Hotel is Average

The hotel was average and needs many upgrades. The food was great and the staff for the most part were nice and friendly. Jovi-Anne Black was amazing, kind and went above and beyond for my family and I.

Need updates

The buffet food was always cold I went in the end of April most bars closed even the sports bar didn’t open till 4 the a la cart has improved and one day we had a pool full of Jamaican children from a school not relaxing at all

Peaceful family vacation

Just spent a week in Jamaica at the Grand Bahia Principe. Rooms were clean, nice king bed and good air conditioning (almost too good). The buffet was well varied, had steak almost every night grilled but large variety of other meats. Fresh fresh fresh vegetables, a little early for good msgo but nice variety and fruit selection. Everything was central (5 min walk to our rooms, the pool, the buffet, the beach) and there were a number of cordoned off beach spots to choose from. The grandkids thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling in shallow eater and seeing lots of fish and hermit crabs. Bahia has a good, reliable standard and it was a great relaxing vacation. Only the airport was a disappointment returning home. There were several restaurants in the airport terminal but none were open except Wendy's and Margaritaville. Excellent weather, good food, good drinks and a great time with family.

Beautiful resort

The hotel was very good. The staff were good and courteous. The Food was comforting. The entire resort was clean and tidy. I will recommend this resort to anyone. I just think the room is a bit dated and required some sprucing up to make it more modern.

OK resort

I love resort and facilities, however, we wanted room to have view to the sea. Receptionist told me that we were already upgrade to a better, bigger room. Which I believed it was true. This room had no a bad view, but we faced other problems we didn’t expected to find on our vacation. First, room had a door to communicate with another room and noise coming from guests in that room was not pleasant, specially at 1:00 to 3:00 am. Not knowing policies about noise in those premises I didn’t file a c [... read more]omplaint. Those guests left 3 days later after our arrival and situation vbecame bearable. Second and also annoying situation was bathroom with leaking situation which affected walls and water all over the place after taking a shower. We notice a repair next day for which I didn’t file a complaint, however I realized they were patches to fix leaking problem because next shower we would experience the same thing which even ruin walls repair to become messy again. Staff, food, beach and swimming pool were beyond expectations, the only big issue was the bathroom leaking and after arriving back home, we noticed some of our clothing being affected by wall repair, leaving dust and paint on some garments.

A nice little getaway

We were surprised with a large room & huge balcony with an ocean view, which is not what we paid for, so pretty sweet! Multiple beaches to choose from with decent chair availability. Harder to get chairs around the main pool since it was the only pool where the bar/swimup bar was open. The other pool bar was kept closed, so you had to walk much further for your drinks. Not a huge deal, just inconvenient. Now, the only real issue we had, was with the privileged areas. They were always empty, both [... read more] around the pools and beaches, and they had their own bars with bartenders. You couldn't sit there or order drinks there because you didn't have the right wristbands. Which sucked because there were no privileged guest around to even take advantage of them. So the staff had to stand around all day, shoo away those who weren't privileged, and barely have anyone to serve. And it was very hot around the pool. I felt bad for them. Some of them looked miserable just sitting or standing around. I can understand those that paid a little extra for the service, but the place was way under capacity, so just seemed like a waste. Other than that, the place was always clean, food was really good, the people were amazing! No actual complaints from us. It's a very large place, so be prepared to do some walking to get around. But they do have little shuttles if needed. There's always food available. Even at 11pm, they open another buffet style restaurant over by the pool and are open until 6am. We took advantage of the a la cartes all 3 times and had really good meals. Entertainment was really good. We loved the live bands and musicians that played next to the sports bar in the evenings. Great shopping at the Bahia Village. They do bargain and do give decent deals in both American and Jamaican dollars. Ended up doing most of our souvenir shopping there. Our favorite beaches were over to the left of the hotel when facing the ocean. The beach next to the nude beach had a well equipped beach bar and washrooms which was very convenient. Bring some snorkel gear and you can see a lot of fish just around the resort itself. That part was great! Overall, we had a great vacation and would recommend this resort.

Enjoyable Stay

I have stayed in quite a few Bahia Principe Resorts and this one is just as comparable aside from the rooms in need of renovations. Many people mentioned the same thing. We had no water upon checking in, phone didn't work so we went back to the desk and maintenance did resolve the problem. We had an a la carte reservation for Knife, when we arrived it was closed. 40th Birthday Trip

We traveled to this resort in January 2025 with 19 people including 8 Children ages 5 to 11. The resort over all is Large and Spacious. It never felt crowded and you could always find a Beach Chair. The resort has been renovated in some areas but lacking in others. The Food was excellent but the drinks need improvement. The kids Loved the Water Park and Large Pools. I would suggest this resort but this being our 2nd trip to this resort I would try some place different next time.

