Overall everything was great and we were impressed with the resort overall. The service was the only thing we weren't thrilled with. It felt like they were always short staffed. But had a great time regaurdless! We would go back for sure.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: The resort was better than expected
We liked meeting the staff they were very friendly and helpful. They treated us like family. The grounds were well kept with manicured gardens and a jungle like feel backdrop. The food was ok lots to choose in the buffet, the El Colonial a la carte was a 5 star restaurant. The beach is everything and more then what is described on their website. 2 weeks was not long enough... can't wait to return.

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Entertainment fabulous!
Very good overall. The entertainment was fabulous and lots of variety. More toilets could have been working in lobby area. There were enough toilets but the staff said they were broken (for the two weeks we were there). Also a few more toilet seats would have been nice. The service at the snack bar near the relaxing pool could be improved. The beach area could be cleaned up in one section. Must have been a storm before we arrived. The pools were well maintained and the grounds beautiful.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: A quiet getaway with all the perks!
We booked this resort on a Monday and left on a Wednesday. We went on the price, adult only, and the area of Cuba.
We arrived after a direct flight with Sun Wing and a 90 minute bus ride from the airport in Santa Clara to the Santa Maria resort area.
We had two personal butlers with a champagne greeting and a cart to the bungalow.
This part of the Grand Memories is under restoration and only 2 bungalows were completed. This did not detour us from booking, as we knew this beforehand.
It[... read more] was very private and very quiet and all the employees looked after our every need!
There is a restaurant called the International that serves a breakfast buffet, omelettes and pancakes cooked for your request. There is fresh orange juice, fruit and pastries. The coffee is Americano or you can request a Cappuccino or coffee of your choice from the bar outside of the restaurant through your server.
The beach is absolutely beautiful with crystal blue water with 7 shades of blue.
There will be someone who will get you your chair under a requested palapa where there is sufficient shade or sun. There is also a grill and bar on the beach where someone will come and take your order. You can also go to the buffet or pool bar for food and drink. The closest washrooms are near the restaurant or pool.
You can walk for miles on the beach. There are catamarans, paddleboats and kayaks for you use at the next resort, Grand Memories at your access.
The International restaurant on the resort is very private and only for the Sanctuary guests where they serve steak and chicken one night and fish, lobster the next night. The servers are very good and willing to get anything that is within their reach in the kitchen. Wine is Chilean and very good.
They serve pizza and other items after 10 p.m.
The entertainment is good with live music in the restaurant until 9:30 with the live show near the pool beginning shortly after until 10 p.m. You can go to the next resort if you want a bigger or longer show at the Grand Memories. There are also bars and other restaurants in that area, too. Your butler can make your reservations at those restaurants, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean.
Money can be exchanged at the bank at the Grand Memories resort at their bank, but employees will accept Canadian and American money for tips. They do expect a tip, but it is always appreciated and their money in CUC is good to have.
There were a few minor issues, but all were resolved quickly and efficiently.
A great value for all those perks! Where else can you go where you get your own personal butler on a daily basis who look after all your needs?
I would highly recommend this resort for anyone who wants a quiet getaway for a week, who loves the beach and an appreciation for a week without a cell and a good book!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Not so Perla after all
Beach is great however drinks at the beach no good at all. Food was ok, Service slow; avoid Snackbars unless you don't mind waiting an hour just to get a burger. Washrooms throughout the site dirty and not well kept.
No beach towel change for a week and days without fresh towels in room. Rooms near pool really noisy from 9AM until 6PM. Cute walkway to the beach, Nice tennis courts with friendly trainer.
drinks at the main bar lobby not so good too, try smaller bar next to Privilege lounge tha[... read more]t offers best drinks with friendly staff.
Bring Can.or US $$ or get Pesos from the airport since line up at the bank lobby will take you many hours for exchange of currency. Also book VIP lounge package at the airport for the return...worth the price.
will not return to this resort.

