Excellent all-inclusive resort!

This was our second stay in 7 months, and we are now planning our third trip! The staff went above and beyond to make our trip truly wonderful! This property offers exceptional value for travellers wanting to relax and enjoy all that Varadero has to offer.

Great staff and beautiful resort

The pools were biggest I have to at a resort and a cool infinity pool. The staff were amazing and best food I have had in Cuba yet. The resort needs to be finished as it is so new but very happy with our stay

Great, Relaxing Stay!

My friend and I came for a week in May. The resort was not fully which was nice as you never had to worry about getting a lounge chair or crowding at the bars or buffet. Our room was great, our maid was very sweet and attentive! Never ran out of hot water when showering! Recommend building 2, we thought if was a great location from pool, lobby and restaurants. It was more of a walk to get there but so worth it if you want shade! Water was stunning and refreshing. Note: The main beach doesn't have any palapas for shade and not a lot of umbrellas at both pools. Service at the resort was wonderful, not one bad experience!

Great resort

Very clean,food better than expected..hard working staff...for a new resort,things went very smoothly....friendly staff...Mike's coffee shop a nice bonus..2 beaches to pick from,more shade on the beach on the right..

Awesome Resort and Staff!

We had a lovely time and really enjoyed staying at this hotel. They were very accommodating and we would highly recommend it. The serenity pool located just outside the main lobby is breathtaking, the rooms were clean and the food was very good, with lots of selection to please most. Currently they offer two Beach locations on either side of the resort, one has no umbrellas for coverage and the other is a bit far to walk for those who require something closer. The entertainment was EXCELLENT - a variety of shows with talented dancers, musicians and magicians!

Beautiful resort

Ocean Vista Azul is a beautiful new resort. Very clean and the grounds are beautiful. Everything is very close and convenient, there is a beautiful infinity pool that looks over the ocean. Rooms are always clean and tidy and very modern. The food is fresh daily and the snack bar is always open. I would highly recommend this hotel to all the travellers going to Varadero Cuba.

Nice resort

Great rooms, but hard beds. Nice restaurants, and the buffet was amazing. Pool and beach were good. Entertainment was just ok, but at least they tried hard and it was enjoyable . I would go back again.

Nice clean resort

With some minor changes this resort could be one of the best in varadero. One of my only complaints is that there was no shade on the beach on the left hand side at all. Very limited shade at the pools as well. There were umbrellas however they were few and far between and were gone in minutes. The resort was nice and small. Infinity pool was amazing! The rooms were very clean and decorated nicely. The pillows were terrible, and the bed wasent the most comfortable. Service was great, and what yo [... read more]u would expect from Cuba. Would recommend this resort to other people and would probably go back.

Cuban Delight

The hotel common areas and sleeping rooms were excellent. Service was prompt and staff were friendly. Only complaints were the sleeping pillows, which lacked a considerable amount of stuffing. The second issue involves the eating areas. As most that are familiar with this hotel, there was one disturbing practice of not removing the plastic placemats and "unused utensils" between visitors. There is no way the wait staff knew what utensils were actually dirty. The crumbs from the table were often  [... read more]seen just wiped to the floor. I believe that the tables should be completely cleared, and reset with all knew placemats and utensils.

Wonderful Vacation!!

Overall we really enjoyed our visit with Ocean Vista Azul. Our rooms were very clean and well kept, housekeeping staff were very friendly. The food and service at the buffet was average but we really enjoyed all three restaurants (we were in a group of 8 and had no problem getting in). The bar service was slow at times but staff were very friendly and did the best they could. The beaches were great but only the beach on the right has shade so we didn't spend much time on the activity beach (the  [... read more]left). I really feel that in time this will be a fantastic resort, we would visit again for sure. The only suggestions I would make would be to build more shade and bring on more staff to help with check in and at the bar etc. Two thumbs up to Ocean Vista Azul, thanks for a wonderful vacation!!

Overall, a great resort!

The hotel is beautiful! Infinity pool was our favorite and looks amazing at sunset! You did have a bit of shade in the morning but in the afternoon, you want to make sure you had a chair with a base beside it so when they brought out the umbrellas, you could ask for one. On the right hand side, it was a 5 minute walk to the bathrooms, the sand was a bit more coarse but this beach had shade and was still amazing. How could it not be...you are in Cuba! If you want to go out on the little catamaran, take advantage of the days that it is calm. The last few days we were there, it was very windy and we could not go out on one. The food was pretty good and the a la carte's were our favorite. They do not take reservations but you could go and request a time when they opened at 5:30pm. We never had a problem getting seated, especially because we were flexible. The entertainers were amazing dancers and put on a nice show. The nights they involved the audience were always very entertaining as well. The towel hut never seemed to have towels for most of the duration we were there but we found out after that they send out for laundry services and the machine was broken. The check in was terrible. It took us almost an hour and half to get our room and they were very disorganized. We were all tired and hungry and not impressed. They had 4 buses show up right around the same time and the lobby was full. They should really think of another system for a better start to someone's vacation. For the most part, service and people were great! I found that it was nice to tip for great service but they always seem to give you good service whether or not you did. Although, we did not always get good service at the buffet for water or drinks and the Italian Restaurant did not have the best service either. The bartenders at the lobby bar were great! The bartenders at the theatre bar were good as well but it seemed to be much busier at the times we were there so it was sometimes hard to get a drink. Overall, it was a beautiful resort and we had a great time.

