I think this is one if the best resorts I have stayed at in cayo coco. The rooms were spacious and clean the beaches were amazing however there could be more beach chairs available as well as at the pool. We had to buy beach chsirs one dsy on the beach.l the food in the buffets we're good but the same Foods each night . however the 24-hour snack bar could use some improvements a lot of the time we went there the service was extremely slow and there was no food available. Melia Jardines del Rey: March Break 2018
The grounds are well maintained- gardners are very friendly!
Bar tenders always willing to make you something delicious to drink!
Waiters/waitresses at buffet- very welcoming!
toilet pressure, shower pressure.... not so great- but hey- its Cuba
ala carte restaurants- not so great
Japanese restaurant- is so worth the extra cost!!!!
beach is great- can walk for miles
- need to get out early to get loungers at pool and beach- but this could be just because it was Break time- but unfortu[... read more]nately people seem to think they need to grab chairs at both the beach and at the pool and they sit empty for half a day
My only request for the resort is to have an adult pool- especially for March Break!!!

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Good Resort
This resort is relatively new so the decor and layout is very nice. The grounds are well kept with beautiful gardens - overall very nice aesthetic.
Staff were very nice too and the entertainment was good. Where the resort could improve was around efficiency in their processes. The check in experience was horrible. There was no line just a crowd at the counter....it felt like when you are ordering a drink at a very busy bar. When we finally got to check in we had to fill out a very long[... read more] form with information I would have thought the resort already had...things like our names and addresses etc... The whole experience took over an hour. Since we were the last family to check in and it was late - after 11pm the bell boys were gone. We had to carry our luggage through the resort in the dark to find our bungalow. Terrible first impression. The other real area of weakness is in their a la carts. They have 2 good options one was Gourmet and the other was a Japanese restaurant. Then they have also set up a "room" that they claim houses 2 other a la carts. It alternates between Mediterranean and a steakhouse those were horrible. Both nights they didn't have most of what was on the menu. What was available was really sub-par. We would have been better served eating at the buffet. We were able to get reservations at Gourmet and it was very good. On balance the surroundings are beautiful but some of the basic services need improvement.

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Adults only resort
I spent a week at this resort over March Break. It is lovely and clean. I really enjoyed the quietness of no spring breakers. No loud music around the pool or blasting tunes from a disco til all hours of the morning. Nice selection of restaurants and food choices. Beautiful top notch beach. Lots of chairs and palapas. But most of all I LOVE THE CUBAN PEOPLE! Beautiful, friendly, helpful. Such a treat. I would return tomorrow if I could. Xo

