Zoetry Curacao Resort and Spa: Amz, wonderful...

The emplacement is really good, between Willemstad and Westpunt. The service at Room and restaurant is quiet, professionnel! Seriously the personnel is awesome. And if you like tranquillity you just need to go at this place!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Not amazing for us

We were booked for a week, and decided at the last minute to Upgrade from a deluxe garden room to a Sunscape Club ocean front room. This made all the difference.They say there are all kinds of extra benefits with the Sunscape club, which in truth doesn't amount to much, but that room is awesome, with a 120 degree view of the ocean. Do not bother with their 'restaurants" - Japanese, Oceania, Italian- the service is not great, there are long waits, and the food is simply awful. The place to go is their big central buffet where there is a huge variety with some indigenous dishes as well. I simply cannot fathom why they don't offer a no holds barred Caribbean gourmet restaurant. Wouldn't that make sense? Go with the flow - go Caribbean! Also, regarding the rooms - it would make sense to install at least one towel bar! You are not allowed to put towels on the balcony - so where do you put them? Well this is not the only resort with this issue, just a general complaint. The sea water is crystal clear and comfortably warm, and although it doesn't look like it, there are plenty of colourful fish right within the protected area. You never need to worry about undertow here. On the downside, there is no such thing as a long walk on the beach. All the beaches are small. Weather was steady around 30C every day and no rain. The resort itself is noisy and busy with probably over 400 guests. The entertainment didn't suit us except for a few of the musicians. Lots of yelling, thumping music and line dancing. If you like a quiet retreat this is NOT the place for you! The noise easily drifted to our room so we had to close the balcony door. Service was generally excellent. The employees are friendly and helpful. Service in the restaurants is not so good. We went into town one day, which was a nice break. We also took a tour of the island which was excellent. It was far too hot to hike the national park. The Aquarium was wonderful, just a 10 min walk from the resort. We didn't try any of the town restaurants but if we'd stayed two weeks we would have. There are dozens. To sum it up, Sunscape is a great holiday if you want lots of noise, activity, and fun for the kids. Find another place if you are looking for a quiet retreat. Get the best room you can afford - ocean front is the best.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Great vacation

Weather was perfect. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food was good, lots of selection. Hospitality was great everyone very friendly. Great beach and pool. Great snorkling. Lots to do in the area.

Renaissance Curacao: Wonderful place to stay

Nice room, great beach and pool, nice staff and wonderful service. Food was great. Grounds where very clean. Also in walking distance to all kind of events and shopping, Willemstad is a 15 min walk from the hotel.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: SUNSCAPE CURACAO WISH I WAS STILL THERE.

From the start to finish the hotel staff, food, amenities were awesome. The weather could not have been better and we enjoyed all the restuarants and never waited more then 15 minutes for a table. Our room had a ocean view and the sunsets were spectacular. Can't wait to return.

Curacao Marriott Beach Resort: Nice hotel

We did like the hotel, the gardens were well kept, the property was tidy and the overall place was clean. Sure the rooms are tired but the bed was comfortable and clean. Realistically you're not in your room for a long time your there to enjoy the weather and beach. However we had seen some negative reviews on the dining at this Marriot but we decided to go ahead with our trip as planned. We really should have paid closer attention to those reviews. The breakfast buffet was good and Cerita and Gechi made us feel welcome every time we went for breakfast. They get a big thumbs up from us. Chris at the Emerald Lounge also was great to talk to and was helpful with our various questions about the island. Monique our server at the Palm Cafe was terrific! We told her we were renting a car and she gave us directions to go to various places on the island and was also very attentive to our ordering preferences. Now as I said the breakfast buffet was good, the lunch menu at Palm Cafe is OK but very limited. Dinner at the Emerald Lounge was not good at all. We ordered nachos with chicken and beef and had to send them back because the chips were stale and the beef looked like it came out of a can. Then we tried the pizza the same night. It was ok but really could have been cooked longer but we didn't send it back because we were starving. Another night we decided to try the "Marriot" burger. We were asked how we wanted it cooked and I replied medium well. It came to us a little charred on each side and bloody in the middle. How can someone screw up cooking a burger? Well their cook did. Then we tried Portofino's. First time it was edible but not great. Second time the ribeye was severely undercooked and sent back. It returned slightly more cooked but was so tough it couldn't be eaten. When you spend a lot of money for and all inclusive trip you expect to have decent meals to eat. It's pretty bad that you have to go offsite to get a good meal when you've already paid for it.

