Once again a fantastic stay!!

This was our 8th stay at the Pesquero, and it was fabulous! We noticed many updates and improvements. The staff is amazing and we will definately go back again!! We went with family members who had never been before and they asked was there anything bad about this resort...my answer was "the end"

So worth it!

This resort is very welcoming! The staff is friendly and courteous. But maybe a bit under staffed since it is such a big hotel. The buffet was actually pretty good and the à la carte restaurants were amazing! There was also a pig roast on 2 of the days that we were there. Their coffee station was my favorite.I was disapointed with the night time entertainement. In fact, there was hardly any. The beach and pool are very clean. If I was to make any suggestions, it would be to have more garba [... read more]ge cans in the lobby and to update their washrooms (some toilets didn't even have seats and alot of them didn't flush).

Nice Resort.

My family visited this resort from December 24 till January 1, 2018. The resort was very busy for the Christmas Season. It is a clean resort and my family was happy with food and services. Helpful and friendly staff. It was very difficult to book a restaurant for dinner. We tried the first morning but most of the restaurants were fully booked. We could only make reservations to a few and not till 9 pm which was a little too late for big dinner. Otherwise we enjoyed the food. Beach was  [... read more]clean, however it was impossible to get a chair if we got to the beach after 8:30 AM ! This resort needs more beach chairs. Our room had a broken sliding door, and in the bath tub a broken faucet but it got repaired fairly quickly ( the next day). We were not able to lock our patio door, but we did not worry about it that much since we stayed on the second floor. All these things would be nice in good working condition. Our shampoo and body wash did not get refilled unless we asked the housekeeping ( we left the tips every day:) This resort was supposed to be 5 star but unfortunately we would not give it 5 stars. Overall, it is fairly large and nice resort but we do not think we would go there again.

Very Large Beautiful Hotel

Playa Pesquero Hotel, it is a lovely, resort, great for family and singles, doesn’t matter, all kinds of activities for young and old, the kids had a great time. The choice of restaurants were numerous, just book in advance, and remember to bring slacks for dining out. The fine dining areas are all within walking distance from your rooms, you will definitely get your 10,000 steps plus per day in. The snorkeling was lovely. Book your Swim with the Dolphins. It’s a half day trip for young  [... read more]and old, very magical. Then for the older kids a catarmaran (all day excursion) with dancing and snorkeling at two different locations, wonderful. Your choice of beach or pool. This year has been quite wet with the hurricane season in the fall, rain at night and standing water, so we had a lot of sand fleas, small mosquitos and no seeums. So bring lots of after bite, and my preference Benadryl spray for bites, Off etc. The bites can drive you just a bit crazy. Drink only bottled water, the resort does provide bottled water.

Really enjoyable place

Playa Pesquero in Holguin provides the environment for a beautiful holiday for young and older alike. We ranged in age from 7-70 years. Many positives: Lush white sand on a crystal clear beach with snorkelling, catamarans and kayaking included. Saw really cool fish right off the beach and had a guided tour of the bay in a catamaran. We really felt that the food was quite good with many options for the pickiest of eaters. Loved the Mohijto bar for lunch, La Pipa Beergarden and the ice-cream stand. The buffets were decent and ample. Only had two a la carte restaurants, the Italian one (La Gondola) which had great service and food. The Grill restaurant had good food (my daughter loved the grilled chicken) but it took far to long for dinner (2.5 hours) so the kids were too hungry and tired to make it worthwhile. The rooms were spacious,clean and the beds were relatively comfortable. The mini-bar was always refilled with water, pop and beer as required. The pools were huge so even if the hotel was full, you could find a quieter, shady place with the kids if you so desired. Only used the kids club for one afternoon but I felt I could trust the staff and my daughter had fun. She also enjoyed the kids show in the early evening in the big theatre. What I caught of the adult geared shows were somewhat cheesy and lack lustre but I think that it just wasn't my thing. Between us we went on three tours which we all found highly enjoyable in their own right. The trip to the farm was interesting and eye opening for what Cuban life is like and we loved swimming with the dolphin, especially because we went on a day that wasn't busy. The lobby was usually packed with people so sometimes hard to find a place but not entirely impossible to socialize and play cards with some impromptu entertainment at times. My daughter had to visit a doctor when we were there and service was quick, thorough and professional. One of my criticisms would be that people would just park their towels for what seemed like for days on the chairs at the beach but be no where to be found so it was difficult to find a chair or shade. That's more of a criticism of the guests than the hotel. We didn't really participate in activities at the hotel so I can't comment on them other than to say that I saw some people doing aqua fit at the beach and it looked like fun. Some words of advice though. If you have mobility issues Playa Pesquero is not for you. I love walking so it's not a problem but the grounds albeit gorgeous are expansive so everything can be a trek. Also, the airport is a zoo. I recommend buying the VIP package to use the VIP lounge at the airport and get priority check in. Well worth the money. It didn't hurt that during our stay the weather was lovely and you can't put a price on that.

Good

This was as expected. Very large so a lot of walk. Food was okay, I could always find something to eat. Breach was nice. Pools were good. Rooms are quite run down, but as long as you don’t plan on spending a lot of time in them you will be fine.

Fantastic family friendly resort

We visited during the Christmas break and truly enjoyed the experience. The resort is large and thus we never felt like it was over crowded. It waas easy to find a place by the pool or the beach. Very clean with spacious rooms. Staff were a highlight and great with our kids. Food was better than expected with a really nice spread on new years eve. We would be happy to visit the resort again.