Melia Cayo Coco: A nice week at the Melia
We spent a week at the Melia Cayo Coco from Mar 10-16. Arrival and check-in went very smoothly. We exchanged our Canadian $ to CUCs at the reception desk.
We had emailed a few weeks prior to request a second floor room close to the beach. To our delight, our room request was granted. We had a lovely view of the beach from our front door.
ROOM: The ‘classic’ room was very large and spacious. We enjoyed the amenities in the room. A bit disappointed with the shower and tub as it was not ren[... read more]ovated. The water temperature and pressure is great. The tile and tub were clean, but it was dated and in need of repair/renovation.
STAFF: As stated by so many previous reviewers, the staff is fantastic. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. As an example, we mistakenly forgot our snorkeling gear on the beach. It took only a short time for the staff to locate it with the assistance of beach security. We were very grateful for their help.
BEACH: We are beach people, we do not go to the pool. The beach is beautiful. It is quiet and relaxing. Staff will help you locate lounge chairs. We did not have any issues finding a spot. The beach is not full of people and loud music like other resorts we have been to in the past. We appreciated that change. We are younger than the crowd at this resort, but we wanted a peaceful experience. The turquoise water and white sand made for one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve been to. It was windy on 5 of our 7 days, but that did not stop us from enjoying the water. The beach is long and wide and great for long walks.
We took advantage of the included Hobbie Cat ride. Loved it. We also paid $15 cuc for the hobbie cat ride to the reef for snorkeling.
FOOD: My husband enjoyed the food a bit more than me. We preferred the buffet over the a la carte restaurants. The a la carte restaurants have a lovely atmosphere and the staff ensure a positive experience. The food was just not to our taste. The beach bar has a great atmosphere and we really enjoyed the Cuban band during lunch.
As the week progressed we could see the reason people return to the Melia. It has a quaint and comfortable feeling. Staff is very attentive and want you to enjoy your time.
Our priority is to spend time on the beach and we definitely were able to do that at this resort.
Other than the shower (and some of the food), we had a very positive week at the Melia Cayo Coco.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: awesome vacation
We spent a week at this beaufiful resort the first week of March 2018. It was the first time we visited this resort and we will be back next year. The resort is beautiful and the Cubans need to be congratulated on the work they have done to restore this area after the hurricane of 2017.
The food was very good....we have been to Cuba resorts 13 times previously, so know what to expect of the food. The buffet had a huge variety of food, and the fresh fish was delicious and not to be missed. D[... read more]on't miss the smoothies at breakfast !!!
The beach is amazing with plenty of cover for those who love shade. We love snorkelling, and found some fish off the beach, however, taking a Hobie Cat out to the large reef is the best thing to do. There were 4 of us on the "Cat" and we went out with 2 other boats......beautiful reef and amazing fish to be seen.
We purchased the "Diamond Club" and it was well worth it.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Great place to stay
This was our 8th trip to the Colonial but we've been away for 6 years. The damage from Hurricane Irma was very sad to see as many of the stately palms were destroyed but the repairs are moving quickly to the resort. The beach has been transformed to an amazing place probably a 100 feet wide if not more. As always we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff and many old faces which made us feel at home right away. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great family fun with awesome beach and animation staff
Memories Flamenco Cayo Coco is a fun resort that is dedicated to service and ensuring everyone has a good time.
The grounds are well maintained and the beach superb. The pools were larger than expected and my kids spent all day there enjoying meeting other kids, playing crazy games put on by the animation staff and watching all the other fun activities planned. The kids loved the mini disco each night and spent an hour each day in the kids club playing pool.
As an adult that loves to [... read more]dance and practice my Spanish, I enjoyed Zumba everyday at the pool, and chatting with all the bartenders and animation staff.
The theatre shows were entertaining and the professional dancers were very good, though the show started too late at 930 and they could have removed the pre-show to start the real show earlier.
Best bartenders at the pool bar were Aris and Orlando. Daily at the small poolside mojito bar made killer mojitos. At night, Yoel made yummy Spanish coffees at his coffee cart.
The food and drinks were decent for Cuba. We ate in the buffet every meal but appreciated the grill bar at the pool for lunch bites.
Only cons is that the rooms are dated and the bathtub was slippery. We had to request extra small beds for the kids a couple times before they arrived. Also, in order to get pool or beach chairs you have to be up and reserve them before 730 am which is annoying on vacation. There are chair guys that will help bring chairs from other places (if they are still available of course).

Hotel Camino del Mar: Great resort, perfect weather 😀
Everything was to our satisfaction. Considering the latest hurricane great efforts was done to restore the premises and the grounds.
One concern I had and would suggest to review the check-out policy for those guests who leave the grounds after 6:00pm

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: excellent resort
The resort was amaizing , the grounds were not finished but we could see workers planting trees, flowers and doing maintenance. The room that was assigned to us was beautiful, ground level as per our request for a accessible unit, spacious room for a wheelchair to maneuver, the food was the best I have ever seen or tasted in Cuba. The sea food a la cart restaurant was amaizing with grilled lobster and fresh fish and we could reserve it as many times as we wanted. We also tried the Italian and th[... read more]e international restaurants and they were both good. The theatre was not opened as they were still working on it therefore the entertainment was outside however they still need to improve on it.The bars need to improve in making and mixing drinks, the front desk was very helpfull with any issues. The staff were very good and polite. I would rate this resort as a 4.5 stars.

