Grand Bahia Principe Aquamarine

We were bumped up from Turquesa to Aquamarine all adult. The place and grounds were beautiful. The food was so good just like home.My room was so big and the bed wow, big enough for 4. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I would go back there in a heart beat. I loved the beach,nice white sand and it was so long. You could get food and drinks right on the beach.

Amazing resort

although my husband and got food poision the second day and we were flat out for two days sick in bed. the rest of our time was recovering, not eating much after this it took a tole on our bodies. the resort was beautiful and relaxing Sandy McKenna

WOW!

The resort that I went to in the 2nd week of August was Bahia Principe at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It was a beautiful resort with a lot of welcoming employees. I would definitely recommend this place to people, and the whole family enjoyed this trip brought to us by tripcentral! ;)

Greenish environment!

It would have some food at ground floor, sometime tired to go and get food from far away!! Cleaners are very good, they did good job. Don’t make same food at the dining everyday, they mention everyday different country food but looks same food everyday they given!

Amazing Resort

Very friendly staff with helpful mind. Nice and clean place, you can walk without any fear. But beach shore has lots of sea weeds in. So we are unable to go to the beach. They said this time of the year they have it,

Its was okey.

Our room was nice and spacious and clean. Food overall is okey. Most of their dishes were salty. Service in the buffet was bad. It took them 5-10 mins just to serve you a glass of water. Sometimes we had to remind them again. Its a huge resort (grand bahia it self) you can get lost if you dont pay attention. Beach is 10-15 minute walk from turquesa. Beach was very disappointing theres alot of seaweeds in the shore and in the water. We didnt get to swim in the beach alot because of it. Stayed in  [... read more]the pool most of the time but still tried to lay down and take naps by the beach under the huts. Look for IGNACIO in the lobby if you want to do an excursion he's nice and got us some good deals. SAONA ISLAND is a must to see although i was seasick the whole time the place is really beautiful. We also did the buggies i just wish there were more obstacles in the way.

Good resort

Hotel was good. So big that we got lost multiple times but overall OK. We've been to better buffet before and wasn't able to use the other resorts of the complex buffet for breakfast or dinner but the beach snack bars worked well for us for lunch. Main buffet had not a good variety of food. Beach was very crowded as we haven't seen before in any other resort but didn't bother us much. Bedrooms were cleaned every day and room service was fast when we needed. Great Resort

This is our second time at this resort it is always clean and the staff our freindly and willing to help the rooms are clean we had no ploblems with the staff cleaning our room i would recommande this resort to people

Great family spot

We stayed here with 2 young children and met other family there as well. Everybody had a great time! Great resort! Lots to do for everyone! I will not however book with Tripcentral again because the agent we used was terrible. After the initial booking, she took forever replying to my emails about hotels near the airport and didn’t come through when she said she would. I ended up booking myself.

Mixed review...

We just returned from a vacation at Grand Bahia Principe Turquesa. Overall, the vacation was fine. Escaping winter with family is always enjoyable for us. That said, I can't imagine that I would book here again. Here are some notes: Front desk: Anything you do at the front desk seems to take a decade, whether it is busy or not. Language is definitely an issue and there is little understanding of what is inconvenient for the guest. Food: Not good. If you stick to some of the freshly made things like the pasta or omelette bar you can get by. I didn't go to Punta Cana for fine dining but still was a bit surprised. The fish/seafood had a very strong taste and caused some intestinal issues for me. Service in the buffet was also not great. Sometimes we would be finished our meal before being offered something to drink. You can order only soft drinks and beer/wine in the buffet. Also with regard to food, the resort itself is the farthest from the beach. We knew this when we booked but could never have fathomed the enormity of the property. Turquesa guests can eat only at the Turquesa buffet or one other option near the beach that is open late. So, for snacks outside of meal times, that's a 10 minute trip on a trolley to the beach area (after you wait for the trolley). There are no snacks in the room (at other resorts the mini bar has included some snack foods) so this is an issue. The a-la-cartes are not much different from the buffet, but the Garden Grill was actually quite good and the Teppanyaki restaurant was a fun departure from the ordinary. Service: Very hit or miss. Some workers seemed genuinely happy to serve guests, but others seemed disgusted with their presence. Tipping wasn't very common here. We tipped frequently, but didn't notice others doing it. I think this may factor into some of the negative attitudes among workers. On the other hand, it was sometimes difficult to tip because of the division of labour. For instance, at breakfast you might interact with 4 different servers (one to seat you, one for coffee, one for other drinks, one who cleared your plates). The beach was gorgeous and the pools were a lot of fun. The kids' water park was nice as well. And in the end, if this is what you are going for and can tolerate some of the negative stuff described above, it's not bad. The property is clean and I have no complaints about the room.

Amazing Resort!!!!

Amazing! Everything was perfect! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to go away to Dominican republic!!! They excursions were great and the workers are so friendly ! Would recommend this resort to everyone!

Beautiful resort

Resort was spotless, people were friendly, never waited in line for anything. We were with a large group and we could always get chairs at the pool and beach. recommend this resort. Very good for families of all ages.

