Amazing rezort

We had amazing time for 14 days and I'm sure next year we will be back in Blau Varadero all personal in hotel was very nice, the beach every day clean, entertainment every night great, I would really recommend this hotel

Blau Veradero

I love Blau in Varadero. The resort is absolutely beautiful. I love the hanging plants in the lobby. The beach is absolutely stellar. The people are wonderful. I do believe that Blau in Varadero is going to be my new vacation destination going forward. I’m already planning a return.

Excellent resort

Rooms and all hotel facilities are clean. Service is excellent. I personally didn't had a problem with the food and drinks quality. Always found something I liked. The new Sunwing/Westjet flight was good as well. It was on time both ways, and service was good.

Amazing

This is our fourth time going to this resort. Great service, great people to deal with. Food,pool and beach are great. Will definitely be back again.Would recommend this resort ti anybody. Met lots of great people from Canada

Would definitely recommend

I just spent a week at this resort and would definitely return and recommend. The grounds were beautiful and extremely clean. The hotel was a good size. Not to big, spotless, had everything that you needed. Food was good with a variety. Drinks were very good a large variety. Rooms were updated and kept very clean.

Loved it!

Everything was great, I can’t wait to go again. Everything from the drinks to food, rooms and hotel itself was awesome. The vibe is super chill. Best resort in Varadero. Anyone that goes will love it!

Absolutely Wonderful Resort

The whole resort is so clean and the staff is amazing. Karl the Food & Service Manager seemed liked he worked 14 hours a day!! The food was well stocked and great flavour. We would come back again for sure.

Great place

highly recommend! the food was not good, but thats to be expected, everything else was fabulous, the coffee, the drinks, the beach, the pool, i recommend you bring your own thermos for the drinks. when i went in feb 2025, they did not have shortages of anything. the ice was fine to drink for us. we didnt get sick from any food we ate, it was just not good (i did stick to the basics though). we brought many snacks and ate them all lol. the best thing was the eggs in the morning. pancakes, fries a [... read more]nd pasta were okay too. everyone was super nice as well, it was a great experience.

Blau Varadero

One of the staff stole my cell phone other than that the resort was pretty good food was alright except breakfast who eats smashed potatoes and fish for breakfast they need to research better selection for food

Good Value and a Quality Destination

Blau Veradaro March 2nd to March 9th Our 4th time at this hotel. The last time we were here was 2013. We were given a room upgrade on the 6th floor as returning guests. The bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious. There were both 220 and one 110 electrical outlets. There was some wear and tear on some of the cushions on the chairs, but nothing significant. The mini fridge had 2 cans of beer and a few bottles of water in it, which were restocked each day. We chose “Bay View” which  [... read more]is the side looking over the hotel entrance and towards the road. We like that side, there is morning sun and afternoon shade on the balcony, and you cannot hear the activities from the pool side. The Hotel and grounds are still very attractive and well kept. The staff are all very nice and welcoming. Although we were not drinking hard liquor, the brands stocked were recognizable brands. There were soft drinks and some non-alcoholic drinks also available. I would recommend you bring a thermos mug/cup to reduce the waste generated by the flimsy plastic glasses they use at the pool and beach bars. We were always able to find chaise lounges around the pool or on the beach. There was the occasional mosquito in the evenings so bring insect repellent in you want to be insured of not getting a bite. I didn’t get any bites, my partner got a few. The food was plentiful and there were lots to choose from on the buffets. Some things were absent but considering the hardships the Cuban people experience with shortages, this is to be expected. Breakfast buffet included cereal, breads and baked goods including croissants, smoothies, (sometimes there were less selections of fruit than other times), salads, hot vegetable items, eggs and an omelette station. There were sausages some days, but not bacon. Coffee was served at the table, and there is a coffee shop open 7am to 5pm everyday where you can get a variety of coffees. There was yogourt and milk, although I suspect some of the milk was made from powdered milk, it was quite suitable. Some days there would be items on the buffet and then the next day they would be gone. Items like peanut butter, prunes etc. nothing significant. The lunch buffets were plentiful and there was always fresh fish, (sometimes very bony) and pork cutlets made on the grill. There was also a pasta bar at lunch. French fries were only available at the beach bar where hamburgers could be had as well. The staff rotate between roles, and someone should let the cook at the beach bar know that one cannot empty 2 large bags of frozen fries into a deep frier and expect them to cook evenly or in less that 15 to 20 minutes, as I witnessed one day. The next day there was a different cook who understood how deep frying worked. The wine served at meals was good, coming mostly from Spain or South Africa. The a la cart restaurants were both nice and the food was nicely presented. The service was excellent, the wines were very nice. The customer representatives on the duty desk where you request your a la cart restaurant reservations are very nice and accommodating. We asked for and received some extra a la cart vouchers, as we preferred the a la cart restaurants over the buffets. There is lots of music and activities during the day. We tried out rifle target practice, and although they were older air guns, it was fun. Thanks to Larzarus for letting me take a few extra shots! There was also archery practice at the firing range, and games and activities at the pool. Personally, we didn’t like so much music at the pool, so we moved to the beach where there is no music but the sound of the surf. And the beach is beautiful with clear water and white sand. The entertainment mostly consisted of musical presentations and dance shows. The shows were over at 11pm and even though the lobby bar was open late, the hotel was quiet after that. We went into Varadero one day by bus, but there is really very little to see or do. There are some bars and restaurants there as well. We would recommend this destination for a relaxing holiday, of good value. A final note. On the bus ride back to the airport the host thanked us as Canadians for our assistance. Just visiting Cuba helps the whole island and is a major source of income for the country. We were thanked as a country for our help and assistance by Canadian corporations who help in their oil and gas industry without exploiting them or taking all the profits offshore. We were told how all the Cuban rum is aged in Canadian 10-year-old barrels, and only Canadian barrels, and we were told how all the food grade paste used in the manufacturing of the cigars comes exclusively from Canada. It made us feel proud, and hopefully more Canadians will support the Cuban people buy choosing Cuba as a holiday destination.

