Wonderful resort

Beach: Awesome (it's Veradero) Staff: Wonderful. Every single one of them. Food: Better than most in Cuba. Some nice extra BBQ's etc. A La Cartes were very good (given that it's Cuba) Pools: 4 pools to choose from: active with a bar to out of the way and peaceful Rooms: good size, well kept, clean, with ANCIENT mattresses! Other: Very international (at least in May) - which was great. Why no Legendario rum ?? ..and prepare yourself for a long line-up to make your a la carte reserva [... read more]tions. The bedspread was simply gross. Old and MUSTY!

Not the best

Not happy with the food and service. Our room was nicknamed the "parts room" because so many things were missing. Did enjoy the beach and had fun at the pool. The weather was wonderful and hot. Love Cuba but not the resort

Awesome time.)

Hotel was nice and very clean. Beds were comfortable and sheets were completely changed daily. Bathroom towels were available but beach towels were limited. Grounds were well kept and most staff were awesome. Beaches absolutely beautiful with lots of activities and chairs on the beach. Only negative would be the food. A la carts were good but supper buffets not so great.

Beautiful holiday!

This was my second time at this resort. The resort is friendly and clean. Great staff. And the best portion of beach on the strip. Lots of space for all ages with multiple pools and restaurants. Al la carte meals were excellent. And being a returning customer we were surprised with an amazing lobster and steak meal in a beautiful patio by the beach. Would definitely return.

Not what we hoped for.

Booked an Iberostar resort expecting better quality. Sadly this was not the case. The outside looks very grand, grounds are well kept. My first room had no air conditioning, ceiling fan didn't work, smell of mold was awful and there were cockroaches. No sleep that night. Moved to a better room next day...AC was loud enough to drown out the show from the theater each night, toilet leaked out into the hallway (never fixed during 6 day stay), pillows are chip foam and old. Towels never comple [... read more]tely replenished, no beach towels 2 days of 6. Beach chairs are hard plastic with very few foam pads. What pads there were seemed to be kept for the pool users. So uncomfortable. There were attendants on the beach to help you find a chair and a spot, which was nice.. Beach was gorgeous. Majority of people were lovely. Service is very much tied to how you tip. Cockroaches seen on the bar in the lobby...so disgusting. Check in was brutal...took an hour at 1am. Food was not too bad for Cuba but by day 5 I was tired of the same things every day.

Meh... 3* at best

Lets keep it simple. Pros: -Beach is great..busy, but great. Lots of palapas to lay under! -Maid service was amazing friendly and clean -Rooms were ok minus one thing (see cons) -Skydive.. OMG amazing best thing I have ever done! DO IT! ...... that's all Cons -Bar service the worst! Especially at the lobby bar.. all they do is text on their cell phones and ignore you -loads of ignorant people... from a communist country I wont name. -Food was so bad I was sick almost every da [... read more]y until I stopped eating the meat and lived on pizza and pasta for 4 days. -my shower head was 3 feet off the tub floor so I had to go down on my knees to wash my hair, front desk wrote it down several times but still did nothing about it, I thought she just couldn't understand my English so I asked in Spanish and still...nothing -We had a Spa room, no bottle of rum in our room complained 3 times got it as we were getting on the bus to come home so ya... good luck same happened for our $50 spa coupon I had to really dig in to get that, I don't mind if they forget but going to the front desk every day kinda feels like a waste of your vacation time. Last trip to Cuba EVER! I'll eat dog food and put a tent in an ally downtown Toronto and get better service. (just so people know, I have been to Cuba many times and I know food is not great and service is lacking...I expect it there, honestly.... but this was just bad... bad bad...like make me never want to go back bad...) and the CUC is getting out of control so save your Peso's people!