Amazing resort

We stayed on th3 grand side (friends on the luxury side). Scheduling an al carte dinner was very challenging for us (luxury no problems) an trying to schedule together we were told can't happen (by the grand side) luxury side offered to help, but there were no openings. All that to say, the buffet was never disappointing, so we didn't feel like we were missing out. Different theme every night for dinner and everything was delicious! We found it not as busy and food was just as good (sometimes better ;) ) Beaches were amazing! 2e walked to the farthest part and there was always enough shade, sun, chairs and the snorkeling was great. Our son, was in the water for hours! Rooms were great. House keeping was wonderful and there was nothing we found we needed. If you're considering booking, do it. It's an absolute wonderful.spot.

Fun Resort

Was there December, 13, it's a fun resort pros- Staff are very welcoming and friendly and helpful. Food- restaurants are good, jerk chicken by the pool and down at the beach awesome, buffet just ok can improve on the food and more choices. Entertainment from the pool to the theater was great the sports bar is a great place to unwind and the terrace as well good music to relax to. Nothing to write home about

If you have not been to an all inclusive before then this place may not disappoint. However, if you have previous experiences of an inclusive then you may be disappointed - limited beach, sub par nightly entertainment, and staff willingness to support while on vacation is sub par. Also, important to be aware that locals are able to purchase day passes to access the resort and they lack the social awareness and were very rude to other guests in the resort. Nothing 5 star about this hotel!!

I recently stayed at the Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica in Runaway Bay and had a generally okay experience. The hotel boasts absolutely stunning outdoor grounds, meticulously maintained and perfect for a relaxing stroll. The lush greenery, beautiful landscaping, beach areas and inviting pools truly create a serene atmosphere. Additionally, the staff was consistently friendly and eager to assist, which added a welcoming touch to our stay. Overall, the food quality unfortunately fell short of expectations. The food was satisfactory, but not exceptional, limiting our dining options further. There were a few issues during our stay that detracted from the overall experience. The lack of air conditioning in common areas made it uncomfortable at times, especially during hotter parts of the day. The wifi was spotty/ did not work at all in some areas of the hotel. Also, due to the tv being apart of the wifi system, when the wifi had an issue during our stay the tv did not work for 4 days. Some repairs around the hotel seemed unfinished(very rushed work), and the overall aesthetic of the property wasn’t as modern as one might expect for the 5 star price. We also encountered a couple of roaches in the eating area and hallways, which was very concerning. The hallways themselves are open to the air, so when it rained, they would get wet, which was inconvenient and potentially hazardous. Despite these drawbacks, I do believe there is room for improvement in a few key areas to ensure that the hotel fully lives up to its potential. The hotel is marketed as a five-star establishment; however, considering all of the above, it fell short of expectations and seemed to be more of a 2 star experience.

Nice resort

This hotel is very nice, but have some problems with the elevators, sometimes do not work and one time we had blackouts. Also in the hotel corridors people leave always plates with food on the floor, that they bring to the room and leave it out with leftovers food. The food at the buffet is good and there is a lot of variety.

Mediocre resort

Rooms were not clean properly. There was hair in the sink stained on the bed linens and the AC was not working in our room. Then after showering there was water leaking from the shower lights and on the wall and ceiling in the room. We asked to be moved and they were going to put us in a room with lots of mold on the ceiling. Food at the main buffet area was always cold. Good resort

The grounds were spacious and well maintained. There was a large variety of food and it was good. The fresh juices were occasionally watered down. The staff were good and courteous. The service was extremely slow for check in and other requirements at the front desk. The room service was bad. For every service there were different staff. Therefore much time was spent chasing for sevice.

High expectations

Disengaged staff and poor dining experiences really hindered our stay and our experience. Without a reservation to a restaurant, there was only 1 place to eat dinner, and the food was bland, and poorly made. We expected much more from the largest resort in the carribean.

Great resort

Food was good in all spots. The resort was a lot of fun. The bartender and service around the resort was very easy for us top notch. They made Canadian Ceasar drinks. Maybe only issue there were a lot of kids and big groups maybe not for all but it didn't bother us.
