I can honestly say , the only thing good about the resort was the beach , the buffet was closed , the cigar lounge was closed, the disco was closed , they had one restaurant for the whole resort and only served chicken, pork or fish every day the same thing , lobby bar closing at 10:30 pm , hardly any entertainment. Got there and gave us room with 2 beds when we are a couple, had to fight for a room , stayed at elegance side a bottle of rum was supposed to be given , never got it , only Yam[... read more]ila and Roxanne were of help and upgraded to a better room , a far from that , terrible experience.......

Resonance Musique Varadero: Satisfactory
This resort was just okay.
The room was comfortable, the air conditioning was cold.
You only get one towel each for your entire stay. We used the app to request fresh ones and they never arrived. No bath towels or hand towels.
That one towel for the beach, shower, pool everything.
Also, you had to ask for toilet paper for the room everyday or resorted to taking it upon yourself to take it from the shared bathrooms, that were in disarray.
Doors off hinges, no toilet seats.
My major co[... read more]ncern was that the pool music went on at 6:53 am in the morning.
LOUD is an understatement. It was the same playlist everyday, and so loud. No one is at the pool at that time. It was unnecessary. Used the app again to share our frustration, but they didn't care.
It was so loud that the balcony glass doors rattled and you could feel the beat in your body. It was annoying to say the least and made it unbearable to stay in the room. If you are looking to get some sleep in the mornings do not go here. Even during the day at the pool when guests were enjoying the waterslide, the waterfall bar; people were going to the dj board and turning it down themselves.
It seemed that most were displeased at the volume. I get that the place is promoting a good time and music, but it was absolutely absurd. It's not music at that level, just noise.
The food was alright but the chicken was always raw or very much undercooked and the tools used to cook always had raw juices as they sat in the tray with the uncooked meat while grilling.

Grand Memories Varadero: Summer vacation for 7 pax
Check-In Experience: Arrived at 9:30pm, waited an hour with only one staff member at the desk to check in newly arrived guests. Many of us were tired and hungry from the trip but due to understaffed check-in, we missed the buffet. It was disappointing because this could have been prevented especially during off-peak hours.
Room Conditions: Room wasn’t in great shape, but the AC worked well on 2 out of 3 rooms.
It was dated with occasional maintenance issues, though cleanliness and air conditio[... read more]ning are usually acceptable. The resort needs a major overhaul.
Wi-Fi & Connectivity: Terrible Wi-Fi. It is unreliable and slow, especially in rooms and even in the main lobby. Wifi at Snack Bar was better.
Dining & Service: Buffet closes at 10pm, snack bar mishandled your order with a 30-minute delay due to poor communication. Service can be inconsistent, with some staff being very attentive and others less so. Food is repetitive but sufficient, and delays in service are not uncommon.
Overall Vibe: Underwhelming service despite low guest volume. The resort has a lively atmosphere and great beach access, but service quality varies, and maintenance issues persist.
We had a terrible experience with customer service during our stay. Upon arrival, we were assigned a room on the third floor, despite having a mobility issue and requesting a ground-floor room. There is no elevator, and we were told to return the next morning to request a change.
The process was chaotic. Staff gave us conflicting times for when the new room would be ready (3pm, 3:30pm, 4pm, 4:30pm). They blamed shift changes and linen delays, none of which should have been our concern. When we spoke directly to housekeeping, they confirmed that two rooms were ready. Upon returning to customer service, staff were angry and questioned how we knew about the rooms—they were saving them for new guests, even though four other room change requests were pending (we saw the sheet).
Eventually, we were given a ground-floor room, but the entire process was unnecessarily stressful and poorly handled.
Customer service was dismissive, disorganized, and unprofessional. Staff were more concerned with internal logistics than guest comfort.
We are a family of 7 and we booked 3 superior rooms (Bldg #23). We do NOT recommend this resort based on our experience (July 21-25).

