Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great in some areas, need improvements in others.
Hotel
In terms of the hotel itself, it is nice and clean. The resort itself consist of the Royalton Riviera Cancun and the Hideaway at the Royalton Riviera Cancun (Adults only) section which are directly connected with one another. You can explore both the Hideaway and the Royalton Splash as I did not encounter anyone checking to see if you are in the right section. However, everyone is given seperate bracelets to differentiate the section that they are in. If you want lounge chairs by the po[... read more]ol or even near the pool, you have to get a towel and place it there to reserve it. If you do not, you will find that there are no chairs for you to sit in other than the very few that are out in the open with no cover whatsoever.
Food
The food at Gourmet Marche (Buffet), Hunters Steakhouse, and Taj (Indian) was above average. At Zen (Teppanyaki Grill), you are mostly going there for the show rather than the taste and quality of the food. However, you have to line up at 3:00 pm on the same day to ensure you have a reservation at at the Chef's table. Otherwise you will be ordering from a seperate menu in a seperate table. Personally, I did not like the food at Agave (Mexican) and Grazie Italian Trattoria (Their pasta was subpar but their pizzas was delicious as it was cooked in a wood stone oven). Keep in mind, the wait for your food can take up to 45-60 minute at Hunter's Steakhouse. I would recommend trying the gelato from the Scoops Gelato and Caffe Lounge as they had multiple flavours (Coffee, Mango Passionfrust, strawberry, strawberry with cream, pistachio, pina colada, lime).
Room
The beds were very comfortable due to their Dreambed mattress. Despite advertisting it, they do not refill our minibar every single day. Therefore, you have to request it with guest services in order for them to refill it. Their rooms are a bit dated in the sense that the mirrors are a bit rusty and their toliet can require multiple flushes. There is that sewer smell from the shower, but I did not mind it as it is a familiar smell in hot and humid countries.
Transportation
If you wanted to travel to downtown Cancun or anywhere in the hotel zone (Cancun), you have no choice but to use their hotel taxi which I have been quoted $65 USD one way. Uber does not work as the resort is right outside of the border of Cancun. It can get very expensive if you plan to make multiple trips to Cancun. Even if you were to try to walk from the front of the hotel to the front gates of the hotel, it would take approxiate 45-60 minutes for you to do so. The road has no sidewalks and there are signs advising you against doing so due to wildlife living in the mangroves. However, it is not a problem if you plan on staying in the resort for the entire duration of your stay.
Summary
Although the food was above average and the room itself was quite comfortable, I do not think I would return as I like to travel outside of the resort and sightsee. $65 USD for a one way trip is way too expensive and the lack of alternative transportation options to leave the resort made it feel like I was trapped within the resort.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Great resort for families!
The overall experience at the resort was good especially if you have kids. This resort caters a lot of the entertainment at night towards kids. It has a lot of pools so over crowding isn’t usually a problem. There is more than enough bars and a la carte restaurants but beware not all the proper information is given at Checkin regarding reservations. The laser tag, bowling and trampoline are not included and are quite expensive so be cautious of that. The resort is only 18-20 minutes from cancun a[... read more]irport so that was great. There are a lot of drink options but it’s best to ask for a drink menu as when we asked the servers what they recommend, some were dumbfounded. Our room was great and cleaned well everyday, no complaints there. Another tip is to pay the resort tax at checkout not Checkin. The shops on the resort are not cheap and the next closest shopping would be 1hr away at playa del Carmen. It’s hot so I’d recommend bringing a hat.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Great newer resort
This hotel is only a few years old, so the building and its amenities are still quite new. Our room was beautiful. We opted for the Diamond Club once we arrived and it was worth it. The restaurants are fantastic and the service is outstanding. The beach unfortunately is experiencing an influx of seaweed, but the hotel staff is doing all that they can to minimize it through daily raking and setting up a seaweed barrier out on the water. The proximity to the airport is really convenient. Only a[... read more] 15-20 minute drive.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Paradise!!
We stayed in the over water bungalow and it did not disappoint. Was better than the pictures and provided the most stunning views in all directions. Zo and Earl were one step ahead of anything we needed each day. All of the restaurants were excellent and we had a true 5 star experience. Friendly, helpful staff combined with stunning crystal clear water and you have all you need!

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Great experience...
