Villablanca Huatulco: Very busy Villablanca

Second time here this year. A different vibe from our February stay. More Mexican families, possibly due to their big holiday in November, also lots of Canadians, mainly repeat customers. Good value for the money paid. The location is central and walking distance to the lovely Chahue Beach. Yes you can walk to town but the heat is exhausting and taxis are only 35 pesos. We had a third floor room, #323, lots of stairs but that was ok for us as it’s top floor so no overhead noise. There is an el [... read more]evator on one side. The ground floor walkout rooms are the most coveted being that they are the only ones to have a sit out patio. Unfortunately the balconies on the rest are too small to sit out. Rooms are very basic. Staff are excellent. The included breakfast is plentiful. There is a tour desk so take advantage of that. We did the 7 bay tour and the coffee plantation and enjoyed both. It’s very hot in Huatulco so be prepared. We spent a lot of time around the pool. Enjoy!

Secrets Huatulco: A great holiday

We had a wonderful time at Secrets. The resort was clean and the staff was most accomodating. Food was good. We got the preferred package and the room was beautiful but you dont get much else so I cant recommend this package. Al in all we would most likely return another time

Riu Emerald Bay: Wasn’t overly impressed

The resort is nice, however, we had booked three rooms on the bottom floor all together. When we arrived all three rooms were scattered on three different floors. They couldn’t accommodate us with the rooms we requested until the next day and even then it wasn’t what we had booked. The adult pool bar was so cloudy and gross we skipped it and went to the other pools. Water and coffee was never replenished in our rooms (even though it says in the room pamphlet it’s stocked every two days) 4  [... read more]people out of our group got food poisoning and were laid up for two days. Couldn’t get any reservations for the restaurants. The food was average.

Riu Emerald Bay: Great family getaway

Traveled to Riu Emerald Bay on Nov 24th with wife and 2 young grandkids. Transfer and checkin were seamless and we were given a room in the new 4 storey building. The room was great but would have appreciated one that was not facing the air conditioning cooling towers as they run all day and are noisy when patio doors are open. Otherwise resort drinks and food were great, staff were helpful and beaches were awesome . And got those taking young kids the kids club was great with ball pits, dedicat [... read more]ed kids water slides and care workers . Yes we would go again .

Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit: Wonderful staff

The hotel itself is fairly small and share grounds with vacation condos. Despite that, we found the pools were adequate--2 out of 3 heated--and there were many lounge chairs with umbrellas around them. We are 'beach' folks and enjoy dipping in the pool but sitting the days away watching the ocean--unfortunately, the beach only has a few palapa umbrellas so to secure any shade, one must go out early and put your towels on a chair. Not ideal. (there is no bathroom very near the beach and the one  [... read more]that was closest was closed for 2 days so we had to go to the lobby) We liked the food--always found something enjoyable, rooms were fairly large and clean, a little entertainment in the evenings, fairly quiet atmosphere--best of all, the staff were friendly and helpful at all times--shout out to young Samuel, who took my hand whenever he saw me and ran after my friend to say goodbye when we were leaving--

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Lovely resort

We had a fantastic family vacation. We read a few bad reviews but the hotel exceeded our expectations. Good food, beautiful beach and good service. We didn’t do star class and still had a wonderful experience.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Perfect Week

The property speaks for itself. Every inch is in great shape, from the beaches to the restaurants. There is an amazing choice of food for every diet. Not a single thing I wouldn’t eat again. But better than all of this was the service. Every single member is genuinely there to help and make connections with all guests. The smiles were real , the kindness was unmatched. Well done to the entire service staff.

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Lovely resort

The food, staff, grounds and facility were all fantastic! I personally found the firm mattress to be hard on my back. The tablet outlining activities was also great, however we didn't get ours until 2-3 days into the visit. This tool is helpful, although changes to the location of the yoga not being reflected on the tablet was frustrating.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Ticks all the resort boxes

Geographically beautiful and natural. Well manicured grounds and gardens. Rooms and facilities very clean. 4 beaches, 3 for swimming with ample lounge chairs and palapas provided. Friendly, helpful staff. Generous availability to booking the a la carte restaurants. Easy access to the bars and servers were constantly available to take drink orders on the beach. The buffet had a huge amount of food choices, none of the main courses offered were repeated during our 7 day stay. The evening shows are [... read more] small scale but entertaining. Highly recommend this resort and looking forward to a return visit.

Riu Playacar: Great resort and atmosphere

We stayed for a week. Facilities are good, beach is beautiful, service above expectations, food is great, entertainment was above expectations ( we are in our 40 and we danced almost every night). The option of using other Riu hotels around added a lot. The only 2 items I would upgrade are the fitness center/Gym - equipment is very limited and outdated. Secondly, more shade option on the beach ⛱️ would be an asset. Overall, we definitely want to come back. Cheers

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Been before; will go again.

We've been to this hotel a few times. Our room was exactly as we hoped; oceanfront 3rd floor. Breakfast good. Love the salsa. Dinners only so so. Used Block 5 adult pool perfect. Staff great. Overall seems a wee bit tired. Would I go back? Yes.

