Great hotel

Hotel, beach,waterfront, and staff where all excellent except the food was very bad. The leftovers seemed like they were served the following day and the exact same meals were served everyday. Very little choices to choose from. Food was not five star. Many people at resort same same thing. For this reason I would not recommend this Hotel.

What a disappointment Advertised 4 restaurants 3 bars etc etc. No there is one place for breakfast and one for lunch. The dinner is either buffet or al a cart only available 2 times a week. The buffer was disgusting, please look at pictures. The same items all the time . Brown lettuce floating in water is the norm. And only one bar., open at any time. No choices.

Beautiful resort

The room was spacious with lots of storage and cupboard space. The ocean view balcony was the highlight! Loved sitting out in morning enjoying a coffee. Food was good but we were disappointed that the Italian restaurant is no longer operating. Also the Sunset bar has been closed. The beach seemed smaller than it appeared on YouTube videos that we had watched. We found the days to be long as there were no activities offered. Perfect resort if you just want total relaxation.

A nice relaxing destination

This is a very nice resort. Small, only about 150 rooms, very close to the ocean so you can have the surf lull you to sleep if you choose. It was an hour drive from the Sumana airport. Our room was in the smaller separate building. Our room was well appointed and clean with a balcony looking out over the ocean. The elevator was out of order for the first few days but the staff brought our bags up for us and it really wasn't an issue. The grounds are lovely and nicely landscaped. The prope [... read more]rty has several stair cases and would not be suitable for people in wheelchairs or with severe mobility issues, although there were folks with walking sticks and canes who seemed to manage. The pool area was very nice with lots of lounges so it was never necessary to "reserve" or "hold" a chaise lounger. There was music playing at the pool and was not too invasive most of the time. I expect if I had asked it would have been turned down to a lower volume. There was no animation or games around the pool side and it made for a relaxing atmosphere. There really is little to do at the hotel, but relax in one of the seating areas or around the pool, or on the beach. I might have enjoyed a game of bingo or something in the afternoon to break up the day, but it would need to be somewhere away from the pool area as to not disturb the other guests. There were musicians playing at the lobby bar most evenings from 8-10pm and some of the guests enjoyed some spontaneous dancing to the music. There was a small gym on the premises with some good universal weight machines, treadmills, boxing stuff, and yoga mats. I would have liked a thicker gym mat to do exercises on but there was enough stuff there to get in a work out. We were warned not to walk out of the property on the road, and we were disappointed as we like to explore. There was good reason for the warning as the road has no sidewalks or even shoulders and the traffic is busy enough to make it dangerous to walk. We saw no one walking on the road, not even the local people. For $20US each way you could order a cab to the nearest town, which was the port for cruise ships and geared to tourists. The road can be noisy, as it is a main road with all types of traffic during the day, including large trucks, but we had an ocean view room and it was not an issue for us. The wine included at the buffet was quite bitter/sour to me and I wouldn't recommend it. The wine in the a la cart restaurants was very nice. There was one bar open all day, either near the pool area or in the lobby. These were never too busy. The biggest concern we had was with the temperature of the food on the steam tables in the buffet. For the first 5 days most of the food was not in the safety zone where bacteria cannot grow."Hot foods should be held at 140°F or warmer. On the buffet table, keep hot foods hot with chafing dishes, slow cookers and warming trays. Cold foods should be held at 40°F or colder." We noticed that most of the guests were keeping away from the cooked meat dishes on the buffet and this could have been the reason. The was a grill at all times and so you could get freshly cooked omelettes at breakfast and cooked to order fish and meats at dinner. Except for the concerns above, there was a good assortment of nice food at every meal, and we never had any stomach issues. We enjoyed our stay, as I said it is a very nice, quiet hotel. The staff were attentive and nice to deal with. There were no drunk or obnoxious guests, there were people who were seniors and younger people as well. It was quiet at night, and a nice to place to chill out.

Amazing Resort, NOT

I had high expectations when i was tasked with booking our holiday I chose this resort because it looks good from far nestled in a picturesque mountain the waters looked so calm in this picture the beach looks also like it continues let me stop here because I'm making it sound incredible I also watched a video from the general manager saying how it was your choice how you wanted to stay here "Bed and Breakfast", A lacarte or all Inclusive which was the more expensive option we chose all incl [... read more]usive Well all inclusive didn't even include your basic liquor. I will say that all of the staff was amazing front desk, dining room staff, bar tenders, maids, lifeguards, grounds crew Food was ok buffet was repetetive not many choices but always found something to eat It reminded me of Cuba only more expensive

Amazing Resort

This resort was wonderful. Very clean room and washroom. This was great for us. The service, the food, the pool the gym and beach was wonderful. In all the resort was very clean. The staff were wonderful. We spent most of our time at the pool. The only downfall is there was lots of stairs to climb at the hotel. Going downstairs for the meals,the pool and the beach. But it's good exercise. There was 2 restaurants to have meals and also à la carte meals. Very quiet hotel. Entertainment in the l [... read more]obby/reception/bar every night. We would go back to this resort.

