Viva V Samana by Wyndham: lovely resort to vacation at

A very clean resort, food was good and fresh, drinks were typical sweet sugary fruity with alcohol. worth the upgrade for the premium alcohol selection and the fresh fruit juices. the beach and ocean are nice; there is a sandbar and while I stayed the red flag was up for 5 days, due to the ocean undertow, its rough water to swim in. There is one large pool- clean but extremely busy for a smaller resort. Theme nights and entertainment were great. 3 a la carte restaurants were also good. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Senator Puerto Plata

Love this resort. Everything is so clean: the rooms, the grounds,the pool and dining area. There is a good variety of food and lovely presentation. Can't comment on entertainment as I was in bed by 9. Enjoyed my meal at the Japanese restaurant. Didn't go to the other ones. Only complaint was 1 hour wait for lunch at snack bar.

Dreams La Romana: Great location

The hotel was very enjoyable. There was easy and convenient access to all amenities. Landscaping was beautiful, and the amount of care was obvious. There was a variety of eating/dining options and easy and tasty snack options.

I just returned from a week at Dreams Cap Cana as a Preferred Guest, and overall, the experience was absolutely 5-star. The resort was at full capacity during March Break, so it’s important to set expectations accordingly. With that in mind, I had only a couple of minor observations: 1. Preferred guest identification – It would be great to see wristbands or some visible differentiation for Preferred guests to help streamline service and recognition. Now, onto the highlights… • Our room in Building 4 was an ocean view Preferred suite, and it was absolutely spectacular—you couldn’t ask for a better view. • I have traveled to many islands and resorts, and I can confidently say the staff at this resort are truly top notch. From the concierges at check-in, to the wait staff, entertainment teams, and bartenders—every interaction was positive, professional, and genuine. Some of the standout team members who made our trip unforgettable: • Carlos, Robert, and Domingo in the Preferred breakfast/lunch restaurant • Maria, the host at the Preferred breakfast club • Sandro, the towel gentleman and pool attendant • Henry, Robert, Claudia, and Julissa at the Preferred pool bar—who made every day by the pool an experience to remember • Andrea and Juan from the Preferred lounge bar—exceptional in both conversation and service • Eddie from the Barefoot Grill, who went above and beyond by walking past two pools to personally deliver our food • Esmeralda, Ivan, Britney, and Allison from the Preferred Club lobby • As well as all the ladies in concierge services at the main lobby, who helped arrange security passes so a friend of mine could join us for the day The resort itself is beautiful, clean, and extremely well maintained. But what truly sets Dreams Cap Cana apart is its people. I highly recommend upgrading to the Preferred level. The added amenities, access, and elevated service are absolutely worth it. I’ve read some negative reviews, but having been there, I can say this: your attitude shapes your vacation. I witnessed firsthand how unrealistic expectations and negative behavior impacted some guests’ experiences. In contrast, approaching the staff with positivity, patience, and respect goes a long way—this team responds far better to kindness than complaints. Because of these shining stars, my wife and I have decided that our search is over—Dreams Cap Cana will be our go-to resort moving forward. Bottom line: If you go in with realistic expectations, a positive attitude, and take advantage of the Preferred upgrade, Dreams Cap Cana delivers an exceptional vacation experience.

Whala Bavaro: poor, uneven walkways. Dangerous to anyone with balance or walking issues. not well lit at night.

Food was good there were cockroaches in the couch in the room wait time to check in was very long--over 2 hours the maid service was good the buffet was loud the music was too loud the beach vendors were very aggressive

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Good enough but not 5 stars

As officially in our senior years, we chose this resort because of its size (149 rooms), being adults only and 5 star rating. However, this is not a 5 star resort, more likely a 4 star. While the whole experience was quite satisfactory, there are a couple of things because of which we will not be back: We chose a room without a balcony, as it was a bit cheaper. The hotel has three floors with elevator access. The fourth level is attic, accessible by two flights of stairs only. The hotel  [... read more]gave us a room in the attic, at the very end of the last building (room 429). Every day we had to walk to the end of the world and use these stairs at least a couple of times. The hotel was clearly not at its full capacity, and they do have rooms without balcony on other floors which have elevator access. The fact that they gave such room to two women 65 years old just shows a blatant lack of care and respect. While the room itself was generally clean and comfortable, there was constantly a trace of some chemical smell, which was absorbed by all our clothing and even luggage and followed us back home. The second thing is that the lobby bar opens at 4:00 pm only. During the day, there is no place on the beach or by the pool where you can have an espresso or cappuccino, and there is no place on the beach to get drinks or even water. However, the grounds are beautiful, and the staff was very pleasant.

Nickelodeon Hotel Punta Cana: Expensive

Resort is clean and nice but some activities are not included and should pay in high price. And less activity to compare to other high level resorts in Punta Cana. Personally never back to it Not worth with 2 kids to spend a lot

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Amazing place

Perfect for families and groups. Large resort with lots of choice for quiet or party areas. Our room overlooked a pool and swim up bar. Not noisy at night. Lots of daily food choices at the buffet restaurant. We also tried a couple of the a la cartes, but the buffet was our favourite. Perfect weather with occasional brief rain showers. In room fridge restocked daily with water, beer and pop. Staff everywhere were friendly. Only issue was smokers outside of designated areas.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Know before you go

Visited Melia Punta Cana 30th March - 6th April 2026 Airport- luggage got broken into in Punta Cana Airport upon arrival & departure-stolen items by baggage handlers(Do not put anything valuable in suitcase-infact try and not take checked luggage at all) Food- Not 5 Star. Minimul restaurant options, food was only warm most days. Variety very repetative in buffet, Service in Mediterranean extreemly slow, waited 60 minutes to get a starter & 2 hours for whole meal. Considering they have signs indicating no speakers by the sunbeds, lot of loud music coming from there. Staff- extreemly miserable all the time. Spoil the atmostphere of the holiday. Seems that unless to tip heavily, expect very slow service. Minibar in room. Only water, pop & 2 beers Grounds- Beautiful (Best part of the hotel) Entertainment-hit & miss Pool-very good size. Beach bar- more like a shed, not a beach bar Beach- lots of seaweed, consistant flow of beach sellers, sea a bit rough outside hotel Overall, this is not a 5star hotel as indicated, more 3.5 in my opinion. Considering we paid over $5800 for a 7 night trip, I would say save your money and go to Jamaica. We will not be returning to The Dominican Republic or this hotel anytime soon.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: I didn’t want to leave….

