the grill by the pool bar and there was a outdoor pizza oven that was great as well.
For dinner, only the a la carte[... read more]s were open when I went and I enjoyed all 3 restaurants. First time I have been able to order a steak in Punta Cana and they cooked it properly to my request.
The beach did have sargassum some days but I could easily walk over it. The water was warm, I was expecting it to be more rough than Bavaro beach but I found it the same or less rough. The ocean is rough first thing in the morning but by 9am it was much calmer. It was much quieter than Bavaro beach there were some vendors but they were not pushy. The pool is large but narrow, more of a relax and float pool until you get to the swim up bar.
I found the staff very friendly and the service was excellent.
The rooms were a little dated but it didn't matter to me as I didn't spend much time inside.

Good resort!
The main issues that i had with the resort was arriving there, without being informed that it was being closed until further notice on December 20th. The last few days showed a noticeable change in available food at the buffet. We also experienced one disgruntled employee at one of the a la carte restaurants, but this was quickly handled by the management. The vacancy rate at the hotel was high, no doubt due to fact is was closing soon, but this resulted in fantastic service from the staff.
[... read more] Would not recommend the ocean area as it was always red flagged. The pool was great, but we are beach and ocean people.

Was not DREAMING for Cuban style food
I will start with positive. The staff are amazing. The staff is the only thing that makes this resort good. Especially entertainment team JEAN LUIS and MR WONDERFUL. Also Raul the waiter from the Italian/pizza restaurant is absolutely fabulous! From the entertainment, concierge and servers. Absolutely awesome staff. Emely at concierge was helpful. Thank you Emely. The grounds are beautifully maintained and clean kept and for the most part the rooms are fairly clean. But it ends there.
We cho[... read more]ose this resort due to the excellent reviews and we’re met with major disappointment especially for the astronomical price we paid ($3,000per person CAD for 10 nights for end of November travel) . I don’t understand how this resort has good reviews for food. We have been to so many resorts and dreams royal beach punta cana is 3 star not 5.
I was in disbelief when we arrived the first evening and saw/tasted how terrible the food selection was. I was really hoping it was a 1 night off thing. I was not expecting “Cuban style selection†the lack of variety and taste was disappointing. Especially at breakfast and lunch! Very repetitive every day and lacked selection. Dinner was slightly better since we got to choose from restaurants. But we ended up with undercooked chicken that unfortunately I didn’t see because the sea side restaurant had very dark lighting, which resulted in food poisoning. If you are looking for good food do not book this resort. If you are ok with “Cuban style selection†I would highly recommend coming here
Lastly we did not know we were “preferred club†until the last 3 days of our stay. There is absolutely no difference for preferred club and regular guests.

Overcrowded with Weekend guests
We have been to DR 13 times, various resorts throughout including Dreams Palm beach. We booked Dreams Punta Cana for a new experience and please trust me, do not book this resort! This resort is closing, overall the resort was ok the food was below sub par HOWEVER they allow weekend guests onto the resort. The resort was over capacitated Thursday to Sunday night. They do not have enough staff or the proper facility to accommodate them. On top of that they brought in guests from other resorts tha[... read more]t had to be moved from other hotels because of the hurricane damage. THEY were not the problem nor enough of them to cause the issues, it was the weekend guests!!!
See other points below;
Buffet Breakfast- waited everyday about 20 minutes or more in line to get eggs, toast no problem, butter was always gone, no bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, the only meat was a thick cut bologne sausage unless you sign up for preferred club. Overall same menu every day. Weekends we could not find a table to sit down at, way overcrowded and understaffed, weekend guests take over the tables in large groups.
Buffet Lunch- same menu every day, bbq chicken wing, pork chop and grouper again very crowded and understaffed
Buffet Dinner- same experience as lunch.
A la carte Restaurants were ok- understaffed and every single night something was forgot, rolls, starter, dessert and the menu given did not match the QR menu, very disappointing and blah.
Pools- weekend guests took over, lobby, bar, pools and buffet
Service- weekend guests took over and they are very forward and had preferential service because they could speak the language and were loud when ordering or comfortable because they were in large groups. Harassing comments were made to my wife and her friend to the point were they felt uncomfortable in the pool and going up to the bar. We like to have a beer on the balcony before dinner, the bar fridge not stocked 5 out of 7 days despite several calls.
Hurricane Fiona did strike and we realize it would affect things overall, but nothing was given to guests to make up for cancelled shows, closed restaurants, closed bars, no room service etc. Many guest did not even have water. What they could have done was had extra bottles of water, snacks, towels, for guests confined to their rooms during the hurricane. After the storm staff did an excellent job cleaning up and getting the resort back in shape. Many guests pitched in squeegeeing out their rooms, hallways, and a group of about 20 of us pitched in to move palm leaves, trees, shingles to help out. Staff was lower as many did were home attending to their own families/houses and totally understandable. Note; people we met during the vacation were there the week before the hurricane and had the same issues, staffing shortages and disappointment with weekend guests.
Do not book this resort, even for a lower price, it is just not worth it. Ignore the standard manager feedback comments, they did not try to make things better, the staff on hand did work hard but Dreams put money in their pockets by renting out to weekend guests and not bringing on enough staff to accommodate them or extending buffet hours, opening the other bars on the resort or extending the hours of the bars throughout the resort that closed early. Very disappointing Dreams and never will I book with you again, even at your other resorts. Closing or not you owe your guests a huge apology and some type of reimbursement and not sure how long this decline in service has been going on.