Riu Flamingos: Great Food!

The Riu Jalisco was great! There was an excellent selection of food places and the buffet had pretty much everything - always fresh. There was entertainment every night - sometimes excellent (Michael Jackson) sometimes just so-so. There were 4 elevators and it seemed only one was ever working. But the stairway was bright and accessible. I would not recommend the Puerto Vallarta city tour at all. It was more geared to selling things (shopping, jewelry and tequila), and only saw 2 sites worth  [... read more]mentioning - the church and the malecon. One could just take a bus and go to both places from one stop. There were plenty of chairs at the beach & around the pools. I would definitely return!

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Adult Only Resort ???

18th time at this resort, ( Gran Porto Real - Panama Jacks ) The staff is amazing, the food up & down, no beach anymore. Junior suits are spacious & lovely. Nice size pool, hot jacuzzi, very nice sushi bar & small pool. Two minute walk to 5th ave, shops & restaurants etc. The outside pool bar 11am - 7pm !!! Adult Only Resort ? Decameron La Marina: Not for everyone but… Jen for older people

This is a Mexican vacationing resort so their are lots of nice Mexico. Service was amazing, struggled with employees speaking English and the rooms were nice. Looking for a party area please don’t come here, looking for relaxing low budget vacation come here

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Not a great resort

The staff were all amazing. The food was very low quality and not alwaus warm.. The overall issue we had was the rooms. They are in poor shape and needs much repairing. The bathroom has a huge leak in ceiling and black mold. It start dripping on our second day. Our fridge never got restocked. We always had to ask for water and coffee. It is no where close to a 4 star. The only 4 star would be the staff

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: One of the worst vacation!!!

Aircanada flight delays. Had us waiting in plane while they fix their "safety" issue. Resort was mediocre. Worse customer service ever. Everyone was just looking for tips. Could not find baby milk from 11pm to 6am, had to call room service took 1.5 hours to bring, called front desk they were useless. Half of people dont speak english. Food was nothing special, 3 out of 10. Kids got bored after the first 2 days. Will not recommend this to anyone. Embrassing that this is a Marriott brand

Selection Riviera Cancun: Lies, lies, lies not a 5 star….if you want the worst customer service experience with a rep go to this hotel!!

This hotel is not a 5 star or a 4 star and that saddens me because I feel like the photos are all lies. We just went November 24-27th for a getaway. First off the photos look beautiful but when you get there, there’s broken swimming pool tiles, broken pathways, the smell is gross I mean it’s just gross. We were so excited to arrive but our first night I called asking for an extra blanket it took 3 calls and almost 2 hours later. One of the swimming bars ran out of ice 2 hours after it opened [... read more] making warm drinks at the bar. The beach if you want to call it that is not swimmable at all there’s no beach it’s all seaweed and the water is so dark and cloudy we didn’t want to swim in something we couldn’t see. Definitely not what the pictures showed us!!! They give you a card for beach towels and tell you if you lose the towels you will have to pay $30 usd per towel. Our neighbour watched a worker pick ours up on our chair while we were swimming and leave with them I had to call 2 times explaining and thank god our neighbours seen the worker do that or we would have had to pay $60usd. When towels arrived they were bath towels and I had to re explain fighting for the right ones. Now the best part you get this little note and they say they want to give you a gift for being there they offer massages or private dinners or a two for one on the catamaran. They say in exchange you come for a 90 minute presentation about what they offer and see if you want to before a member. We were only there for 2 more days so they allowed us to go on the catamaran first and the next day come for the presentation. We arrived the following day and I was very upfront with them explaining we were here for the presentation, one of us may have to leave at some point we have a 22 month old with us and cannot predict a baby but she may be ok we don’t know. I explained we were here to listen but we have zero interest in becoming a member we have a wedding coming up and that takes priority. Berniece the rep immediately was like you’re wasting our time and I don’t think this is a good fit you agreed to be here and we want to sell you on the experience. We said “ that was fine we will do the tour but in the end it’s not going to happen for us” she basically walked off talking about us to 2 other colleagues came back and said “ ya we aren’t going to do this you can go the rep who gave you the coupon is going to pay for this this is a waste of time and you work at Toyota so this isn’t a good fit” throwing a fit because we didn’t want a timeshare deal like we came to get away not be hounded we agreed to be there and they didn’t like that we had our foot down. First off clearly she doesn’t know what someone makes at Toyota and I work for the Canadian Government so in a heartbeat we could have bought a membership that was so rude of her to say that without any knowledge of our income!! So if you are looking for poor management who throw tantrums when you don’t want to become a member then by all means go to this hotel! It left a huge sour taste in our mouth and we will never return there ever and word of mouth is powerful and we will tell everyone to stay away after how BERNIECE treated us!!!

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Great Stay at Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta!