Blau Varadero: Fantastic Spot
Just returned from the Blau Varadero. This is a fantastic resort. Nice and compact in size. We had a Select Oceanview Room. Perfect. Great balcony to sit on looking at the pool and ocean. Everything worked great in the room. Air conditioner...awesome!
Beer, Water, and Pop in the fridge. Great water pressure in the shower and hot if you want it. Our house keeper was great. She kept everything nice and clean. The lobby at this place is amazing!!! Totally unique. I’ve been to many different resort[... read more]s. Nothing like this one! We had Select so we also had access to the Chill Out Bar in the evening. Very nice (air conditioned) spot to hang out for a drink or cappuccino (delicious). The staff there are so friendly! Select also has a morning breakfast restaurant. Order from the menu. We went there most days. Food at this resort was great. I’m a picky eater. Lots of selection. No shortages for us. The 2 a la carte restaurant were yummy. The beach….so beautiful! Soft white sand. The water is nice and warm but refreshing. We’ve been to many different resorts in Cuba. 4-5 stars.
The Blau for us was definitely a 5 Star. We’ve never gone to the same resort twice but I could see us returning here.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great resort!
I really don't have a high expectations when it comes to the resort. The room is up to my likings, it was clean and nicely done. The washroom is clean, which is so important. There are couple of observations in this resort that I believe needed attention and improvement: A) There was a foul smell by the pool. At one point we thought it was the sewers. B) Too many birds by the dining area. These birds would fly, land on to the food and feed on the foods, which is unsanitary. The staff should pay a[... read more]ttention and be vigilant on keeping the area/food clean at all times. C) The tour to Havana was too pricey, not worth the trip. The lunch provided was not appetizing. The tour should have included the visit to the local vendors, where tourist could bargain some Cuban souvenirs like arts etc.

Blau Varadero: WORST Hotel I've ever been
Washroom door knob fell on my toes, rooms so ordinary, filthy surroundings, Foods taste AWEFUL, Fruit Drinks taste nothing, same shit foods served daily, we ended up buying our food elsewhere, pool opens at 10am - 5pm while sun still up and shining so hotel is quite the whole time, No entertainment , No nightlife at all. We sneak at nearby hotels like Paradisus wherein lots of guess partying and enjoying their stay.
Highly NOT Recommended this Hotel, it's waste of time and money. It's easy to [... read more]buy Good Reviews.

Melia Las Americas: Amazing Resort
This was our second time at Melia Las Americas and for the second year in a row, it did not disappoint. We pay the extra money and upgrade to the Level. We think it’s totally worth it. Less busy pools, fantastic service, pool and beach right outside the rooms, the list goes on and on. Our concierge (and now friend) Tanya makes sure everything is perfect for us and checks in regularly when we are there. The hotel is clean and, there’s air conditioning in most indoor areas. Many people always ask [... read more]“how’s the food”. My answer is always “so good”! The a la carte restaurants have so many delicious options. The buffet is fine. Lots of options - veg, meats, pastas, breads. The mango though…let me tell you, might be the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Get to the breakfast (and sometimes lunch) buffet early because it goes quickly. We will continue to return to Melia Las Americas. 10/10

Sol Palmeras: Nice resort
The ocean was very beautiful landscape was very nice. The only thing I can say is the food. My kids didn't eat much there not much variety. We stayed at the bungalow, which was a little far from the hotel so walking distance from front and back of the hotel was a little bit of a hassle. I wish we were scheduled inside the hotel but they didn't have enough room for beds for two adults and two children. I find the staff for nice, but sometimes they just did not smile as much. It's not as the same [... read more]service as you would get before it's like they were forced to work there.Overall, the resort was nice just the bungalows the walking back-and-forth for a little bit of a struggle.

Melia Las Americas: Melia Las America review
Our experience in this hotel has not been the greatest. I’ve been going to this resort many years, and I have to say that this time the level of service and quality of food has diminished. The staff seemed to be struggling serving people, and we’re not very efficient
The rooms are dated, and the hotel itself needs an upgrade our air conditioning, although it was working was very noisy and had trouble sleeping at night.
We paid extra for the level and it was definitely not worth it for what[... read more] we paid for especially since when I went to the bar to get the level alcohol beverages, half of the time they were missing.
The quality of food is definitely not what it used to be this would be compared to a three star resort. I will not be going back to this resort.

