Beautiful Resort!

A Very Nice Clean Resort. Very Friendly Attentive Staff. There was always someone asking you if you needed more water/drink; taking your plates. Lots of different activities/entertainment for adults and children during the day. Always something good to eat. The grounds were well kept and decorative. It was great to be able to get a later check out time as our pick for the airport was 5:30pm. The only thing mentioned from our group was that the coffee was not as good as other resorts.

Beautiful Landcsaped Resort

The resort was beautiful and clean. The grounds were kept clean and landscape was amazing. Beaches were beautiful and clean. Plenty of loungers to go round with no need to get up at 6am to reserve with a beach towel. Staff was friendly and kind. Beautiful weather in March. We went on March Break and wasn't overly packed with tourists. Great off resort restaurants walking distance. Walking distance to market.

resort was great good good plenty of it drinks good weather no rain only thing more shade at pools and they were cold need to be heated room was awesome very comfortable bed lots of hot water every day just had a great holiday

The Best that Cuba can offer!!!

Second time for us in last 2 years and we love everything about it! From the beaches, sand, to restaurants and rooms. Just the best stay for R&R. Love the entertainment as well. You have to meet Danilo who does the stretching and dance classes on the beach and I have to say he is such a dear soul that motivates everyone to get up and move

5* RESORT

We had a wonderful week in the elite section of this resort. The concierge service was exeptional as was the modern room. The beach was really nice and the pools were clean and warm. The food was plentiful as was the wine and rum, but there was no fish or shrimp. But there was lobster every day at the elite restaurant. We hope to come back again.

Grand Muthu Almirante

Another wonderful vacation! We stayed on the Adult side, great accommodations, wonderful restaurant staff and lovely pool with great loungers. Our butler Jack was charming, very gracious and always trying to help with anything he could. The grounds are immaculate on the entire resort.,The pools all look clean and inviting . The buffet and a la cartes were all enjoyable as well.

Very good resort

Excellent beach, no problem with beach lawn chairs. The hotel was clean comfortable. Service was good. Good food, fresh fruit and fruit juices. We would definitely visit again. The only issue was it is an hour away from the airport.

Beautiful Resort

Spent the week of Jan.21/2025 to Jan28/2025 Hotel and staff were great, from grounds to pools, restaurants but most importantly the staff. From reception, bar staff, grounds keepers, servers basically anyone who worked there. They all went out of their way to make our stay relaxing and trouble free.

Great relaxing resort

1. Welcome is good. 2. Room large, clean with a great view of the main garden pathway leading to the beach and pools. 3. Bathroom...large with double sink. 4. Extra large dining area, very clean with good service even though buffet. 5. Food, variety of ways to serve : cucumbers, pumpkin, fruit, sauces, beef, chicken ok. Did not enjoy the fish. Enjoyed the rice pudding but not the sweet desserts which lacked taste. Soup was usually good. Scrambled eggs every morning for me. It was good.

Outstanding

RULE #1 ------- Don't expect things to be the same as Home, If that's your expectations, STAY HOME! I comparison to other Cuban resorts we visited in the last few years, the Muthu was a pleasant surprise. Amazing Vacation

They had lobster. The food was good, unlike the usual cuban menu in other resorts. The room is big a clean. The resort is big and very beautiful. The entertainment was very impressive. Overall, it was an unforgettable vacation.

Canadian business

We alway love the beach and people of Cuba they smile and friendly service us even the weather there are alway hot: Beach are clean, the only thing we would love to stay longer at lease 10 to 2 week vacation but alway one week is enough there are not much activities. Plus the younger age would not like to come back for second time: because of the activities are not suit for younger age,. Thank a lot

Amazing Family Vacation

This resort exceeded our expectations! We had a wonderful week as a family of 4! The hotel itself is beautiful (grounds, pools and rooms). Our room was always clean and the beds were comfortable. The kids pirate ship pool was a great bonus. The food is good, a little repetitive but delicious. The Indian A La Carte was our favourite! The beach is gorgeous! Crystal blue, shallow, calm water! Average resort

