Great Resort (just a small part of a large group of resorts)

Beach was amazing, pools fantastic. We were up early enough that finding a spot on the beach was not a problem. Beach is pretty crowded but there were plenty of palapas for shade (a feature which made so that we could hang out at the beach most of the day - not a lot of the nearby resorts had decent shade and therefore their beaches were much less crowded). We paid a little extra and took a Segway tour which was a lot of fun. Food was good, room was clean and we always felt safe. Nothing  [... read more]extraordinary but all very good. Staff were hit and miss. This may be due to the size of the resort and the lack of connection as there are just too many people and too many staff, but it was definitely something that we noticed. There were a couple of times where we could see and feel their discontentment (again not all but it was the first time we had seen this at a resort to this extent). Overall a great resort and one that I would recommend to others.

Great for families

Hotel was very well maintained and the grounds were in great shape. Lots to do for the kids, especially the water park. A big property, but the trolleys make it so easy to get everywhere. Beach is pristine and water is warm.

Great resort!

We have stayed at this resort three times since January 2016, and we like it. The rooms are clean and all around the resort is very clean and beautifull. Food buffet has a wide selection of food with different themes every night, and the a la carte restaurants are so good if you can manage to get in. If you like rum well this is the place. The only disappointment I have is that they do not have any slushy drinks, as their machines cant keep up with the heat in the bars by the pools, which is all [... read more] I like but hey the beer was good and now they stock the room fridge with coors light, and juice boxes for kids along with a va riety of pop and water bottles and bags of lays chips.Drive from airport is less than 30 minutes all on the main highway.Oh and you can also buy California wines at the buffet and bring the bottle to your room if you want.

Punta cana ba princepal

Lenny was fantastic the resort was perfect this was our second time their and we loved it food was great room was clean beaches where clean people was fantastic when we had problems the host was their to help

Great resort

It was well situated - no problem to get wherever we wanted with the train cart. Really enjoyed the entertainment - great shows every night. Food no problem and the employees were very qualified and made us feel very welcome at all time. Cleansiness impectable. The one thing I am not happy about -really not happy about is that we paid for 10 days and only got 8 days - I really think that those 2 days should have been added at the end of our holliday or at least received some refund or com [... read more]pensation for it. Between the 3 of us our trip cost 10,000.00 and only got to enjoy 8 days out of our 10 days. I think Trip Central should have done something about it or could still do something about it. On top of that we had to pay for 2 extra rooms one in Timmins 150.00 and one in Toronto 170.00 which I think trip Central should compensate us for.

Excellent resort

Everything was perfect.Room was very clean, staff friendly,huge resort but very beautiful.I strongly recomend it I'll return for sure.They have several pools located nearby.Bahia Principe Punta Cana is the best buffet for dinner.The beach was great I swam in the ocean every day.You don't to leave the resort complex,there isn't much to see outside of it and shopping is a distance away.

Very BIG but AMAZING RESORT!!

We loved the Grand Bahia Principe "Punta Cana". it takes a couple days to familiarize yourself with the grounds as they are HUGE! but tons to do. The property is extremely clean, staff are very polite. Drinks are abundant. Beach is one of the nicest we have visited. Food was just incredible (at the buffet), each night features a different theme. If you would like to reserve a specialty restaurant, try doing so the week prior to your visit as they book up fast. Bahia Principe Punta Cana

Resort is beautiful and well maintained , Lots of pools and large wide beach, TOO MANY BEACH CHAIRS TOO CLOSE TOGETHER !!! Could hardy get out of chair without falling on person beside you. The place was infested with tiny flies that bite like crazy, My legs are still red, swollen and itchy, Not the resorts fault but inconvenience still exists. Amazing Resort!

We loved everything about our fantastic holiday!!! We have stayed at this same resort a few times and have never been disappointed! The beach is spectacular!!! The food and drinks were fantastic! Can't wait to go back!

Acceptable Resort

Overall the resort is nice - clean, safe. Staff are friendly and efficient. Food is okay overall - only downside were some of the specialty restaurants (the Garden Court was terrible). Biggest complaint - lack of beach size for the thousands of people staying at the resort. Packed in like sardines. The RIO next door had a far better guest to beach access (loungers and Beach Area)