No beach

Good: location is nice, beach is nice, grounds are beautiful. Room service and rooms were good. Bad:: lets break them up as list is extensive. 1) service at bars is very poor if you are not cute girl. many times noticed how bartenders were ignoring people to flirt with girl and serve them ahead of their turn. very poor selection of drinks, no milkshakes, limited number of juices, same boring coctails everywhere. 2) internet. free is only in the loby, and not just in the loby but  [... read more]in 5 meters around the front desk. its very hard to find spot to seat so its nearly ipossible to work. if you planning to work on your vacation, dont go there or pay 80 cad per week for "deluxe" version of internet that works all over the hotel and in your room. 3) food. boring, repetative, reused (same stuff from last day under different sause). probably worst food i ever had at Bahia Principe. 4) no beach. i mean, Bahia Principe has a nice beach, but Bahia Principe Turquesa does not. In fact trip to a beach means you need to go to the loby and wait for a car for 10 minutes then drive for another 10-15 minutes to the beach. For someone its ok, but i feel we were mislead and having 7!!! hotels on 1 beach is NOT OK. Needlessly to say beach is packed, people are next to each other, in multiple layers of chairs, and if you come late, might as well give up and go to the pool. 5) prices at the shops of the hotel. a dollar for a bandaid. i mean for 1 small strip.... and thats a price at their so-called pharmacy.

Good time despite few problems.

We stayed with family at Turquesa . Previously had visited with friends and stayed at Ambar. Unfortunately great difference in cleanliness, maid service (no hand towels or washcloths or bathmat. Just bare minimum of towels. We had broken plug so no tub available despite reporting it. Great food and staff far outweighed any problems or complaints. Will return but definitely to Ambar area.

Beautiful

Perfect place. Beautiful grounds, manicured edges and luscious trees and flowers. Good food, very nice and inviting restaurants with exceptional servers. Room service very disappointing: no change of linen, dirty floors, poor lighting and an unacceptable lack of towels. Have stayed at a different part of resort previously and our experience had been fenomenal!

Great entertainment, restaurant & pool staff

The best thing about this resort is the staff. The pool area is great, but the rooms are not very clean or well stocked. Bugs everywhere- including in the beds! The floors in the villas are unswept, no shades on the lamps, and half the times the door keys don’t work!

Fabulous Resort

This resort was absolutely gorgeous the grounds are some of the nicest I’ve ever seen. The rooms were nice although we had a few issues in ours but nothing that would affect our stay. Water park and pools were amazing. Staff for the most part was very helpful. Plenty of entertainment to keep busy at night. Buffet and a la carte restaurants were great Japanese was our favourite. On a side note we travelled in a group with a child under 2 and she contracted hand, foot and mouth. I do think the  [... read more]cleaning practices of high chairs in buffet and restaurants should be reviewed as many children we found out had the disease. Overall this was an excellent choice for our first stay in the Dominican. We are already talking of another trip to the same resort next year.

Disappointed with Turquesa

Having stayed previously and been impressed with the quality of facilities and service in another Turquesa hotel in Cancun, we booked the Grand Bahia and Turquesa in our first visit to Punta Cana. From Day 1, we were disappointed with the level of service here. We were not allowed to reserve more than one Ala Carte hotel in our 5 nights stay there. No internet in the rooms unless paid! They insisted that was their policy- max 2 restaurant reservations allowed for a 5 night stay (even with 2 rooms), and they counted the Christmas-eve buffet dinner as one of the allowed two! And we had to pay for the wine there. The rooms itself were good and clean, and the beach was excellent. Overall Turquesa seemed like a poor cousin amongst the rest of the Grand Bahia properties!

Big resort with lots to do

I traveled alone with my 5 & 7 yr olds. They loved the waterpark and pools. The "kid friendly" night shows were fun, but a bit late, so after a day in the sun, the kids were really tired. The food was decent, but hard to find really "healthy" options. The resort is really big, so even though there are some shuttles, the kids complained about having to walk so far to everything when it was so hot (traveled in August). The shallow part of the water is full of seaweed, so the kids didn't enjoy the ocean and preferred the pool. Service was hit and miss. Some staff were amazing, others seemed to dislike English speaking people, so they would serve other people first. The rooms were good, but some wear and tear. They are on top of maintenance though if you have an issue. The beds were comfy and room spacious. Pool/beach towel service seemed to always be out of towels which was frustrating. Seemed to have enough beach/pool chairs in the shade to go around. The kids club was good, but kids had to be there at either 10am or 2pm to do activities outside of the center. It was far from Turquesa, so without a direct shuttle, it meant a lot of walking to get there. You also can't leave them over lunch, so you have to get them, take them to the buffet (which isn't close) and bring them back which lead to cranky kids.

One of The Best Hotel ,was Excellent great Clean we was so Happy !The pool was Great the Ocean was very Nice,the Staff was very Friendly ,the food great we going back again soon as possible ,the whether was nice No rain at all