Hotel Mojito: Nice Beach!
The staff were, almost without exception, very friendly and helpful. The beach itself is excellent even if the chairs are not particularly comfortable. Certainly can't complain about the sun and the weather! That said, it would be very helpful if there was signage in the buffet, many of the items were very difficult to identify and if I don't know what it is, I don't want to eat it. Same with salad dressings, we shouldn't have to taste each one to figure them out. Is it milk or is it yogurt[... read more] was a question we asked ourselves several times. The chairs in the lobby need replacing - most are sagging. Some sort of instruction package in the rooms would be helpful - list of relevant extensions, how to adjust a/c etc.. Given the vast majority of guests are Canadian, why have CNN and ESPN as TV channels? Why not CBC or CTV news channels and TSN for sports? Cayo Coco is very isolated from mainland Cuba and there is little to do beyond a few basic excursions, bicycle rentals would have been great, info on kayak, paddle boat and sailboat rentals should be in the rooms. Why isn't the gym open? Would be nice to have enough light in the rooms so that we could read. If I did recommend this resort to anyone, I would suggest a maximum stay of no more than 1 week!

Melia Cayo Coco: Exceeded Expectations!
From the moment we arrived at Melia Caya Coco, we were impressed. Welcomed warmly, even though past midnight, and for the duration of the trip, service was remarkable. Staff is very helpful and friendly and willing to please. We had a few minor issues which were resolved very quickly and followed up by Yunismy, our most wonderful Customer Service resort staff.
The rooms were very clean and some have newly renovated bathrooms---everything was lovely despite the damage done by the hurricane [... read more]last Fall. We enjoyed days at the beach and/or pool and usually did not have trouble finding chairs or pool huts. We did notice that several non-resort visitors enjoyed the resort as Melia allows you to visit all other Melia resorts. This sometimes led to more trouble finding chairs and made for larger crowds at the buffet.
Buffet was good to very good, again exceeding expectations we had based on past visits to Cuba. The servers were delightful and went out of their way to offer drinks, special coffees and a good table. Food, water and drinks were safe and well prepared. A la carte restaurants were just ok--the Cuban Grill was the best. No issues about reserving day of.
Of note is the AMAZING talent at all shows--we didn't miss any as they were so well done, professional. The lobby bar was an excellent place to meet for shows and have coffee (double espresso cappucino recommended!) or drinks (wine is ok, no premium alcohol/liquers available but cervaza was good and cold!)/ You can buy well known brand bottles of wine at the bar for 6-8 CAD!
Overall, excellent week in Cuba--beach is one of the most beautiful in the world with great swimming. And only 15 minutes from the airport! We will be back!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing Stay at a Spectacular Resort
When looking for a location to vacation I read the reviews and look at the pictures provided on the site. I can assure you the pictures posted for this site are accurate. This resort is exactly how it looks online. I can't say enough good things about this resort; the staff are eager to please and make sure that you are taken care of. The evening entertainment was spectacular and the fact that everything is held in the main lounge area makes it easy for guests to know and see what is happening on any given evening. The beach is spectacular and the daytime dance lessens on the beach make for a very entertaining day. The pool areas are amazing with plenty of seats available and a swim up bar. Lots of activities during the day at both pool areas. The pool staff are extraordinary in that they are ready and available to assist in anyway possible. I would go back to this resort next week if only I didn't have to work. The daily buffet was excellent and gave you a variety of selections at every meal. The al carte restaurants are spectacular.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Outstanding resort
The hotel was immaulate, the service was outstanding, from the bartenders to the servers in the buffet and front desk, everyone could not do enough for you, constantly asking if everything is ok. Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Awesome
Just returned from 10 days at the Grand Muthu Guillermo in Cuba. The resort and staff were awesome. There are quite a few English speaking staff which was very helpful. We were three women in our 60’s and could not of had more fun. The entertainment staff especially the twins llian and llien ( spelling is wrong I think) and Jordan were great. They all spoke English sometimes it was “complicated†as they said a lot. The pool bartenders were very good at making sure we always had a drink i[... read more]f we wanted. One of the bartenders Oscar called us flowers and made each of us a necklace. The food was very good at the buffet as well as the 4 a la carte restaurants. At breakfast there was an omelette bar, crepes, waffles, smoothies, everything you could want. On Tuesday there is a fabulous rock band that plays at the pool in the late afternoon and in the evening. We also saw an aquatic show that was wonderful. The lobby bar makes a great Spanish coffee I will definitely return to this resort We met so many wonderful people both staff and other guests. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the trip
