Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great place
If you enjoy nature trails and local animals treating you, then this is your place. Great food, great rooms and entertainment.
Families will love this place with tons of activities for all ages. If I had to complain about something that would be long line ups. 1 or 2 people attending at check-in. Lobby bar only had one bartender. But remember, you’re on vacation so no need to rush.
It was an enjoyable and relaxing vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Nice resort
The hotel was very nice, not very much seating in the lobby of the Akumel and no lobby bar.The rooms were nice the beds were comfy. In our room though the bathroom smelled bad all the time #7923. Entertainment was good, the beach was good at the Akumel you could see fish just standing in the water. Very dissapointed could only get 1 Alacarte dinner we were allowed 7. We checked every day for cancellations and none. They should not allow people to book alacartes online before the even get to the [... read more]resort. So will probably not come back to this resort. Also hard to get chairs at the Akumel pool.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Great Resort to relax
The check in was quick and personalized but our room was not quite ready/available even if it was about 2pm in the afternoon. After a quick bite by the beach where the main breakfast/lunch is held, you notice right away that this is going to be fun to eat here every day! The view of the white sandy beach and turquoise water is just amazing.
Finally around 3h30, still no room, this is quick fixed fixed and go to the room. The accomodation is nice although it does feel a little dated it was ver[... read more]y comfortable and spacious. The balcony facing the back alley and the Resort next door is definately not what I was looking for to relax after a day at the beach. Tried to get another room with a better view but our concierge (Carlos) was not able to work this out so we stayed it our allocated room for our 2-week stay. The grounds are well manicured with something like 4 pools and rivers throughout, very nice. The main pools are located close to the main restaurant and the beach where it is very hard to find a lounger past 9am. Although there is a sign that is very clear about not being able to through your stuff at 5am and show up at 2 in the afternoon (a little sarcastic here but you get it right?) People still do it because this rule is absolutely not inforced, so why bother? Anyways, further to this, quite a few loungers were reserved every day (with signs from the Resort no less). Good thing I would rather be at the beach where there were enough loungers there even if you show up at 10am after breakfast. The best part here was those mini tent-like sun shades that you could pull over the loungers to hide from the scorching sun. Well done. We also liked the fact that there a quite a few palm trees on the beach to get some shade as the day progresses.
Meals: All breakfast can be taken at the main restaurant for buffet or at the Spices restaurant (above the main one) where things are "a la carte". Lunch can be done at both, at the main restaurant, you can select either the buffet or "a la carte" or a combination of both. Suppers have to be via a reservation with the help of your Building Concierge. This was an easy process although you can't always pick your prefered timing (from 18h00 to 22h00), for us, supper at 9pm is a little late! 6 Restaurant of various food selection and dress code. 2 of them requires gentlemen to wear long pants, collared shirt/Polo shirt and closed shoes, the others will accept shorts and shirt
There is some entertainment during the day, mainly at the main pools, and in the evening at the main bar but don't expect a grandiose affaire! Unless you attend the Mexican show, held every Saturday evening. Because we arrived on a Saturday, we could not go that night andhad to settle for the following Saturday, because we were there for 2 weeks. Had we been there only for 7 days, we would have missed this. It is some kind of dinner and show and it was quite enjoyable.
For the return, there are no Travel Representatives or Travel Binders to help you navigate the transport/pick-up time to the Airport, make sure you get this from your travel agent ahead of time as missing/no pick up of transport can get quite expensive by taxi for the 1 hour ride to Cancun.
All in all, we really enjoyed this relaxing vacation and would recommend but if you are looking for action and games, this may not be the best place for you.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Third visit and as always a wonderful time.
The grounds of the Valentin Imperial are spectacular. It is a large resort but nothing is overpowered by the buildings. It feels very natural with beautiful flora and a surprisingly varied fauna including lots of species of birds. The staff is amazing - everyone very friendly and always looking to be helpful. Lots of nice restaurants with different and very good cuisines and menus. The beach is ok, but the great pools balance it out. Rooms spacious and well appointed. Interesting evening [... read more]programs for music and shows. And we met a lot of people we enjoyed hanging with, most of whom were also return visitors.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Beautiful!
Catalonia Maroma is a beautiful, well-maintained resort that has been built to embrace the natural environment. Walking through the mangroves enjoying the wildlife was our favourite part of this resort other than the spectacular beach which is truly the highlight. You can walk for miles along pristine white soft sand. The resorts along Maroma work diligently to deal with the sargassum which got worse as our week there went on. Lots of sun loungers means no early morning rave to get one. Food was[... read more] fresh and the buffet offered lots of variety. The restaurants were a bit hit and miss but the Mexican one was exceptional. We didn’t have issues making reservations.
The room was modern and clean but our air conditioning wasn’t working fully (never got down to set temperature) despite many requests to maintenance to fix it. As well the pillows were awful.
Evening entertainment could be improved though the shows at the theatre were amazing! Offering quieter music in the lobby after dinner before the show is needed though the guitarist and pianist were very good.
A 45/60 minute drive from the airport makes CM a perfect destination. We will definitely return.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Resort was very clean!
Everything was lovely, Nicolle referred the Barcelo Tropical and did not mislead us it was what she said.
As we have stayed at the Bahai we did miss the entertainment at nights that they hold outside with different people playing guitar and singing.
The resort itself did not disappoint with rooms and food. Very good!
Entertainment we missed.
Thanks again to your team for another beautiful resort!