Sandals Royal Curacao: Nice resort.

The resort was very nice. Staff were awesome! It is a great place to go if you want something quieter than most all inclusive so. Lots of chairs available anytime of day on beach and by the pool. Food was great but it would have been nice to have a couple other a lacarte restaurants included. This resort is very far from town or anything else so would be expensive to leave it. There is a shuttle into town but it only goes once per day and only runs if 4 people book it.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Good resort.

The beach was very nice, however if you want a long beach to walk on this is not it. There is not enough shade on the beach or pool area. The sun is intense, thank goodness for the trade winds. The food was average, the a la carte restaurants were really good one night not so much on another. The rooms were renovated three years ago, however do not look like it. The service was on and off. There is lots of room for improvement which apparently they are working on. The Sun Club is not worth it. T [... read more]he rooms are identical to the one I was in and even smaller, your romantic dinner is a few feet away from the rest of us. The so called $200.00 bonuses we did not use due to limitations, $60.00 towards dinner on the beach which was $150.00, four $10.00 coupons towards wine at $30.00 a bottle and $100.00 at the spa but only $40.00 at a time towards services priced at $125.00 or over. This was an average resort which we all feel we paid to much for $2076.00 per person the week of Feb. 21-28/16 (travelled with another couple and met one there). We made the best of things and enjoyed our week thanks to great friends.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Disappointing Stay.

My husband and I started off this vacation with high expectations. We had heard wonderful things about Curacao, and the Sunscape Resort. We have travel extensively and generally only consider ourselves particular about food. The highlights of the trip included the terrific weather daily and a number of great staff at the resort. This resort provided a less than average food experience. The buffet is small with limited selection each day, and sadly the options available are mediocre at best (wit [... read more]h the exception of the abundance of Dutch cheeses on the buffet at each meal, which was a saving grace). The a la carte restaurants also provided a less than enjoyable experience. I understand the intent of a no reservation policy, however, this led to long waits for the restaurants or early lines for an early sitting. Neither option is really ideal. Once inside the restaurants the wait for average food was long. We did not have a single remarkable meal all week. The Grill menu include a good filet, which I would recommend, and a less than decent chicken dish with a canned mushroom sauce of some sort... not good. The most enjoyable meal was the beach bbq lunch which we enjoyed from our beach chairs. We did enjoy the Asian restaurant, however, this experience is very dependent on the person working the grill table you are assigned too. All in all, the food experience alone will guarantee that we do not return to this resort. The other most disappointing issue was the evening entertainment. Less than average, limited options, ends early etc. However, the most challenging piece of this is the lack of seating in the common area "core" of the resort where entertainment is held. More than one night we found ourselves missing the entertainment because there were not enough seats in any of the common areas including the Core Zone, Cafe or lobby bar. Frustrating. Sadly this resort did not live up to its billing. We will not be returning or recommending this experience t others.

Renaissance Curacao: Very good

The hotel was clean, friendly, great location, good food, good pool, friendly staff. When we had a problem they came right away within 10 minutes. It was close to all the shopping you could do, and see the cruise ships coming in.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Great Resort

If you like small resorts, this one was very nice and clean. Staff was always friendly and food was great. A La Carte's every night, no reservations, you can keep going to the ones you prefer. Mine was the Italian, although the Steak house was very good also. Beach is not the best, lots of rocks and can't go far, gets deep fast. It was great to go in town, lots of vendors and lots of stores to shop at. First time went with a tour guide, second trip, went by ourselves with a bunch of friends!