The hotel offers top tier food selections throughout the Day. Only thing they don't have is lobster. Ugh. Wish they did.
Staff is helpful and calming. Especially if you have high anxiety. They make you feel right at home.
Thanks to tripcentral and the suggestion made for this luxury resort.
The entertainment is outstanding. As well it's location. Bloody bay beach.
Overall a 8/10.
I'd given them a 10 had they had lobster.

Royalton Hideaway Saint Lucia: Nice resort but many disappointments as well
Stayed for 10 days in Apr/24. Overall, we enjoyed our time on this beautiful island. I'm giving a detailed list of pros/cons. Lots of cons compared to other resorts we have been to, but we tried not to let them bring us down. I do think hotel management needs to address some of these issues - we heard similar complaints from other guests.
Pros:
- good food, including buffet. Minor issue of overcooked steak once but otherwise we enjoyed most meals. As with most Caribbean resorts, if y[... read more]ou are a chocoholic, you may be disappointed with the desserts!
- no reservations necessary for a la carte restaurants, except the Japanese one. Usually wait was not that long - they gave you a buzzer to go and have a drink and get notified when table was ready
- lots of pools
- bracelet with key is great - no need to keep track of a key card
- beach/pool towels - take as needed, no need to sign them in/out or being limited to 1 per person
- room was nice
- no charge for canvas-covered cabanas, just first come first served (although you'll need to get up early, likely before 6am to snag one)
- separate check-in lobby for Hideaway guests was nice, but our room wasn't ready even though we didn't arrive until after 3
- shout out to room attendant Maxilina - she left a few handwritten notes for us welcoming us and showing appreciation. Also, Hideaway beach bartender Brian was great! Had a lovely waitress at the Italian restaurant - sorry, can't recall her name.
- country singer, Shervon Sealy was great - an amazing voice
- snorkeling off the beach was really good. Tons of small fish. We brought a bun from the buffet and broke off pieces and were swarmed by lots of fish.
Cons:
- most wait staff and bartenders (with the exception of those noted above) were not friendly and seemed annoyed/bothered whenever you ordered something. The restaurant greeters were friendly and welcomed you but after that, staff did not engage. We've been to other resorts where all staff members smiled and greeted you whenever you encountered them, including maintenance staff passing you on the sidewalk. Not so here, they don't engage and do not seem to be enjoying their job in the service industry.
- even though the resort did not seem full, there were never enough bartenders at the swim up bars. Very slow service as a result.
- bars were constantly running out of ingredients to make standard cocktails or the special cocktails on their menu. Also ran out of beer one day!
- other shortages: napkins and spoons at buffet were often missing, facecloths in rooms. Witnessed someone asking housekeeping for a bar of soap only to be told they were out.
- nightly entertainment was pretty lame for the most part and somewhat repetitive. 'Live music' was usually just a karaoke-type performance. Also, most shows end at 10 and then a big gap until a vibe party at 11. We never bothered hanging around for that - I think they hope this is the case so they save money on alcohol if everyone turns in early. Silent headphone party was particularly disappointing. There were only 2 channels of music to choose from. One was not our style but the other initially appealed to us and several other guests who were up dancing and singing to Abba, Shania Twain etc. But then I guess we were having too much fun because the songs soon changed to a style similar to the other channel and then no one was dancing and people were handing back their headphones. I guess the dj's were more interested in playing the songs they liked instead of being aware of what was appealing to the guests.
- the foot washing/shower stations between the beach and the pool didn't work, so no way to rinse off the sand other than in the pool. So the sand collected in the pool and was never vacuumed out.
- separate toilet area in our room had a barn-door which didn't latch and wouldn't stay shut. We requested it be fixed the first day and no one ever showed up to fix it.
- the swim up pool bars had chunks of the bar ledge missing. Some upkeep is definitely needed.
- just a heads-up that the canvas umbrellas and canvas cabana covers do not protect from the sun as you would expect. We burn easily so were very careful to move our loungers around as the day went on to be sure we were always in the shade. However, we still got sunburned. The beach has wood umbrellas which served the purpose much better.
Excursions:
- helicopter transfer from the airport was amazing. Got us there very quickly and the views were amazing
- walked to Pigeon island - about 25 minute walk taking the shortcut (talk to the security guard at the edge of the property near the Diamond Club for directions). Park opens at 9:30. Cost to enter is $10 each. We climbed both peaks. Taller peak was more demanding and you will want proper footwear for this - flip flops will not work well!