One of our favourites

We have been to the Blau several times, the people who work there are simply amazing, everyone is so friendly and nice. The resort is nice. Beach is beautiful. Food is ok but repetative. There is a restaurant across the street that serves a lobster lunch for $20.

Showing it's age-Disappointed second timer

This is our second time at the Blau. I really loved it last year but this year I found that the resort was showing it's age. We booked Select this year, as we thought we would get a better room. I expected a room on the 12th or 11th floor but got a room on the 9th floor. The view was OK but would have been better on the upper floors and in the middle of the building. There was a roach in one of my dress that was hanging up in the closet. It scared the crap out of me when I put it on. Also, ther [... read more]e was a leak in the hallway in front of my room for over 4 days and there was lots of water. There was also a leak inside our room near our closet which was made it very dangerous to walk. The breakfast at the Select was not cooked properly and it upset our stomach. I was enjoying the ham and cheese at the Snack bar until I got sick and notices it was because the sandwiches were out for many hours in the heat when they should have been stored in a fridge. I was going to go back again next year but I may not unless things improve.

Cuba Lover - Fabulous Resort

A big thank you to Heather Felice for booking my amazing trip to Blau, Varadero Cuba. Me abd 29 of my girlfriends had a spectacular 7 days together!! Wonderful resort from a Cuba lover!! Thanks Heather! Sherri ?

Wouldn’t recommend

Stayed at this resort from June 29-July 6 2024. Let me start by saying that I am not a difficult person to please-I’m not a diva, I don’t expect exceptional service and I’m a pretty laid back person. Everyone knows you don’t go to Cuba for the food, and ironically, the food is the only thing that I won’t complain about. The grounds were beautiful (ok-another thing I won’t complain about) the beach was amazing and the food was surprisingly good-for Cuba. The drinks were not good—at all. F [... read more]or a good cup of coffee, go to Coffee Corner on the 3rd floor. Get Ernesto to make you a cold coffee-it’s delicious and he’s amazing!!! The buffet for breakfast and lunch is out by the pool-no air and it’s open so the birds fly in and help themselves to the food. A cockroach was running on the food and up the leg of the buffet table and one of the workers just brushed it to the ground and stepped on it. They had to close this buffet room and give it a deep clean because so many people were getting sick. At one of the a la carte restaurants, everyone who ate there on Tuesday night got food poisoning. Cockroaches run rampant in the bathroom on the 3rd floor-right by coffee corner and I did see cockroaches in our room-I’m just so grateful that I didn’t see them before our last night there. On the plus side-I called the front desk to complain about the A/C in the room and he said he would send a technician and the guy knocked on the door in less then 5 minutes. The next day I had to call again because the coffee maker didn’t work and by the time we got back from breakfast, it had already been traded for a new one. Another down side is that the entertainment plays on a very small stage at the main floor bar and it’s a vaulted ceiling with the rooms overlooking this area-it’s a beautiful scene- but when the music plays, it’s so loud that they sound like they’re standing right outside your room door with a state-of-the-art surround sound system and it just doesn’t stop until 10;30pm. I get it-you’re on vacation and you’re supposed to have a good time-and I do-but it’s not my idea of a good time to listen to opera so loud that my ear drum vibrates and my brain rattles. They need to plan that better. I’ve been to Varadero many times and I’ve always had a great time but this was the first time that I wouldn’t recommend the resort that I stayed at. Food: 7/10 Service: 6/10 Entertainment: 0/10 Cleanliness: 4/10 Beach: 10/10

Great resort!

