Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Very Nice Resort, Amazing Food, Amazing Service
We really liked the hotel as it was relatively small. The facilities were very acceptable to our needs, and the staff, service and food, especially at the Luna restaurant, made our stay especially memorable. There were lots of Beach and pool-side chairs available .... never a problem getting seating anywhere. The staff were so friendly ... we got to know many by name. Excellent, Excellent stay.

Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: A 3 star hotel advertising as a 5 star!
I have never written a negative review and I am about to do so.
Let me start with the positive: The staff ( with the exception of a couple at the front desk). Everyone was very welcoming, helpful and just lovely. Activities by the pool seemed entertaining.
Now,, the disappointment : upon our arrival, we were told that we had to pay WiFi per each needed item ( the description of our package mentions WiFi included). Then , we had booked a superior room with Ocean view and were given a very[... read more] basic room with view on the pool ( bathroom had blood stains on the ground). After complaining about the room we were literally told “ room with ocean view meant partial view to the oceanâ€. I fully disagreed and the partial view also meant to bend sideways on the balcony to see a very small part on the Ocean. We were then proposed $1,000 to upgrade to front view and with one bed ( we were 2 friends traveling together ), which we declined. After many complaints and harassing their front desk ( not something I really enjoyed) for 2 days, we were finally moved to a basic room but with both a pool and ocean view.
Food was mediocre with great service. This hotel needs a design revamp and can’t be considered a 5 star hotel. It is no more than a 3 stars.

Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: Great resort with some minor issues.
At first I wasn't sure about the hotel. On arrival they didn't have my reservation and there was no water or beverages available on arrival. When our reservation was finally confirmed, our luggage was taken to a "check in" area while we awaited our room. We were never offered a place to freshen up or change from our flight.
When we finally got our room, I was happy to discover that we got king bed and a view of the ocean as requested. The bed was comfortable and the fridge was well stocked. T[... read more]he room had some issues that could easily be fixed, the bathroom grout was dirty and the air conditioner was really loud.
Maid service each day was good and the hotel grounds were kept really clean. The proximity to San Jose was nice and there were quite a few restaurants available within walking distance.
I have to say that the food at the buffet was not very good. The service during the morning buffet was amazing and the buffet ok. The dinner service and dinner buffets were not good at all. We lost one alacarte as we were told that the seafood restaurant would be open on Tuesday and they cancelled it and it was my last night. Had I known I would have done at a different restaurant.
I was disappointed that you had to pay for internet. They didn't even have a customer computer that you could use with free internet.
I think the thing that made this vacation was the service in the morning, the size of the resort, how clean it was kept, although a little more maintenance should be done just to keep it fresh. The people we met were very friendly. Would I go back, yes.

Krystal Grand Los Cabos: Have noticed changes this year
Stayed at this resort (for the second time). We were also here last winter. With change in ownership/management we were told, we feel there are no improvements from our last experience.
Beautiful grounds, FANTASTIC BEDS! Buffet food was watched like a hawk and monitored very well. Modest assortment, but very good! We watched the whales every morning during breakfast, playing around in our bay.
We were highly disappointed by little things such as our doorbell being rang in the morning at 745 by[... read more] the maid to clean the room. 3 rings and I woke up to answer it. Too early we felt. Also the beer fridge in the room was not restocked until our 3rd day. 1 beer was put in it. The next day, 2. No consistency. We have been to this area numerous times and will likely try another resort next time, BUT overall, this resort is lovely for the price. I would only recommend this resort to someone on a budget to be honest.

Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos: Wonderful vacation!
Holiday Inn Hotel and Reaort was a wonderful place to stay. The facility was well kept and clean. Our room was always tidied and fresh for when we returned from a day of relaxing by the pools or exploring the area. Staff were always friendly and extremely helpful with all inquiries. The food and drink selection was vast and delicious. More options then I could try! Thanks for having us at your resort, we will be back soon.