- catamaran/sulpher mud bath/waterfall/lunch/snorkelling - this was fun. Great way to see the island from the water. Mud bath was kind of neat but overrated. Staff seemed to really rush you through the whole process with so many other guests. Waterfall was cold and powerful but fun. Staff take pictures of you on your phone which is great. Lunch buffet was nothing special, but the view was amazing - we were up high in the mountains and looking over at the Pitons and ocean. Snorkelling - lackluster, not many fish and not that colourful.
-ATV adventure - was very fun going on trail through rainforest. Stopped for a few picturesque views. Tour guide was very quiet/low energy but still had a great time.
- 30 minute jetski ride for $80 from beach vendor was a lot of fun.

Royalton Hideaway Saint Lucia: Wonderful Vacation
Stayed at Hideaway by Royalton April 13-20, 2024. Absolutely wonderful vacation. Booked Diamond Club and the upgrade was worth the extra money. Butlers Fabian and Gillian were responsive, attentive and made our stay that much more enjoyable. Food was very good at all restaurants. Private transfer with Island Taxi highly recommended. Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Great resort but food not so good
The resort was really nice, entertainment was amazing and the pools were great! We were in Diamond Club so we utilized the pools in that area the most. Entertainment was amazing and there was lots of things to do.
For a 5-star resort, the food was not that great. The a la carte restaurants were not great. Rio was the only decent one and we ended up eating there 3 out of the 7 days we were there. Buffet was better than the restaurants. For a 5-star, the food should be a lot better.
We also [... read more]did not sleep well because you could hear everything going on in the halls. Probably woke up 5+ times a night due to people walking, talking, things rolling, people deciding to randomly knock on doors for fun or stomping around.
Overall, it was a great resort for entertainment and all of the activities but the food was not good.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Meh
First the people are exceptional everyone was so nice and accommodating. The resort itself amazing and the beach out of this world. The food was ok I'm not picky but it was pretty scarce to even make a decent salad and even the basics were abcent. Absolutely no condiments hardly butter for toast. Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Very disappointed!
The good: (1)the resort is beautiful (2) views are incredable (3) Pizza (4) wait staff in Portafino's (Nicole on Apr. 13th) (5) Sails & Tails location
The bad: (1) Customer service staff need training-(2) 1 bartender at the pool bar was always on her cell phone (3) room was to be cleaned every 2 days-only cleaned twice in 7 daya (4) some staff were great, others were miserable (5) lack of pool towels was an issue but this was due to greedy guests
The ugly: (1) extra charges upon check-out amo[... read more]unted to $36./day US. I don't consider this an all inclusived resort. (2)Food at Nicole's was burnt and the lobster could not even be cut with a knife-we were told we would not be charge but saw a charge of $80.US on our bill when we got home. (3) Hostess at Portafinos on our early Apr. 13 reservaction-it was so cold and my husband asked if the overhead fan could be turned down-hostess came over and i have never been treated so rudely in a restaurant. She said the fans were remote controlled & she didn't know where they were & she would not adjust the temp. just to please me!! Not all fans were at full speed but the 1 over our table was. She moved us to another table & when I went to sit down, she told me to go back to the other table & get my water & drink. (4) no information available in our room on the resort-menus, activities, etc. When asking staff questions (even at customer service) the answer most often was "I don't know".
This was our 5th vacation to Antigua and our 1st visit to this resort. We will not be back!!

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: The good and the nit so good, an honest review
Honest review as we wait to go to airport.
1. Arrival and check-in. It's a little unsettling to pass over your passport and then see staff walking around with a stack of them looking for the owner's. Got ours back. Rum punch was nice idea could be better executed as it's way too sweet and strong.
2. Bellman helped with bags when we arrived as we were on 3rd floor but at week's end, even though they called to make a time to pick up our bags we waited 1 hour past the time and still no sh[... read more]ow so we had to carry our bags down 3 flights
3. Room . Got exactly what we paid for as non DC and non ocean view. it was clean. Comfy beds. The towels were always changed and fridge refreshed with water daily. Decent vanity space and large shower with lots of warm water.