Let me start with, we all know Cuba is not really known for their food so getting that out of the way. Food here is delicious what little they do have and mostly the meat and beans. There is not a huge variety or meats and if you are a vegetarian or dont eat Pork then your choices are even more limited. The salads are the same everyday, there is fish at lunch and dinner. Breakfast has eggs everyday with pancakes you have to wait in line to get and they are hard. Anyway in a nutshell, food is ok. [... read more] There is just too many salads and aromatic oils. I survived on rice and bread some days. Same goes for snack bar. If u dont eat pork then u cannot have the hotdogs or beef burgers so it was just fries for us which were double fried and hard. Getting to drinks, they were so watered down. The choices were just wine, beer or juice. There was no pop and the one day we got coke, it was like sweet syrup and completely flat. We stuck to pineapple juice throughout even tho i tried other juices. Tamarind was ok and i must say the ice coffee at the lobby was really good. The a la carte restaurants I went to were Indian, Asian and Italian. You don’t get menus, everyone gets the same tray which is sort of like “thali” and assortment of dishes. They were good I must say but the roti was hard and rubberlike. Everything else tasted good. Asian restaurant was good. The ambience was nice and entertaining. Food was good. Italian was ok, the idea of an appetizer bar is good, just wish they had labels on what there was. The waiters speak so fast it was hard to understand but overall i would say average. You do have to book these restaurants early as soon as u get there as they get booked pretty fast. We were lucky as we eat early so took the first time slot at 6:30pm. We did find they we were hungry around 4:30 but nothing for us to eat so luckily i had some nuts and granola bars to munch on before dinner. Ok food done, now on to the beach which is lovely. Water is lovely but might suggest u have swim shoes as the ocean has a lot of rocks and broken coral even in the shallow end. You have to find a clear spot and then stay there. Getting a seat is obviously always a challenge everywhere so we always got to the beach at 8:45 and got the second row. We stayed till about noon, then left and went to the pool after lunch. Towel service is shitty I must say. We got a towel the first day which is in our room and used it the next day. Changed it a day later and after that everytime i went to change it was closed as they were out of towels. We went 4 days without a clean towel and due to humidity the towels were not drying well so they started to smell. Considering its classified as a 5 star this was disappointing. Seats at pools were reserved sometimes from the night before as we would notice some items still there the next day which is so not fair as sometimes people went on excursions and their items stayed there all day. There are lifeguards and there is a pool bar with the same watered drinks. There is a juice bar which is half decent. The pineapple juice there was way better than the rest of the bars although we realized after that the person that was making them was a substitute and when the actual employee for that bar returned it was just average. It is made fresh so I give that bonus points but not what we are used to but atleast better than the watered down juices. The games and entertainment was ok. There was kids games and activities for adults to participate but not a whole lot of participation as people just wanted to relax and chill. I have to say their microphones are damn loud and they sound like they are screeching. Ok night shows, so aqua show is good, i havent seen that before so that was well done. The white night is basically ballet with them dressed in white and international show is basically white night with colourful clothes. Then there was pirate night which i thought was gonna be fun as they asked us to wear swimsuits well it was just a band singing by the pool. It was all in Spanish and their voices were good but once again the microphones are so loud and i dont know music language but they were screeching almost. Then the power went out during the third song and it took a while to get it back. Also just fyi the fire alarm goes off at all hours of the day and night due to people smoking in buildings. That is annoying as heck as they are loud and if u are a light sleeper then you will be awake every night. Our first day we asked for wifi and were told we would get it next day and i was adamant as i needed to reach my kids so they gave me someone else’s which was ok. Then the next day i was asked to wait and is was not working but people i met said they got it. Anyway I finally got it and its very spotty so if u are a person that needs wifi constantly then this would not be for u. It does disconnect after a while when inactive and u have to log on again everytime. I did use the spa. Prices are high but the massage was really good. Worth it. We picked two excursions, swim with dolphins which was my first time and amazing. And we picked the farewell city tour as we had a late flight and no point hanging around the hotel with our carry ons. There was an advantage to this as we then get VIP boarding and lounge and can relax and have some drinks etc which were included. There is not a whole lot of food i have to say. Buns, tuna, mayonnaise, slice meet, olives and crackers and apple jam. Since i dont eat meat (pork) and dont like tuna i had the crackers bread and jam. Lol. Also we noticed there was a bit of mold starting in places like the hallway to the indian restaurant, our washroom in the room as well as the baggage room etc so since this resort is fairly new it has gotten away with that but im sure as years go by they will have to fix that. Overall the vacation was good just be prepared and have some snacks with u if u are a vegetarian or someone who doesnt eat pork. I wouldn’t classify this resort as a 5 star. I went last year to a 4 star resort and it was way better than this so I would put it at 4 star. If you have read all this you should know I take everything with a grain of salt and experience it all on my own. This was my experience that I mentioned above just in detail bcoz sometimes it’s nice to know before I go. I have been to various Cuba resorts so I know not to expect much in terms of food etc. Did I enjoy, yes! Would I go back here probably not. Only because Ive been to better places thats all.

