Very Nice

We just recently came back from a two week trip to Samana at the Viva V. We picked it because we were interested in checking out the town of Las Terrenas and it was the closest hotel. Unfortunately when we got there we realized that despite it only being a short 3-4km distance, to get there is a big up and down hill trip. That's okay. We took a cab to check it out. The bay by the beach is amazing. It's so big! You can walk and walk and walk for hours and barely see anyone. There are some people surfing, but it's really quiet. The only downside is that when we were there it was a bit rough if you wanted to swim. But if you walked about 20 minutes to the left there was a really nice calm area for swimming. The food was also really good. We loved the buffet. The a al carte restos were okay. I preferred the atmosphere and food in the buffet. There was always something tasty. We were there over New Years and the spread was incredible! They had hundreds of fresh shucked oysters and bubbly at midnight. The party was so much fun. There was a show/entertainment every night. The animation staff are adorable and you can see that they are working hard to entertain the crowds. Really, overall, we had a great holiday. The only small thing that is that you can't flush the toilet paper. That's not uncommon in the Caribbean but a lot of the guests weren't following the rules so the public toilets were often plugged. That was nasty. The staff were quick to fix, but it was a mess anyway. I don't know how you would fix that. It's too bad that people don't follow the rules. Thanks for a great stay! We look forward to visiting again!

Meh..

I have been to 10+ resorts in the caribbean, I would rate this hotel a 2.5. Pros: -clean -Great Christmas buffet -clean rooms daily -night entertainment was provided on some nights -good games during the day at the beach -no sellers at the beach like there are in Punta Cana -AMAZING animation team members!! So fun and sweet! Cons: -found a live cockroach in my sleeping mask -humidity in room TV would not work, nothing to do on rainy days -no vegetarian food available in room ser [... read more]vice (not even any accomodation) -nothing to walk to outside the resort -low level customer service -music was so repetitive -scammed into the VIP tour, do not waste 2 hours of your time. They want $14,900 US for you to invest in a package of 50,000 points. Get away! The spa certificate and the tshirt is not worth it. -Bees all over the beach bar. Gross and they don't do anything about it. -the beach walk-in bar has miserable staff and it's so depressing-looking -the theatre is not used so why not do something with it? -some staff are so friendly -Great cigar guy named JJ! -Was not ready for a half-naked show where they obligate these young girls to dress in tiny underwear-like skirts in front of a mature crowd. -Disco suxks..only a handful people at any one night, including the animation staff -nothing else to do after 1am.

Fabulous stay

We stayed with family for a week and totally enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was amazing. We had no complaints. There was so much variety. We all absolutely loved the Fusion a la carte and would have eaten there every night if we could have. Only thing my husband was not a fan of was plastic glasses from the bar in the evening and some inconsistent drink mixes. The beach was stunning and you could always find chairs and loungers. Very Chill Boutique Resort

Smaller boutique resort. Food was excellent, rooms were great, and the entertainment team was very good. Very pretty grounds and beach but the waves can get quite big. Loungers are easy to get even mid day. All of the staff were great.

Perfect place for vacation

Spent one week with my wife in the first half of June. It was our first time at this resort and we like everything about the place: adults only with limited number of patrons, well equipped rooms with comfortable queen beds, daily cleaning and towels change (though the cleaning begins usually at 11am and may last till 4pm), fantastic beach and ocean (long chairs are available all day long, no need to take them early in the morning), tasty and healthy food with vast varieties (great assortment of [... read more] deserts), friendly service and entertainment (group of cheerleaders tried to entertain the patrons all day long, invited singers every night), special events at the buffet, quality drinks at the bars with the long list of cocktails, small gym is well equipped and fitness fans may support the form during vacation. The resort is well managed and personnel really tries to provide the best service. Definitely it worth the price and for the next vacation we will not look for something else. Though a couple shortcomings may be mentioned: water supply to the room has been interrupted one day and one night without notice, and 3 last nights were not very comfortable because of the neighbours - not very civilised patrons used to get to the room about 10pm and watched TV with a rather high volume till around 2am. Since the TV sets are mounted on the walls we had to listen to their noise. After the first night I placed a complaint to the Customer service but it seems nobody talked to the neighbours because they set TV at the same volume in the night. On the third night I smacked the wall and only then they surprisingly reduced the volume.

Amazing Resort!

Wonderful resort! The beach was fantastic! We had so much fun! This was our first Adult only & it was very quiet & worth it. Very clean. Staff very friendly. The Rep from Air Transat, Catherine was wonderful. She gave us very helpful information. Will certainly return to this resort.

