Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Not the best experience!!

The resort, and the beach were beautiful! The food, not so much. There is not much variety... same food served for lunch & dinner, they do not change up the menu at all!! A la carte restaurants were completely booked up! My husband and I arrived Thursday evening for 1 week, when Sunday rolled around and we went to book our 2 reservations, they were all completely booked until Friday! They were not accommodating at all even though we were there on our honeymoon. No upgrade to the room whatsoe [... read more]ver as it was "booked up" yet we met another couple who came a day after and they were upgraded to a beautiful ocean view. Our room's air conditioning was broken the first couple of days making it hard for us to sleep, they did not want to switch out our rooms. Finally someone came out when I went and complained! The staff are very tip hungry. I overhead a lot of them complaining during lunch and dinner when guests did not leave tips, and a lot of the servers were just miserable! There are a few nice servers which we made it a point to sit in their section daily!! Overall, our experience was not the greatest, will not return to this specific resort and I'm hoping to give Cuba another shot!! Do not go here if you're looking for a full experience by the resort only!! It's also a 2 hour drive from the airport!!!

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Not a 4 star resort

Cuba = great beach and nice people. They need a new management. The room are not ready on time.First day no electricity in the room, and no cold water to take a shower. They fixed the water after 3 days. Costumer services seemed uncaring to complaints, not even an apology for the inconvenience . On the 3rd day 10 people were in the lobby complaining about cold and hot water. Thank you to the cleaning lady Maria and the icecream boy on the beach Maikel

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: PLAYA CAYO SANTA MARIA ❤

We had a lovely time in Cayo Santa Maria. The services and amenities were very good the people were warm and friendly, the room was clean and well kept if a bit worn down it was still very functional. Our patio door didn't lock but that was all that didn't work. The beds were hard but they had fresh clean linens and plenty of towels, even the beach towels were already in the room for us. Lots of water and soft drinks and beer stocked daily in our fridge. The beach was gorgeous with soft white sand and plenty of chairs that they carried to wherever you wanted and cleaned off for you. Placing the towels on for you! Such kind service! The ocean was warmer than the beautiful pools neither were overcrowded. A wonderful week away.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Nice place

The rooms are very nice. The beach has some rocky areas, but there are also two nice sandy stretches. The food is OK at the buffet. Fusion is the best a la carte option. Lot of evening entertainment. The hard rock band was really good. The pool is large and very nice.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Definately recommend this resort

The best part about this resort is the hotel location - so private and the beaches are like no other- sand like flour - such many shades of turquoise blue is the ocean- I ran on the beach every morning - so shallow- you could walk forever. All of the staff at the hotel were very accommodating. What is not to like meals prepared for you - the hotel was immaculate, drink, sleep , lie in the sun - repeat . Roc Lagunas del Mar: Never again!!

Was at this resort Jan 2017. I travel a lot and have been to Cuba six times . But cannot give this resort a good review. It's a new resort but they simply do not have it together for customers at all. Long line up for food and the same food everyday which was very poor. The beach is far rocky and no bathroom near the beach. The resort has poor lighting at night many people fell and hurt themselves on my visit.The only thing I can say are the rooms and bathroom was nice. Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Everything was AMAZING!

The Iberostar resort with all its features and services (buildings, swimming pools, Spa, rooms, tennis court, surroundings, food, entertainment and the politeness and correctitude of the personnel (forgot my belongings twice and found them in good standing) are remarkable. The Ensenachos beach and ocean are surreal! Excellent value for money!

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Just DONT go there

The only good thing I can say about the Warwick is the rooms were nice. Biggest complaint was the service. Worst I have ever seen. Been to Cuba 6 times Next beach was a 200 meter walk small and full of rocks. No washrooms at the beach So dark at night many people hurt . Lines at the Buffet were so long and food ran out and we're not refilled. I could go on and on. JUST FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GO

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Good hotel

The first room we were given the key didn't work so we had to go back and get another. Room was nice though and the bathroom was excellent. housekeeping staff was good and fridge was re-stocked daily. Buffet restaurant and specialty restaurants were only OK. Foof was only so-so and the service was slow. Pool and beach areas were very nice. Lots of young children which surprised us since it wasn't a school holiday in Canada.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Excellent Resort - Fabulous Beaches

Positives: This hotel was excellent. Staff very friendly and the lobby was a fun place to be in the evenings. Entertainment every night in mini theatre was a nice touch with loads of local talent. Tennis courts were brand new and a pleasure to play on. Catamaran outing was very good value and they actually raised the sails! Food was very good - no complaints! The beaches are the best in Cuba - better than Varadero! Negatives: Check in was a chore and could easily be improved. VIP package ($3 [... read more]5 CDN each) for departure was a disaster. (Air Transat needs to investigate... Refreshments were a joke. Seating in lounge was limited. Non VIP people got much better treatment and much better seats on the plane.)