Average to Good Resort

In our opinion (myself and my two sisters), we thought the hotel grounds were very clean. The pools seemed very clean. We only swam one late afternoon in the pool next to the ocean because we had returned late from an excursion. The pool was warm and clean. Our room was located next to the ocean which was a plus for us. The transportation at the hotel (shuttle train) was good for us as one sister has a walking disability. The room was clean. The main issue we had in our hotel room was the [... read more] safe as the instructions were not very clear. We had to get someone to come twice to help us out. There were other small issues but we were able to resolve them without too much delays like we had two towels rather than three as we were three in the room, the coffee machine wasn't working but we were given a new one. We kept on asking for an additional coffee cup and saucer for our afternoon coffee but that never happened so we had to take the matter into our own hands and get one from the buffet. When we arrived at the resort on our first day, we were given a photocopy of the resort map which I thought was not very professional considering the amount we paid for this holiday. We were able to get a coloured map half way through our holiday only to find out on our last day that, at the guest's office where you do your flight check-in, there were plenty on the desk. Everyone should be given a coloured map of the resort regardless the resort you are staying at. I found that to be poor judgment on the part of the hotel management. The wine at the buffet was not very good. Its like it was watered down but the wine at the specialty restaurants was good. The drinks at the bars were OK but not exceptional. We would have liked Presidente beer in our fridge in our room instead of Coors Lite. We have Coors Lite at home but not Presidente as it is their local beer. The food at the specialty restaurants (Mexican, Japanese and Mediteranean) was excellent. The food at the buffet for breakfast was very good but the buffet for supper was not very good. We did not like the food all that much for supper. It was average but no more than that. At Italian night at the buffet, there was no more tomato sauce, no more mushrooms and no more tomatoes at 8:00 pm and there were not making any more even though the buffet was opened for another two hours. If you have Italian night, you should have a lot of already prepared platters to choose from. I only find lasagna and that was good. There was not a lot of choices to choose from at the buffet considering it was Italian night. I would have expected more choices. We booked two excursions through our airline representative and that was very good. We would recommend them to anybody (Runners and Marinarium). That was a lot of fun especially swimming with the sharks and visiting the Dominican people in the country. The Dominican people are very nice and courteous people. They spoke our language and we practiced our Spanish with them as we speak French, English and some Spanish. We had great weather and always found chairs at the beach. The beach was a definite 5/5. What was missing at this resort was animals, like Flamingos, peacock, birds, turtles, ponds with fish,etc. including cats. The two cats we saw at this resort did not look all that healthy. I have seen cats at other resorts where they looked much healthier and the hotel staff confirmed they were fed daily. Not sure about these two cats. That really bothered us. All in all, we were glad we went but we would have to think again before booking at a Bahia Principe resort in the future.

February 14*21 visit

We stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana, Our stay was good. The hotel needs updating as it,s age is showing. Our bar fridge had water soft drinks and Coors light....really....should have been the local beer. The drinks are average as they serve the local liquors unless you stay at the Luxury hotels of the Bahia where they serve the premium liquors. I did not like the fact that in the lobby bar there was an additional fee for premium liquors. The beach is beautiful however it is crowd [... read more]ed. We had seven in our group and in order to get beach chairs together we would go to the beach around 7:30 to get chairs. There were plenty of pools with swim up bars. The buffets were good but the food choices were repetitive. The A la cartès were good/average. We had some issues but they were resolved quickly. Whenever we called for extra towels they brought them right away. We had a few servers in the A la carte restaurants that were average but for the most post the staff was friendly. If I were to go back I would stay at one of the Luxury Bahia resorts.

Big resort

We have been to other Bahia resorts and they are big but this one is much larger. We were disappointed by staffs lack of interaction or sense of urgency in some situations. Overall it was clean considering how busy the resort was. It could use an update in the Amber green resort where we stayed. There are a lot of amenities but getting to and from them to the beach was arrugas.Only certain trams ran on one side which meant you had to walk or wait for a different tram. It was very crowded wi [... read more]th loungers making it difficult to navigate the beach area. Food was good,but service could be better.

Good resort

We enjoyed our week at the Grand Bahia Príncipe Punta Cana. The resort could use some updating, which only stands out because of the brand new Fantasia beside it and the adults only Ambar on the other side. The beach is beautiful, the many pools were never crowded. The food was great, however we were only able to get one a la carte reservation, which was disappointing. I will also mention the bugs, there were tons of mosquitos in our room. They offered to fumigate, but we didn't want to spray the room with something we weren't sure of. They also had "no seeums" (not sure if that's a proper name) and we came home with a ton of itchy bug bites. We did have some rain, so that may have made the bugs worse. All in all it was a good resort and I would recommend as long as you brought bug spray or aren't bothered by mosquitos😊

Excellent resort for the whole family.

Huge resort with excellent transportation to all points of attraction, rooms very clean and refreshed daily, beach and pools ready for everyone to enjoy. All personnel friendly and happy to help with any request. Very enjoyable and relaxing vacation.

Very fun resort

The resort has a lot to offer for any age group. Lots of entertainment at night and daily activities. The food & drinks were also great. The check in was pretty slow but other than that we had an amazing time. Not everyone speaks the greatest English but we managed fine. I would recommend this resort to anyone and would go again :)

Awesome

We had a great time. The staff from guest service to housekeeping were friendly and helpful. The food was good. We especially enjoyed the BBQ a la carte...steak was soooo good. The grounds were immaculate. We will definitely return.

Beautiful Resort

Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana was recommended to me from a friend. I am so glad I went with her suggestion. The resort is amazing. Very clean, the food is awesome, people are so friendly. I will definitely be going back there for another stay!

Huge Resort

This resort had the best food that I have experienced in the DR. The grounds were spotless, staff were very polite, but the room was ok. If you are looking for a quiet resort, this one is not for you! This resort has basically 6 resorts in one area. The beach was extremely overcrowded as well as most of the pools. If you like action and lots of people, this resort is for you.

Average resort, not an average price.

This resort is average at best. Food and drink are fine, you can what you are looking for but nothing is outstanding. Drinks are poor, and nothing is made fresh. The downside to this resort is the service, no one is really interested in their job unless management is around. For example we would have to ask 3-4 times for coffee/water in the morning. The room itself was fine. We traveled with our 6 month old and they brought a pack n play after numerous requests. The resort is quite large, ac [... read more]cessibility not an issue. Ramps everywhere. We requested a ground floor room (for the stroller) and that was accommodated. Trollies running all day long. Room service is quick but menu very limited. One positive to this resort are the grounds, perfectly manicured and stunning. Would make nice backdrop for a wedding. The resort is fine but we have travelled extensively so it did not measure up. The weather was perfect and that's why we went.
