Good resort

The resort was beautiful & most of the staff were excellent. There are a couple of problems. To many locals are being allowed on the resort. There management needs to improve. Also the Riu resorts do not take American dollars. Very upset. Will not return to that particular resort.

Mostly good but some issues

Pros: The hotel is beautifully. The staff amazing. Everything was spotless… they were constantly cleaning. Food was very good. Specialty restaurants were excellent Cons: The entertainment was terrible. There were a couple shows that were good but they were once a week. The local bands were great… everyone up dancing! But again twice a week. The other nights there was nothing. Every Friday there is a big RIU party but it is next door at the Jalisco. Extremely crowded… no sea [... read more]ts… more like a rave for teens but there were as many older couples as there were 20’s and there was nothing planned for us. Some boring evenings Lack of restrooms near the pools and no restrooms in any of the restaurants. It was a long walk to the closest washrooms Elevator in our area was out of service three times while we were there which involved a lot of extra walking and stairs… we have mobility issues so it was a big problem. Lack of consistency with bartenders. Some were great and some you had to tell them how to make a drink. Hit and miss! The pool water was like a bath. I know it was hot there but the water was not refreshing

Review of Riu Vallarta

This hotel was very nice. The lobby was beautiful and the grounds very fabulous. My room was very nicely decorated and very roomy. The food was terrific. The buffet had a lot of variety and had dishes that could be enjoyed by all. The other restaurants were also very good, particularly the Italian cuisine. The proximity to the ocean was really a plus and the beach was beautiful. The staff went over and above to make all our party comfortable and happy. Great value for money. Great food with many options. Lots of activities day and night. Service was fair not great but like Canada they probably don't have enough staff. Liquor is crappy but that is due to price point it is not a high end resort. Awesome for families. So for couples I would prob choose elsewhere with better booze and service but for groups and families its great and awesome value

Riu Vallarta great stay

Riu Vallarta is our favorite resort and employees are there always helpful. I would like send thank you especially to Sheff of restaurants - Mr. Roque, Miss Gardenia Ramos - Public Relations and Miss Nayeli - Customer Service. They are great representatives of Riu resort. They not just make our vacation beautiful thank you their help, but also these people make our vacation unforgettable. Entertainment group with David and Ricardo is like always great. Awesome !!

The Riu Vallarta is an awesome resort !! Just got back on Monday May 30 2022 and had a great time!!! The resort was very clean, had friendly staff, amazing buffet, and housekeeping was fantastic !! Every night had entertainment that was also suitable for kids !! I recommend booking here for all ages !!

Excellent resort

the upgrades over the past year and a half have improved the esthetics of the resort. staff are very friendly and helpful. from the moment you walk in the door, marco polo, was as friendly as ive ever had in PV to Eli and Karen in the buffet restaurant were exceptional. it was a pleasure not having to book a reservation for the a la carte four restaurants.

Beautiful resort!

The hotel was modern, well kept, clean. Staff was friendly and excellent. The grounds were nice and there were nice pools as well. It was a wonderful beach to walk on and to float in the ocean. Showers were not hot though only lukewarm barely. The PCR test was booked at noon and we waited in line 1.5 hours which was a long prime to stand around at noon. That is not really their fault except they had 1 nurse for a planeful of people. Still a fantastic holiday!

Perfect resort!

The full renovation to this resort is wonderful! The rooms are modern and energy efficient, there is plenty of space for all the guests, we never felt crowded, or felt like we had to wait too long for anything. The serving staff were very courteous and helpful, and deserve more tips than we saw being left! Love the new a la carte system! Put your name down, take a pager, and go have a drink and watch the dinner time entertainment. There is always space at the beach or around the 4 pools, and ple [... read more]nty of shade or sun options. The new pool bar takes perfect advantage of the sunset view, and it’s hard to leave! Like any other all inclusive I’ve been to, I wish the house wine selection was a little better. Would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family.

Great Resort

Hotel was newly renovated. Grounds were freshly manicured and kept prestige at all times. Rooms were very clean [Not all rooms had new furniture - Junior suite - new bathroom but old furniture, and the standard room - new bathroom and new furniture]. Food was standard buffet but pretty good.

Fantastic Time at Riu

For my first trip out of the country, I was amazed by the food, service, room and the city itself. We were greeted kindly always and felt as if we were at home. I miss my trip and am planning to go back.

Absolutely AMAZING resort

We had the best trip of our lives at this resort. Everything was phenomenal. The entertainment was top notch, every single night and day there was something new and exciting. Drinks were made to perfection and all the food was absolutely delicious especially breakfast!! Thankyou to the staff who made our trip so special, they all deserve the best!

A+ For Effort

The staff were all friendly & acommodating overall. The variety of food offered would please anyone, however I found it to be a little plain. The pool area was nice but the beach was great. The entertainment was your standard menu

Amazing as Expected!

We have done 2 RIU in the past, Aruba & Punta Cana. This one is just as gorgeous if not more. We enjoyed the service, amenities, food, hoisekeeping, etc... Despite the beach was a bit wavy and cold for swimming, we certainly enjoyed the 7 nights there. Hopefully, the upcoming renovation will bring this establishment to a higher level! Keep up the good work!

Good resort

Small resort. Overall things are clean and nice and comfortable. Room was clean . kinda old. door lock was old style key, not smart badge.a bit challenging to open the door. Mattresses are ok , not so comfy though. delicious foods but repetitive. night entertainments ok , not so interesting. Beach was nice. but NO shades at the beach!!? only some palm trees here n there. so we were chasing the shades all the time .lol

great service ..nice staff always willing to help you great choices for the food love the rooms love the design of pool one pool for adults and another for kids they have different themes at night for entertenments

Resort that will make you to return

We liked almost everything in this resort:the art deco style it is decorated in, reception(check-in/out took a couple of minutes). Staff is super friendly & helpful, no problems with English. Rooms and grounds are clean, frig is supplied daily. Washrooms are a bit dated and need renovation, be aware there is only soap & shampoo/shower gel supplied. Food satisfies everybody's taste & you can find something to eat & drink 24/7(no straws for drinks supplied anymore). There is no problem with beach lounges but the shade is only from tall palm trees which is not enough unless you want to fry in open sun. We saw people bringing their own umbrellas or you can rent them from the locals. Entertainment was good, every night live music shows & performances. Definitely would recommend this hotel.

Fantastic Resort

Cons - Not enough public restrooms - Housekeeping came very late in the day, like 3:45 pm and later. Pros- Food was great, my favorite was most of the meat, pasta, ice cream and desserts. Drinks - Wide varity available, tasty. Pools - Good size, with 16 build in lounge chairs and at least 6 booths with table and seats. Ocean was fantastic, not to rough. Great resort

We just returned from our second visit to Riu Vallarta. As the first time this trip was very good . The weather was great, service very good, rooms clean,food was even better than our first time there. We ate at the buffet most meals and always found the food very tasty. Grounds are kept up nicely always staff cleaning . Entertainment was a lot of fun during the day and the shows at night pretty good.