The people were friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The food was amazing, with plenty of restaurant to go around and no reservations. Small beach but beautiful. The rooms are something else, clean but service was horrible to say the least. They would take their tip but not leave towels or soaps

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Great holiday at Sunscape Resort Curacao

Just had a great one week all inclusive vacation at Sunscape. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Washrooms adequate for the amount of time we spent in the rooms, however an update could be in order. We had a ground floor suite so the Garden View patio came in useful several times. It had a slight view to the ocean. Food - lots to choose from and easy to get into restaurants. Lots of bars with friendly staff. Beach and pools were great with lots of areas to lounge for everyone. Beach was always  [... read more]clean. Only problem was the room was next to the staff lounge, so we lost a little sleep from some of the noise they would make late evening and early morning. There was always a gentle breeze at the resort so mosquitos didn't seem to be a huge issue.

Sonesta Kura Hulanda Village And Spa: Great base for exploring the island

The hotel is perfectly located within picturesque historic Willemstad, close to everything the city has to offer. Clearly, considerable effort went into the restoration of the property but things still look quite shabby here and there. Our room (deluxe) was rather good and clean, though I think they really need to replace very old fabrics and tapestry. Staff is great and people seem to be trying very hard, everyone was very helpful and accommodating. The restaurants are quite pricey as others ha [... read more]ve noticed, but other dining options in Willemstad are not really cheap either. Overall, this is a great place if you want to explore Curacao on your own while staying in its lively capital. You do need a car to go anywhere else though. The hotel doesn't have a beach, nor there is one close by, but there are amazing beaches on Curacao that you don't want to miss. They do have a shuttle to their other property with a beach (you need to sign up in advance, space is limited), but it's not as good as some others. Hotel has a couple of pools. They are small but quite nice.

Sonesta Kura Hulanda Village And Spa: very special place

If you fed up with all inclusive, try no meal plan in this very special hotel. Excellent location. Easy wolk to everything: downtown, fort, restaurants, market, bus and taxi station etc . But Rent a car for a few days and discover rest of the island. Very friendly and helpful staff

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Awesome views. Amazing beach.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was decent. Rooms were larger than usual and most have an ocean view due to the layout (awesome!). Loved Curacao. Entertainment was also better than usual for the Caribbean. If you get a chance to see the beach night/fire show that was amazing.

Hilton Curacao: Wonderful hotel - would return !

I agree with most reviewers : this hotel is much better than it might "look" judging by its exterior ! While everything is maintained well and certainly in working order the hotel looks a little dated and the building itself doesn't have the "old style" charm of the many old Plantation buildings - nor is it a sleek new and modern one. However, looking past the exterior the property is amazing. Do take a room with the ocean view. We also paid for the upgrade to Executive level. That gets you a ro [... read more]om with a view on the 5th floor - and it is worth every penny just for the view alone. Waking up to it daily was priceless. The grounds below include a free form meandering pool with an infinity pool at the end - I cannot find words to adequately describe it. Lounge chairs line the pool but are not "packed in tight". In fact it was one of the great unexpected plusses to find that one never had to "rush" down first thing in the morning to reserve a spot - there were always spots available. We also enjoyed the executive lounge though breakfast was very standard and never seemed to vary. Fruits and cold cuts were good though and overall it was fine with us. Happy hour in the lounge was also a "bonus" - especially as it offered the possibility of having a nice glass of wine or two at an affordable rate . The appetizers were a bit underwhelming and also didn't vary much - but we still appreciated the comforts of the lounge and the always smiling and helpful hostess in charge . The restaurants are dotted about the grounds : Bligh's Bar near the lobby area ( favorite Pina Colada on the island !), Cielo, the fine dining restaurant in a separate area "under the stars ", Aqua - the breakfast spot for those not having chosen the executive lounge option, and Celeste, the casual lunch/dinner spot - this was our favorite in every regard. It sports a wavy , breezy canvas "canopy", white and turquoise tables and chairs and white patio umbrellas outside of the canopy. It is a classy patio style restaurant with a nice menu. Always fresh and well prepared food that is not cheap but didn't give us sticker shock either. On Sundays there is an all-you-can-eat beach BBQ buffet for just under $30 per person - which was very good value as it turns out. Most entrees run $24-30 anyway and an appetizer is easily $9-14. Drinks are very expensive by our standards and my husband was frustrated with the tiny size of bottled beer - with the high price ! The hotel has a shuttle service into town twice a day - it can be difficult to get a spot on this shuttle ( place for only 12 ). Do book as far ahead of time as possible. Finally the room : it was very spacious and comfortable. Everything was in working order. I thought I had understood there to be a shower as well as a tub but there was only shower ( I am a "tub" person !). Toiletries could have been of a slightly better quality - and we usually had to ask for extra as the amounts were smallish. The guest services book promises bath robes for this level room but though we asked for them we never got any.We never had any problem getting the additional toiletries, though. The furniture was a bit "banged up" in places and the carpet had seen better days - but it was not something that marred the experience - only suggested that perhaps it is time for this beautiful property to get a facelift. There is a small fridge in the room ( not stocked ) which came in handy. We would return to this particular hotel, room 523 and take the Executive Plus package anytime we return to Curacao !