March 5-12, 2026. My first visit to a resort. We were greeted by Alex our concierge, He proved to be amazing and made our trip so relaxing… A daily update on what was available, his hours and we saw him everyday. Next visit I will definitely request Alex. There is so many choices of restaurants… the French restaurant had the best steak.. The beach is wonderful, I could have just sat enjoying the sound of the waves, pelicans and the people enjoying the waves. No Sargassum, very few people selling on the beach. If you just say no they do not bother you. I would recommend paying the extra for Xhale, the Xhale lounge is amazing and the staff are fabulous. If you have the opportunity to see Sam (singer) at the lounge. He was amazing. The rooms were big, very clean and well taken care. Thank you Manuel.

Playabachata Hotel: Perfect cheap and cheerful resort

Hotel was nice, showing its age but its well maintained and they do there best to bring a solid experience. Food was decent, fresh eggs and donuts every morning. Beach was large and had lots of mature palm trees. Rooms could use some updates, hard to get a spot at the pool and lines can get long for food. Good mix for young or older people. Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Nice little resort

Nice spot. Small resort, everything within a short walk. GREAT food at every meal, including the fried chicken at the beach bar. Rooms are adequate. Pool and beach loungers were scarce and some broken.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing resort!

We stayed in this resort for seven days! It was an amazing experience, and we will be back to this resort for sure. Rooms were clean, and the buffet and restaurants served great food. The staff are friendly and nice. The beach is clean, water is warm. Highly recommended!!!

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great resort!

My family had a great time at Casa Marina. This was a great resort. It was very clean, had great staff, lots of activities each day, and was great for families. I would definitely recommend Casa Marina to anyone looking to visit the DR.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Nice vacation!

This was approximately our 8th visit to Bahia Principe in Punta Cana. The last 5 times, exclusively to the Aquamarine section. The staff are friendly, courteous, approachable and available. Guest Services in Lobby 2 were very helpful. The rooms are beginning to look a little tired, but were clean and always ready by the time we returned from the beach. The food was good and plentiful. The lunch offered at the beach in the Los Olas building is a let down. Unfortunately, it allows everyone from the entire resort into this space and it is clearly not big enough or staffed well enough to handle the number of people for lunch. Tables were left dirty for long periods of time with no help in sight. I realize the option for us was to walk back to the Aquamarine buffet, but the entire reason for this destination is the beach....where we like to stay the entire day. Years ago, we were allowed to go to the Ambar beach restaurant, but no more. The beach itself is beautiful and well maintained. The section for Aquamarine guests is too small. Towels on loungers at 6 or 7 in the morning are the norm. We often saw too many of these "reserved" seats with nobody at them til late afternoon or only there for an hour or so. Obviously we like this place, but only wish the beach had it's own "adult only" restaurant and more space. Take some from Ambar...their side of the beach is underused.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Great Resort

The Hotel Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata has well manicured grounds. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was always a large selection of food choices at the buffet. The food at the buffet and Al a cart restaurants were delicious and well presented. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Overall the resort was amazing. Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Emotions

Overall this was a very nice resort with very friendly staff. We had great weather and enjoyed relaxing by the pool or the beach. Booking for the 3 restaurants is a challenge as the wifi is very weak so made it difficult but the on-site buffet was a good alternative with lots of variety. Hotel rooms are very basic but are clean.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly at Cofresi Palm Beach Resort

The Good: The staff, the two main buffets and some of the ala carte restaurants were alright (not all of the ala carte restaurants were open or available). The small gym was clean and available. We had requested a ground floor room and that's what we got. Our room was cleaned daily. The Bad: There are 160 stairs between the beach and the lobby. We managed, but if you have mobility issues you'll be in trouble. Some of the buildings and walkways are in poor repair. The reception desk staff did no [... read more]t provided any useful assistance even when asked several times. There was a frequent sewage smell. The pools were gross dirty with hair and plastic cups. The only way to get service was to tip the cleaning and maintenance people. The Ugly: Our room was in very poor repair. The furniture was old (armchair was broken, beds were almost unusable, the closet doors were falling apart). The towels and linen were old but clean. The bedsheets were so thin that there were holes in some places (we use stuff like that for rags at the cottage). The pillows were lumpy (I know that sounds like a dumb complaint, but there were really bad). There was no roller in the toilet paper holder, so toilet paper sat stacked on the back of the toilet all the time. The toilet didn't flush properly. The bathtub wouldn't drain for hours after a shower. The shower hose and wand leaked. The sliding door was impossible to open and close. The main door wouldn't close without slamming it (I'm sure our neighbours hated us for it). There was no TV for the first four days and then not one English channel. The room phone was hit and miss. The clock radio didn't work and there was no control for the air conditioner.

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Beautiful resort with food handling problems

The resort itself is very beautiful and clean. The pools were always clean and inviting. Our room was also very lovely. our problems begin with a severe sickness after eating at the Portofino restaurant. I had shrimp on my Caesar salad and it was very ill the next day.