We stayed at Blau Varadero at the beginning of June and we were absolutely thrilled with our stay and experience. We went for sun and beach but we enjoyed our stay well beyond that. Staff is amazing! Grounds and facilities are kept very clean. Our room (bayview) was very nice, spacious and clean. We were pleasantly surprised with food which was excellent. There was plenty of local fruits, papaya, mango, agawa and pineapple at each meal. Good variety of vegetables, fresh and baked. Two to th [... read more]ree sort of meats, various dishes, for lunch and dinner. They even had paella on the beach one day. Entertainment was also excellent. Variaty of events throughout a week featuring: opera, rock, salsa, and even ballet in water! All these complemented by Blau entertainment team. Piano bar offers quieter and relaxing atmosphere and they make good cocktails. We went to both a la card restaurants. International has a nice atmosphere. Meal was good, but we prefer buffet for variety especially fruits Disco starts at 11pm at the beach bar which is far enough from the hotel to have a quite night for sleep. The last but not least all staff is doing great in their job and they deserve very much our tip. Tip them generously and don't forget those ones who are taking care of grounds. Yes, they share the tip, but still, they are very grateful when we think about them too. PS we also brought some higene products to share mainly with those who don't work in the tourism. Staff for kids would also be appreciated. One more thing, we felt safe all along our travel and stay, at the hotel and on the beach!

Cockroaches

The hotel was full of cockroaches almost everywhere, even in the restaurant and I was really upset with that especially when you’re about to serve yourself with food and the cockroaches are playing around on the table or on the floor. It was a bad experience even though it wasn’t first time going to the same hotel, but overall I like this hotel, but not with cockroaches in it.

Highly Recommended Resort

This is my first time at the Blau Varadero. I would highly recommend the resort to others. a few shortages, but nothing to complain about. The, food for me was ok, no complaints from me. The resort is clean, the staff is amazing and friendly. The entertainment crew gets you involved and the beach bar night disco keeps your dancing all night long. But, you need to bring Mosquito bug spray and we did find ants in our room. ** something to watch for**

Amazing resort

Being the 3rd time at this resort. It hasn’t disappointed us yet. The staff are awesome. The entertainment was good. Food was good. Did not run out of anything during our stay. We will definitely be back.

Exceptionally Cleaning and Beautiful Beach

We had a fantastic trip to Blau Varadero April 16-23, 2024. The resort was modern but classically designed in the form of a pyramid with glass elevators. Gorgeous but this was irritating at times as there were only 4 elevators for the entire hotel and they were quite small so we often waited or were incredibly crowded. Otherwise a stunning hotel with a gorgeous hanging garden, marble floors, stained glass and walkout pristine white beach. She came our last day to give us a card and goodbye hug. The food was good despite some minimal supply chain and shortages issues. We heard from others on our trip home they had more issues at other resorts. We loved the a la carte International restaurant. Sarah from the hotels PR desk made our reservations as well as booked us a private Cuban Car tour for Havana. Highly recommended. My one criticism was as a non-drinker, the bar staff at the pool bar was polite but perhaps on autopilot and served me rum every time, despite my request repeatedly for “sin alcohol”. After day one we switched to the beach or lobby bar and never had another issue. Highly recommend the Pina Colada blended fresh with nutmeg, with or without rum (according to my Boyfriend it was his favorite too - with double rum!!) Apart from my pool bar experience, alll of the staff was courteous, professional and helpful. Would recommend. The shows and activities were great but the hotel is 18+ with no activities for kids, and the adults that were there tended to more reserved and often middle age or above. Lots of Europeans and Canadians and various language groups. Not really a party resort and too far down the beach to walk out into the Varadero club/bar/restaurant scene if that is what you are looking for. ??

Beautiful

Amazingly friendly staff. Great experience. Expected shortages but didn’t notice any really except alcohol selection but there was always something. Room was great. Great entertainment and really gets the crowd involved. Would recommend!