Great resort

Everything met or surpassed our expectations. Clean rooms stocked daily with soft drinks, beer. Even our little coffee bar. Nice pool area and even the beach was inviting. Great variety and plenty of food. Servers very polite and pleasant. Downside for some would be stairs. If you have mobility issues, this may be a problem. And 1 hour bus ride to airport.

Nice Resort

Enjoyed the room and surroundings. Nice and quiet resort. Staff was always friendly even with the language difference. Food was good sometimes not as hot as you would like but still edible. Only thing i did not like was the almost all inclusive. Signing for drinks everytime was a pain and having no wine for dinner unless you bought the whole bottle was wrong. Just go back too all inclusive.

Beautiful location and nice but small beach. Food and drink needs improvement. We've been to better Bahia resorts

Food and drink: -Too little choices, in a week time you'll repeat the meals. -À la carte meal for lunch with limited options at no extra cost for almost all inclusive package was inconvenient -No snacks available between mains meals -If you need coffee in between meals, no way you can get one until 4pm when lobby bar opens! -Dinner starting at 7pm is a bit late -Check out at noon, no more food after that. We had to pay late check out in order to have lunch. We arrived at 8:30pm and left  [... read more]at 4:30pm, not even a full 24 hour cycle. Even so, we weren't granted lunch for free. First time this happens in our 15 years going South. -Annoying the fact that you have to sign for every single drink you have, even a soda! Pool Water paddles here and there and we've seen people slipping and falling due to that

Peaceful resort

Hotel was lovely lots of steps but we loved it. Beach was small but private and we enjoyed the quietness. Food was fine some food could have been hotter. Perfect views of the ocean and you can watch the whales breach whilst sipping a cocktail.

Amazing resort

This hotel was great place for a vacation, it was clean, great service, staff was great provided everything that we needed with buffet, lunch and supper. The beach was perfect, very private area. Our room had the perfect view of the ocean, sunsets were incredible.

Peaceful Haven

As we have been here twice i will give you the Pros and cons of this resort Pros Staff, Wendy, Jajihra, Rosa and Ana Quality of drinks Rooms View Small size means less crowds Quiet and safe area of the D.R. Beautiful Resort

Hotel very clean Grounds are Imaculate and lush Pool spotless The view is spectacular Staff is so seeet and nice but if you don’t speak Spanish just put your phone on translate they love to learn English too We had our first experience with partially all inclusive The breakfast was great and the lunches ordered on the deck were amazing with fresh fruits and guacamole We missed alacarte because we are used to booking these over the years of our travels and they have closed those restaur [... read more]ants. Very relaxing vacation

We had a very relaxing vacation at Samana. Pros: *outstanding views from anywhere on the resort property *nice rooms and great maid service *excellent drinks *small resort with no congestion, lots of chairs and palapas *small beach, but perfect for swimming and lounging *friendly staff *restaurants are located strategically for amazing ocean views *lots of sitting areas with amazing views of the ocean *rela [... read more]xing pool area with nice selection of low key music, plenty of sitting areas Cons: *a lot of stairs; elevator for room levels, but you cannot avoid stairs to the buffet, pool or beach *staff were acommodating when qued, however a little slow to identify people's needs ahead of time; language barrier was an issue *variety of food was limited; buffet for dinner was very repetitive and the only option for dinner *no wine inclusion (only sold by the bottle)

We absolutely enjoyed our 7 day stay at this amazing boutique! From our arrival to departure, we were impressed with the room, staff, food, private beach, pool, cabanas and water view!! Service by staff was always attentive and professional. We can’t wait to return ?

Unique

Loved the location of the hotel. It definitely has lots of character & is very comfortable and clean. The scenery is very lushuous and green. The ocean is right in front of you. Loved hearing the sound of the waves every night. The staff we're very professional & friendly. The food & drinks we're delicious! I would highly recommend this place as your stay for the week. Very beautiful!! 🥰

A great experience

With Nicole we were able to enjoy a great vacation at a great resort. Nicole was able to ensure any room arrangements were set properly. We had questions about transportation to and from the resort. Nicole answered the questions very quickly and follow up. To ensure there was no issues. Great pleasure working with here.

Checked All the Boxes

Right from being picked up at the airport on our arrival to check in, it was a breeze! The hotel staff were very attentive, friendly and catered to our every need! The food was great, the rooms were spotless, in fact the entire hotel was VERY clean. After not going away for 6 years, it was a pleasant experience!
