Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: My happy place

So happy to be back. Can't say enough good things about this resort. Yes there were shortages but I go to be with the lasting friendships I have made with the staff and for the beach/ocean. Sunwing VIP'S stole the show with special food, drinks and entertainment only for them while paying guests went without. I get that they are trying to increase occupancy by selling the resort to the Sunwing reps in the hopes that they will send their clients here but it did put a sour taste in the mouths of t [... read more]he other "regular" guests.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Needs lots of work

I was at Sanctuary grand memories. The beach was amazing pool was good , staff are friendly & helpful. The hotel is in need of work , rooms are very outdated , run down clean as can be …..except the pillow case came off one of my pillows & it was so dirty & black with mold . Staff did well with food with the supplies they had same as the drinks

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: “ Cheap and Cheerfull with No Frills”

The best part about Cayo Coco is the beach. You will not go hungry here with limited options. You just have to find what you like to eat for the week and stick to that. Basic amenities are provided and staff are more than willing to try and meet your needs. Little to no night life if that’s your thing. Lenny’s is a great place to visit if you want to get off the resort. Bugs are a definite problem with no intervention to clear them out.

This is definitely not a 4.5 star resort. Pros beds were comfortable, beach is amazing Staff are wonderful Cons, pool is falling apart, rooms definitely need an upgrade, Wooden stairs leading to a spot to eat actually broke while someone was walking up them, food was scarce, mold on pillows, not much of a selection for drinks Overall I would give this maybe a 2.5

I have to say that I was very hesitant to go to Cuba for our family vacation this year. We had heard many things about the food shortages and hotel conditions. We were flabbergasted by the fantastic resort! Beautifully spread out...your choice of 3 pools, plenty of bars, food / snack bars and great music entertainers! The room was in immaculate condition. The room service was excellent, our room maid was so particular to ensuring our room was clean with a lovely flower and towel animal surpri [... read more]se on the bed or counter daily! We were on the ground floor right near the pool, so I was afraid it would be noisy. Not at all! The loudspeaker only goes on at 10am with soft meditation music. The loud party time is from 3-6pm and by 8pm, it is a ghost town. No rocking disco to keep you awake all night. The entertainment was fun and clean. Good dancing lessons. Beach was immaculately cleaned every morning. Great yoga on the beach. Massage was good and the Spa was so serene! Gym was very modern and new equipment. Thank you Beth for suggesting this place. We were very pleased!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Fantastic resort

Rooms were clean had clean towels. Food was doable had lots didn't run out of anything. The staff were great, very helpful, and polite. Check in was a bit of a fuss but nothing worth complaining about. Grounds were clean well kept. Beach was well kept pools were clean.

Grand Memories Varadero: Nice Resort!!

This was a nice resort. It was bigger than we were used to. There’s two pools, one quiet and one filled with more excitement. Both of them have swim up, which was nice to choose where you wanted to go during the day. The food was ok. Cuba is going through a hard time right now, so I took that in consideration. Always something to eat just might not have been as fancy as we like. Everything was clean. We always saw maids cleaning the hallways in the bathrooms. On that note public bathrooms somet [... read more]imes had no toilet paper or no toilet seats. You learn to deal with it. The one downfall was that they were tons of mosquitoes in the lobby in the Cuban bar and on the beach. So bring bug spray, we upgraded to the diamond club and thought it was worth it. We had our own little breakfast and lunch restaurant that they served you and it was fast no lineups. Got a nice ocean view room, but it is furthest from everything we had one specialty dinner that serve lobster, chicken And smoked salmon salad.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Amazing Resort but will never go back

This resort has the best layout and the most incredible beach of all the trips we took over the last 25 years all over the Caribbean but will never ever go back. It took 4 days before we finally got TOILET PAPER in our room, and 5 days to bring clean bath towels. No eggs, no bread, no water. 2nd day in we had to go off resort to buy water. Bringing our concerns to guest service and specially to our Sunwing Rep didn’t help because the only answers we got is that they had issues getting stuff i [... read more]n. Being in Cuba we knew they had issues and we didn’t blame the resort, the only one to blame is SUNWING, they knew about all issues and problems Cuba are experiencing and SUNWING should have been honest and upfront with their customers and tell them all this but in my mind they’re only in it to make money. Every drinks were watered down, even the coffee and meal were cold. Even air conditioning was never fixed in our room either.

Grand Memories Holguin: Did Not Live Up to Expectation!