Riu Santa Fe: Great party resort
Very clean grounds and public areas and washrooms.Staff very friendly and helpful.Food was good.Personly we found the the resort to noise for us, the resort is more geared for a younger crowd. Was disappointed that we had booked to a superior room and found it was to noisy. To change rooms we downgraded to get a quieter room, but was not refunded the $200.00 that I had to pay extra for the superior room..

Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf and Spa: Relaxing Resort
We stayed at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica during the first week in April and, overall, were really impressed with many aspects of the resort.
Arrival
-we found our shuttle easily at airport and were surprised to be the only two people on it. The drive from the airport to the resort was about 40 minutes without any other stops along the way.
-we arrived around 3pm and were able to check in immediately, with no wait in line. However, we did see that another couple had been waiting for a while and w[... read more]ere told their room wasn't ready at 3 (the check in time). Reception was pleasant but nothing special.
Resort
-the hotel and grounds are beautiful and tastefully done. The resort is on the smaller side but it never felt crowded. In fact it was often half empty! The resort is really quiet and, with the exception of Saturday afternoon, there was no rowdy or drunk guests. Even the one group that was definitely having a good time were not really overly loud or disruptive. The pools are large but the water is on the cold side. We could always find chairs to sit in by the pool. Getting an umbrella was slightly more difficult because there weren’t that many and, on windy days you are not permitted to use the umbrellas. The beach is basically empty as swimming is not permitted.
-you can visit other resorts owned by Pueblo Bonito. PB Sunset Beach was very nice and the food we had there was also excellent. PB Rose was closer to downtown Cabo and had access to a swimable beach; however, it was loud and crowded and the food we tried was terrible.
-we were told we could take a free shuttle between resorts and into downtown Cabo but this proved to be more complicated than expected. When we attempted to take the shuttle from PB Rose back to the Pacifica we were told all the shuttles for the afternoon/evening were “full†and that we needed “a ticketâ€. We could never figure out how to get tickets (despite this being “explained†to us a couple times).
Room
-our room was comfortable and reasonably well appointed. The bed was comfortable. We had a nice view of the resort and ocean from our small veranda. The room had a coffee maker and minifridge. The fridge had two beer, two waters, and two cans of coke and was usually replenished daily.
-the room is not overly soundproof and we could hear people walking up stairs and around the room above us. Fortunately, the resort is very quiet so this was rarely a problem but it could be if the resort was full.
Gym
-The gym was brand new, large, and well appointed with treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, free weights, and machines. It was also almost empty most days. Probably the best gym I have seen at an all-inclusive.
Service
-every staff member we encountered was professional, extremely polite, and very helpful. The service really stood out compared to other similar all-inclusive resorts we have visited in Mexico and elsewhere. The service in the restaurants was exceptionally good.
-That being said, the service was very slow at the pool (for food and drinks) even by all-inclusive standards and occasionally they forgot our order entirely. For example, we waited for over an hour for lunch at the snack bar on a couple occasions.
Food
-The food (snack bar, restaurants, and room service) was exceptional for an all inclusive and we were really impressed with the quality and variety. The Sunday brunch buffet looked particularly good (though on the smaller side compared to other resorts we have been to) but we were not able to try it as we had to leave before it opened.
-room service had a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night options and all of the things we tried were really good. The wait for room service ranged from 25 to 60 minutes.
-it's important to know that not all of the options on the restaurant menus are included and many of the best meals had additional charges (40 to 50 USD or more).
-also, some of the restaurants have additional entry charges (20 to 35 USD) as well as additional charges for certain menu items.
-we were surprised to learn that there is no lunch or supper buffets. For supper, you need to make a reservation at one of the three restaurants on site (or at restaurants at sister resorts). When making a reservation, we were usually able to get the time we wanted; however, the restaurants were often half empty when we arrived, which made us wonder why we needed to make a reservation in the first place.
-the Steakhouse at the Golf Club/Quivira should not be missed, even though there is a 35 USD pp additional charge. The setting and restaurant are beautiful and the food was delicious.
Alcohol
-many "top shelf" brands had additional costs and they were not brands that were overly expensive or fancy (e.g., Patron, Makers' Mark, and Jameson's were not included)
-the house red and white wine (only all-inclusive wine options) were absolutely terrible and undrinkable. At the restaurants the wines on the wine list are extra and one of the cheapest bottles cost 50 USD.
Tipping
-almost every time you order a drink and every time we ordered food, we were asked for our room number and then provided with an itemized bill of the cost in USD and Mexican pesos. Even when the cost was 0 the bill was still provided and tipping expected.
Internet
-internet access was sporadic and did not work well from our room. Instagram in particular was very difficult to use. The wifi was also very slow, even for basics like checking email.
Summary
-overall we were really pleased with almost all aspects of the Pacifica and would return.

