Riu Guanacaste: Beautiful resort!

Beds were uncomfortable, pillows were uncomfortable & very small, surprised for a Riu. Ocean was not great to swim in, beach was to be expected as same in Panama where I have been, not white & sandy. The resort itself was beautiful & clean, the food was good.

Had a great time at the resort! Friendly staff. Ton of food to choose from. Great entertainment. Would highly recommend this hotel. Walking distance to monkey bar and turtle hatchery. Beach is great!

Secrets Papagayo Resort: Fun in the Sun

We spent a week in Costa Rica and it is a beautiful country!! Secrets Papagayo is a great resort. The food was great, but we found that the buffet was the way to go, always fresh and tasty. If you eat at the Italian restaurant, order doubles as the portions are very small. The staff were wonderful!! Always smiling, and they had the best dancers I have ever seen. We have been to other Secrets resorts, and this one was very stingy with the in room alcohol. Even though we had a great time, with great friends, I would not return to this resort.

Planet Hollywood Costa Rica: Flashy Lobby proffers a positive first impression

The resort was just over one year old so it still had a well maintained look overall. Our view,which overlooked a glistening bay, was an incentive to rinse early and make the most of the day. The meal quality was better than expected and encompassed a broad selection. Using restraint and choosing wisely, it is possible to eat fairly well. This was [... read more] marketed as a perk for the Star Class Members. In reality it is a dark, tiny room with only 3 seats. The "special selection" of food was unimpressive and mimicked what was on offer in the resort to all guests. The perks of the Star Class membership were the pool, which was more peaceful than the main pool area, and the designated bar which was far less crowded. The Fitness Classes on offer were worth attending as the staff made a genuine effort. Unfortunately very few individuals take advantage of the opportunity perhaps because the classes are conducted outside in the Costa Rican heat. The Rooms were pleasant but sometimes the service could be delayed for items requested. It took two days to customise our mini bar. The most off putting aspect are the sales pitches. These " offers " are intended to entice the guest to spend more. These ploys are desperate and unprofessional. The purpose of an all inclusive vacation is the fact that money is not given a thought from arrival to departure.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Fantastic resort

The Riu Palace was great place, people where friendly, food was great, lots of variety, rooms where made up with special care, the grounds and pool area where very clean, thou beach was a public one, they still served us there, with no issues with the locals..

Best Western Jaco Beach: Basic resort

This resort was extremely clean. Always had the same food every day,no variety. Tilapia fish only all week. Should have different fish ever day since you're on the ocean. The service is bad at the restaurant but rooms are kept extra clean They cater to their locals. Disappointed in this resort. Beach area is amazing to see the surfers! Great location but basic resort.

Riu Guanacaste: Great resort

We loved the Riu. Great food, beautiful and well kept grounds. Clean rooms, lots of wildlife. Highly recommend. Tons of great excursions close by which is good because Entertainment was not great, and not much going on fun-wise at the resort.

Riu Guanacaste: Great trip!

Great Hotel would be great if there was a bar closer to the beach, and they didn't limit refilling fridge to every 2 days, other than that no complaints. Really enjoyed seeing monkeys next door each day.

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Wonderful resort

Great place , food and service were great !!! Staff is friendly, we were very happy with our stay. Not a lot to do in the evenings but that wasn’t a big deal for us, we were up early every morning and tuckered by 9 at night. My only negatives about the resort are the location is really far for most excursions, so to avoid long bus rides we did an atv and boat excursion, both were great !!! Also the lighting near stairways, elevators and pathways to beach restaurant are dim or non existent

Riu Guanacaste: Great Experience

I thought the hotel was great. Plenty of seats in the shade. Friendly staff. Was a great time. The only thing I did not like is you have to line up to get into any of the 4 restaurants that were not the buffet. But that was a minor irritation. I also appreciate that smoking is only allowed in certain places - not everywhere.

