Resort was lovely. All staff greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome. Food was fantastic except one night we had to wait one hour for a pizza. There was a mix up in the room, we had paid for a room with two double beds and when we got to the room there was only one king size bed. They tried to give us a cot but told them that we paid for 2 doubles and this was not acceptable. After many phone calls they found us a room with 2 double bed. Other that a mix up in the room and waiti[... read more]ng for a pizza I was completely satisfied and would certainly recommend this resort to friends.

Nice resort overall.
First time staying at Dreams Royal Beach, we were in the preferred club with a suite (double the size of a standard room) which cost a bit more, but was really nice. The Preferred section is however quite far from the beach and most restaurants, so if you like walking, great. Otherwise there are golf carts that will take you all over the resort. The preferred section has just been completely renovated and is tiptop. There is a wonderful walking bridge over a lake that will take you to the main r[... read more]esort lobby, lots of birds, turtles, and even an iguana or two to try and spot.
The restaurants were on the small side, which usually meant waiting to get a table at any of them, but no reservations were required save for the seafood restaurant. The buffet was definitely smaller with less food options than what we're used to, but the food was adequate. Staff are great.
One thing that really irked my wife and I was the loud music everyday, even at the preferred club poolbar, in what should be the relaxing part of the resort. And at some times it wasn't even enjoyable music, hard rock and heavy metal are not what we want to hear when we come back from the beach and want to relax on our balcony a bit before dinner. I called our butler to ask the bar staff to turn down the music and re-examine their song choices to something more in line with a Caribbean vacation, which was accommodated quickly. Thank you Emmanuel!
Towels are not an issue. There's tons of them everywhere, no card required, use as many as you like. Beach chairs/Pool chairs are in somewhat short supply, get up early if you want to claim your spot for the day. Towels will be removed by staff from unattended chairs if someone else complains they can't find a spot. This did create a few uncomfortable instances where someone who went for breakfast returned to their seats and found someone else sitting there. My suggestion is to bring something more than towels, such as a book, hat, beachbag, suntan lotion, etc. to leave at your chairs if you plan to be away from them for a bit. Make your chairs look "lived in". I was up every morning at 7 am, grabbed some chairs on the beach, left some low-value personal items and never had an issue with losing our spot.
The beach was excellent, not a rock anywhere, just sand, sand, sand. Awesome. Seaweed gets cleaned up daily with a tractor.
Overall I would recommend. It was a nice vacation. In comparing it to the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana (which we've stayed at 6 times, and love) I'd have to say they're on par. Each has different strengths and weaknesses, but for the money, you'll enjoy Dreams Royal Beach.

Living the Dream
We had an amazing time at the Dreams Royal Beach Resort. The staff is extremely polite and welcoming. The amenities are very clean and it lacks for nothing. We had the chance to stay in the Preferred Club section and it was definitely a level of care and attention that we had not previously felt at other similar Caribbean resorts. The Preferred Club gives you the service of a dedicated butler and we were very well served by Natali who was attentive to all our requests during our stay. The server[... read more]s are extremely professional, special mention to Nelson M. and Leonardo for their attentive service and the magnificent Esteban at Asian Fusion. A last word on their 2 tennis pros, Francis and Marcos, they bring such enthusiasm to what they do and the clay courts are superb to play on. We would definitely come back, we felt right at home from the moment we walked in.

We cannot think of a single complaint. The resort was beautiful. The grounds and the rooms were always very clean. The staff was friendly and hospitable. They had a lot of different activities but nothing too intrusive. Just an overall fantastic experience.

Enjoyable time
Dreams Royal Beach is a good resort all around, with a well kept grounds and nice layout, most beautiful at night. Resort was at capacity, but it never felt crowded. Our room was regular, but was big enough and everything was working well, with a daily stock of beer and drinks. Checking in was quick, as well as the checking out. Service at buffet was always good and we never had to wait for being seated. Food had a good selection and the space was clean and pleasant. Service at bars was also qui[... read more]ck and with a smile.
Entertainment was a bit of a let down, but being a non adults only resort it may be understood.
COVID times may be behind us, but the sanitizer stations are present everywhere for peace of mind.
Beach is wide and has plenty of lounge chairs and never had to fight for getting one at any time. Towels were not in shortage or worn out. Seaweed is a constant problem they fight by raking it with a tractor every couple of hours or so.

