We were at the resort Sept. 30 - Oct 7, 2019.
Service: Service we experienced was in general very good. Staff, from butler to restaurant staff was very attentive, and no complaint. Only place where we weren't impressed was on the beach. We were on the beach for almost an hour before somebody come to provide service. By that time we were tired of waiting as was packing up to go.
TRS main pool: apparently lots of people do leave their towels on poolside lounges for a long time without ac[... read more]tually using the chairs. I realize this is a problem for a lot of resorts. really enjoyed the pool entertainment. nothing loud and crassy, very good quality.
Food: no complaints re food quality. good cuts of beef for steaks, even had a tomahawk. lobster for dinner in TRS restaurants, although sometimes it tends to be overcooked. some inconsistencies to how dishes are prepared. the same restaurant, same dish can taste quite different on different nights. best and worst lobster dinner both at El Goucho.
Grounds: impeccably clean.
Room: no complaints whatsoever. whatever was missed (face cloth for one day) was quickly brought to us when we called. same as mini fridge items.
One serious suggestion: this is the only 5 star resort we went to that doesn't provide a single malt scotch. as I am a scotch drinker, that was a big disappointment.
Conclusion: over all, we've enjoyed this resort. Biggest + for me is lobster dinner almost every night. biggest - for me is they do not have single malt scotch. Others, like consistencies in the dishes they serve in the same restaurant, would be good. improvement in the drink service on the beach would be nice. I would go back if I come across a good price.

TRS Turquesa: Nice resort Relaxing holiday
Hotel grounds beautiful and well maintained. We had a swim out room and loved it. Our room was clean but could use some paint, updating and had a few maintenance issues. Food to us was not the best but we always found something to eat.
Italian and the steak house El Dorado were very disappointing. A large number of staff spoke english which was a plus. The staff all very friendly,
always smiling and service was great.

TRS Coral: Amazing Resort
We went there for our annual "girls" trip. Every year we decide on a different hotel and often in a different location. Hands down this had to be the best up to now. The property is beautiful, the rooms comfortable and well appointed, although they could use some more shelves or drawers to store one's clothes. We had a swim up room and used our pool area a lot, especially on the days when the weather was a trifle unselttled. Everything is very clean, and constantly being cleaned. The food at the[... read more] La Boheme was absolutely amazing, and the other restaurants were very good as well, (we went to Helios, El Gaucho, and Tapeo). The other restaurants were on the family side, so we decided to skip them this time. The Chic dinner and show will entertain and amaze you. We had excellent service for the staff at all venues. Say hi to Jose Luis at the pool, he'll bring you wonderful drinks all day, or you might see him in the Lobby bar or the Gravity Bar. All the staff rotate. We were in Building 01, bottom floor, swim up suites and our Butlers, Santiago and Josue were excellent and couldn't do more for us to make our stay pleasant. They made reservations, brought us anything we needed or wanted and assisted us with any issues that turned up. Can't thank them enough for all their help.

TRS Coral: Fantastic resort, relaxing stay
We really enjoyed our honeymoon here, we were very well taken care of. The resort as a whole was stunning and the a-la-carte options were outstanding. We enjoyed every dinner we had. Room service food was ok but thats to be expected. The pools were awesome, we spent most of our times our semiprivate swim out room and the main pool versus the beach, though it was nice as well. We lucked out with the rainy season, it only rained 1 day on our trip, though mosquitos got quite bad on the overcast day[... read more]s. We really enjoyed the spa and we went 3 times in the week. Only negative thing was I got food poisoning at the resort and was sick for a day. One of the highlights was the chic cabaret show that was included in our stay... it was fabulous entertainment, so much fun and great food!
Will recommend to anyone

TRS Coral: TRS Mexico
Upon first appearance the place looked Great!. Modern touches, fresh, clean, neat and tidy. Check in was quick. Room "key" was in the wrist band, which was very handy. Rooms clean, fresh white sheets and bedding. Bathrooms modern and clean. Food, well that was another experience.
The BBQ beside the pool was less than good. Uncooked food- burgers, chicken kabobs. Fresh food out in the open, not cooled at all! This may have been the source of making numerous people, including myself sick for 4 da[... read more]ys. And sick to the point of some going to the hospital for medical attention, some calling in a Dr. to receive antibiotics and many spent several days in bed. I myself have never been this sick in my whole life.
That being said, the breakfast a la cart was good. Some of the restaurants at the 'attached' Paladium were satisfactory.
The staff were friendly, and willing to help.
The mini bar snacks were never replenished.
The mini wine fridge was not cold, thus the wine was not cold or cool.
It was hit or miss to get Ginger Ale.
I will not return. I am just very thankful that I got better, maybe not 100%, but almost there.

