Paradisus Rio De Oro: Paradisus Paradise
The public areas in the resort are the best of any resort I've been to - open air with water features and lots of space with sculptures etc. The outdoor grounds are maintained beautifully. The food is excellent with lots of variety. Having an open-air dining room is a big plus - much better than an air conditioned room. The pool and beach dining areas were also excellent. Another big plus is having the pool close to the beach. I like having the rooms in small buildings instead of one large build [... read more]
Playa Costa Verde: 3 star at most
Hotel and grounds okay but the service was very poor. I felt like I was putting people out all the time. Getting a table in the buffet was hard every morning. The food was often under cooked. My room was ground floor. I came with a young child. Room was constantly crawling with bugs perhaps due to dampness. Made it difficult to sleep. I came home early with bites all over my body.
Playa Costa Verde: Fabulous Vacation Resort!!
We just loved this place!! It was our first ever trip to Cuba and had heard many stories about food and resorts falling short on expectations but we were so pleasantly surprised at how great this resort was! The food was excellent and I can't say enough great things about the staff!! Our room was always clean, and everything we needed was there!! There were many other guests there who have returned year after year to vacation here! I would definitely recommend this resort and hope to visit again [... read more]
Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Enjoyed It
Friendly staff and good service including the front desk. Pools are good, beach a bit too busy and rocky in the water. Food was not bad. Always something good to choose. A la carts restaurants also quite good. Entertainment not great. Room was very good.
Brisas Guardalavaca: Great Resort
Nightly entertainment was very good. Food was better than expected(for Cuba). We didn't like the location of our room and had absolutely no problem changing to a more desirable room. Grounds are well kept by numerous garden and maintenance persons. Most staff are able to speak multiple languages. (Fr. Eng. Ger.) Our favorite bar was the Havana Club which is a rooftop bar providing great rum drinks and an amazing view of the hotel grounds and surrounding area. We usually like to visit different p [... read more]
Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: OK for Cuba
This is our second time to Cuba. First time in Holguin. The last time we were in Cuba was in Cayo Coco. We liked Cayo Coco better. The Blau was OK. We wouldn't return again. We went with the Plus package. The food was great and our rooms were good. The Plus pool area was great too. Cuba has been known for their staff to bend over backwards for tourists. We didn't find this at the Blau. We were lucky to get a smile from them. We brought a suitcase full of gifts for the staff and ended up giving 8 [... read more]
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Friendly resort
The grounds and size of the resort were perfect. The service was expectionally friendly and always accomodating! The rooms were comfortable but needs some renovations to be a 5 star resort. The food at the buffet was a bit better than average. There were no themes, therefore pretty much the same choices night after night. The a la carte restaurants are a nice change with great service. The resort beach is small, a lot of coral ( great for those who want to snorkle), needs more attention when the [... read more]
Playa Costa Verde: mucho bien playa
This resort is amazing. From the time you check in to the time you leave everything is great. The staff are always ready to help you in any situation and are always smiling. The rooms are clean and roomy. The food was excellent at the buffet and the a la cart are great, especially the Japanese and Cuban. The pool area is a fun area as Jesus and Marilenus keep things happening. I can't wait to go back!!!
Brisas Covarrubias: Peace and Quiet
This is a nice resort with the most beautiful beach imaginable. It is very isolated with plenty of opportunity for solitude. There is plenty of wildlife in the area if you are a wildlife watcher. Nothing at the resort was ever busy. The rooms are basic but large and clean. If you like excursions, trips, and towns to visit then this is not a good resort to choose. For peace and quiet, long walks on abandoned beaches, and some exposure to nature then this is a good pick.
Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Disappointed
The grounds were clean The workers definitely are over worked. Not enough staff. Not very friendly. Except maybe four workers. Nightly entertainment from what I saw was pretty cool and enjoyable. No toilet paper in common areas. some toilet seats missing. When we checked in about three bus loads. One person to check us in. Over an hour to get into our rooms. The beach was great. Towels were easy to change. Chair man was very helpful, he would drag your chair where u wanted it. Catamaran guys were [... read more]
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Carefree week at the beach at a friendly resort
We have stayed at this place many times over the years, and it gets better (especially the food- now much more colourful vegetables and more variety). Three resorts in one, with a room options ranging from plain to fancy. There are 3 nice pools (2 with swim-up bars), about 10 restaurants/snack bars, high quality daily activities (such as stretching and aqua-fit) and nightly shows, several nice beaches, loaner bicycles and motorbikes for rent, aquatic equipment in good condition (sea kayaks, peda [... read more]
Playa Pesquero: Outstanding Beach
Well executed beach resort with above average room accommodations and expansive variety of buffet and al a carte restaurants. Food superior to other Cuban resorts. Staff friendly and accommodating. Great entertainment shows.
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: good place to stay .. friendly staff
the standart rooms were small , but Villas was amazing , the beech was fantastic .. programs were good .. however food needs improvement and the reception area needs more staff to help the clients ..overall was good ..
Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Worth the money
The Grounds were beautiful, staff were very friendly. The food was ok but the Buffett had the same choice everyday. Not much variety. The rooms were dated and the beds could be larger and softer, very hard mattresses.
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Clean well run property
My wife and I enjoyed our week at Club Amigo Guardalavca, north east Cuba. We were surprised at the line-up for meals. The staff are well trained, friendly and welcoming. It is a safe, happy resort. Give it a try!
Sol Turquesa Beach: It was an ok place
The resort was okay and you could see that tthey were working on improvements especially the service. There are many areas that need structural work done. Workers were great! Always helpful and friendly. the rooms were large and clean. Hot water took awhile to get to the shower so we would just let it run for a bit before getting in. The mini bar was restocked daily with water, pop and beer. reservations for the restaurants were a pain and when you were at the meals half the restaurant would be [... read more]

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Awesome Vacation
We stayed at Club Amigo for the fourth time January 19 - February 2, 2015. We had a marvelous time. We stayed in the barracks where we have noticed many upgrades done since last year lots of fresh paint and the bathrooms have new toilets. We always hot water for showers and maid did a wonderful job keeping our room clean. The food was good, always something to eat. The bungalow section buffet is the best for breakfast, dinner and supper just have to get there early to avoid the linups. The best [... read more]
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: great resort

Don Lino Hotel: The 'REAL' Cuba
Best experience of rural, 'real' Cuba. Ride a free bicycle and interact with the friendly locals [gesture or bring a Spanish translation tool]. Be brave and try the good local cuisine in/out of the hotel. Oceanview bungalows/furnishings are OK.. Hotel only needs to make the 24 hour snack bar a rat free area [saw 4 black rats 1 night, suppose Juanita is the brown rat that hangs around outside the dining hall]
