Overall would love to return.

Pros: - Pool on the beach with the beach bar, smoothie bar, and restaurant. - Kids area with a waterpark, so most of the other pools are child-free and relaxing. - Large pools / multiple pools for lots of options. - Easily walkable resort, taking 10-15 mins to get to each end. - Security takes their job seriously and cross-references pick-ups with room numbers and reservations. - Booking dinners and other activities through the app / on your phone was easy. - Lots of dining options, but  [... read more]be warned, the portions are small, so you still may want to hit up the buffet before or after. - There were lots of seats at both the buffet and pools; I never had to fight for a spot or reserve seating at the pool. - The staff were all friendly and helpful. Cons: - Too many people are trying to sell you things on the beach; every 5-10 minutes, you can expect to be interrupted to be sold a day trip, massage, etc. - Mosquitoes! Bring bug spray, I'm not sure if it was from the season or our room location, but the mosquitoes were not friendly. - The beach itself is small, with lots of rocks and seaweed. Bring water shoes if you want to go in the ocean. - The main lobby bar closes at midnight, and if you want drinks, you need to go to the disco.

You get what you pay for

My family and I stayed for 7 days (2 adults, 1 baby). We got a free upgrade for our room which was nice but honestly the room wasn't really upgraded. There was some rust, water pressure could have been better, mattress was not very comfortable, and the outlets were not secure, etc. One thing we liked was that the wifi was pretty fast. The main buffet was where we ate the most but it is hit or miss. It's nice that they tell you when the busiest times are before you enter the restaurant. At times [... read more] they did not restock the food fast enough to meet demand. There is a variety of other restaurants, some were first come/ first serve and some were reservation only. Note that the reservations can be done on the app but easier on the browser. We went to one of each and they were pretty good. One place we kept going back to was Mike's Coffee so we definitely recommend that. Another thing to note is there are a lot of animals that come out but as long as you don't feed them, they don't bother you. As a parent, just know it is not easy going around with a stroller at times, some of the high chairs did not have seatbelts, and the crib here is a play pen. Overall for the price it was a decent resort but I won't be coming back.

Decent Stay

This property is great for young families as they have a lot of options for kids & the water rides are something the kids enjoyed to the core. The services by the staff were excellent. The bummer points were the access to the beach as too much weed accumulation created a lot of smell around the area. Secondly, the room we were allotted had a lot of mosquitoes that created allergies on our skins but the staff was kind to clean & free the room from the bugs & insects. Very Underwhelming

The room was clean, however located right beside another resorts sewage station and construction noise. Evening entertainment was very limited and entry level. Food was acceptable but not great. There was more vultures trying to sell their privilege package than staff ensuring you were being looked after-very annoying. Front end customer service was very short and disengaged.

Stay away from the fruit

Got terribly sick last 3 days from food poisoning I believe from the fruit at the buffet:( some pools couldn’t find a lounger by 9am All restaurants except Italian a/c barely working and no fans so bring something with you! Lots of sargassum so no beach swimming

Great for families

The people are so kind and friendly! So much food!!! Beautiful presentation! Lots of free activities in this resort - by the pool during the day, bowling, ping pong, billiards, karaoke, evening shows, dancing etc. Waterpark is for kids only (no teens, no adults) If you want to be close to the buffet, Daisy is where to stay, if you want to be close to the beach, ask for Eden. Best vacation ever

This is our second time at ORP. And we will come back again for sure. Very happy with their services and the food is great. My daughter loves the kids club, we have been to other resorts and she always talks about the kids club here at the Ocean Riviera Paradise. This is her favourite kids club of all the resorts and she loves to spend time with the staff and the babysitters. The only down side of this place is the beach is a little bit rocky. But swimming shoes will help with that.

Okay

The hotel was beautiful, service could have been better. They tried to move us into a building we didn’t pay for because they overbooked and pretended they couldn’t see the building we booked when it says in the booking. Accommodation in email to have rooms together was ignored. Pools were not heated and water was cold

Really nice resort

Overall we had a great experience at this resort. The only thing is that the beach sucked. Rocks and seaweed everywhere! Really hard to get into the water because of all the rocks, and dangerous too! Service could be better. Main buffet also could use a better layout and management. The good and the bad

First the bad, the beach is just awful for swimming, not at all for children, large rocks everywhere, my 7 year old grandchild cut her foot, easy to stub toes too. We asked for a wake up call on 2 different occasions, the first time they called twenty minutes late the second time they did not call at all. Now the good, I thought the food was excellent at every restaurant we went to, the buffet could get crowded in the morning but it had so many choices of really tasty food. Amazing Resort

We booked a pool view with Trip Central unfortunately we did not get what you promised the first night. That set the stage for a very negative start, however once we had that resolved it was a very nice stay.

