Gorgeous beach, great scuba diving and wonderful people

Club Amigo is a age worn resort that might have been quite nice in her yesteryears but it is in need of some tlc. If you're looking for a varied cuisine I'd suggest looking elsewhere. But where the resort scores big is the gorgeous expansive beach, aqua marine shallows to Wade in and the warm lovely people who staff this resort. I went scuba diving and was not disappointed by the marine life, colourful coral and caverns and huge walls. Best bang for your buck

The resort is very cozy some parts are a little dated still fine The grounds are kept very nice and all staff are exceptually nice the food is great ther are various snack bars around the resort one buffet resturaunt has a little more to offer then the other so all in all you wont go hungry

Returning Guest

As a returning guest at Club Amigo it was mostly a relaxing week. We stayed in the tropical section on the first floor over looking the pool. We found it very noisy especially on the nights they had the beach parties. Lots of renovations going on, still lots of areas that need work such as walkways and the bathrooms at the pool and bar areas. Staff was friendly but we did miss Rigo and his tasty drinks at the pirate bar. Food was ok, always something to eat. Was not inpressed with the way they g [... read more]ot the fire started using plastic cups when roasting the pig by the pool. Toxic! We did mention this to the gentleman who lit it but it didn't seem to matter. The grounds were well taken care of, lots of pretty flowers all Junior's hard work.

Club Amigo Atlantico guardalavaca, Holguin Cuba

This was our 2nd yr in a row back at CA... some changes around the resort as well as renovations. Rooms an AC were always clean and AC was cold... food this year was great, no complaints at all...maintenance staff doing a great job clear cutting around the resort. Took a local taxi into Holguin, it was great and driver YURI was fantastic, knowledgeable and price was great!!!The wifi isn't very strong at all, especially using your own devices..... Great family vacation

We have been here 3 times now . We had a group of 17 this time , it was Great . Food was good , service was great , the place was clean . They are doing renos so some things are not perfect , but they are working on it . Love it , will be back

Great Resort, Price is right

This hotel is huge. 3 receptions(one not in use), 7 pools(some quiet, some busy, and a kids pool). There are 2 buffets, we found the best one in the Guardalavaca hotel had the best best food. 5 a-la-cart restaurants, excellent. 5 snack bars/restaurants which 1 is a 24 hr snack bar/bar. They even had poutine and pizza. If you go, upgrade from "The barracks" to a Villa or for a little more a Bungalow. The 2 Hotels had good rooms also. They are remodeling 1 of the barracks buildings now, but there [... read more] is 4 of them. (very small dingy, musty rooms). There are 3 beach area's, 1 is very small and quiet, with no services. Another has a pirate ship for a bar, and is small also. The large beach area runs into the public beach and the locals are around you a-lot. There is no bar here either, unless you run up to the pool bar, for a drink. The beaches do not have washrooms. They are gorgeous though. Next to the main beach, there are bars, local pizzeria, and foods. These are not included in your package. At the end of the main beach, 10 minute walk, you can walk up to 4 different lobster/food restaurants. "Lynda Luna" is the new one and the food is great. Great variety of fish, chicken, beef, and pork everywhere. Cooked to your liking. Fly with Cubana Airways, they still serve food on there flights, and provide extra excursions for free. (local native village) Fun Fun. Had a great 2 weeks at this resort.

Comfortable Resort

It was difficult to book the A-La-Cart restaurants for a convenient time. Although I lined up to make reservations to The Italian restaurant upon my arrival to the hotel. The earliest time I could obtain from the reservation desk was 8:00 pm. This is way too late for me, as I take medication with my meals.

Amazing Resort

The hotel, staff at Club Amigo were all fantastic, Had an amazing 7 day vacation with the family will defiantly be going back again.There was a screw up by the travel agency and the staff at the resort could not do enough to help us fix the issue. Cant wait till next winter and go again.