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Peaceful and beautiful

Resort was incredible, grounds are gorgeous, lush and very well kept. Beach is quiet and sunsets are gorgeous. Staff all very nice. Rooms well appointed. We stayed in building 8A which had a Beira of the ocean but very private. A bit of a walk to the main lobby and most restaurants but very close to pools and beach and oceana restaurant. Food was absolutely outstanding. All the seafood is fresh, presentation incredible. Cant say enough about the food. In fact best food we have ever had at an all [... read more] inclusive specifically Oceana, the Sushi at the Japenese restaurant, Mexican restaurant and the pool grill was also amazing. Would def recommend to anyone. Preferred club allows you access to a lounge where they have a small buffet and also top shelf liquors. Well worth it for us! Only downside is the 2 hour drive from airport but we knew that going in. Take a trip to the rainforest- def a highlight of our trip.

Fantastic all-inclusive resort, if you don’t mind things a little quieter and lots of privacy. We stayed in preferred near the beach with an ocean view, well worth the upgrade. The food and restaurants are very good, the seafood is outstanding! No signing up for restaurants, pagers are given if you have to wait a bit, no more than 20 minutes for 2 ppl. Lots of pools and activities. Beach is clean brown sand and water clear. It is the only resort in the bay. I would recommend this resort to anyone, and we’re not all-inclusive lovers. Who doesn’t like seeing monkeys on the beach:). Great selection at the hotel souvenir shop however I must complain that the prices were the worst price gouging I have seen, worse that the airport even.

Was lack of restrooms near beach and a constant line up at women’s washrooms at nearest restraunt. There was no beverage service at beach . Overall a great vacation and excellent dining facilities . Would definitely return

Riu Palace Costa Rica: an amazing experience

i took my wife to this wonderful resort it was our first time in costa rica..the RIU palace was amazing i knew we were in a very special place because the bell boy made us feel very welcome the general manager and the reception desk made our stay extra special this trip was to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday..and we love it..

Riu Guanacaste: February stay

This was our second stay at this hotel. Everything was great. The only thing that was not as expected was the beach. It was rockier than I remembered but that is due to the tides. Sometimes there was rocks then a few hours later it was nice and sandy. If you walk just past the Palace there's a nice stretch of beach there. Lots of wild life to see. Overall nice vacation

Barcelo San Jose: Great hotel

Everything met expectations. I was not happy about not being able to walk because of the highway. I was not expecting to be so isolated but that's on me for not doing more research. Resort was great but i would not pick that location again.

Riu Guanacaste: Great Value for this Resort

This resort is considered to be a 5 star hotel, but based on my opinion, I believe it is a 4 start hotel in international rating standards. For the price we paid, the food quality and variety is strong. The nightly entertainment is fun to watch, but a few more optional nightly entertainment options would be great. The hotel looks nice, and the pools and beach are typical to other resorts. The staff are nice and friendly. The sports bar and the 24 hour snacks is the worst part of it. Overall, great value for what you pay, but if you are a luxury 5 star all inclusive customer, I would pass on this.

Best Western Jaco Beach: Great trip

This hotel is clean, great staff, quick service and fun all around. The beach has huge waves but the sunset is magnificent! Food is good but almost always the same. Mostly short term tourists. Access to town very easy and feels quite safe.

Barcelo Tambor: Beautiful resort Barcelo Tambor

The resort was beautiful, clean, amazing grounds. So much wildlife to see monkeys, birds beautiful red Mccaws,iguanas, most amazing sunrise.The pool was very nice. The travel to resort was much longer than was said because of road construction was disappointed cause our departure was so early for a later flight due to road closures... feel we missed out on a days vacation due to the travel of the resort when we were told 2hr drive not 4hrs. Barcelo Tambor: Holiday with up's and down's

After a long 4 hr drive to this resort as I was lead to believe that it was a 11/2 . Than our holiday was to begin the buffets were always fresh and interesting when returning to our rm the key didn't work and this happened for three days and on the fourth day we waited outside the rm sitting on the floor waiting to get in our rm it was 45 mins later when a worker showed up to let us in. Also when we booked our trip I didn't know that the costa rica christmas holiday was during our holiday as th [... read more]e resort was filled with many local people enjoying there last week of break with their children .I was amazed at how rude many of these people were to visitors in there country and the lack of respect to the proptery of the resort. On our last day check out day we had to leave the resort at 7 am as the road to the airport was under construction and was going to be closed for 2 hrs our flight wasn't until 4pm it was a long day waiting at a airport .