Clean resort

Over all not bad. Would I go back? No. All the chairs where so low once to got down there was no way you where getting up. Food was ok. Service was great some places and bad at others. The staff was also the same. Just felt that they where a younger staff with not the same attitude of work. We traveled by air Transat and they where great.

Excellent resort!

This was my first time staying at Hotel Vista Azul and I would not hesitate in staying there again. The hotel was very clean, staff were very friendly and the location is awesome. The food options are plentiful. I would say service can be slow at times, the nightly entertainment and poolside entertainment shows could be improved and the poolside chairs are comfortable but very low to the ground and not easy to get in and out of. They also do not adjust so you can't lie flat if you want to which  [... read more]stinks. Lastly, the hotel shows light colors for a lot of the furniture so while the hotel opened November 2015, a lot of the furniture is stained and looks much older than only a few months. The interior designers should have considered going with blue or green or some darker colors to not reflect wear and tear as easily. Overall though, the resort was great and I highly recommend. I will definitely stay there again!

Great Resort!

Facilities were very good. Only downside of the site is the main beach for the resort has no umbrellas/shade. Air Transat setup in the Varadero airport is terrible. 800+ passengers getting on flights all at once and with no on-line check-in they have two people processing boarding passes and luggage. Kim Hartlen from Trip Central was amazing to deal with!

Luxury Resort!

The hotel was beautiful, staff was so friendly! We were pleasantly surprised by all the food choices! Fun times at pool bar and I loved coffee at the Infinity pool. Beaches are breathtaking! Our family had a good time, made new friends :)

Very nice Beach! So So Resort.....

By the time we arrived for check-in, it was almost midnight, as we were travelling from Moncton and our plane was delayed for 2 hours before departure. The lobby wasn't as "grand" as I expected, as I've travelled to other resorts before. This resort is very modern. We then went to the 24-hour bar to get a bite to eat and a drink. I was also disappointed in how the bartenders expected a tip every time I went to the bar. I did tip them the first time around, which I didn't mind, but not every time I wanted something. The lobby area looked dated for a new hotel, the seats were dirty and not the best seat coverings for a tropical resort in my opinion. The "big" tippers got way better service. The water is what was the most breathtaking, so clear and blue. Our maid was exceptional! very clean room after a long day at the beach. Our room was facing the pool area (block 8) which wasn't too bad, a bit noisy but nothing we couldn't handle. Glad I experienced Cuba for the first time, but wasn't my favorite location. The Ocean Vista Azul is a nice hotel, but don't think I would return to this hotel.

Relaxing holiday

Great resort. Beutiful beach. Very clean and new. We upgraded to oceanfront privilege and so glad we did. We only ate at buffet x2. Wasn't impreessed. With privilege we were able to sit down to a fresh lunch and breakfast. We also had a private lounge and late check out. We we're leo able to make reservations at a la carte with upgrade. Maids and staff were wonderful. Some better than others

Relaxing week

The room was absolutely fabulous. Loved the modern decor but it took away from the Cuban heritage(colours). Lots of hot water, cold water and lots of water pressure. So no plumbing issues within the resort. Ocean was clear and we were able to snorkel on the resort. Although there were not many different types of fish. Definitely lacking shade on the beach and pool areas. (Larger beach had shaded areas). Poolside entertainment was great. The Italian Ala carte was great. We went two nights. Would have liked to make reservations beforehand to be guaranteed a table. The buffet was good but not great. More selection of food would be nice and we found it to be rather bland. Nightly entertainment was great. Especially loved the Michael Jackson show and also the circus act. A larger gift shop would have been great too. Very little selection. Sunglasses were extremely hard to find. My husband lost his the first day in the ocean. We went to the nearest town to purchase a pair but very hard to find a pair their as well. All and all it was a great time. The weather, the staff and the grounds were all great! Drinks are fantastic!

Very excellent resort i would love to go again

excellent every where you go its the best the staff is very good in what they do, they our very friendly in deed, they always welcome you in every aspect, they make your good all the time, keep up the good work always.

Great Experience!

So new and modern, which was a nice change. Beach to the right was perfect for us, lots of shade and you could walk for miles. Lobby bar exceptional and restaurants were all very good. Loved that you didn't have to pre-book the restaurants. Only ate in the buffet for dinner the first night, they have issues with keeping prepared food hot so we avoided the buffet except for breakfast. Great trip!