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Well Short of Expectations
Background
My wife and I travel often and stay at many resorts. We are easygoing guests. We do not walk into a room looking for issues or take photos of every small problem. We look for a good overall experience and understand things happen.
This stay fell short of expectations for the price point and star rating. We will not return.
What Worked Well
Transportation, check in, and check out ran smoothly.
The staff stood out as the best part of the resort. Every team member we met w[... read more]orked hard and treated guests with care.
Staff stayed pleasant and responsive even during busy times. When we reported issues, they acted fast and tried to help each time. Their effort and attitude deserve recognition and was the only bright spot.
Room Issues
The room had several maintenance problems.
The bed did not have a fitted sheet. The sheet kept coming loose through the night, which left us waking up on the bare mattress. For a resort in this price category, basic bedding is an expectation.
The toilet had a weak flush and often clogged (which was a common issue for other guests as well). The safe also stopped working more than once.
The resort relies heavily on its mobile app for service requests. We logged maintenance issues through the app multiple times during our stay. Staff responded each time to repair the problem quickly. After several visits for the same issues, however, the situation became frustrating.
Seating and Common Areas
Seating across the resort created one of the largest frustrations.
There were not enough loungers or chairs at the pool, beach (or even seats in the lobby). Guests who did not wake early to reserve spots by the pool or beach had few options, or none at all. I say this even though we are early risers and did not have this issue, but for those who like to sleep in you will be disappointed or feel pressured to set an alarm.
The lobby layout adds to the issue. The space feels cramped, and the bar and café area has limited seating. They have one bartender and one barista to serve a large number of guests, which slowed service through no fault of the staff.
For a resort in this category, having loungers for guests is expected.
Noise at the Pool
The pool area stays extremely loud for most of the day.
Our trip focused on a couples getaway. We enjoy a fun atmosphere and have no issue with activities or music.
The level of constant noise made rest difficult. Organized games, announcements, and loud music ran through most of the day. Guests who want a quieter environment or a nap during the afternoon will struggle.
Food and Dining
Food created the largest disappointment of the trip.
For the price and star rating, the dining experience fell far below expectations. We have stayed at many comparable resorts and expected a much higher level of consistency.
Specialty restaurants delivered uneven, poor or barely edible meals.
After a few attempts we returned to the buffet, which normally serves as the backup option at most resorts. We hoped for more reliable meals there.
The biggest concern involved illness. Several members of our group became sick during the stay from the food. We travel often and follow safe eating habits when abroad. We also spoke with other guests who reported similar issues.
Final Thoughts
The staff work hard and deserve credit for their effort and professionalism.
Outside of the service, the resort fell short in several key areas including room quality, seating availability, noise management, and food.
For the price point and star rating, expectations were much higher. Based on this experience, we will choose another resort for future trips.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: The Fives beach Resort and Residence
The Fives Beach resort was an exceptional resort. The setting itself was extraordinary since surrounded by a jungle like setting. And in this jungle you will see monkeys, coatis, capybaras and turtles.
The resort itself has several pools to access and a wide variety of restaurants.
The beach itself is not bad it’s just a bit rocky and alot of seaweed.
Overall excellent place to stay at.
I would rate it a 5 star !

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Good resort
Overall, the hotel was good for the price. Unfortunately, the beach was full of sargassum and the water was cold but the beach itself is quite nice, sandy. Beware of the Premium/Privilege Club people hunting you like hawks at the check-ins. If you are not interested to pay extra, tell them directly straight away; otherwise, you will be wasting your precious time for their presentations and they will try to attract you by free massage, etc. The exclusive clubs are in every hotel but I have never [... read more]seen such pushy people like here and that really spoiled my impression. The entertainment is okay, average shows in the evening. Overall, rooms are good and clean (except there is no door to the bathroom, just curtains), maid services are good, water was refilled daily. Food is decent, you can always find something to eat.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Does not fit with our ideal Mexican vacation
Staff were great and food and general service was really good. As this was a family vacation with sons and grandsons, it was a fun time. Grandsons enjoyed the kids club.. Pool water and jacuzzi were so cold, we couldn't much take advantage of the water. Even the grandkids didn't seem thrilled with the water. The ocean-front beach was accessible by a 10-minute trolley ride and so inconvenient. I was a bit disappointed in the rooms and setup with getting from the villas to the resort ameniti[... read more]es. Our rooms were really cold and even though we started out with 2 blankets, one disappeared - we don't like to complain!