Quiet and Peaceful Resort

If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful resort - this is the place. Staff are friendly and the resort is very well maintained. All services and features are very close. Food is great and drinks are always enjoyable.

Very good hotel

Очень хороший резорт ,хороший сервис,прекрасная еда,замечательный сад,прекрасный пляж,удобное местоположение,правильный дизайн,возможность отдохнуть в покое. К сожалению люди курят,прямо под табличками запрещающими это,но обслуга,увы,позволяет это, Все остальное очень не плохо.

Not bad, Not Amazing!

First thing Air Transat switch plane going to Samana DR last minute and my row 1 seats turned into row 28, I am handicap due to a motor vehicle accident 5 years ago and a heart condition that I can not walk for long! informed Air Transat of this but they said "hey you can exit from the rear of the plane when it lands! The leg room was atrocious, my back was sore for 2 days after the flight down! The other thing is if you need internet this is NOT the place for you! I am a computer tech and know  [... read more]lots about networks and Wi-Fi and such the internet provided was right out of the stone age! 8 mb speed at best usually around 4 mb! The entertainment was lousy! They had low budget shows, usually 2 people one singing and one playing keyboard with a laptop with prerecorded backing tracks and most of the music was from 80's and 90's lounge lizard type of tunes! they did have a live band one night out of 2 week stay! food was medium to good but not a lot of variety from night to night! This is defiantly not a 5 star resort! 3.5 at best. Our HVac system in the room was leaking water on the floor so much we had to put a towel down to soak it up! The entire time we stayed the room had a strong smell of sewer gas lingering in the room! Also my wife and I were sneezing and coughing quite a lot! Someone suggested it might be a mold problem? All and all our expectations are not super high! So we had a good time but we definitely will not be returning to Viva Via Samana, and I thing we will avoid the Wyndham properties as well in general! They have a 2 tier setup regular which we were and club which is approximately 30 grand USD to join for 10 years. its a points system that I would not buy into! And would suggest anyone else to stay away from! The plane ride back was great had the same seats we were assigned when we booked the trip! 4J and 4K lots of room I believe it was an Air bus 320? Nice aircraft looked fairly new and engines were extremely quite! The other things I could mention were pool towels were ratty for the most part and had a lot of bleach stains and just looked old! most towels were not even that clean! Some had like a BO smell to them! I was also disappointed in the booze! it was very low quality although some times they had Stoli Vodka which we like Cointreau was either watered down or some fake stuff! Oddly enough they had Sambuca which I drank a lot of and reminded me of the Sambuca I drink @ home! They had some supply chain issues no bacon a few mornings and only peperoni for the pizzas on a rare occasion, cook said they didn't have any! Pizza was taste though. I don't generally eat pizza when I'm away! One night I had breaded veal and it was very good! and one afternoon they served empanada's only the one time though! They were soooo good! Again my review reflects some of the bad stuff as we tended to not forget that! I tried to make this as fair as possible! And the beach and pool were great, only complaint is clean the pool more often and do a better job of it! I also had a room on the ground floor with the plunge pool! Was half empty most of the time and full of insects stayed out of it most of the time, the reason I booked the plunge pool room is that I would be guaranteed a ground floor with my disability that was imperative! The building are 4 floors and no elevators unless you are a club member! Hotel was pretty clean and staff were great management were not quite as good as the regular working staff! I would suggest the overhaul there entertainment crew get more with the times seems right out of the 80's and 90's club med type of stuff!

Fun week in Samana

Spent a beautiful week in Samana at the Viva V Wyndham All Inclusive. Mostly good reviews, but some not so good. The resort is beautiful. Gardens, Beach, Rooms, Restaurants, Entertainment, Staff all very good. We had a second floor room. 1st floor rooms had dehumidifiers running 24/7. The lounge chairs were very uncomfortable. The pool was small, not very deep and cloudy. Fix the lounge chairs and we would probably go back.

Some good, some not so good

The hotel grounds and location are wonderful. Some improvement is needed for the check in process, it was very slow. Also service in the buffet was very slow, need more staff or better training. Red wine was not drinkable.

Amazing Resort

Very nice adult only resort- beautiful beach, lots of beach chairs and shade- rooms were very comfortable, comfy bed, lots of hot water, A/C , nice balcony We really enjoyed the food at the fusion and seafood restaurants. We used the gym everyday and good equipment and well maintained- yoga and acquafit every day We really loved the layout of this resort as close to ocean and pool and not to big. Also super friendly staff- only a 25 min drive from airport- Highly recommend and will be back

Week in the sun

Loved this hotel. Staff were amazing. Food at buffet was typical. Restaurants were good. Rooms were nice and fridge stocked daily. Entertainment was good . Beach was amazing. Loved the dogs and cats roaming the resort. Was upset there was an injured cat but unable to get help from staff. It disappeared so assume they took it away.

