Great hotel and wonderful staff

This hotel was beautiful. Everything was so clean and the staff was awesome. The Cubans are so kind! They can’t do enough for u. The beach is beautiful and if u reserve the Level rooms they have a bar b q near the Level beach which was great. We ate at the Italian and International and both were excellent. The buffet was good but was a bit repetitive. We don’t eat seafood so that narrowed our options as well. The pools are immaculate and they have a lot of music playing at the Ted bar, Blue Nar  [... read more]and at the pool. We had absolutely no issues. Again the staff was top notch and made the trip. Trip Central made our travel plans smooth as usual and we will always book through them. It’s about our 8th time using Trip Central and we recommend them to all our friends.

Exceeded my expectations

I had always been reluctant to travel to Cuba based on what I had heard about power, food, beverages, etc. and shortages. I experienced none of those things. I am a big eater and found that I always had enough food to eat. The rooms were clean. The beds we’re made up every day. Staff were friendly.

Fantastic vacation!!

I had a fantastic vacation at this hotel, and found it receptive and hospitable from check-in to check out. Despite some negative comments I have read regarding the food, I found the food to be delicious, abundant, fresh, and there was always a variety. You couldn't ask for more. The staff was extremely polite, and I was always kindly greeted by Yilainy at the buffet. Although this hotel is rated 4.5 stars, I would give it 5+ stars. I look forward to going back some times soon.

What an amazing trip!

Modern, clean, friendly. Staff was very accommodating. The food was top notch . No shortages, in fact the buffet had everything you wouldn't expect. Sushi, crab legs, carving fresh Parmesan from a wheel of cheese for your pasta. Omelets and fresh fruits of all kinds everyday. Beach was white sand deep into the ocean. Beach bar staff was amazing, thanks gentlemen. Hope to see everyone again one day.

Amazing resort

Nice Rooms ,very well equipped with Daly necessities,excellent room service. Good food and easy axesss to pool beach and restaurant staff was very friendly and helpful all the time tours available to vara and Havana at a decent price.

Amazing resort

Great hotel great location could use a little bit more cleaning but overall it was good. Food was OK but plenty full location was amazing. So close to downtown Varadero you could walk or five dollar bus ride into town. Beach was amazing. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful reaort

The resort is big, very clean and beautiful. I don’t have much bad things to say besides The tiles near the pool area should’ve been none slippery tiles. The tiles they have there are very slippery. There is no entertainment during the day, which is sad. But night time entertainment is well done. No one comes around at the pool to take any order for drinks which someone should. Food is not my type of food but I survived. You can’t get no French fries unless it’s with a sandwich. Also my biggest  [... read more]main down fall is that their is not one Gluten free option which those who are celiac disease. Which I am and I had no sweets or breads. Lucky I bring my own bread which I shouldn't. Other wise nice resort.

Amazing Resort!!

The entire week was an amazing experience for me and my spouse. The people are nice, service was amazing it was truly an amazing experience. I would recommence people to visit this location you won’t regret it.

Cochroaches

We stayed at Melia Internacional Varadero from July 13-20, 2024. This is our third time in Cuba and this hotel was disappointing. They had no welcome drinks at the front desk and no bell person to help you find and bring suite cases to your room upon check in, which is fine and we can live without those services. When we arrived, our bed sheets and pillow cases were dirty like someone had previously slept in it so we went to the front desk twice to request them change it. They said they would c [... read more]all housekeeping to come to our room but 5 hours later when it was time to go to bed at 11pm, it still wasn't done so I went back to front desk and demand they call housekeeping while I was standing there to make sure they would send someone. The towels all looked dirty so I would recommend bringing your own. In our room, the toilet leaked and it was all we could hear while trying to sleep at night. There are two buffet restaurants but the food is the same at both and they often served spoiled, leftover food. Make sure you smell something first before you put it in your mouth and take only a small bite before you continue eating so you still have time to spit it out and avoid stomach issues. We met 2 families that got sick during their vacation - probably due to food poisoning and bug bites (make sure to bring insect repellent). There are cochroaches everywhere, including restaurants. I personally don't like getting my hotel room cleaned during vacation due to cross contamination of germs/viruses but by day 3, cochroaches were crawling around our room so we had to request them to clean it. The whole resort should get fumigated! Everything appears quite run-down and not very well maintained. Nightly entertainment was ok - they don't have a real stage or theater area. The beach is the best part of the resort - very clean and clear and no seaweed. Location of the hotel is great - near downtown and close enough to the airport to be able to get there quickly but far enough that you don't hear all the planes overhead. Because I don't like getting my room cleaned during vacations, I always put the do not disturb sign up. We noticed my parents did not have a sign so we asked for a sign for them. When we returned to our room, we were disappointed to see they took the sign off our door and put it on my parent's door - this is such lazy service! 99% of the staff are unsympathetic and look bored or unhappy to be helping - they made it seem like customers were such an inconvenience to them. The only happy, enthusiastic staff we met was Osvel at the Merkado buffet restaurant making omelets at breakfast and grilling porkchops at lunch. I think the people giving great reviews were either asked to give it or they upgraded to Level. I wish we brought our own beach towels because they rarely had clean ones we can exchange for. There are 5 A la Carte restaurants and for a 7 day stay, we were only allowed to book 3 restaurants - we cheated the system by booking 3 reservations under our room and then 2 under my parent's room lol. You have to keep reconnecting to wifi after 15 mins of inactivity which got annoying because the only time we could call my parents is if they were also connected to the internet. It also didn't help that the 2 phones in our room was not working. They don't usually like giving bottled water and the only drinks available are wine, beer, and rum - there is no Tequila, vodka, champagne, etc. Though the beach is beautiful and the location is great, I would not recommend this resort.