The place to be

We had a great trip. Food good. People are great rooms are clean and fresh Missing club amigo already. Wendy from trip central is the best. I will only book my trips with her. This was my second time there this year and it keeps get better and better Cuba customs very good to deal with quick and fare. Club amigo has tons of thing to do. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!

Grounds spectacular, Food was plentiful, and good. Family of 7 vacationed together and it was just so much fun. Beaches were spectacular also. Swam with the Dolphins and cruised on a large Catamaran in 8 foot swells. The best was meeting the beautiful and kind Cuban people on and off the Resort.

Amazing beaches

The beaches were amazing....we have been to the resort twice now the second time was way better than the first. The customer service was great the rooms were clean. The 2nd stay we stayed in the villas. We highly recommend this room type. The food was ok. There was a good variety of buffet and a la carte however the a la cartes filled up quickly. The beaches were fabulous the pools were dirty not enough chlorine and foggy. The staff always smiling, pacho jessicas patio what a great guy! , the la [... read more]dy in the beauty salon does a great pedicure, the panni press lady at the main buffet never missed a beat what a nice group of people in the dinning room. The young door man smiling eveey second , and norberto our horse and buggy driver welcomed us with open arms to him home! Our kids loved everything and cant wait to go back.

You go here for the beach, sun and the people!

The hotel is very dated and has its faults but if you don't like the room you are staying in you upgrade and a bigger and nicer room like the Villas! Buffet has a good variety of food if you are picky but it won't taste exactly like at home. The entertainment staff make this place! They are fun and energetic and friendly. I had a great time and got the rest and relaxation I went to on vacation for :)

Needs attension

I found the staff to be pleasantad for the most part helpful . The front desk at check in needs signage and an attitude adjustment. For disabled people as myself in villa 6105 more ground transportation needs to be addressed if. when i needed transport for the Mediterranean resturaunt and was told the one drver couldn;t be found. I made arrangements the day before for a 6 AM pick up for luggage. There we no keys for the carts.. The bars are lacking in supplies. ie. no mint, no limes  [... read more]for Mohitos. No tomato juice, running out of tonic at 4 PM. The stink from the septic system at the main lobby, bar coffe bar and pool area maid it intolerable at times. Living in the country I am well aware of septic systems and this is easily rectified. A disappointing vacation, not professionally run at all, even if it is an older resort there is no excuse for fundamentals. My recommendation to friends AVOID AT ALL COST. Bill Weloski.

Amigo Guradalavaca - A very pleasant stay

A beautiful location on a sandy bay. Excellent beach. Coral reef 200 m from the shore, still reachable by swimming from the beach. Or by a paddle boat. Scuba diving center nearby. Hobby cat catamaran sailing available (as a passenger). A few windsurfers in the inventory too, but not very good ones. Bring your own harness and boots. Beginning of March 2017 the water temperature 25-27 C, air 28 - 31 C, steady, fairly strong breeze from the east on shore. Good for kites and winsurfers,  [... read more]and not really impeding swimmers or paddle boaters. The beach gets more crowded during weekends with Cubans beach goers. That's good. That is their country as well. You can rent functional touring bicycles for free, and scooters for 25 CUC per day. A little township Guradalavaca is about 1 km away, and on the scooter you can go farther, for example towards Banes on a hilly winding asphalt road between banana plantations and tall coconut palm trees. The main hotel provides a decent accommodation. So called bungalows,slightly farther from the beach are newer and more modern. The best are so called villas: two story's units with total of 16 rooms in each. These are close to the beach and the newest buildings out of all. A beautiful promenade along the shore leading to the next resort, Brisas. A nice walk, but you might be stopped if you wanted to enter the hotel area (this is not YOUR all-inclusive) The food is absolutely adequate. If you limit yourself to few different dishes per meal instead of trying everything at once, then you will still have some unexplored variety by the end of your stay. And yes, there are a few of a la carte restaurants, for those for whom the standard meals and the 24-hour food serving bars are not sufficient.