Melia Las Dunas: Second time to melia las dunas
My husband and I were married at the melia las dunas in 2016- we returned for our official honeymoon January 2017- some changes within the last year - but all around great vacation. The guest service management is in zero hurry to help you - we had no air conditioning or hot water for the majority of our week- but we couldn't let that ruin our stay. We let it go and went on with our vacation- no more Antipasta at the itialia restaurant- we were in and out in 27 minutes! - not the same experie[... read more]nce as last year- buffet and the 24 hour snack bar are the best! Staff are super friendly and welcoming - not pushy. The beach is still as beautiful as ever! The activity pool always has great music playing near the swim up bar- never went over to the adult pool- too quiet fo is but if that's what you're looking for it's perfect
Thanks again for a great vacation !

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Wonderful family stay at Iberostar Ensenachos!
This was my 6th visit to Cuba and first time on the Cayo Santa Maria coast. We travelled with a 4 year old and my parents for my mom's 50th birthday. I will start with the outstanding features that were an immediate hit with my family - ensenachos beach, which was much better than the closer Megano. A picturesque walk through the hotel grounds can be conveniently replaced with a golf cart ride from the lobby. You can even dial for a cart from the hotel room. As everytime and everywhere in Cuba t[... read more]he crystal clear waters were the best part. This beach boasts beautiful fish for those who like some snorkeling. The hotel itself was spacious with a balcony that can easily fit 10 people, a dressing room separate from the main sleeping room and a spacious bathroom with a stand alone shower. The grounds of the resort were massive. I won't lie we were lost the first night, and tired of walking some days. But again, a golf cart as at your service. My parents love the chance to walk through spectacularly kept landscapes of this resort. The food had variety every day and plenty of options. The people friendly and welcoming as always and, even though we didn't visit the pool area often, my daughter loved the water park and the kids club. The hotel also features a full indoor theatre for evening entertaining which helps avoid mosquitoes at night.
My only complaint was the Cuban a la carte restaurant and the service we got there waa terrible. I've never experienced anything so bad in Cyba before where we had to leave half way through the dinner because the server wouldn't even refill our drinks.
Overall, a wonderful stay and can't wait to go back!

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: So relaxing
It is quite resort which we really loved about. All the personnel who works there was so accommodating and friendly. The room that we have is great! We can't ask for more.
Maybe the only downside of the resort is that the Wifi is too slow, but for us it doesn't matter because we go there to escape from The city and to have fun and enjoy the ocean

Valentin Perla Blanca: Save your Money and go elsewhere!
Pro:.
- The food was surprisingly decent, and the beach was very nice.
- beautiful weather
- We played tennis a lot, and the coach was pretty good.
Cons:
- The room service was pretty bad. sometimes, they were knocking on our door at 4 pm while we were asleep. No water bottles given to refill our fridge , no clean towels (We literally had to ask).
- A lot of Noise every afternoon, since our room was near the main pool. (Although we paid for an ocean front room), the main pool is pretty [... read more]much at the center of the complex....
- The snack bar near the pool was extremely slow to serve the food. we had to wait one hour sometimes....(Really)... to receive our order. This is unacceptable.
- Most of the lounge chairs around the pool and the beach are broken/Damaged. Good luck for your back guys...
- Most of the time during our stay, we couldn't get a clean towel at the pool.
- No WiFi/internet in the room. You can have internet access in the main lobby, and you need to pay 2 pesos for one hour....yep
- To change our Canadian dollars into Pesos is a nightmare (the bank at the lobby was not available all the time.)
- No toilet papers, no hand soap in the toilets............Really......
In resume, we enjoy our stay in this hotel as much as we could my girlfriend and I....We will never come back.
Sometimes it is better to pay a bit more and enjoy your vacations. It is totally worth it

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Nice Resort
This is a very large resort and although very nice, doesn't seem to be able to keep up with maintenance issues. Some of the public bathrooms were without toilet seats, door locks, lacking in toilet paper and hand soap and broken faucets. Our room was very nice and was adequately cleaned. We were in the Privilege section and after several days of trying to get clean beach towels learned that we should leave them in our room and the maid would change them however, she took the wet towels off th[... read more]e floor and hung them over the room chairs. Very unprofessional. We had beach towels the day we arrived and found the beach towel area opened once during our week there. We had requested a king bed but ended up with two beds pushed together so not overly comfortable. The food was fine to good and being Cuba, often the restaurants would run out of items (bread one day, French fries one day, shrimp, etc.). Of the privilege package inclusions we didn't receive a refreshing towel on arrival, no "petits fours" in our room, no exclusive invitation to a Managers Cocktail and no assigned area at the main buffet. The beaches were beautiful, the pools looked great, staff was mostly friendly. I would not likely recommend this hotel to seniors because it is such a large resort and a lot of walking.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Excellent Vacation !!!
This hotel is very nice.. The rooms are clean and modern housekeeping is excellent.. The pools are spotless and the water shimmers, it's a little on the cool side but you soon get accustomed to it . After all it is their Winter season.. We only went to the Italian ala carte but it was excellent the waiter Michel was so funny.. Only drawback in my opinion is too far from the airport (2 hours).. I give it 4 1/2 stars..... PS amazing beach!!!!!