Amazing resort

Every thing was wonderful except for the drinks. They missed out on juice and certain liquor but beyond that we had a great time. Thanks for setting us up with our trip. We will recommend trip central for booking your next vacation. Cheers!!

Would recommend

The staff were very friendly. The pool was the cleanest I've ever experienced in all of my years of travelling to the Carribean. Their water park was really cute. My 10 month old baby loved going down the waterslide after watching the bigger kids do it. The beach was clean and the water was crystal clear and calm. They have guys on the beach that will put up a sun umbrella wherever you want so no need to rush down and save a chair in the morning. They sold something in the gift shop that was $20USD. It worked decently but not as good as the deet free off. (I have a baby and breastfeed otherwise I would just used deet, that's how bad it was). Food: there's a lot of options. You can definitely find a few things that you like and can survive off for the week. I highly recommend booking some A-La-Carts for dinner so that you can get more variety. The Cuban restaurant was good. The Japanese was good. The spanish was awful. I did the Tex-Mex twice. The first time it was amazing. The 2nd time it was awful. A negative is that there's cochroaches at the main buffet restaurants. Especially the Rumba. I'm by no means a diva but seeing 30 of them scatter after sitting down on a booth was rough. Avoid the booths at all costs and bang your chairs on the ground first before you sit. Luckily, I didn't see any in the rooms. Just the buffets. If you go into town, Kiki's restaurant has great pasta. 3 plates of pasta and 2 alcoholic drinks came to $28 USD. La Campana restaurant located in Josone Park has great authentic Cuban food. 2 plates (one chicken, one pork) and flan for dessert came to $23USD

Lovely Resort

The hotel rooms were clean, the grounds were well maintained, the pool was fantastic and the beach was certainly the highlight of the trip. The ocean water was warm, crystal clear and no seaweed!!! Stayed in room 4145 which had a beautiful view of both the pool and the ocean. The only concern was for 5 consecutive days the key card was not working. Several trips down to the lobby to have the key reactivated which was an inconvenience. The food offered in the buffet was a hit or a miss. Repe [... read more]titive food options, however, they did the best with what food they had. The pasta was good, the mashed curry pumpkin was also very good. Omlettes for breakfast along with fresh mango. Downfall with the buffet was that roaches were seen near the food a few times. Terrible experience at the Japanese a la cart as my party of 2 with reservations arrived first and therefore sat in the front of the grill to watch the chef. The host told us we had to sit as far in the corner as possible due to them having a family who planned to attend. We opted not to move and they decided not to provide a show on our grill. It was what it was!!! The cubian restaurant was decent although the Sampson restaurant was top notch. Really enjoyed the grilled tuna steak on their menu. Customer service representative Joanna was an absolute pleasure. Went above and beyond to ensure we, as guests, enjoyed our stay with Melia Intercational.

Nice beach

The washrooms in the lower level by Tobbaco store where awful no toilet seats no soap no paper towels the hand dryer didn’t work and fulllof mosquitoes the ala carts where the same food as buffet just served to you also at the Italian ala carte we where eating and roaches where crawling up the window and ledge next to us not what u would expect I told the waitress she came a few times and squished them with a cloth very appetizing

Amazing Beach

The hotel is very nice. It is huge. The pool is also very big. The beach is breathtaking. Service in the bars and at the beach (I was Level guest) was good. Wait staff were friendly when they got to know you. The food in the restaurants was okay ... there was a cockroach issue in every restaurant, including the main buffet, which was disappointing to say the least. I reported my concern to the conceirge who advised the hotel was aware of the problem and was working to remedy it. Cockroache [... read more]s were walking up the legs, beside where the plates are kept, to the buffet, they were also crawling across the floor in the main buffet and on chairs in two of the eating places where I saw them myself. Two friends were sitting eating breakfast and had two walking across their table. The rooms are nice and the beds were changed every day which is always nice. There was a problem the last night where we were left one towel and went and asked for another and it never did arrive at the room. Strawberries were non-existent and some of the food on the a-la-carte menus was not available. The smaller buffet also ran out of black tea on our last day there. The entertainment is amazing! The activities staff is always present, happy and engaging. All in all, a good spot. It has to be remembered that this is Cuba and they do their very best to make your stay comfortable and meet your needs and expectations and some things are just beyond their control. I would recommend this hotel for sure.

Beach is good. That's all

The beach is AMAZING. White sand, clear blue water. The people at the lobby are not friendly. The red haired woman is a very RUDE person and very CONDESCENDING person. The towels in the room and the bed linens are VERY DIRTY.

Excellent Beach!

This resort is wonderful. First of all it is located on the best beach and the most beautiful turquoise waters. The rooms are very spacious and modern looking. Bottles of water, beer and drinks were stacked up daily. I would recommend, bring your own pillows if you can. Plenty of food and drinks all around. Added bonus, near the 24 hrs bar, there is an ice cream store with a variety of flavors. If you are s coffee lover and enjoy a tasty cup of Java, you won't find it here. Bring us dollars.

Amenities, food and services were top of the line. I would go again. Clean and suitable for families with young kids as well as individuals. Customer service was responding in a timely manner and respectful

Fantastic Resort!!

Great location. Very clean, well maintained, all rooms are clean and modern. There are 2 buffets and other specialty restaurants with great delicious food choices. Also, every day there is a BBQ in the garden with plenty of options to eat. The Beach was beautiful with plenty of chairs at all times with crystal clear waters and no seaweed or bugs. Resort is 10-15 mins walk to Varadero if you wish to go to the town or you can take panoramic bus stop in front of the Resort. Melia International

It was great just like last year very clean and friendly staff. There was double the entertainment this year and some outdoor barbeques. I would go back again. Best hotel in Varadero. There was also plenty of food with no shortage.
