Jolly Beach Antigua: 3 star price, 5 star experience

This was my first stay at a 3 star resort and I was pleasantly surprised. This is not a modern, new resort but the location, service, views, beach (huge and zero seaweed), ocean, entertainment and staff were all excellent. All rooms (I think) have true ocean views though we were down-sized to a standard room where the mattresses were tired. The 3 restaurants were all very good and the buffet always provided delicious options even though selection may be less than those found at more expen [... read more]sive resorts. If your idea of good food is Domino's you will be happy with the fries, hot dogs and burgers always available.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Awesomest Resort!!!!

We spent seven days here and wanted to extended our stay for 10 days. The only reason we didn’t do so, because a meeting can up back home.the resort is absolutely adorable and beautiful. It’s huge, but don’t feel crowded. The service is above and beyond!!!! A+ staff! They are doing everything to make your stay pleasant and fun! Pineapple Beach Club: Beautiful Antigua

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pineapple Beach Club. The resort is laid back with plenty of time to listen to the relaxing waves of the ocean without loud music. The water sports offered are fun including snorkeling and kayaks. Our room was up on the hill at the back of the resort and offered a nice private getaway after a good climb. The Verandah Antigua: Simply Wonderful!

This resort was exactly what we needed! The villas aren’t new, but are in great shape, spotless, huge and offered all amenities we needed as well as a private balcony where we enjoyed late evenings listening to the tree frogs. The food was amazing and there was so much variety, from Italian night to a poolside BBQ. Two beaches - the main beach was sometimes crowded but the beach closest to reception was perfect! Pineapple Beach Club: Perfect

Pineapple beach resort was perfect. Very beautiful location and the food and resort was amazing. Secluded and private. Just what I wanted. Staff members were so friendly I would go back again and again

St James Club and Villas: Beautiful Country Resort Just Okay

I have never submitted a review before, but feel the need to do so. This is a very, very quiet resort. The resort had no evening entertainment. Everything was quiet by 8:00 PM. There is really only one pool and you can't see the ocean from it because the view is blocked by buildings. The people are lovely. Pay a bit extra and go to the Caribbean side.

Galley Bay Resort and Spa: Small , quiet very nice resort

Hotel and grounds were well kept and very good. The sea was very rough which made swimming in the sea difficult for seniors.All else very good.The staff are very courteous and helpful.The restaurants and bars were all beside the sea and were very relaxing.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Small and relaxed

We went to Antigua as 2 couples. This was our first visit to the island. The weather was great, the food was good, almost always something we liked. The beach grill was better when the buffet wasn’t open for lunch. Our room was very dated and the bed very uncomfortable but it was clean. All the staff was friendly and all spoke English very well. St James Club and Villas: Outstanding resort.

I’m literally sitting on the beach at this resort now writing this review. If you, like I, read the reviews and weren’t sure what people are talking about read on. This place is beautiful and I would absolutely come back. In short the beach, accommodations and food are excellent and the people are all incredibly friendly. They have been incredibly accommodating even to the point of pre taking our dinner order at restaurants so the chef can make a meal that allows her to eat without fear of later feeling sick. For me (who’s diatary requires are no so restrictive) the food has been great. I’m not sure how others who complain live or where they eat but it’s been amazing. The themed nights are awesome. Food is great and for somebody with accommodations needed it’s been wonderful. Accommodations: both the villas and beach front rooms are great. The beds comfortable, bathroom spacious. The resort is older (so gardens are lush) but so are the accommodations. I’m happy here cause I spend little time in the room anyway. It’s nice, quiet and comfortable. Everything I need. Beaches, pools and public space: Two beaches is awesome. I’ve spent most of my time on the ocean side unlike other reviews. Can swim on both beaches, not sure what other reviews are talking about. The ocean side has great ocean sounds and sights with a light breeze which is wonderful. I’ve enjoyed it much more than the bay side. There is always a palapa, chair or space available. I swear it’s like they have lounges for double or triple the people who could be here. Never a fight for a spot to sit down unlike other resorts I’ve been to running at 8am to reserve a spot. Never have to do that hear. It’s so great. People: The people here are lovely. I swear I’ve spoken to everybody who works here they are all awesome and have a great sense of humour and appear to enjoy what they are doing. “You reep what you sow” Talk to people with respect and kindness and it’s amazing how kind and gracious they are in return. One of the ladies at the front desk said she got a complaint about the weather as if there was something she could do about it. (Get Jesus on the phone! Ebony you’re hilarious) I suspect if you had an experience with somebody being rude it’s not the staff fault. As I sit under a palapa at this very moment on the beach I’m watching people have a great conversation with the guy raking the beach with a big smile on his face and Alfred the drink cart master just made my day again. If there’s rude staff here I haven’t found them yet. Will keep looking and keep you posted. Great things about this resort: Drink the water from the taps, you don’t need water bottles in the fridge. The resort has their own desalination plant so you can drink the water right from the taps. Google desalination if you don’t understand it. But yes you can drink the water from the taps just like home, that’s fact. Save the planet from plastic garbage at the same time and don’t use them at all. There’s nobody bugging on you the beach with birds to take your picture, selling crap, braiding your hair etc. you can just relax and enjoy. Both beaches are great. I preferred the ocean side myself. Many reviews were for the bay. If you have small kids the bay would be good. Night life: I’m not 20 (I’m 40) and have no desire for a club. Goto cancun if that’s what you want. There is night lift, beach party, singers at the outside lounge, games to play etc. never had a hard time finding stuff to do after dinner never was bored. Coffee shop: get yourself an Amarcano black, add honey and cinnamon. My wife talked me into it. Do it. Trust me. Anyway I’m done ranting. I hate reviews cause they seem to be written by people who are their heads up their (you know what) and not from somebody who’s just a normal traveler happy to be there.