Terrible Resort
We did not stay at the Dreams Royal, we were at Dreams Palm Beach, Punta Cana.
This resort fooled us into thinking we were "Preferred Club" when actually everyone was at the same level. The resort itself as far as the grounds go was nice. But the rooms were very dated. This resort is not wheelchair friendly. To call a resort wheelchair friendly one must be in a wheelchair. Your staff needs to be more aware of this. We feel very deceived, by Trip Central. My husband chair which is a small chai[... read more]r would hardly fit the door to our room. The coffee maker did not work in our room first morning, so called room service but they do not serve coffee. I was told to go to CoCo Cafe to get our own coffee. So much for "Preferred Club". 2 of the restaurants were on the second floor. There is no access to the beach, if you are in a wheelchair. The maids did a great job cleaning the rooms, and the resort in general. We did like the food for the most part. The employees worked hard to please everyone.
Had to get the door to our room fixed to get the door open as wide as it would go. Also had to have the toilet fixed twice.
There are no grab bars in the shower, we had to bring a plastic table from outside for him to sit on in the shower.
We had never stayed at a Dreams Resort, so we thought this was going to be so special, but we were very very disappointed. (What a big lie)
I will book from now on directly with the airline, because I have been disappointed beyond what I could have imagined. We spoke to many people there that were in wheelchairs, they had all the same complaints. If there was a ramp to a restaurant or bar there was no way to get through the big heavy glass doors.
This resort is only good for people that can walk on their own.
We feel tricked, deceived, fooled!
We travel quite a bit, so we are not new to this sort of travel.
I do not blame Susan Snider for this, as she can only tell customers what the resort tells her. We'll the resort lied. Also it is common knowledge on the resort that the resort is closing and being sold as of the end of the year. We heard it was being torn down.
Sorry to be so harsh, but our reality was harsh.

A top resort!
The design of the resort was amazing and easy to navigate through. The preferred option was very good which included a separate beach area. Restaurants were very good and people were friendly. Only one restaurant, in my opinion needed some improvement in the food and service but overall a great experience. Will definitely go back in the future.

Relaxing Family Vacation
Travelled as a family of 5. Stayed from Oct 23 to 30th. If you’re reading this review and you’ve already booked; relax, you will have a great time! If you are reading this review, trying to decide whether to book, then please continue to read!
Pros – We upgraded to Preferred Club upon arrival. Travelling as a family, this was a PRO! We were assigned Roberto as our personal concierge and he was amazing. We used WhatsApp to communicate which alleviated the need for us to having to contact[... read more] the 'front desk' with any questions/concerns. We were able to navigate the resort and access a variety of amenities easily by sending Roberto a message! He responded immediately and was always available to help! Another huge Pro of Preferred Club was the Seaside Grill restaurant. Available to preferred members only for breakfast and lunch it was a lovely spot! We had breakfast there every day! All staff at the Seaside are awesome but a special shout out to Luis who went above and beyond.
Preferred club room placement was nice, we were in the center facing the pool, rooms 5249 and 5253.
The resort was spotless, staff was friendly. They take Covid measurements very seriously and we felt safe! There were some exceptional staff we’d like to mention: Louisa in the Sports Bar, Jose at the Cabana, Cristian – bartender and Raul at Fusion.
Room was super clean. Housekeeping was fantastic. Turndown service a nice touch!
All restaurants have QR codes that you scan as you enter (usually on the tables as well). There are no paper menus.
The lazy river pool concept was great! We brought floaties with us. There is a pump, free of charge to use at the beach hut (they also sell floaties there but bring your own if you can).
Beach was clean, resort staff friendly, engaging and kind! The activities team tried to get people to participate but they weren’t pushy! The vendors walking the beach were pushy but a ‘no thanks’ seemed to do the trick for most of them.
Beach Cabana – Amazing!! What a way to spend the day😊
Cons – Food. I hate to say but the food was quite disappointing. There is always something to eat; you will never go hungry but if you’re a foodie and/or food is an important part of your trip, I wouldn’t recommend Dreams Royal Beach for this reason. Specifically, the buffet was not a good experience and we tried to avoid it. Possibly it was expectations? I thought Dreams would be comparable to Moon Palace or Bahia Principe resorts in terms of choices/quality of the buffet. Even though I read reviews claiming the buffet to be small, I thought people were just nitpicking. I realize now, they weren't. Options in buffet were limited and for all the amazing organization in other aspects of this resort, the buffet is seriously lacking. The couple times we went, lineups were long and disorganized as there were only one or two staff trying their best to serve everyone. Once Covid protocols are lifted, the staff being required to serve at the buffet won’t be an issue, but until that happens, management needs to address this. Food in the restaurants was good in comparison to the buffet. Some items at some restaurants were fantastic but unfortunately, it wasn’t consistent.
Drink service at both the pool and beach were spotty at best. This was not an issue for us; we don’t mind walking up and grabbing a drink and there were bars everywhere, you never had far to go but if you are expecting to be waited on for drink service, you will be disappointed.
Entertainment – Shows were decent, not fabulous, but good! They have both an 'Explorer's Club' for smaller children and a ‘Core Zone’ teens club for tweens/teens. They seem to do a lot with smaller kids, but not so much with the tween/teen age group. This was a huge disappointment as one of the main reasons I booked with Dreams was the Teen Club and activities. Possibly there just wasn’t a lot of teens while we were there, but there were no activities scheduled for teens. The staff at the Core Zone did not engage at all and it was more of a ‘babysitting’ vibe as they didn't interact.
There were these fun little pop-up things daily (a dessert bar on the lawn, chess/dominos in the theatre) but I have no idea how you’d find out about them. We seemed to stumble onto them. It would have been nice to know about them. We scanned the QR code and had the daily activities on our devices, but clearly, we were missing something.
In room Showers – there are no doors or fans. Every time someone had a shower the entire room was steamed up for quite some time and the floor was soaked. The bathroom was esthetically pleasing but not functional.
We had a very nice time. This resort is spotless, the staff is friendly and engaging. The beach is beautiful, and the activities are fun! It was an enjoyable family vacation during a global pandemic.