Riu Santa Fe: Pretty resort, it lacking service.
We had a beautiful room and view. But the service at the pool bar was so slow, waiting up to 30 minutes for service. The al la carteswere lacking, slow and food was cold. The view from our room was perfect. The hotel was over crowded and there were not enough bartenders, waitresses for the amount of people at the resort. Lacking entertainment each night instead had karaoke. I have been to other RIUs and they were great. Will not be going back to this one.

Riu Santa Fe: Excellent fun time at the Riu Santa Fe
We had an excellent time at the Riu Santa Fe. The food was great! The breakfast buffets, lunch and all the dinners were excellent. We have no complaints about the food. Every Riu hotel is different. The gardens are amazing with a good variety of cactus, succulents, palm trees and other tropical plants. The gardens and grounds are well kept and very interesting. The pools are plentiful with choices of quiet pools, a pool with swim up bar and jacuzzis and lively pool areas. Notably the pool partie[... read more]s are very lively and so much fun! We are over 55 and had a great time at the pool parties. The entertainment is good with Mexican shows, a Micheal Jackson show, magic etc. The beach is clean but too rough for swimming, some folks walked to town via the beach, we didn't. It is a bit of a walk between buildings but far less than many other hotel complexes we have been in. The walk is worth the exploration of the grounds. The regular rooms are nice and the delux rooms are beautiful. We have absolutley no complaints. There is a beautiful view of Cabo San Lucas from the hotel and the distance from town or Walmart is with minutes by taxi or bus. We thoroughly enjoyed Cabo San Lucas and the Riu hotel. We would definatley go back to the Riu Santa Fe and hopefully bring a few friends to join us.

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos: Another pleasant stay at the Ziva!
We'd stayed here about 12 months prior to this stay and headed back as we knew we'd enjoy it again -
Very good restaurants, with excellent service, which we found again was better than many other hotels that we've stayed at.
We went with our 4 and 1 year old kids, and we know the kids pool is well located and warm water (some don't have heated pools), so we were happy to be back and enjoying the ground floor Ziva suite, where you have back entrance to the kids pol and front entrance to the [... read more]beach and the main pools.
The staff are always ver helpful and pleasant, and are excellent with the kids.
The distance from the airport is also appealing - about 15 mins and the first drop off on the hotel route.
The rooms are good, but not like some 5 star rooms we'd stayed at, but we're happy to let that slide with the amount you actually spend in them.
We'd go back!

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Amazing resort.
Absolutely loved this resort. Amazing food. Never have had lobster offered in a buffet before. I really enjoyed the Indian restaurant available in the specialty restaurants. Fridge restocked daily with water, pop and beer plus a dispenser bar. Great maid service. Loved that we could visit the Rui Santa Fe and Rui Baha next door with our wrist bands. The only thing that could improve in my opinion is the entertainment. A little on the lame side. But otherwise worthy of a 5 star resort.

Riu Palace Baja California: Great resort hotel
Stayed at the new Riu Baja California recently and the hotel hit on all points. Check in was one of if not the smoothest I have ever experienced. Been to 30+ all inclusive hotels to date.
Room cleanliness was great, daily service was fine, room additions such as bar fridge and water was always filled to the max. Large patio deck with alot of privacy. Deck view was of the ocean and the Riu St. Fe. We were on the 4th floor.
Food at the buffet was decent. Everyday there were new options. At[... read more]e here mostly for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was taken at the other restaurants offered. Steak house was good and so was the Fusion.
Pools....great atmosphere, great service, swim up bar was more lively than other pools but that is to be expected.
Entertainment in the evening was pretty good. Make sure to take in the Micheal Jackson show. It was the best!
Overall I hold no reservations is suggesting the Riu Baja California! Wish I could be back there tomorrow!