SUMMARY – we were there Apr. 10 - 21, 2024 and are unlikely to return. When considering this review, we are mustard people, not Grey Poupon. Cuba offers exceptional value for the price. We have been to 5 Cuban resorts in the past 2 years. 3 of the 5 we would go back to. SANCTUARY – did not live up to expectation and some of the advertised claims were not provided or available. Principally, we were told to go early Sunday morning to book a la carte reservations for the next week which we did [... read more]. All times around 7:00 p.m. were already gone. Our butler never approached us to book reservations as others seemed to get. CHECK-IN – very easy and our room was ready. RESORT – very well taken care of. I saw staff cleaning railings three times. ROOM – quite roomy and a nice layout. Air conditioning would stop / start erratically. STAFF – unlike previous resorts, we really did not connect with staff, but the service was very good. BEACH – important to us, this beach was disappointing for us considering the coral starts about 50 feet from the shore. Bring lake shoes if you go. All other aspects were fine. This beach ranks last out of the 5 we’ve been to. By example, Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Cayo Coco where most of the beach is powdery sand which extends way out into the ocean including sandbars. You can walk for miles along the beach. POOLS – all fine other than the lounge chairs are horrendous. FOOD – for the most part, typical Cuban spread. We were pleased with the a la carte restaurants. Buffet had eggs 2/3 breakfasts, bacon rarely, bottled water rarely, wine always. Shortages are a Cuba issue, not the resort. WI-FI – excellent! Login details were good for the duration of our stay. TIPPING – we live by the belief that Cuban people need some help and that if you take care of people, they take care of you. We bring lots of stuff to hand out and tip as well. Do not bring coins. Buy coins from the staff, tip with the coins, and then buy the coins at the end of the stay. MISC. – mosquitoes were a non-issue. FACEBOOK GROUP – it was apparent that there are some people who are passionate about this resort, and Cuba. At one point, it was over-the-top when one FB member criticized another’s FB post. The FB post wrote that the resort did not deliver as promised, twice, for a 6-year-old birthday cake. The FB member told them they should go to the Dominican Republic. Please consider that one person’s experience / expectation may not be the same as yours. Never discourage people from going to Cuba! Think about the amount of your all-inclusive cost, and tips, that one person going to Cuba puts into the Cuban economy. I struggle with Cuba, and Sunwing nonsense, but still want to go with our next trip scheduled for the Fall.

Kim and I arrive at the Sanctuary at Grand Memories on April 8th . We spent a week at this resort also last year in May for a week ! My husband and I love this resort . We love the staff they are so accommodating ! Our butler Was very sweet and kind ! All the staff go out of their way to help you ! I would definitely recommend this hotel ! Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Nice place

The grounds are very well kept. Our room was nice and in excellent repair, the only drawback was that there was no hot water and they were unable to fix.we were there for two weeks The alacartes were surprisingly good, well served and delicious. With our diamond club we got an extra alacarte, and so enjoyed our served breakfast every day. The buffet became monotonous quickly so we had lunch at bites or at the beach restaurants, beans cafe at the pool was really nice , try the cold coffee and ic [... read more]e cream drink and had great cappuccino. There were a few shortages at times, eggs, rice, bread, beans, soap in the bathrooms and toilet paper. If you go to be sure to take all your meds, snacks and a couple of rolls of toilet paper.Also small packs of Kleenex for resort washrooms which were often without any. The lounge at the airport was disappointing. We were there for an hour had balogna on a bun and instant coffee( yes saw the girl make it ). Wasn’t, much else available but juices and beer and rum. No pastries. Two flights of stairs up,then across the airport and then 2 flights of stairs down to get to the lounge. Escalator and elevator not working, my sore knee was not happy. All and all enjoyed this resort ,but if you can,t handle the shortfalls you won,t be happy. P.s. the staff was wonderful

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Loved this resort!!

Really liked the hotel !! For Cuba it’s well kept .. could use updating but you’re not in the room enough to care!! Enjoyed both the pool and of course the beach was amazing!! Get diamond club upgrade it’s worth it!!

Grand Memories Santa Maria: good

Since I found that Cuba was given alot of poor reviews, I thought the stay at Grand Memories was good for the price. I would go back again if I had a lean budget. The service was very good, the housekeeping was very good, the people were very helpful, and courteous. The entertainment was good. I would of liked to have the opportunity to dance more. Overall I would rank it good.

Memories Jibacoa: Late March getaway

This resort is amazing easy to walk through beautiful beach, snorkelling right off the beach the staff you can’t find any better. I really didn’t want to break this beat review because I don’t want everybody going to my resort room a bit dated, but we only sleep in there and shower and their beds are comfy, the food is really good for Cuba. I stayed two weeks and I ate something different every day. Never bored the entertainment at night I’ve seen several times so we didn’t go this time. They al [... read more]ways have activities around the pool Aqua fitness, bingo, rum, tastings Spanish lessons, dance lessons, and yoga. This is not a resort for young people. It is quiet and so serene.

Grand Memories Varadero: Great time

I was very pleased with my trip overall. It was difficult as the main pool was closed down for a full+ day. But we enjoyed the quiet pool and the beach during those times. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. We had cold water in the shower, but hey!.

Memories Cayo Largo: NIce resort

The resort is old but the staff work hard to maintain the grounds and facilities. The housekeeping is excellent. The control of insects is poor. The difficulties with supplies make it difficult but the staff are the very best