TRS Coral: Great for Honeymooners
This will be long so to summarize I will say it’s an amazing resort with fantastic service with good but not great food.
We have stayed at many resorts across Mexico and also in Jamaica( best food ) and this was by far the nicest.
We stayed in the loft suite and had an amazing view of the ocean and of Isla Mujeres. When we checked in we were offered a tour of the resort which is actually just a sales pitch for the travel club, which was kind of annoying, but after that we weren’t appr[... read more]oached.
Our room was in the adults section which has its own pool and four adults only restaurants. The pool had a decent amount of live entertainment including synchronized swimmers and musicians.
The restaurants were mostly satisfactory, the French being the best and the one on the beach being the worst. The Spanish tapas was very confusing but the service was extremely good. The Argentinian had good food but the entree platter we ordered had some meat that tasted like it was spoiled. The rest of the restaurants are on the GP side, which is not adults only. We expected the food to be as amazing as the resort itself, but it missed the mark.
The beach was very nice and the water was crystal clear but be careful because the are some bitey fish in there. One bit my wife and drew blood and they like to swarm you. Wear sandals until you get past the vegetation or you will probably step on a bur, but we never experienced that after getting to the sunbeds. There’s a decent amount of sea weed but the resort cleans it up every morning. The waiters and on the beach were great and you could even access the wifi.
The spa had free hydro-therapy which included hot and cold tubs, steam room and sauna, salt room, “snow†room, a large indoor pool with many types of bubble loungers and water cannon massagers. The spa has other services as well but we didn’t try them because they were expensive and we were turned off from being hassled by the spa staff for massages almost every day.
You have access to the rest of the resort which could easily be walked to or you could take a golf cart shuttle or even take an electric boat through the channel.
Our butlers were Hector and Francine and they were very helpful and friendly. They surprised us with rose petals and filled our jacuzzi for us a few times.
If you are planning on doing excursions, prepare for a long day. The resort is North of Cancun and most excursions are south; this meant that we were always the first ones picked up and the last dropped off. (Travel time was about 2 hours each way).
Overall TRS is a great resort and we would come back!

Grand Palladium Palace: overall okay resort but nothing outstanding
The resort overall is pretty nice. Rooms are spacious enough and clean. Toiletries that are provided are of good quality. When we arrived to the room, a few lights were not working but quick service provided to get that fixed right away. Shower facility i would imagine would be difficult for anyone that is really short or has a hard time lifting legs such as someone in a wheelchair. One thing to keep in mind is if you are traveling with someone that is not a significant other, it can get aw[... read more]kward due to the fact that the wall separating from the bathroom and the actual room is frosted glass and if you are in the shower and someone else wants to use the washroom, there is no curtain. The wall is half length to the tub and 100% clear. Not enough closet space/drawers provided. The drawers also do not close properly. Mini fridge restocked daily so all good there. They gave us a bottle of liquor and fruit on arrival so for special occasions they may do this sort of thing for you. No elevators in the resort but the buildings are only 3 floors high so not a huge deal. Regarding food we usually stuck to the buffet for most meals. Pretty repetitive but it was pretty okay. Nothing too over the top but you get enough variety. Beef i find is tough no matter which restaurant you go to. The pizza they cooked i find is never cooked through, dough was soft and the whole thing was always falling apart. Drinks were pretty good and some bars had more variety options than others.
Entertainment animation team were good. Indiana and Chocolate were the main two animation girls that really made a difference and kept things fun. Others did not get as much involved with people.
Reception was super friendly they knew who i was right away when i checked in before they saw any documents from me which was shocking. There were a few staff in the restaurants in the El Dorado a la carte that did not speak English and did not communicate with us exactly how the process works. In the Palace section i find they did a pretty good job with fumigation of mosquito's but as soon as i walked over to Bavaro section i was eaten alive. Entertainment at night was okay, the typical shows that you would normally see such as Michael Jackson show, tropical show, 80's theme singing show etc.
The beach at the moment was good. On our first few days super wavy water but through the week became much calmer. On the Palace section a decent amount of area to walk on the beach, if you go towards TRS to the right it is much narrower. Going to the left to Punta Cana or Bavaro section it is pretty good too for walking and distance. Tides were pretty high though regardless and chairs had to be pulled back. Too many palapas and too much shade.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Wonderful vacation
The hotel was amazing. Our room was on the ground floor with an amazing view of the beach and scenery. The grounds are well kept (some loose tiles to be mindful of), the food was great and the drinks were amazing. The Japanese restaurant is a must try if you are looking for something other than the buffet. Overall really good hotel!

Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres: Very nice resort
We went for 7 days to Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres. It was non day we can complain. Beautiful, nice design, modern place with plenty of restaurants a la carte, where we never had to book the seats, just "show and go". Food for every diet: meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans, plenty different kind of fresh , prepared in many ways fish, sea food, veggies, fruits. Amazing entertainment well prepared, nice arrangement, costumes, lights, sound. All day open coffee shop with nice tasty pastry and coffe[... read more]e in many ways. All day activities organized by staff ( yoga, pilates, soccer, volleyball ect...) Pools for every one, for kids, for adult only. You can get every were by foot, go-cart, or...boat, because it is long nice canal, where during night is water show.
Problem is in the sports bar, if you want to change channel, even nobody is watching, you not allowed to watched important games if is not on it.
Rooms nice, big, but clean very late even after 4pm.
Very nice polite staff, wiling to help you with every thing...(very good experience with Luis).

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Worst Resort I have EVER Been To! Be prepared to have ppl enter your room with the DND on the door while you are changing!

We booked the Imperial Club package with Club Mobay provided by Transat.
When we arrived to club Mobay at the airport – we were told to help ourselves to food in the glass case and drinks. The food case was completely empty – not a SINGLE thing for us to eat[... read more] while we waited for transportation to the hotel.
When we arrived at the hotel, there was no separate check in desk as it was supposed to be a part of the package we booked. This was not too bad as there were not a lot of people checking in at the time we arrived at night.
Once we got to our room, there was no welcome gift as we were told was supposed to be there as part of the imperial club package we paid for. Just a letter welcoming us to the resort.
The food was horrible at the resort – regardless if we tried the restaurants or the buffet. There are no other words I have for it. Simply horrible.
On Tuesday, we paid the hotel for an extra guest to stay with us in our room. They did not provide us with any other bedding for our guest. There were extra pillows on the shelf in the closet but we had to pull the blanket off our own bed for him to sleep on the sofa.
Let’s fast forward to Wednesday September 4th 2019 when the real troubles began.
We had the “Do no disturb†sign placed on our door, as we always do when we are in our room. Our friend was asleep in the living room area. I was getting dressed and my partner was in the bathroom about to get into the shower.
There was a knock on the door, which we ignored, since we had the do not disturb on the door. The person knocked again, then again a third time. I assumed there must have been some emergency for him to keep knocking so I grabbed a towel to wrap around my upper body to go see what the issue was.
I didn’t even make it to the door when it was just opened. Once he opened the door, the do not disturb sign fell on the floor and he stood there staring at me with a very shocked look on his face. I picked up the sign and asked him “what are you doing, is there something I can help you with?â€
He then stuttered out “umm, do you need your fridge stocked?†I just looked at him in total disbelief, as we both knew he was NOT supposed to be entering my room with the do not disturb on the door and said to him, “well I guess since you are already in hereâ€.
He looked like a deer caught in headlights. He came in as my friend sat on the couch, and restocked the fridge and left.
I was very disturbed by this for a number of reasons, so I made my way to the lobby with my partner and my friend to speak to a manager about what happened.
When I got to the front desk, I immediately asked for a manager and the girl asked me what for. I told her what happened and she asked us to have a seat while she got someone.
After waiting almost 20 mins, a guy came over and introduced himself as the bar supervisor (keep in mind, I asked for a manager).
I then explained everything again for the second time and he told me he needed to locate a manager (like I originally asked for).
After waiting more then 30 mins again, (he was not able to locate a manager), a woman came and I explained the entire situation for a third time.
She proceeded to tell me that they do not take these things lightly and it would be handled and another manager would be speaking with me about what happened (I assume she was referring to the guest relations manager). She asked me if anything was taken from my room. I advised her that he would not have had the chance to as we were all in the room when he entered. She stated that anytime someone enters our room, it is logged in their system when they swipe their card to enter. So if anything was taken, they would know who was in the room.
I proceeded to advise her that I do not take inventory of my items on a daily basis to immediately know when/if something was to go missing. I have a small gopro camera that I wouldn’t even take out until the day I was going on an excursion. So if someone entered my room on Monday and took it, but I didn’t need to use it until Thursday, how am I to know when exactly it went missing?
She stated that she understands and that a report would be filed with their security office and someone would contact me about the matter. I advised her that I no longer felt safe on their property and would be renting a space elsewhere for the remainder of my time there and would return when it was time to leave. I asked that whomever was supposed to be contacting me to reach me on my cell phone and we left. This all happened on Wednesday Sept 4th (on my partners birthday which was the whole purpose of the trip, now ruined by this nonsense).