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: The best for Cuba

I am 6th time in Cuba .This is the best for me.Beach is big ,clean ,the people Wonderfull. It is one of the smaller resort that what I liked . The public bathroom was always clean. There was not enough water pressure in room at times,but it was nothing for me to worry. Rooms always very clean and the bar in room always fill in . Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Decent for $800 all in that we spent

This hotel has great potential but a lot of major tweaking is required. The beach towel service or lack there of is horrible. We were there a week and didn't receive our beach towels until two days before we left. We told the front desk, concierge and our transat rep and no one did anything about it we should have received other complimentary services to make up for this. The rooms were ok we had to ask for them to give us new bath towels each day. The food was ok.... We both got sick the last d [... read more]ay of the trip. The beach front is small but the beach is the best thing the hotel has going for it. Staff is friendly the gym is big but had no towel service. The snack bar was ok ..... All in alll for 800 total tax in we thought was worth it but would have been super disappointed if we spent a cent more.

We had a great time the beach was very nice the motel is ok and the staff are awesome. The only draw back is the food not a lot of different and no gluten free section it was not hot unless you got something cook . We did manage to eat something was a little disappointed about the buffet. The restaurant a la carte was good did 3 restaurant.

everything from the food to the staff the rooms where amazing ..................pools, weather ocean was great..housekeeping kept the room. she clean...no garbage laying around..24hr snack bar was good.........

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Wow...Fantastic vacation!

This is the 4th the time to Cuba for my husband and I. We've now been to 3 different resorts and this was the best vacation in that country so far! The beach was beautiful, the food at the buffet and a la cartes very good, the resort and accommodations clean and the staff very friendly. It is not a 5 star resort, mainly because of a small few details. If you can overlook that, it is a strong 4.5. We would definitely return!

Melia Las Dunas: Big resort, great staff

Clean resort and helpful staff. This property had 2 sections,one for family and one adults only. I found the place much to big for my liking. You notice how many people at dinner time. I knew it was a large property when booking. food was fine, room was comfortable. Beach is lovely but too crowded for my liking, this is an ideal property for families and large groups. I enjoy the Melia properties, but will not be returning to this one.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Still Decent resort

The week of Jan 26, 2017 was our second time at the Iberostar Ensenachos. Our party of 2 adults, 2 seniors, and 2 kids stayed in two communal rooms by the kids friendly pool. We were very happy with our first stay at the hotel because there is always a lot to do for everyone...the white powdered sand, chystal clear waters, the complementary tennis, non motorized boats, archery, and air gun, evening shows, kids club activities keep you very busy and entertained. Also, food and selection is dec [... read more]ent. We are puzzled with the discrepancys at the hotel this stay...the tap in one of one room was running and will not return off. Requests for repair at the front desk and with our Air Canada rep were ignored. Room service never delivered our food on one occassion with no follow up. They "ran out" of ones at the bank for 6 out of our 7 day stay so we could not convert our money to tip the staff. Finally, on our previous stay guest were not allowed to save beach chairs just by placing towels on them but not actually being at the beach for hours. As a result, the beach was mostly empty but there was no place to sit for those actually at the beach! Although these things were annoying and disappointing...The Iberostar at Santa Marie would be the only resort we would go to when travelling to Cuba and we have been to Cayo Coco, Varadero, and Havana

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: This could be an excellent resort.