4. Vibe club. Total miss here. Played deafening music that was some version of rap with a heavy base beat that went right through you. It made it impossible to stay at the pool. Even when asked, they did not change music for long. Average age was 50+ and I can't believe I was the only one annoyed by this. Didn't see any engagement with the vibe team as they seemed to be talking to each other or on their phones.
5. Fitness. Morning yoga was great as were the twice weekly off property walks. Only went to aquafit once due to timing but it was good also. I'm a Morning person so did not do yoga in afternoon but assuming it was as great as morning. Shout out to Kelson and Jeremy. Didn't use the gym but it looked well equipped. Always had bottles of water.
6. Cafe. Great cappuccino and always cold bottles of water. I tried the cinnamon sugar donut, yummy!
7. Bars well stocked and service pretty good overall. Good white wine, always nice and cold, and good proseco
8. Food. A huge miss here. MA maison and Taj both really good but nothing exceptional. Don't waste your time at Grazzi for either lunch or dinner. Breakfast buffet was consistently good with made to order omelets. Lunch and dinner at buffet was inconsistent. Some days pretty good and others dismal. All fish was terribly over cooked. Too much chicken. Nibbles for lunch was OK and conveniently located.
9. Service. We always had great service but we approached the staff wigh respect and kindness and tipped as appropriate. The service is The only reason that it's a good resort- save the bellman debacle at checkout. We tipped where deserved but a smile and a kind word did wonders to gaining a positive interaction.
Any questions, just ask
10. Excursions. We did private with Dave's tours. Exactly what we asked for. Would recommend
11. Spa. Very professional and the 2 treatments I had were great!
12. Beach. Best for swimming was the small beach where water sports are located. DC Beach was rockiest. Middle beach always had lots of loungers and pretty views. Could use more shade umbrellas.
13. Safety. Very safe island.
Took taxi into town. It's expensive.
Also took the local bus by myself with no issues. I recommend this adventure!!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Top Notch!
Beautiful, large resort with unique boardwalk throughout the grounds. Very spacious and clean rooms with large balcony and separate bathroom so others may still be getting ready at the sink or shower. Friendly helpful staff, especially Bryan, our butler (customer service rep). We enjoyed yoga, pool fitness, volleyball, dance lessons and lots of walks on the beach. Tex mex was the favourite restaurant. Don't worry about upgrading to 'diamond club'. We were able to get into any restaurant by just [... read more]lining up 15 min early. No problem when you have a pina colada in your hand and you're meeting new people. Many shade structures available. No shortages on food. Bring tissue to the beach or pool washrooms. Toilet paper does not get replenished there as often. Maids do a great job in the rooms though. Lots of entertainment in the main bar and restaurants. High class resort. Well maintained and attention to detail.

Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters: Hideaway Blue waters Jamaica
Stayed in presidential diamond club suite. Beautiful clean room. Came with diamond club service. This was non existent. Other than having someone book your restaurants for you - there wasn't any other perks noted. it certainly is not what is advertised. So to answer your question is it worth the upgrade, my experience is that it is absolutely not. And yes I have booked diamond club in other countries/resorts.
The beach is beautiful and grounds are gorgeous.
The music the week we were there st[... read more]arted at 10 am until 5 pm around the pool and then most days started up across from our particular room around 6pm for wedding or gathering that was hosted for a specific group at that time. Then after the evening shows the sports bar would play music until 2am. I love music, however after 6 days of listening to music very loudly for basically all day and night - with the base up much higher than the music itself (which I think was the worst part of it) it was way too much. The music I felt was much louder than all other places I have gone to. There needs to be down time for some of us and I could not escape it as where my room was located. I could even hear the base when in bed in the night from the sports bar, with all doors closed. So if you are looking for any relaxation and quite time - this is not the place to go.
I found that the service was very poor. It was very difficult to get service at just about any of the bars - and not because they were busy, there were issues with service with just about anywhere on the resort. I also found there to be rudeness. Honestly I have travelled to many countries and the lack of interest to serve someone I had not experienced before. It may be just the people during my visit that I ran into, as others have commented on excellent service. I felt that they just didn't care or seem to even want to be there.
Overall I would not recommend this resort, yes it is beautiful and the accommodations were lovely however because of the service and value I feel that for the price paid $6200, I would certainly try somewhere different. Again this was just my experience, I don't consider myself to have high expectations
