I would give this resort a 2.5 star and here is why...The hotel might as well not be located on the beach as the beach is NOT swimmable! Smh. Disappointment. The resort is definitely an older people resort. Older like 50+. All the doors to the rooms need to be worked on as they all look like they were kicked in at one point. We got locked out of our room at 9pm. The security had to climb the balcony to gain access to our room and let us in. The lock to the door just stopped working. The next mor[... read more]ning they moved us to a room 7 doors down. The door to the room would not LOCK! We had booked an excursion so we called down and told them to fix the door and if our things go missing while the door can not lock (because they could not fix it right away) it will be the hotels responsibility. The 3 good things about the hotel are 1. It is clean 2. Staff are nice 3. Food is good there just is not a lot of options.

We enjoyed our stay
The Royal Decameron is an older resort. It is in need of some updating. But that doesn't mean you can not enjoy yourself there, especially if you are a Canadian attempting to get away from the cold of winter.
Here are some pros. Good location. Nice beach. Very good/friendly staff. Good service. Many Canadians vacation here so you will be comfortable with the other vacationers. It is a small resort so you see the same people often. That is not a bad thing in any way.
Some cons. There should b[... read more]e an elevator that connects the 3 levels. Food is very average. Only 1 menu restaurant. Most of the staff does not speak English. Coffee is provided in the room for the first day only. The daily activities are very limited. That could be improved considerably. The night entertainment was okay. One night was spectacular (3 Tenors). Michael Jackson night was good. Other nights were mostly dancing shows.
I am going to give the Royal Decameron a rating of 3.5 out of 5.0.

Delay nightmare
We had a rough start to our vacation on December 1, 2019.
When we landed at the airport our Air Canada Representative was late which caused a lot of confusion for travellers. Then, when she finally arrived and checked our documents, we boarded a bus where we sat for almost an hour….no idea why, other than for the driver to sell beer to the passengers at $5 American per bottle. (There was also no Air Canada Representative available, at any time, at our hotel to assist with our concerns and wo[... read more]rries).
When we finally arrived at the Royal Decameron hotel the hotel staff had no idea why we were there.
The staff member could not find my name in their system anywhere, and after making a bunch of phone calls, with negative results, made me “hold†a room for a night with my Visa card, even though I had all of my paper work with me. The “ hold†was for a total of $306.50, posted to my bank account.
Not only could they not locate our reservation, they demanded photo copies of our passports even after showing them all of our documentation. This is extremely concerning to me as no one should be taking “copies†of passports and keeping them. I requested they be destroyed once the proper paperwork came through, which they said they would do. I have no way of confirming that actually happened. I am always extremely concerned of fraud and identity theft both here in Canada and when we travel as I am a government employee, who deals with fraud cases involving identify theft on a daily basis.
My partner and I travel frequently and have never faced anything like this. One of the reasons we chose this trip was for the amazing flight times provided by Air Canada. Our plan was to be on the beach and enjoying the beautiful weather by noon. Instead, due to all of the unnecessary hold ups and reservation issues, our actual vacation time was delayed for several hours.
Although that may seem unimportant, to us, it was extremely important since our last day at the resort we had to catch our bus back to the airport at 8:00 a.m. ….
I have no idea what went wrong and at what level of the booking process our information was delayed. All I know is that this is not how I wanted, or expected, my vacation to begin.
On Dec. 2, 2019, our second day at the resort, we met with the front desk at 11:00 a.m. in order to see if they had our paperwork come through. There we waited again for approximately 45 minutes for them to finally tell us all was in order. The $306.50 was reimbursed, which has not been confirmed yet as it is still showing as pending in my account.
On a positive note, the resort itself was lovely. The staff was amazing, the resort very clean, and the food was excellent. I have zero complaints when it comes to that. I would definitely recommend the Royal Decameron to my friends and family and would easily give it a 4.5 star.

Great resort!
We had a very pleasant week. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate at the buffet which was great food however wouldn’t recommend the al acarte. The wait to get served was very long and the food was mediocre. The hotel was very clean. If you like a small resort this is a good choice.