Great Staff
Staff was pleasant and helpful. The resort was clean and they did a great job at making us feel like they were taking every precaution for Covid. The food was average and as someone who can not eat gluten, I was limited on what I could eat. There was complete confusion on what I could eat at the buffet by all of the staff so I wasn't able to enjoy lunch. The restaurants in the evening were able to accommodate. The entertainment was very disappointing. Also, the pool bars we closed on the poolsid[... read more]e of the bars. Booking our covid test to return to Canada was difficult and they didn't think they would have time even though we booked as soon as we arrived and were not able to book until we got to the hotel. A few days later they were able to fit us in early in the morning two days before our flight and said we'd have our results by the next day at 6 pm. We didn't get them until 8 am of the day we were leaving. Everything worked out, but it was very stressful which isn't what you want your vacation to be.

Relaxing vacation
We were at the Now Larimar in March 2020 and our stay was wonderful. We upgraded from the Garden to the Larimar section as we prefer being closer to the beach. The resort is beautiful! The pools, the grounds, the beach, the super friendly people, everything from this place is amazing. The food was delicious, even the buffet : so much variety to choose from. The resort is very clean and we felt very secure here. Something for everybody : lots of activity at beach, i.e. kayak, parasailing, sailboa[... read more]ts, etc. The only strange - awkward thing is that the preferred pool is placed in the middle of main traffic path to get to the buffet or plaza.Would have no problems recommending this resort.

Beautiful spot
We returned from our vacation at the Now Larimar rested and relaxed. There are a few things that could have made our stay better. Three days in a row, I asked for water with my breakfast. Three days in a row, I didn’t get any water. Breakfast is a buffet, so after the waiter brings coffee, they just stand around. It was very frustrating. Our breakfast waiter, the same one for the whole week, was extremely pushy on our last day for a good review on trip central, to the point of taking our frien[... read more]ds phone to do the review himself. Wow!
The second thing would be the smell at the Now Garden pool bar. Whether you were at the main bar or down at the swim up bar, you would often get a whiff of vomit. It was rather gross.
Lastly, if you are scent sensitive, Now Larimar would be a concern. In the lobbies and main washrooms, the scent was nauseating. It was extremely strong and the 1st day you think it smells fresh, but as the week goes on, the scent just becomes over powering. They need to find something less over powering or not use anything at all.
All that being said everyone was friendly, the service was good, as was the food.

Very enjoyable trip
Hotel grounds, service, staff and overall quality of room was very good. Food selection and quality was superb. Fun nightly entertainment. Dance club, Casino, Kids clubs, even a indoor bowling alley is available. Very good value and would certainly recommend this hotel based on the experience our group of 10 had for a vacation.