Great beach

The beach is beautiful here with a bonus of 2 little other beaches. 1 of the little beaches has a pirate bar and trees for good shade. Enjoyed seeing local Cuban families on the main beach, especially on Sundays. The food at this resort was better than last year. Would like it if Mohitos and Margueritas and diet Sprite were available. Towels in our rooms were not big enough and would appreciate having a shower mat(small towel) every day. We were in gardenview(barracks), ground floor, near the en [... read more]tertainment stage and rectangular pool, which also puts you close to checking desk and one of the buffets so pretty convenient.However, the music is loud in that area until 11pm. Don't put anything outside your patio door to dry...we lost t -shirts, 4 bathing suits and our neighbours lost sandals and shirts. Saw some nice evening entertainment-1 was outstanding-a group of young men from Holguin City-doing break dancing-we were in awe! Everything worked in our room-hot water, toilet, sink, shower. A place for suitcases would be good. Our flight with Sunwing-pleasant staff but not easy to get to washroom-kept asking people to keep aisles clear- for selling duty free products and then for staff change in Fredericton, where there was an hour delay. We left Holguin around 2pm and got to Halifax around 10pm. We were only offered a drink once-somhow we got missed in our area when water was passed out. We should have asked but kept thinking they would eventually come to us. After going through customs on arrival and departure, no organized lineup so not a good situation with so many people.Very few staff scanning and checking carry on luggage. They scanned almost everyone on departure. Seemed to be malfunctioning equipment. Nice bus ride to and from resort...always interesting. Took a very enjoyable "train" ride from resort to a little community one morning for 10 pesos-2nd time I did it. Good chance to see the local communities and to take photos, distribute gifts if you like to...along the way. A few safety concerns at the resort-walking along towards Brisas...some of the wooden structure.. fencing...is broken down and so now is open to high drop off areas.We love this area but it needs a lot of work done. Also need some pool ladders replaced. Enjoyed the pool near the beach with swimup bar and later in the day...the big rectangular pool. We had a lovely 2 weeks overall...the weather was beautiful with that lovely breeze and gorgeous water... Our room was kept clean and tidy. This resort is good value for the cost.

Such a nice resort!

As a repeat customer I can say I was very pleased with this resort! It is the people who are more important to me rather than the building or things in it.However, we did have to move once as the main building can be a bit noisy. (we moved further down the hall away from the bar) Once we were unpacked and settled we were both happy and content! There could always be room for improvment but this is Cuba! We did bring our own towels just in case ours went missing. The a la cart dinning was supurb!, and the buffets had plenty to choose from...we never went hungry..(I'm up five pounds.) Too big!

While I did enjoy my stay here, I found it too big and our bungalows were too far away from the ocean! The food and our room were typical. The staff were friendly and helpful. On the plus side, there were 4 pools and lots of variety for dining, including at least 3 al la carte. The weather was great! If you like big resorts, then you will like it here!

Beautiful People - Amazing Beaches

Breath taking beaches - beautiful people, rooms need a little work. At Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca in Guardalavaca Beach the water is so crystal blue you can see the bottom, the sand is white and soft on the bottoms of your feet. Spent 2weeks and had a great time.

Good value for the price

we were in a bungalow the room was clean and maid service was excellent however the bath room tub had been painted with white pain an was peeling off the tub..both main door and bathroom door were hard to close they scraped the floor and the night bolt did not lock the door. I needed a bar or miny fridge to keep my insulin cold so that it would not spoil in the heat it took 3 days and a constant promise to get a miny fridge which I had to pay for.the bathrooms in the hotel were 50/50 some we [... read more]re smelly and no way to dry your hands as the dryers did not work the other half were better condition.there was a constant smell of sewer in the main loby the food in the alacart restaurants was quite good.the buffet was well supplied most of the time.breakfast and lunch restaurants were very good.the drinks at the bars were below standard, no mohitos watery pina colada. the pool area at the bungalows was excellent and clean as well as the other pools except the pool at the villa section it was green and slimy on several ocasions