Sensira Resort and Spa: Great Vacation
Travelled : February 17-27, 2026
Family of 4, Kids aged 8 & 4
Stayed in a Double Queen Room
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sensira and are considering coming back next year. Here is the high-level overview:
- Arrived via private shuttle, 20ish minutes from CUN airport, while the road had a few potholes, it was nothing notable and our driver was able to navigate around them easily.
- Check in took about 10 minutes, there is the local fee to pay, has to be through credit card, cost us abou[... read more]t $70 for 10 days
- Every room had a view of the ocean and a decent sized balcony
- Our room was cleaned daily, provided we left the tag on the door.
- Mini-bar was refreshed most days, a few days missed.
- Shower floods the bathroom, but the water pressure and temperature was good.
-Temperature of the room was good, you are able to adjust
- Reserve your pool loungers between 6-7AM for a decent spot, kids area is shady in the AM but blasted in the afternoon with sun
-Great fitness classes daily at the pool
-Beach was nice, not too much seaweed, removed daily in the AM
-Lobby had music performer each night
-Nightly show was enjoyed by our kids (for us it was just ok), theatre always had space to sit
-If you are bringing Pesos, bring small bills for tipping, it was very hard to make change, no issue with USD
-We took an UBER from the hotel to Puerto Moreles for the day and it cost us about $15-$20 each way, no issues.
- Hotel had REALLY good WIFI
- For the restaurants:
- Breakfast is at the Buffet daily, always a good selection. You also have option to grab a sandwich or fruit cup from the Tea House which was a nice option.
-Mexican Restaurant was good, we recommend the tortilla soup, ceviche and the beef tacos, for the main, the pork was very good! Fidel took great care of us there both times.
-Italian Restaurant was also good, we enjoyed the Salmon and the Beef tenderloin. The chicken Parmigan was a good option for our kids. Line up at 5:15 to get a decent time (opens at 6)
-Steakhouse was excellent, Ana provided really great service and engaged with our kids. Steak was cooked well, sides are small, wedge salad was great. You need to make a reservation 2 days in advance at the conceriege at 9AM, line up at 8:30 to get a decent time.
-Beach snack had really good Pico and Guac, but the line up can be long. Fish tacos and fries were also good. The servers in the pool area can also bring you food.
Check out was easy, took 5 minutes, no additional charges. Stayed in the lobby after check out for an hour and still had drinks from the lobby bar. David at the Lobby bar always took great care of us.
Overall, this was a really great resort for our family because of the family oriented attitude. There were a lot of great activites to take advantage of and we personally did mini-golf, the trampoline park daily, kids movie, kids club, ping pong, nintendo, zipline, wall climbing. We even watched some of the olympic games in the lounge area on the second floor.
****Item to note, if you are walking on the beach with your family, go left, not right. There are a few adult only resorts to the right and you may get an eye-full.
We will be back and thank you to all the staff for a fantastic vacation!

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beautiful resort with so much to do
We travelled as a group of 5, 2 rooms. We upgraded to premium upon arrival, which we felt was worth it. We were able to get dinner reservations at all of the à la cartes we wanted, though they were mostly at 9 pm. The food at all of the buffets and restaurants was exceptional, we enjoyed snorkeling and seeing the turtles and had the great fortune of seeing the monkeys 2 mornings. The grounds were beautifully kept and we found all staff to be really wonderful and friendly.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: AMAZING RESORT!!
This resort was fabulous!! When we booked our travel agent put in a note that we were celebrating our anniversary and when we checked in they gave us a free upgrade to the Adults Only. Our room was beautiful, beds were comfortable and the service was great. When we checked into our room the fridge wasn't working, I called the lobby and they were literally there 10 min later with a new one. This is a fabulous family resort, lots of family entertainment and the waterpark is amazing for the kids. T[... read more]he food was amazing with lots of selection, delicious and never long lines for the buffet. Would like to say the Route 66 restaurant was our favorite, amazing food. The entertainment was good with different "resort style" shows nightly. A big shout out to our servers Elice and Fernanda, these ladies kept the drinks flowing with big smiles, laughter and great personalities. The beach was just okay, the water was great but some rocky areas and not enough chairs. The pools were beautiful but like every other resort not enough chairs and towels on every chair by 7 am and no one around. Be aware for older people and people with mobility issues that it's a big resort from one end to the other with lots of walking. There are trolly cars but they do not run often enough so sometimes you could be waiting awhile. We really liked the location as it's close to the airport and Playa Del Carmen, which is our favourite shopping destination.

Dreams Riviera Cancun: Great resort
The staff was fantastic! friendly, efficient, helpful. We think the occupancy was at 100%, so using the a la carte restaurants meant going early if you did not want to end up waiting over an hour to get in. The rooms are not very soundproof, and we ended up waking up somewhere between 2 and 4 a.m. to the sounds of a baby crying in one of the rooms on either side of ours. The hotel is very family oriented, so there were children galore.