Just Average - Dreams P.C.
My wife and I and 2 sons,, aged 17 and 19, have travelled to many locations in the Caribbean, including the Dominican Republic on 3 occasions, (Margarita, Antigua, St. Lucia, Aruba, Turks & Caicos, and others) in the tropics. So, we know what we want and for many of the things we were seeking, Dreams Punta Cana was only average.
1. Beach: Very important to our family and this was an unabashed disaster! up to 4 feet of seaweed on the beach with almost no effort by the staff to remove it. We[... read more] are a beach (not pool) family, so the sight of this much seaweed rotting in the 32C heat was smelly, to say the least. We were unable to swim in the water due to this problem,, so my teenage boys were not pleased.. I feel that our travel agent should have identified this issue for the summer months in the DR, in order to choose another appropriate resort to suit our needs.
2. Room: Satisfactory but not exceptional for an upgraded swim-out room. The usual smell of mold and mildew which is commonplace in tropical locations was definitely evident in our room, and in our son's room. Not inviting.
3. Food: Buffet was good, but food selection was pretty much the same every day. If you choose not to upgrade (cash grab) to a "Preferred Guest" level, you can only eat lunch and breakfast at the buffet and not select restaurants - disappointing.
4. Restaurants: Although there is advertized over 6 restaurants at the resort, Oceania and Bordeaux were closed for about half of our 7 day vacation for supper. We were not expecting this and when we are on vacation, we expect full access to all restaurants (and all other facilities) every day that we are there.
5. Towels: The towel booth opened at8:00 am each morning and by 8:45 am, they were all gone. Replenishment usually arrived not until 11:00 am, so this definitely needs to be improved. Since the beach was not useable, most of the resort population hung around the pool, resulting in this towel shortage, Unacceptable -.
6, People: The Dominican people could not have been warmer or more hospitable with us - a truly welcoming staff at Dreams PC, and we were honoured to have visited their island. Hi Juana, Ramirez, El and Guadaloupe!
7. Sales Hype: We found it a bit much to be inundated with sales folks trying to sell you a time share or excursion, almost every time you walked in the lobby - hold the brakes on that please. :-)
Overall rating: 6/10. Probably would not return.

Fantastic Time
We had an amazing vacation at Dreams Punta Cana. The resort is really beautiful, with a winding pool and lush gardens.
The rooms are nothing special but were very clean. The entire facility is clean, well cared for and beautiful. The food was delicious and varied. We enjoyed the buffet and the specialty restaurants.
The staff is the standout at the resort. They are so friendly and helpful…servers, cooks, bar staff, cleaners, concierge and entertainment staff. Everyone we encountered was ni[... read more]ce. They really helped make our stay special. Shout out to Benjamin Franklin who popped by poolside to say hello everyday.
I would definitely recommend the resort!