Riu Palace Baja California: Nice new/clean place
While the rooms are nice, clean, modern and bright, the Riu Palace Baja California is more like a hotel than a resort. If you like to take time to explore the grounds, this is not the place for you. It is just a hotel on the water. The are four heated pools but they are all located in front of the hotel within throwing distance of each other and the activities/music are often competing with each other, making difficult to just relax around the pool at times. If you enjoy walking along the beac[... read more]h, know that this beach is very difficult to travel on due to extensive slanting. Be prepared to repeatedly be approached by merchants on the beach. Also, the hotel is located a fair distance to Cabos and cab ride is going to set you back $20 CAD each way so if you intend on going into town, you will have to add $$ to your stay here. We enjoyed a nice assortment of food and the staff was very courteous and friendly. Though they try, the nightly entertainment is not very good at all. If you don't like noise, request a room that is not facing the RIU Sante Fe next door. Loud music and parties are organized at the Sante Fe and many have complained that they couldn't sit on their decks or leave their patio doors open because of the excessive noise. These parties tend to end early enough though.

Riu Santa Fe: So disappointed
We have bragged about how wonderful the Rui Santa Fe in Los Cabos was for awhile now. Finally we were able to get our friends all together at the same time. (8 couples in our 50’s)
The food once again was great. Service was amazing!
But... they have now started letting teenagers come for 1/2 the price & wow! It’s absolutely crazy. And not in a good way. I have never written a review before but strongly feel the need to warn the next visitors. We are the kind of people that don’t like t[... read more]o complain and just go with the flow. We make our own good times! But this was very disturbing to say the least. We felt that the place was totally out of control. Every day someone was injured, bodily functions were everywhere in front of everyone. We tried to stay out of the way as much as possible but that’s not what holidays are about. Sleep was disrupted every hour of every night with screaming of all kinds & doors slamming over & over.
We were told that this is the way the resorts going to be from now on. We were so very embarrassed that we had brought our friends here. We have always tried to go to Rui resorts for once if not twice a year often for 2 weeks at a time.
We have decided that this will no longer be the way to go and will try to find another chain.
I’m very sorry. I will miss the fun times.

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Nice place
The hotel was nice, clean and had a beautiful view. We decided to pay extra and get the preferred club amenities. Most days we stayed by the preferred pool and enjoyed the view of the ocean, spotted some whales and watched some golfing. It was a good thing we did because the other pool was loud with blaring music and was very busy which is not what we wanted. The service was good overall, but they needed another wait staff at the preferred pool. It took a really long time to get drinks.
The[... read more] yoga was excellent, and it was lovely to have a class at 8am and 9am. The weather was also fantastic. There was no humidity and it was clear and beautifully sunny when we were there the 2nd last week of March.
The food was good, but they needed one more restaurant to have good variety. Usually Secrets has a French restaurant, but Secrets Puerto Los Cabos does not. Overall, it was a great vacation if you don't mind not swimming in the ocean (it was too rough).

Riu Santa Fe: Nice Resort
The resort itself is well kept and is very clean. It has amazing views of the mountains and crystal clear waters. The food is just ok and so r the drinks. Nothing to write home about. Price point is a little high as it was $3000 a werk for a couple at the RIU Santa Fe.
We happened to be at one of the US spring breaks so it was quite loud and disruptive at nights. Seems more of a party resort than a relaxation resort. Although i have to say staff were very friendly and were very accomodating.
W[... read more]e took a water taxi to the marina in Cabo and that was nice. Went to Cabo Wabo and A few other places. Overall a 3+ rating given that the place was clean and terrific views and close to the marina in Cabo which has great restaurants and shops.