Galley Bay Resort and Spa: Peaceful place in quality surroundings

This is a perfect resort for couples that just want quiet relaxation with quality food and drinks. We were grateful not to have music blaring. There was always plenty of space around the pool, on the beach, at the bars and the main restaurant. The Gauguin Restaurant is a real treat for its tropical ambiance on the beach. The guest rooms are spacious, well maintained and comfortable.

Very poor welcome ...arrived tired after a very early flight...receptionist very curt...no cold beverage offered...instead of giving us a brief summary (there was an orientation the next morning) she wasted 10 minutes showing us a map of hotel and giving us fairly redundant information. Main pool was freezing, have never been in a colder pool in the Caribbean, they should heat it when it gets below 68. Jolly Beach Antigua: Awesome beach

3 star resort with 5 star service. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They sing a 'good morning' song several times every day at breakfast. Food and drinks were very good. Beach is excellent, wide white sand and plenty of room for walking. Lots of palapas and chairs. 2 pools, one activity and one quieter. Rooms and buildings need some work, and they are renovating slowly. Still a ways to go. Everything is clean, but dated and not everything works all the time. The Verandah Antigua: The Verandah Resort Antigua

We had a great time at the resort. This was our third stay there. The people were there fantastic, very courteous and professional. The grounds and beaches were well maintained and inviting. The food and drinks were up to par to the high standards of the resort. Will definitely return again.

St James Club and Villas: Our perfect resort

The grounds are very beautiful. There are ocean views from all the rooms and restaurants. The staff are lovely,very helpful and friendly. Beachfront rooms have patios right on the beach. The food was very good, with a choice of restaurants.

Pineapple Beach Club: Paradise

Although the resort could use some renovations, it was still beautiful. The resort was organized so that almost everything you needed was in one location. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food at the buffet changed frequently so you did not have to worry about getting sick of the food. The beach was nice, although there was some weeds/plants that would wash up on the sand. Overall, the resort was great.

Hi, we enjoyed this vacation ,stayed in Garden View room--dont book anything less. House drinks with option for premium to purchase. Room does need update & freshening up; staff ,food ,entertainment,location, transportation,all good. Any probs we had with room were immediately attended to. Thought suitable for people looking for a relaxed crowd, not a place for spring breakers (we are in our early 60's). Even though entertainment is loud at times, they usually are done at 10pm. Royalton CHIC Antigua: Worst Resort Evet

Omg worst resort I ever stayed at. Th bathroom clogged my entire stay the bathtub leaked and flooded each time we took a shower. The phone didn’t work the food was ok not many or good restaurants.however the staff was so kind , good and very helpful.

Pineapple Beach Club: We will return

No wrist bands, no towel cards. Really laid back resort. We had a beachfront room that was steps from the sand and ocean. Room had not been renovated but it was clean. All tubs are being removed and replaced with walk in showers. Food was good with a nice variety. Make sure you try Mary’s Outhouse for lunch. The Verandah Antigua: Best Family Vacation Ever

Our family of 3 have been traveling since our daughter was 2, she is now 13, and we all agree the Verandoh Resort in Antigua is our favorite! It is beautiful, well kept, friendly, kind and the service was amazing. There was so much to do each day that we were never bored! The activities available kept our daughter off of her phone and engaged with us! From paddleboards, kayaks, peddle boats, hobby cats sailboat, volleyball, ping pong, mini golf and more! You can do as much or as little as you [... read more] want!! The staff, particularly Loreal, Keiffer, Jaineliie, all made us feel like a part of the family! They really made our trip even more enjoyable! The rooms are like small cabins, and everyone has an incredible view! The beaches are fantastic and the food was good. We went on a couple of trips which showed us so much more of the beauty and friendliness of this paradise! We have nothing bad to say about this resort!! If I could ask for anything, it would be the ability to take food to our room, as we often could not eat it all and would have liked something to eat after the show. Would like to see more enacknfood available by the main bar, sandwiches were nice but not always enough. As for Sunwing, it needs to update their planes! There is no ability to charge devices on board, there is no app or WiFi to watch shows. The in flight TVs are small and not easy to see when passengers choose not to close their windows, and the shows played are not appropriate for children. The food is not great either, and although I provoked my meals, the Mac and cheese was discontinued and we were not notified until we were in flight. The flight was delayed and we were not notified until we were suppose to be boarding for the flight home. The on line check in was not working and out flight time was not accurate on the site.