Very Nice Resort, Amazing Food, Amazing Service
We really liked the hotel as it was relatively small. The facilities were very acceptable to our needs, and the staff, service and food, especially at the Luna restaurant, made our stay especially memorable. There were lots of Beach and pool-side chairs available .... never a problem getting seating anywhere. The staff were so friendly ... we got to know many by name. Excellent, Excellent stay.

Our home base resort
This was the 1st year I didnt get the room I had reserved. In fact they gave it away to the wrong couple. We ended up getting an ocean view but the room was next to a building and we could hear the generator all day and night. Hoping next year this doesnt happen again.
Had a great time at this hotel.enjoyed the smallness of the hotel, proximity to San Jose, shopping across the street and wonderful beach.Food was excellent with a good variety.Went on the Plus Program and were very happy with our room, the fact that we could have breakfast on the beach everyday and didn’t require reservations to the A La Carte supper. The staff was excellent in all areas of the hotel. It fit all our needs.

Resort el disappointment
We were very disappointed in this resort Royal del Cameron. The first room we were in reminded us of a low grade hotel the door looked like it was kicked in a few times and very dull and worn out. We were only in the room for about 10 minutes and starting hearing lots of yelling in the hallway from the drunks who were partying and it was only 6pm. We asked to be moved to a quiet room which they did and the noise started again about 11pm outside and until about 2am or later again from all the dru[... read more]nks who were yelling and screaming. This resort has nothing but steps up and down everywhere and was not suitable for myself and my wife as we were in a automobile accident before we arrived. The food was awful to say the least. The staff was very helpful and polite but because the resort catered mostly to the party animals we had to upgrade to a much better resort and get out of there as quickly as possible. I would not recommend this resort if you are looking for relaxation or don't want to climb loads of stairs to get anywhere in this place steer away from going there. Also if you are a non smoker well people smoke everywhere in this resort and that was another turn off. I would rate this resort as a 2 or 3 star as best nothing more. Will not return and this is no 4 or 4.3 star resort buyer beware.

Great food but...
The hotel was clean and well maintained. There were lots of available pool and beach chairs. The servers and cleaning staff were great. However I was unaware of the premium option. There were areas of the hotel that were not available to non premium guests. The fee to upgrade seemed to high for the extended options. So we missed out on the rooftop pool and did have to pay a fee for wifi. There was entertainment nightly though we choose to give it a miss mostly. All in all a very quiet resort wit[... read more]h very good food.

Don’t waste your money
We decided to go to Royal DeCameron, Los Cabos as we have been to same hotel in PV on a few occasions and quite enjoyed it and felt that it had some Mexican Charm to it so thought the Los Cabos resort would be similar.
Check in was easy with great front end staff. No problems there.
Got to our room, unpacked and went to have shower. The shower head was just hanging from wall with water ‘dribbling’ out of it. Balcony door lock was also hanging loosely and would not lock. Went to mai[... read more]n reception to ask for another room. No problem. They had someone take us to a new room to check it out before we moved which was great. Our question was why they would put guests in a room they knew was not functional? The bonus with the new room is we could sit out on our balcony and watch the nightly show which was located in our section of hotel.
Maid service was good but after a week we actually had to go reception to ask for a sheet change as it appears they only did it when you left ( we were there for 2 weeks).br />
Pool(s) were not heated. Four days there was no-one in the pools because they were too cold. Of course you could not swim in ocean due to undertow. Beach vendors pretty much leave you alone.
Breakfast at buffet always good...eggs, pancakes, etc. Lunch at LaLuna usually good. Buffet was just ok (we are not fussy at all but there was always something you could eat) LaLuna (the only a la carte) was hit or miss. It was like they pre-cooked the food and 50% of the time the food was stone cold. In 18 years of doing all inclusives, we have never had such terrible wine. It was foul. We had to go to the COMER store to purchase our own wine to take for dinner. We were not the only ones. You had to book La Luna by 8:00am to make a reservation every day.
The bars were not the greatest as one would close and then you would have to go to another one. There were 3 bars.
Walking around the area outside if hotel was very nice. Loved the bike lanes even though they were seldom used. Very clean streets around the area. Very pedestrian friendly.
Most of the bar tenders and servers were great. For us especially America and Rodrigo (snack/lunch servers at La Luna),Pedro also known as Junior (La Luna excellent daytime bartender), Marcelo at buffet at La Luna is a great, lovable, friendly character. Very honourable mention goes to Omar at the pool bar who is an excellent bartender and is adept at handling “overdrinkersâ€.
As there are safes in the rooms, charging extra for their use is just a money grab. WiFi, for which we paid $10 US for 1 day, sort of worked in the lobby and was so irregular in our room as to be practically useless.
I din’t Think we will ever go back to this resort nor recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful holiday
We have stayed at other Royal Decamerons, and this one is right on par with the others. Very clean resort, staff are friendly and have a good command of English. The photos shown on the various sites of this hotel's rooms and common areas are dated, and things are bit more faded and worn than advertised, but in good condition. There was plenty of variation at the buffet (but you will always get the chronic complainers) but we found it to be very good. The Westjet rep was very helpful in organiz[... read more]ing my husbands scuba diving tours, and our tour of Cabo San Lucas. The entertainment in the evening was very good. Our favorite was the Mexican history, the costumes were fantastic. This resort is not large, and is quiet after the evening show is over. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, this is your resort.