The grounds and the general lay out of this resort is better then most. The staff try their best to provide excellent service and if you like a piano bar this the resort for you. The food is average and the bar service good to very good-the bar in the lobby is the best. The resort is older and has some problems. In our first room the toilet leaked resulting in a wet floor which was not fixed so we were given another room which did not have hot water. The staff tried to fix the problem but were  [... read more]not successful. Our daughter in a room near by experienced no problems with her room. The rooms were always clean as was the resort but most of the public toilets had problems like no seats or locks on the doors. This resort needs upgrading and if this is accomplished we would consider returning. We do not recommend this resort at this time.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Awesome beach, so-so hotel

I wouldn't give this hotel more than 3 stars. There was a bunch of annoyances that added up. Rooms were ok, but service was inconsistent. I had to remind the maid to empty trash and change towels on a couple of occasions. The floor wasn't always properly cleaned. I'd complain less if I wasn't tipping, but i was, leaving 2.5 pesos per room (we had 2) every day. We had rooms side by side and there was a playpen for our toddler just as we requested. However, one of our rooms (#4023) was next to cen [... read more]tral ac unit for the building. The ac unit was right behind the wall and was extremely irritatingly noisy. We could even hear it in the other room. We should have requested a different room right away. Our bad that we didn't. 3 days later my mom who stayed in that room could no longer sleep at night. At that point we did request a room change and got a different room a day later. I suspect the management knows about ac noise but is unable or unwilling to resolve the issue. They said they'll send someone to check the ac but we didn't see any change. Again, this was central ac, not the in room ac. The ac kept loudly whirring in the next 3 days, we just didn't care anymore as we were further away from it at that point. On one occasion the room fridges weren't refilled. We did completely empty them on that day, but that shouldn't matter. After a complaint at the from desk the fridges were refilled on that night while we were away for supper. Buffet restaurant wasn't bad. We were able to find food to our liking and were mostly satisfied with it. A la carte restaurants are overrated by some reviewers. Don't go. I'd take buffer any day over a la carte. Mediterranean was comparable to buffet. Italian - food was nothing special, i expected more out of Italian. Service was good, the guys tried. They don't seem to be toddler friendly though, no chairs for little children. We felt hungry after Italian and went to buffet. Asian - absolutely horrible!! Or perhaps i'm spoiled by Vancouver's fine Asian restaurants. Don't go there if you never tried Asian cuisine or you may decide that all Asian cuisine is just like that and hate it for the rest of your life. Sushi - what a joke, 3 tiny pieces (not 3 rolls) with rice in them tasting very wrong and having wrong texture. That probably wasn't even sushi rice. Tempura - bad. Fried rice and shrimp were kind of ok. Dessert - we didn't stay long enough to try it. We saw 2 cockroaches in front of us on the table and left. The cockroaches were the last straw. Headed to the buffet of course. There are so many smokers everywhere. The restaurants seem to be the only non-smoking areas. Family pool is surrounded by smokers. It's unpleasant to go there with kids. Some old smoking jerks are very inconsiderate to families with children. Well, that's not a hotel's problem, but having 2 very long beaches the hotel could probably allocate some portion of them as a non-smoking area. So one day 2 couples in their sixties moved into a spot on the beach next to us. They started smoking in turns making seemingly very intentional puffs of smoke in our direction. What jerks. 4 of them were going one after the other in turns non-stop. I understand we are not the most nicest neighbors ourselves with 3 sometimes noisy kids. Well, we at least don't make the noise intentionally and we try to calm children down if they go too far. Anyways, we lasted about an hour and then just moved further on the beach. Another family with children nearby stayed but they were a few meters further from the smoke, perhaps it didn't bother them that much. Now comes the best part - the beach. We stayed on Ensenachos beach all the time and we loved it. It's awesome. We were lucky to have very good waves on the first day (due to the storm on the day before). The rest of the time the ocean was calm and crystal clear. You can snorkel on the east side of the beach so bring your snorkeling gear. Beware of the jelly fish. They are tiny and there aren't many of them but they do sting if you happen to touch them. We saw a crab hiding in the sand, a couple of pelicans over the beach, 2 iguanas and a hermit crab in the bushes near the bar at Ensenachos. Make sure to bring enough sunscreen as the hotel store doesn't have any. Fortunately we brought enough. We spend most of our time on the beach and overall we liked our vacation much (because of the beach). The hotel doesn't really meet its 4.5-5 star rating though.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Beautiful, picturesque - but not perfect.

This review had many, many positives. A variety of activities (a relaxing section, and a rowdy section - fun entertainment), great staff who we're dedicated to making you feel at home, a great selection of drinks, and most importantly, one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The only criticisms I have about Valentin are the beds (which are rock hard) and the food (I am a vegetarian and I don't feel there were enough options, and the overall quality of food was not great).