Poor attitude

The resort is in an amazing location. The beach and grounds are great. However, the staff and service are lacking. I had so many bad interactions with staff, It was the rule as opposed to the exception. For example: the phone in our room didn't work at all. I went to the front desk 3 days in a row to get it repaired, each time they put it on a clipboard and said someone would come by to fix it, but nobody ever came. I went back the last time and they sent me to talk to the customer service manag [... read more]er, who made a phone call and said someone would be right up, again, no one ever showed. I went back and was offered breakfast on the beach.. how was this going to fix the phone exactly?? (FYI, The phone never did get repaired) Every difficulty was met with shrugs, by front desk staff, wait staff, bar staff, customer service.. the only consistently good department we dealt with was housekeeping; they were great! My wife's father, who is over 80, was checked into a room that was not cleaned since the last checkout. He slept on top of a dirty bed the first night as the front desk shrugged when he went to get this remedied. We had to go to the Sunwing rep the next day to get the room made up, so they offered an extra night in the a la carte restaurants.. this is how the placate guests with problems.. it's and all inclusive resort; don't offer me more food! As it was, the restaurants were "booked" and we never got the extra night anyway. I was at the small pool and went in to order a drink at about 3:45, ( the pools close at 7 ) and the bartender said to me, Have a beer! I told him I wanted a long Island Iced tea, ( which he had made earlier.) His response? " You're crazy! I'm closed!.. That's service! I had been tipping very well as I worked in the service industry for 20 years, but this obviously made no difference. All in all; I will avoid Iberostar resorts in the future, as there is a serious problem with the staff & management attitude toward guests. Outside the resort, I found the people of Cuba to be friendly and the country is amazing, I'll be back but will avoid this company.

Wouldn't go back

The resort was in need of a lot of repairs. The staff always treated us like an inconvenience, yet were pushy and asking for tips all the time. When we checked in our room had a broken safe, TV, and air-conditioner. When telling the front desk agent she responded "all the rooms are like that" Finally we got one that worked properly. The beach was beautiful. Food was okay.

Terrible Resort

Worst resort I have ever been to. Food was terrible, service was terrible. Hotel staff not friendly at all. Room maids terrible too. Only 1 out of 4 elevators working to service 4 buildings. Unlit pathways at night very unsafe for walking. Would not recommend this resort to anyone.

Great beach, very nice resort

I stayed at the Iberostar Laguna Azul the week of April 22 to 29 with my 3 daughters, all in their early 20's. Overall, the resort was very nice. The beach was beautiful and the pools were very nice. The flights, transfers to and from the airport and check in/out went very smoothly and were stress-free. The food was ok (similar to others resorts we have seen in Cuba). The services (wait staff, etc) was generally good. We had one incident with the housekeeping staff which was addressed quickl [... read more]y and professionally by our Air Transat Rep. Overall, this was a very nice resort and I would recommend it for someone looking to visit Cuba.

Wonderful resort/ great vacation

Resort was excellent

The resort was excellent. This is probably one of the better places I have personally stayed at in Cuba, during my six trips. The bathrooms were nice and clean, the room was very spacious and we upgraded to an ocean view, which was more like a pool view but it was really nice anyway. The food was also as good as food in Cuba can be. The restaurants were disappointing. After one reservation we wanted to cancel the other reservations but went a second time as well which turned out slightly be [... read more]tter but other than being served was probably same or lesser quality food than the buffet. Surprisingly there were some sauces to flavour the food. I had brought my own hot sauce but didn't end up having to use it. Overall nice resort, good food for Cuba and would definitely recommend it. Hit and miss

Pros: beautiful beach with lots of room (sand) and plenty of shade. Even if you arrived around 10 a.m Food: flavorful and quite the variety Beautiful country Ability to truly relax Feel very safew travelling off resort. Cons Resort quite large and maybe not enough staff Bathroom a bit inconvenient if you spend your time at beach. Closest one by pool and it was out of service our entire week as were other washrooms on resort. Bathrooms other than in your room often lacked toilet pa [... read more]per, soap or paper towel so make sure you bring plenty of packs of tissue and hand sanitizer. Our room had issues, first toilet didn't flush and then once it was fixed, it would constantly rUn once fixed. It took 2 more days for that to get fixed. Safe was closed when we arrived but they were quick to send someone up to open. Downfall was you had to be in room when they opened safe even though we hadn't put anything in it. Bar fridge didn't work, took 4 days before it was fixed. Overall lots of small things needing repairs for example locks on bathroom stalls Need to remember supplies are limited and countries standards are a bit lower than ours.