Nice resort
We really enjoyed the resort liked the low key vibe, food was good, staff were all really good! We did have one issue...Upon returning to our room to do a quick change as we had dinner plans elsewhere. When trying to get in our room keys would not work, asked a worker that was in the area if he could help so he called the desk and they asked him to have us come to the front desk, upon arriving they informed us there was a water issue and they needed us to move rooms. We weren't too happy as we[... read more] were on a time constraint but we understood and moved rooms. As being in such a rush I misplaced a couple of things so the next day I decided to knock on the door and just see if someone was working in the room. To my surprise a gentleman answered the door and was now booked in our room and from what I got from him he had been in since the evening before. Our new room was fine, not as nice as the one we were in but it was the point of their dishonesty that upset us most! Up until that point we would of revisited this resort for sure, but not so sure now?? I will say yes to recommending to a friend because everything else was fairly good. Thanks

Decent Hotel
Great small hotel. Beds are good. Food is good. Volleyball is good. The beach is for walking, not swimming. Our housekeeper gave us an extra 2 waters (4 total), go across the street to the OXO if you need more than that. Coffee it's sub-standard, but there's a Starbucks 7 minute walk out the front door. Overall... good place.

A Fun Trip
The hotel was small, as expected, but adequate. The beaches are gorgeous and perfect for long walks. The food is very good at both the buffet and outdoor restaurant. The drinks were disappointing since the mixes had an aftertaste such as artificial sweetener and the alcohol was rarely premium brands. We were not staying at the VIP Plus category and the price of $36 USD per day did not seem worth it. The staff were friendly and helped make the experience positive, especially Antonio in the restau[... read more]rant bar. The only other negative was the women's washroom by the pool has one toilet with a lid, the other had none. Good vacation for the price.

A wonderful stay at the beach of San Jose del Cabo
We went with a group of seven people. The Royal Decameron is a perfect hotel for a group of people. It is easy to find places on the beach or by the pool to settle in for the day. It is within walking distance of a small town that provides art shows and music, and it is about a half hour bus ride to the larger city of Los Cabos. The food in the main eating is really good and varies considerably from day to day. The food in the Luna Restaurant was just okay. The entertainment each evening w[... read more]as good and the three tenors were amazing. I would definitely stay there again.

Adequate Hotel
The Royal Decameron Hotel was a bit of a disappointment. There is no elevator to the rooms in the building making it difficult to carry luggage or moving between floors. Lots of stairs. I would not recommend to anyone with mobility challenges. One main dining area and another smaller eating place were too repetitive. Quality of food not very interesting. Also there are 2 levels of all inclusive. The all inclusive Plus allowed more access to hotel amenities. Did not like the idea that som[... read more]e guests are treated differently. Our room beds were comfortable and clean (no bugs). The shower was old and patched with caulking to avoid leaks. Fridge only included 2 bottles of water per day. My experience in other hotels included a full fridge of beverages. Entertainment was not very exciting. Drinks were watered down. Wine was awful. Ended up buying our own & bringing to dinner.