The grounds are well kept and beautiful…the rooms were very clean and housekeeping was great! Amazing beach with lots of waves! The food was excellent , lots of variety. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful.

Good except for "Viva Club" Reps

We recently returned from a two week vacation at the Viva V Samana by Wyndham. Overall we enjoyed our our stay at the resort and would rate the resort at 4 star. For us we enjoy a quieter environment and this resort suited us perfectly. If you are looking for a lively environment this resort is not for you. Our room was comfortable and situated away from the lobby and the pool area, therefore we seldom had any noise from these areas. The food was ok, 3+. The buffet was repetitive but we were  [... read more]always able to find something. People with special dietary needs might have problems finding a variety. The Fusion al a carte was very good, the international food al a carte was ok at best and we did not try the sea food restaurant. The beach is excellent and a person could walk for a few miles. There is plenty of shade at the beach and we were always able to get chairs in the shade without getting up early to save a chair. There were also no vendors on the beach which was a nice change. The pool is nice, but shaded chairs around the pool are limited. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The animation team were great and tried to keep guests involved with various games and shows. The biggest negative for the resort are the reps trying to sell "Viva Club" memberships, which is basically a timeshare. We were pestered at least seven times from one rep alone and he would not quit until I told him I would contact security because of his harassment. We will probably not return to this resort because we enjoy seeing other places. However If you like a quiet environment this resort might suit you.

Not the same

Second visit. First was in 2017 when the hotel was new. We loved it on first visit but disappointed this time. The beach is still fantastic and the food was great but the rooms have been neglected and the hotel became noisy with all the evening entertainment. Service is random and chaotic. I would agree with 4-star rating six years ago but now is rather 3-star.

Great quaint adults only resort

It was our first time at this resort and found it very nice, quiet and relaxing. It's a small resort where everything is easy and quick to get to. Our room was 3301 which is right by the buffet, lobby and lobby bar. The room was a newer room and it was one of the best rooms we've ever had in all our years of traveling (23 yrs). The beach was very nice, the water was not calm at all that week (like in some pics we've seen online where the water was very calm and clear). There were som [... read more]e crazy waves which made it fun but you always had to be on guard or you'd get hit and knocked over and in no time you'd be under water so there was no relaxing in the water. It has a great beach to walk long distance on. It rained 4 days out of the full 6 days we were there and our last 2 full days, my husband got sick from the food. His second day being sick he went to the medical center on the resort. They hooked him up to IV fluids with meds, did blood work, urine and fecal tests to make sure he was ok to fly back home. All tests came back negative so they figured it was something he ate. We believe it was the Caesar salad from one of the a-la-carte restaurants we ate at the night before he got sick. We ate the same food except for that. The medical staff were awesome and very knowledgeable. They would come to our room and check on the IV, change it and give him more meds (thank you Dr. Ana Santos and nurse Luisa). The food is so-so, you don't go hungry and neither do the cats. If you don't like animals around you when eating, this place may not be for you. The buffet and the one outdoor a-la-carte restaurant has cats that hang out around the tables. We are not pool people so can't really comment about the pool. We would most likely return to this resort at some point.

Relaxers Palace

Well groomed and maintain grounds. Food top notch too many choices for a 3 day stay. Rooms ok and clean not a cramped space. Uncrowded hotel with lots of land and beachfront land and chairs.to go with it.

EXTREMLY WELL MAINTAINED RESORT, CLOSE TO SAMANA AIRPORT WITH CONFIDENT AND, WELCOMING STAFF WORKING AS A TEAM TO INSURE THEIR EFFORTS ARE REWARDED FOR BY THE PAYING CUSTOMER. ROUGH BUT BEAUTIFUL BEACH

Would Recommend this Resort!

Stayed at this resort November 2023 and it was well worth the money. The resort was very clean and well cared for. Long beach and beautiful clear blue water! Food was good as far as quantity and variety. Restaurants always available. We stayed in the Vibe room which was clean, sheets changed every 3 days or upon request. We had problems with getting English TV stations which never was resolved before we left. Also it was advertised as ocean view but in reality “no” vibe room has ocean v [... read more]iew unless you are a Vive member. Staff was always friendly and willing to help. I would highly recommend and would go back!