Grand Memories Varadero: Worst 7 days
We recently stayed at this resort and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived.
We arrived very late at night with our 18-month-old child. The check-in process took over an hour due to an apparent lack of staff. We stood in line for more than an hour while a separate issue was being escalated in front of us. Despite clearly seeing that our child was becoming increasingly fussy, the receptionist made no effort to prioritize our check-in or ask a coll[... read more]eague to assist. The lobby was hot, not air-conditioned, and filled with mosquitoes, which made the wait even more uncomfortable. There was no consideration shown for families with small children.
Once we finally reached the front desk, we were told that the two rooms we originally booked were far from the beach and pool. We were offered an upgrade to side-by-side rooms closer to the beach and pool for an additional \$240, which we accepted.
When we arrived at our rooms, however, one was not ready. It was dirty, with unclean bathrooms, no towels or toilet paper, and unmade beds. It was already past 1:00 a.m. when two maids arrived to make the beds, but the room remained unclean and felt uncomfortable to sleep in. This led to us effectively losing our first night due to poor organization on the resort's part.
The issues did not stop there. The phones in our rooms were not working, so any time we needed assistance, we had to walk all the way to the lobby—only to have most of our concerns ignored. The following day, we were given premium bracelets as a courtesy for the previous night’s issues, which only gave us access to the premium restaurant. We were told this did not include minibar refills, which felt like an insincere gesture given the inconvenience we experienced.
Towels were also a persistent issue. We were never able to exchange our beach towels throughout the entire stay, despite multiple complaints. The room itself was in poor condition—doors were misaligned, the balcony door was extremely difficult to open and had no lock, and the room felt consistently damp, making the beds and overall environment very uncomfortable. My elderly mother had a particularly difficult time as the bathtubs and showers were installed so high up that getting in and out was unsafe.
As for the dining experience, the premium restaurant offered very small portions and mediocre food, while the buffet was nearly inedible. There were flies landing on the food, plates, and cutlery, creating serious hygiene concerns. Although I have visited Cuba many times and understand the limitations around food, this experience was by far the worst I’ve had.
Even the currency exchange machine was consistently out of order, adding to our frustrations.
In summary, our stay was marked by disorganization, lack of professionalism, and poor customer service. The upgraded rooms we paid extra for did not reflect the quality we were promised, and based on that, we can’t imagine what the standard rooms must be like.
I would not return to this resort nor recommend it to anyone. This was a waste of money and an unfortunate experience for our family.

Memories Jibacoa: Memories Jibacoa to remember
It was a wonderful experience in Jibacoa - first of all, the beach with the reef. You don't need to book a trip as in other hotels - here the reef is literally two steps from the beach. The staff is very friendly and helpful, so the hotel is maintained very well. The food and the three restaurants were great. I was surprised to see The Opera night performance with three wonderful singers performing opera hits and some timeless classics. Thus, I would recommend this hotel for those who want a rel[... read more]axing and quiet vacation with the amazing underwater reef fish snorkelling experience.

Hotel Tuxpan: Very Relaxing Way to start the Summer
What a great trip. Upon arrival you are greeted by staff ready to help you and check you in. The resort was very clean and the staff was super friendly. You cannot beat the beach- absolutely beautiful. The buffet was small, but they never ran out of food. At every meal you could have something prepared fresh on the spot. Every night there was usually two grilled selections. It varied between fish, pork and chicken. One night there was a seafood option and crab legs. The food was flavourful[... read more]- I was pleasantly surprised. I quite enjoyed the soup. There were not any "a la carte" dinners to book, but they had a special dinner in lieu of the buffet where you were seated and were given the options of a appetizer, a main and a dessert and it was delicious!! The staff that worked in the buffet were super friendly and always greeted you with a smile. Towel service was great. You could change your beach towels whenever you wanted from the "beach house". The only time I heard of anything running out was hamburgers at the snack bar, but that was often later in the evening and were replenished for the next day, however there were still other options of things you could order from the snack bar. The animation team was great. The entertainment staff were so friendly. The only "disappointment" was one of the pools was closed (but I was made aware of that in advance, so it was not a surprise). On their website, it talks about a disco- however the disco is closed so there was not an entertainment option for after 11pm unless you went into Varadero (which is only a couple of kilometres away). A nice surprise was that on the website it says you have to pay for wifi. But you did not. It was included and was very reliable- except on the beach. Overall it was a great experience.I felt very safe. I would definitely go back.