Great resort for families!

Loved our time there with our 10 months old, despite some minor disappointments. Would still go back for the value. Was nice to be able to walk around with the stroller for nap time. Nice staff in general. Buffet had very good food consistently. Beautiful Vacation

We truly enjoyed our stay at ORP. The grounds are stunning, and the wildlife here is a must see! We did not book any Al la carts due to the fact the line by 830 am was so long, it just wasn’t feasible with children. You have to wait in a line to book your meals in person. That being said, we ate all but one of our meals at the buffet and it was FANTASTIC. Tons of selection. We also ate at Route 66, and found the bbq was just as good as what we would find at home. We were greeted upon check in by a staff member who welcomed us to the resort and we were under the impression he was just showing us around and giving us details, turns out he wanted us to meet him for the time Share meeting the next morning. When we didn’t show up, he no longer would look in our direction or speak. Our room was beautiful, with 2 double beds and a pull out couch. Large jacuzzi tub with a stand up shower. The negatives with our room was that our Air Conditioning system did not seem to work, we called to let staff know twice and they said it was fixed but never cooled down our room. In the evenings we would come back from dinner and it would be cooler in the hallway than our room. The door in our room would not lock from the inside with the deadbolt, again we called twice but it was never fixed. Over all these were minor complaints, as we still fully enjoyed our vacation. Lots of fun for the kids - water park is perfect for ages 9 and under.

Fantastic hotel!

Everything in Ocean Riviera Paradise was fantastic. The necessary facilities were well-equipped, and the staff was friendly, plus there were good amenities. Staff were friendly towards tourists, and they also had tables for different varieties of excursions and decent USB ports to charge smartphones.

Cleanest I have ever stayed in!

The food was great in all the restaurants with enough selection to satisfy the pickiest eater. The rooms were amazingly large and comfortable. The staff unbelievably friendly and helpful. This is the second time I stayed at this resort and still not disappointed with anything. The staff appear to be constantly cleaning the public bathrooms and they did an awesome job cleaning the rooms. I am hoping to return a third time next year!

Amazing resort!

Ocean Riveria Paradise is an amazing resort. Definately recommend staying here. Food was spectacular we did not have a single bad meal. Location is amazing because you are close to downtown playa del carmen and very close to a lot of the excursions that happen in the Riveria Miya area. Service was amazing. 10/10.

Great family-friendly resort

We visited this resort with our nearly 1 year old and our 3 year old. We stayed in the Daisi hotel, right near the water park, pool, park and kids corner. This was perfect for us as our baby still takes two naps and our 3 year old also naps once per day. We were able to split up when needed and take turns staying in the room or on the balcony with our sleeping babies. The room itself was pretty outdated, and missing a mechanical inside lock to prevent our son from escaping the room. That was ann [... read more]oying, as we had to put a suitcase in front of the door as an obstacle to at least slow him down. The food at the resort was delicious. We most often frequented the buffet, as our kids were hit or miss when it came to appetite and mood, so the buffet ensured there was always something they liked and we could leave quickly if one of them had enough. The lobby was very nice and was a nice escape from the heat. I pushed my baby around in the stroller in the lobby every day to get her to fall asleep. There were many activities at night for kids, and my son participated nearly every night. The beach was not great, but we spent most of our time at the pool. This is the perfect resort for families with young kids.

Great Resort!

The food was fantastic, with plenty of options to suit everyone’s tastes. The drinks were just as impressive—we especially loved the pop-up margarita bar! The staff was incredibly friendly and patient, making our experience even better. The beach was a bit rocky, so we were glad we brought water shoes. Great resort!

Although we didn't have the best of weather, we still enjoyed the resort. We restaurants were great! Food was great! Hydro therapy was amazing! Bowling when it rained... lots to do. But I should say... the beach was hard to enjoy because of the rocks. The pools were great!

Nice resort

Ocean riviera paradise is a nice resort. We stayed in the adult only were to have a pool view but the room we ended up with was not a pool view but still worked out. Restaurants were good when open enjoyed the Japanese and route 66, steakhouse was also good. Buffet was as expected hit and miss for hot food. Entertainment was good 1 night 2 guys playing on a Monday they need to have it Thursday, Friday and Saturday with bands. For us it was too big of a resort.