We booked a Jr Suite Swim Out Dble Queen Bedroom and it was great! We had We had the Altitude Privilege access and that was great too! We checked in at a separate office / suite / lounge where we could sit down and enjoy some refreshment. We had great service from Josefina at the welcome suite! We could reserve all our diners for the whole week through the Altitude private access service! This is totally worth it. Our room was spacious and had all the amenities of a good resort. The swim out exp [... read more]erience is good too, it's more relaxed and calm so you can wind down for a busy day at the pool and beach! All the restaurants are good! The service was great the whole week: Alejandro at the breakfast buffet, Manuel at the main pool and Cesar for the entertainment! All in all, me and my family had a great time at Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta! Thank you to Sandra Taylor at TripCentral for an outstanding service! I will definitely call Sandra again! :-)

Catalonia Yucatan: A wonderful vacation

Hi everyone, Just got back last night. Here is my review of the resort: We stayed for 7 days on the Yucatan side, no privilege upgrade, just the basic package. With this said, I think this hotel is excellent value for money. The room was older and outdated, but it had a new smart TV and it was very clean. I wish we had brought a Fire stick or Roku to stream shows, because all the channels were in Spanish and I couldn't find the English subtitles. Not the end of the world. The beds were comfor [... read more]table but the pillows were a bit strange and lumpy. That being said, we found the room very comfortable and big points for the HVAC (air conditioner) being very fresh and working well. I am normally very sensitive to any kind of mold in air con units and this one was really clean. Our room was cleaned daily and water was always restocked. We mostly frequented the buffets (El Mercado, La Brisa) and booked the Mexican restaurant one night. The Mexican restaurant was great. I had a salad, which was incredible, and the chicken mole enchiladas (very good though a tad sweet). Overall, both my 7 year old and I really liked the food at the buffet. I enjoyed the fresh fruit, fresh salads, Mexican foods and spicy salsas. I put them on everything. Special shout out to the omelet lady, who has omelet-making down to a fine art! We also frequented the creperie (delicious) and the hotdog stand (usually hotdogs aren't my thing but the all-dressed was good!). The decor in the buffets and restaurants is updated and pretty chic! Temper your expectations around the beach. Its not a typical long stretch of white sand with turquoise water. The beach small and rocky in parts, so bring water shoes. Also bring your snorkel and mask because the water is very calm thanks to the berm separating it from the open water, and there are lots of fish to see! We didn't spend a ton of time at the beach because my son doesn't like the salt water. For having small kids, I think this beach is actually really ideal because there aren't huge waves or rips to worry about (plus the fish are cool). It was nearly impossible to get a beach chair due to people "reserving" them for the day then not bothering to use them for hours on end. Very frustrating and inconsiderate. This happened at the pool too. Guest services tried to address the issue with little success. We spent a lot of time at the main pool on the Yucatan side. We liked it because it was relatively quiet and there were 2 round shallow sections within the pool for kids to play in. It was nice being in a smaller resort because kids could meet and play together while parents chatted. It was so easy to run back to my room to use the washroom or to grab a forgotten item. There were a lot of umbrellas for shade as well (if you managed to snag a chair)! Wifi worked very well throughout the resort. The grounds of the hotel were beautifully landscaped, with palm trees, coconuts, flowering bushes and lots of animals (birds, iguanas, and "Mayan hamsters"). I also noticed that the staff made a good effort to keep the grounds very clean, including the pool. My favourite part of the day was getting up at 6:30, grabbing a coffee from the pool bar, and watching the sun rise over the ocean. Spectacular! The service at the resort was fantastic. From the bellhops who greeted us, to the easy check-in, to the maid service, bartenders and servers - everyone really went out of their way to give good service. I really appreciated how friendly and professional the staff were. I hope this is a sign that management is treating them well. I think that it's important to tip generously and would encourage others to do the same as the staff work very hard. We didn't check out the kids club but saw them on the beach doing activities, which looked nice. We didn't catch much of the entertainment, but we did go to the sports bar to play air hockey and pool (both were free). We watched the Moana show, which was AMAZING! My only comment is that some of the kids programming (including the Moana show), started at 9:30 pm which was way past our bedtime (and why we didn't see much of the entertainment). Another cool thing about this resort is that it's easy to leave and go walk around Puerto Aventuras. Its nice seeing people walking around and kids riding their bikes. It felt safe. The marina area is quite lovely, with some shops and waterfront restaurants. You can swim with dolphins and manatees, or just watch them from the promenade or restaurants while you eat. We also took a private tour and saw the Tulum ruins, swam in a cenote and swam with sea turtles in Akumal. This part of Mexico has so much to offer, so make sure you get out and explore! I think it would be easy to rent a car and tour yourself around if you're comfortable driving on highways. What else can I say? We had a wonderful vacation. This is not a luxury resort, but I'd say it's a solid 4 star, with loads of character, good vibes and great service to round it out. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great Resort ! Family friendly

Had a great family trip & enjoyed the food. Service was also great & no beggars on beach was nice for a change. Overall clean & a variety of activities for kids also. Would definitely recommend it for family or couples. The jacuzzi on the roof of our room was nice upgrade & ocean view.