We left the resort, spending a lot more money now having to book elsewhere to stay.
Of course, we did not receive any phone call by the time we returned to the hotel late Friday night (we were leaving to head back to Toronto Saturday evening).
To add – I was told that I would be able to get a late check out for Saturday as the airport transfer was not picking us up until 5:10pm (part of imperial club). When I asked the front desk for the later check out – she advised me that it would be a charge of an additional $20 USD per hour. I advised her that the Imperial Club was supposed to be no additional charge. She then told me to wait a few minutes and then came back and told me that the late check out was not available.
After everything that had already transpired, I was not having this so I asked to speak with a manager again. After having to wait another 30-35 minutes for a manager, the guy comes to me and says that it is not available. I begin to explain to him my frustration with all that had happened and he cut me off and said he was aware there were issues the days before, but he was not there to discuss that, he was there to discuss the late check out. He then said the latest he could give me was 2pm. At this point, I was totally flabbergasted at his response and said fine as I simply had no more fight left in me.
When we finally got back to our room (this is now later Friday night after being gone since Wednesday morning), we get in to find our room was cleaned (as expected) but our fridge was never restocked. Not even a single bottle of water to drink.
There was a letter left on our bed stating that someone from guest relations was trying to reach us and that we could call 1 of the 3 extension numbers on the letter or go to the guest relations desk in the lobby. I called down to advise that we had no water or anything in the fridge, they said they would send someone up to fill it. It took almost an hour for someone to finally come.
The next morning, I went straight to the guest relations desk and the lady stated that there was no report logged in their system about the incident that took place and had to make several phone calls to find out what was going on. It turns out that no one actually logged the incident. I then had to wait for their guest relations manager as well as hotel security to come to meet me to take the report (which was supposed to have been done since WEDNESDAY when I originally reported the issue.)
They had me sit down and write out what happened, then the guest relations manager advised me that they reviewed the camera footage and that I did NOT have the do not disturb sign on my door that they could see and that the guy never entered my room.
I was livid. First off, you have 3 people who were in the room and advised this is what happened. Secondly, how exactly did my fridge restock itself on Wednesday in the middle of the day? I asked her if she was calling us liars at this point. I told her that I was not seeking financial gain, I did not say anything was stolen, I did not say anyone assaulted me. I was making them aware of what took place. She then asked me what time the airport transfer was coming to pick us up so that I could come back to meet her in the lobby to view their security footage. I advised her that I was no longer going to waste another second of my trip on this nonsense with them and that I do not trust them at this point or their “security camera†footage as I work in Computer software and I am well aware of what can be done with that footage (especially after almost 3 days have gone by). Unless this was being reviewed by an expert to know that it was not tampered with (since we CLEARLY HAD THREE PEOPLE IN THE ROOM WHEN THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE), I had nothing else to say to her at this point.
She looked at me and said that was up to me then as she also had nothing else to offer. At this point I asked her to photo copy the report that I had just written that they signed as I do not believe they intended to do anything about it.
The person who was working at the guest relations desk was the ONLY person who took the time to understand what took place and without me having to ask, adjusted my check out time to 5pm so that I didn’t have to be sitting idle while we waited to leave for the airport. Not to mention, she told us that this whole incident report that I was only NOW being asked to fill out with the manager and security was supposed to have been done on WEDNESDAY when the issue took place. NOT days after the fact.
When we were on out way back to the room, there were some hotel staff that were by our villa who overheard us talking and asked me if the guy looked like “this†(they described someone) as they were aware of a fellow who had these incidents reported on him before. I told them no, this guy had braids, and they said they were not sure who that was. This CLEARLY indicates that this has happened several times before, and by their statement, usually by a certain individual who still works there. This entire ordeal seems nothing short of a cover up on their end since no procedures were followed as it should have been AND the fact that other hotel staff said this is a regular occurrence.
As a female – if I had been alone in my room (please keep in mind that I was in the middle of getting dressed) and this took place, what could have happened? It is not unheard of with females reporting assaults taking place on resort grounds or in their rooms. The way this whole thing was handled from beginning to end has completely ruined our trip. I would NEVER book at the GRAND PALLADIUM LADY HAMILTON again.
I have never gone on vacation and LOST weight before. If I could give this place a negative star, I would.

Though rated at four and a half stars on some websites, I fail to find what this resort could do to improve anything to reach five stars. As in most reviews, the Dominican staff is friendly, outgoing, and extremely professional and attentive.