Playa Pesquero

We had a great time here for a week. Weather was great, rooms good, food abundant with good selection and variety. Facilities and amenities all good except internet which is limited and not free. Staff friendly and helpful and most had adequate English that communication not a problem

Playa Pequero

This is our 11th visit to Playa Pesquero. We love it there. The people are friendly and accommodations are wonderful. The excursions are a great time to meet and mingle with people. We took the catarmaran, lobster lunch and swimming with the dolphins tour and also took the Holguin tour. A great time!

Very very Disappointed!!!!

This is our 15th time in Holguin but first time at Playa Pasquero! Always wanted to come here but it was pricey this time we could afford it so decided to take both my University kids to treat them as they needed a good break! We have been to the other two sister resorts on the same beach Blau and Playa Costa this was one of the expensive ones it’s supposed to be a 5 star! Nothing about it was 5 Star!!! So we decided to ignore the reviews and take a chance! Were we WRONG!!!! We came back 2 days ago and I still have stomach cramps and nausea!!! Let me start with the food first OMG it’s true everything there was canned!!!!!! Who wants canned food when you go to a 5 star? And that too when you pay premium during Xmas time?! So all vegetables were canned and as for fish beef chicken during lunch and dinner you have to lineup for 20 minutes to get your food! Because they don’t keep it ready they will cook what you choose and everyone of course lines up because they are hungry! Which is a waste of time!!!! So many times we were so hungry we couldn’t bother standing in a lineup just ended eating bread and crap! As for the other beach restaurants it’s the same thing you order they cook you wait! And they don’t have beef burgers everything there is mixed with pork! What if you don’t eat pork???!!!! Even the beans had pork in it!!!! So food sucked there. As for the rooms no issues there only the maids would not replace the soaps etc thank god we brought ours at the 5 star! The beach is nice we have stayed at the sister hotels so it’s the same beach. Service sucks! No one bothers cleaning your table or tasking your order when you are sitting in the lobby you have to of course lineup again for coffee tea etc only people who know people get service! We got 4 alacarte restaurant out of 5 that’s the rule we went to all because we needed food! Each restaurant took 2 hours to prepare their food which is a waste of time! And yes the washroom at the beach smells of gutter exploded only one toilet works the other doesn’t flush! And no one bothers fixing it either! How goes anyone call this a five star hotel is beyond me!!! It was a waste of money I wish we had gone to Blau instead! Much better food and service! Never again! Please manager don’t bother replying like you do every bad review because if you cared then you would have learnt from all the bad reviews left by people instead of defending yourself fix your resort and please don’t even call it 4 star because even Blau is 10 times better then Playa Pasquero!!!!! So disappointed wish I had not ignored all the reviews read and the water smells there! Of sand! How can filtered water smell???? I am wondering if that’s what is giving me a stomachache!!! It’s still in my system!!! Or was it the food half cooked????? No hot water for tea in the mornings either!!!!

Just great.

Everything was perfect, except I wish they had more bathrooms around the resort. The service was great, the people were friendly, the food was pretty good. I would definitely come back to this one some day.

Always Amazing

this was my 6 visit to this particular resort and as always i am very impressed with all amenities of this resort, The hotel staff are all so friendly and helpful and i recommend this resort to all my friends and family.

A truly all inclusive resort.

Playa Pesquero resort is lovely. The beach is very enjoyable and great to swim, relax, and enjoy throughout the whole day. The food is excellent especially if you like seafood but even if you don’t it’s very good with variety and choices. The people are pleasant and helpful. We went during the week of December 17th and the weather was just right for us, not too hot, and yet warm enough to go swimming. We really enjoyed being there and are planning to go again. Great beach, excellent resort

Lots of space, never a problem to find beach chairs, table to eat etc. Always plenty to eat and drink anytime of the day. Enjoyed walking grounds lots of small wildlife and birds. Service excellent. Snorkelling at one side of beach lots of fun. Private catamarans and other non-motorized water transportation available for free and in excellent condition.

The Best Resort!!

Everything is amazing!! There are a few things i would recommend to update, the buffet, we always went for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as soon as they opened, but alot of the food that is under warmers need to be updated as half the food is lukewarm at best, and considering we come right at the beginning food should still be hot!!! Lobby needs to hire new people for service as it takes forever for someone to come to you to get your drink order!! But overall loved the service, the people are very friendly, the resort is doing alot of renovations since last year and it looks great, keeps getting better and better, i have no doubt alot of improvements will be made the next time i'm go which will be next November!!

The grounds were fantastic The beach excellant The food at the ala Cartes was very good The buffet food was sometimes good and sometimes not so good Our garden view room was ok but it could use an upgrade

Playa Pesquero

We loved the hotel and the service was awesome, we are seriously thinking on going back again next year. We fell in love with the place and the people who worked there. However, we had a little bit of trouble with the food. Some meats were not cooked properly, so we had to trought most of it away. But besides that it was great.

Amazing beach & resort

Our unit was newly renovated & service was excellent. Lots of changes in the resort like new furnishing & plus a gondola has been adden right at the entranced of the hotel. Had a goodtime & meet lots of friends in previous years holidays. Services has improved this year & will be back next year. Our extra week has been approved for 2019 schedule so we hope trip central can check into it when the time comes. Thanks Neil.

Amazing Resort

I will definitely go back to this resort. This resort is absolutely beautiful. People are very friendly, the buffet is not a let down or bland. The rooms are kept clean. I had a chance to experience the Native Indian Village dance,. The dance and the food were amazing! There are plenty of different excursions, which are not pricey, to choose from. Best Hotel I have been in Cuba. Food was amazing. If you like lobster, shrimp. Home made pizza, beer bar and pools were the best can wait to go again. Month of November take bag repelente lots of small mosquitos.