Sonesta Kura Hulanda Village And Spa: Perfect week!!!

As long as you're not looking for an all-inclusive, this is an amazing place to stay. The museum on the grounds is incredible, the rooms are furnished with antigues, the staff are very helpful, and you are literally steps away from great restaurants, the pontoon bridge, and multiple places of interest. Wilemstad has a very European feel to it, but comes with the bonus of warm weather/cool breeze in the middle of winter. Highly recommend!!!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Out of this world snorkelling!

My husband, two kids (13 and 11) were at Sunscape from December 27, 2015 to January 3, 2016. Our goal was to relax at a great beach with extraordinary snorkelling. Mission accomplished! The snorkelling right outside our room was superb! The beach and snorkelling are definitely 5 stars in our books. The reason for our overall rating of 3 stars is the food. There was not much of a variety and it wasn't great. Not a big deal and we still had a great time. Our room (8117) was on the main floor of  [... read more]the Flamingo building (west end of the property). Initially, we were kind of disappointed as we did not have too great of a view and as other reviewers have pointed out, our room had a musty smell. Before long, this didn't even matter as we spent every waking minute outside enjoying that gorgeous beach! It turned out to be great not to have to haul our luggage/gear up one or two flights of stairs. Our room was definitely spacious enough for our family of four. While we didn't really participate in organized activities as we preferred to do our own thing (snorkelling!) the entertainment team seemed to be doing a great job. While the food was nothing to write home about, it was great to just show up for dinner and not worry about keeping a schedule. We took a half day excursion to visit other snorkelling sites (Porto Mari, Cas Abao and Big Kenepa). While the beaches were beautiful and it was fun to tour around, the snorkelling was not as good as right outside our bedroom door at Sunscape. We also went to the Dolphinarium which was approximately a 15 minute walk east of the resort. This was worthwhile and only took up approximately 2-3 hours. We did not partake in the pricey swimming with the dolphins experience but did take in a few interactive shows. The highlight was feeding the nurse sharks. Very cool! Rather than walking back to the resort on the main road, we opted to follow the shore. This took us back via Mambo Beach which was quite scenic. Our final excursion was a trip to Klein Curaçao aboard the Miss Ann (Miss Ann Boat Trips). We were picked up at Sunscape and travelled by bus 45 minutes to the boat. The actual boat ride took an hour and a half. If you are prone to motion sickness this excursion is NOT for you. There were lots of pukers on board. We had taken Gravol prior to the voyage and were quite grateful for that. (The return voyage was with the current therefore much smoother). While the snorkelling at Klein Curaçao was not great, we did sea a sea turtles which made the treacherous expedition totally worth it. We also enjoyed seeing all the cool geckos and crabs. We were all very pleasantly surprised by the two delicious shore lunches provided. I cannot even describe the amazing fireworks on New Years Eve. Awesome! All in all, our experience in Curaçao was a positive one. Our goal was to get in plenty of snorkelling and we definitely gave our fins and snorkels (and our new GoPro) a good run. Since we had read about the one hour daily limit on the free snorkel equipment, we had "invested" in our own gear prior to the trip. Best. Decision. Ever. One more thing to mention is to not expect much in the way of vegetation (read zero lush landscaping) however we thought the cacti and iguana were neat.