Above average hotel

Clean new hotel. Beautiful beach, swimming pools. Dining areas are convenient large and plenty food. Will not recommend any of the a la carte restaurants. Excellent and friendly staff. Will visit again.

New Resort 9/10 Front Desk Staff - 5/10 - not very helpful - even the hotel manager wasn't very helpful Housekeeping 10/10 - friendly staff Rooms - 10/10 even for a standard room, exceeded expectations - super modern facility Cleanliness - 10/10 Grounds 10/10 - young grounds...very pretty needs a few more years to mature Elite Service 10/10 Trainees 10/10 Pools 8/10 they're a bit small but nice Beach 6/10 - small but very pretty, nice clear, shallow water, cool s [... read more]and, nice breeze but the local people litter the beach (its a public beach) with beer cans and they defecate in the water...feces floating on the surface on weekends...beer cans and broken glass...almost cut my feet in water several times...get HEP C shot before visiting this resort Beach Staff - 2/10 - paddle boats and canoes used by local tourists pedal straight into the international tourist and have no remorse when they hurt you...they look back at you after slamming into you or wacking you in the head with a paddle with a glazed over glare in their eyes that can only be described at spite Food 7.5/10 - quite good for Cuba - no shortages Cooking staff at the grills at the buffet and La Roca - 1/10 - terrible - they almost make you beg for food if you're not Cuban. They keep the food for themselves and their people and told us to eat spaghetti - didn't matter how much you tipped them, they don't care Bartenders at La Roca - 2/10 terrible - although the service is pretty quick, with the exception of a few nice staff members, they are unkind...unless you're Cuban. T Tourist ratio Cubans 70% to 30% International - They make you feel uncomfortable, they take most of the food (fill up plastic containers hidden in their beach bags). The locals want to keep this resort for themselves and they let you know it. They either ignore or intimate. I understand their hardships and they deserve to enjoy the beauty of their own country and live well but its not a good idea to mix international with local. It simply doesn't work. I would say its almost borderline dangerous for Canadians to travel to this resort. Keep it for the locals and don't expect International tourists to keep it afloat by helping their economy. I have already advised everyone I know not to travel to this resort...they have booked elsewhere. After 21 visits to this country (first time Holguin) and after this experience, I'm not sure I will return to Cuba. The new generation is different. This is not the Cuba that I thought I knew....at least not at this resort.

Beautiful Resort

Pros: love the location, beautiful beach, clean hotel (outside), friendly and helpful staff (restaurant, housekeeping, garden staff), animation staff Robert. Thank you for the fun excursion (bike, hike). Con: slow check-in. Room had water damage, mold near entrance and washroom. Guest service was great, they were prompt in fixing issues.

Great Resort

This is a smaller resort, with everything you need. Pools,beautiful beach, friendly staff, a few restaurants. It is easy to find your way around due to the smaller size. The property is lovely - very clean and well maintained. The pools are clean, not that we used them. We spent our time at the beach. You do have to get up early to get beach chairs, but that seems to be the case everywhere you go. It is not a huge expanse of beach, enough for a short walk. If I were to have a complaint, it would be that there were no hooks in the room. Make sure you go to the dollar store and pick up a few clothing hooks. I would recommend this resort for families, friends, or couples.

Great Resort - Very Nice Beach.

New hotel with nice gardens and pools. Clean and spacious restaurants, good food in Cuban style! Beautiful beach. Negative: By 6am most beach chairs are "taken" - Nothing new on resorts but hotel could try to take some 'action' to minimize this!
