Amazing Resort

I cant say anything bad about the Villas at Club Amigo always a pleasure going there being my 3rd trip there this year, location, staff, ground keepers, weather all was wonderful, beach was amazing, coffee bar wonderful and 4th floor bar great drinks and wonderful view

Awesome resort

The staff are friendly, rooms are clean and the beaches are amazing. The resort is located beside a boulevard with little shops lining it. A market of souvenirs is located on the other side. Across the street is a lovely restaurant with delicious food and reasonable prices. we always feel safe at this resort. We love our home away from home.

Do not go! Feb 27 to March 5, 2024

My husband & I used to go to Club Amigo often years ago. The last time we were here was 8 years ago. Unfortunately, things have changed a lot. The hotel was at 30 percent and I must say the clientele is mostly 60 + years old so it feels like an Old people’s home, not that there’s anything wrong with that. The food was terrible and when you were served it was a very small portion, no condiments at all, no mixes for any drink, they don’t have coke, Pepsi, 7up whatever and I don’t mean brand names [... read more]. They say they have coke but it’s a powder they mix with water and it’s disgusting. The water! It smells & tastes like a sewer. You are given one bottled water. I went and asked at the front desk for water or at least let me buy some and nope. Sorry lady no water? Ummm, this is a basic necessity. Shame on Sunwing still offering these trips to Club Amigo. Club Amigo needs to retire and the staff as well. Most staff are miserable and cranky. We only ended up staying in that resort for 2.5 days and moved to the one next door for an extra fee. Just be warned. I felt really bad for a couple with 4 kids and the kids saying on man no 7up again ??‍♂️ I mean c’mon Sunwing, people who come here have to save their money to come. And for what? No decent food, no water or risk drinking sewage water and get sick, no service, no drinks and they do something to the alcohol? Water it down or add something , not sure because for me it was like drinking something vile, like gasoline or something. Anyways we are home safe & sound and praying we don’t get violently ill from this terrible trip. Thanks, but NO THANKS.

Club amigo ( villa)

The hotel and grounds are very old and the old main hotel and grounds along with barracks and the bungalow section and pools and restaurants and grounds are all unkept and closed completely Only the Villas and Bennymore snack bar kids club/pool and the main lobby near the main Guardalavaca beach are open. The grounds are being fixed up a bit daily ( removal of damaged limbs and weeds etc) the staff are almost all absolutely amazing people friendly and helpful as they can be. The shortages ar [... read more]e widespread from wine to water to even a week without even rum Some days no eggs more often no bananas or any abundance of anything most dishes appeared to be same for most meals ( I am unsure if they even were fresh) the bennysmore was to be available to those who booked Villa for breakfast and lunch as well as aka carte however they had nothing to serve The catamaran bonus was non existent as well No wine or rum for tasting A complete waste to pay extra to book Villa sunwing special as there was absolutely no perks… There was no juice or pop for mix most days and tho I brought from home even the co2 water was not working and no water to make juice either no buns for burgers at the snack bar no cheese most days either or ham… It was windy and cold most days including rain except Monday Everything was disappointing except the staff There was prostitution visable daily The tienda resort store was almost also complete empty as was the tienda shops along the boulevard and across the way. The entertainment schedule was not followed as the sineage showed nor the advertisement on fb group from the week before Very limited 20min here or there maybe an hour later at a different location hard to track down when and where The pools were always dirty or red flag often and pool bar was almost always also closed no signage to say open time either No signage to even alert you to where the buffet was ( accidentally found it on day 2/3) it also had short open door service (2 hour window I believe so when you went for an excursion you often missed any opportunity to go for a meal It usually ran out or had nothing suitable to eat even no butter for the bread quite often very small bowls or plates of jello deserts like cake or ice cream Bars often had no alcohol or mix or even ice no one was ever seen at the public relations desk to ask anything of and the internet was almost always impossible to connect anywhere Apparently the sale of the old section most of the beach and grounds along with the pool snack kids section and Bennysmore and beach bar is happening and talk of changes possible both good/bad is heavy on the minds of staff as well as the repeat guests The location is superb with easily able to access the local surroundings and market etc I truly hope the shortages get resolved for the tourism industry is voicing leaving Cuba behind due to prices being so high and yet so little quality or quantity of everything available. My recommendation below is in respect to the staff and not the current situation of shortages. I recommend tourism is repaired quickly to keep people visiting!

Villas of club amigo guadalavarca

This is my 4 th time at this resort, the room did not have a safe available so I had to carry my valuables wherever I went, tried to get a room with a safe but there were no rooms left, the lady at reception was totally unhelpful. Internet did not work for my iPhone yet my friends with Samsung had no problems. There was no water on the resort, you had to go to guest services to have water delivered to your room, only 2 500 ml bottles a day, there is a plaza across the street we had to go to [... read more], to buy water, 1.00 American each. No pop available, so if you like pop for drinks forget it. Again the plaza had some 1.50$ Their water taste like moldy flowers, so you can taste it in all the coffee, juice and slush and milk ( as they use powdered milk). On the plus side, we love the beaches, the food was good, not much seafood to be found, but they had chicken, beef and pork, not much bacon but still had an omelet every morning for breakfast. Pizzas can be found at noonish at the 24 hour snack bar, or at Rico’s down on the beach for approximately $7-9 American. Don’t bother getting your money conferted no one wants pesos, not even their government lol, Take Canadian money and American . I tipped with toonies and loonies, If I needed something at the store American is preferred. Our maid was great, lily . The villas were great, beach was great, Leonard was very helpful, if you need a horse and buggy Alcides was very helpful. +5354791827 Favorite place was the coffee bar, and beach.