Beautiful resort

The Iberostar is absolutely beautiful. The lobby is big extending to an outside deck overlooking the pool area. The grounds are well kept, 4 nice pools and delicious drinks and coffee. The sand is a bit coarse which I didn't enjoy much but still a nice beach with lots and lots of umbrellas. The food is good but repetitive. I would go back to this resort.

Amazing resort

This resort was beautiful. The layout of this resort is great. The staff very friendly. And very helpful. A lot of stuff going on at this resort. Beach was beautiful. Nightly shows every night. The only down point was that the food in buffet didn't change much at night time. You would think they would have salad every night. Which they only had it one night. Sometimes the food wasn't that hot. Which it should be. A la carte were really good.

Amazing resort!!

For Cuba...food was great, entertainment was fabulous and the accommodations were comfortable and clean. Only complaint was service in lobby bar. Very slow and not engaging with customer. Otherwise, a great vacation and I will return

Laguna azul iberostar Cuba

The hotel lobby was great very clean and well serviced staff , the room were cleaned on time and kept very neat. I would add the beds were rather hard and blankets could be upgraded .Bathrooms around the resort did however lack toilet paper even in the women's washrooms and male washrooms were often closed for unknown reasons making the female washrooms unisex. The food was great just harder to access the buffet when the hotel was fully booked which it was , I'd say more walking room is needed i [... read more]n between the buffet sections. The pool areas were all great and the snack bars were a reliable source of drink and food during the day. There is a real lack of washrooms in between the hotel and the beach , as a male I got by but I think females would find this a problem. The night life at Laguna azul is probably better then most resorts , the entertainment night shows were well put together and worth seeing every night. The a la carts had great service and food. The staff overall at Laguna was very friendly even if you didn't tip them every single time you seen them. I can't say I'd go back mainly only because I don't like going to same place twice for all inclusive however I would recommend it to anyone going to Cuba 🇨🇺

Over crowded and tired hotel

This is my second time traveling to the Iberostar Laguna Azul and it will be my last. The resort was completely booked when we stayed mid April, and it felt a zoo. The staff at the resort were tired and it showed In the service they provided. I felt bad asking them for a drink or a coffee so I often would go without. that's no way to spend a vacation...especially after spending good money to go. The food at the resort was awful.... Yes I understand it's Cuba and I didn't go there for the food bu [... read more]t it became sickening to eat after the 3rd day, as the food at the buffet never changed. At the end of the trip I just stopped eating because I had no appetite for anything. If you want my advice, just save your money and don't go to Cuba at all. After the first few days on the trip, We ended up having to go to a hospital outside of varadero and it was an absolute nightmare. I could never return to Cuba after experiencing the unsanitary conditions, irresponsible doctors and lack of medical equipment necessary for even basic healthcare. Do your research....it's not worth it.

Horrible Experience

Had a horrible experience at this resort. Staff were not nice at all. The only person we liked was the ice cream girl. Medical team sucked. Worst resort I have ever been to. Will never go back here, or to Cuba!

Not the vacation we were hoping for

The hotel grounds are ok but I have been to cuba 12 times and this is the first 5 star and I saw nothing that made this resort any better than a 4 star resort. The food was horrible. All 12 of us got sick at some point on the trip with diarrhea and it lasted several days. The hotel was completely booked while we were there so that made for extremely long line ups for drinks and food. There was always a fight for shady seats by the pool.