This hotel is very nice for a Cuban resort. Clean service is good very nice pool set up always a chair available.would recommend this resort to anyone. The beach and beach by block 7 is the best and the best service by wonderful guys . Thanks Michal your a great bartender and server made the stay great
Great beach area resort was good. Food was good staff was wonderful. Daya from buffet was very nice the bartenders in privileged bar albertico and edwardo super nice guys. There were some problems during our stay beach towels we had to jump through hoops to get some and some of the privileged sections staff let non privileged in. One day our room wasn't done the maid was off but over all I would go back. Main pool area can get loud so if you want quite go to the other side of resort. Public toil[... read more]ets most don't lock some don't have seats or are broken. If your a late night person the disco bar opens after the shows are over. It's loud but a good time. A lot of people said the beach is smaller now it had a lot of erosion and resort is showing signs it needs repairs but no problems getting chairs or a spot on beach.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great Getaway
We had a wonderful time at the Ocean Casa Del Mar. This was a new resort so you could tell there were some minor hiccups to work out but nothing anyone couldn't look past. I did find that I noticed the language barrier more than I normally do in Cuba but with travelling to a different country you can't assume everyone will speak some English. The scheduling of the snack bars was never consistent but there was always food somewhere. The pool toilets often ran out of toilet paper and one of them n[... read more]ever had the lights on but with a couple drinks you don't care much about things like lights! The rooms were beautiful and well maintained. The beach was gorgeous and although it was a little small there were plenty of chairs and room for everyone. Yuni at the pool bar was a wonderful bartender and made sure everyone was always having fun. Defiantly the most personality on the whole resort. My only main complaint was the night life was short lived. They were only allowed to play music in the main bar until 11pm and that was when a lot of people were just getting in the mood. I understood there was noise restrictions but in a resort that big there should be a place for people to dance if they'd like to. I've had a few people ask for reviews on this resort as they'd were looking into travelling here and I've give a great review both times!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Nice resort
This hotel is lovely. We found the rooms clean and the beds comfortable and clean. The staff are very friendly. The beach is lovely. The pools are lovely. The lounging chairs at the pool are new and comfortable. The shows put on in the evening were professionally done and the dancers incredible especially for the show called "Romantico". We were disappointed that there was no place for guests themselves to take part in Latin dancing in the evening. Cuba is known for its salsa and there was no w[... read more]here to enjoy this kind of dancing. There was a live band in the main lobby some evenings but they were crowded into a corner. It would be nice if they were given more space with a dance area in front of them. That would encourage tourists to dance. Maybe the dancing in the lobby could be initiated by some of the staff inviting the tourists to dance. Why not?? The food was so so. After the second day at the buffet it became repetitive. I would suggest that the mayonaises at the buffet be kept cold with ice or refrigerated. I got some stomach upset after having salads at lunch and I am sure it was from contaminated mayonnaise. It should never be left out at buffets in big uncooled or unrefrigerated especially all day. This is so important for health reasons. I would also suggest that the buffet area find a better way to make the ice cream scoops available. There is only one at the ice cream area of the buffet and often the water it sits in is full of melted ice cream and the the bowl is too large resulting in the scoop falling into the melted ice cream water. Make more than one scoop available and try to find a better container to hold the scoops. We found the food at the separate restaurants terrible. The beef at the International restaurant was so tough I could not cut it. I did not eat more than a half mouthful. Similarly the lasagna at the Italian restaurant was mushy and lacked flavour. So if you are coming to this hotel for good food you will be disappointed. But as I said the resort itself is very nice and the beach is beautiful. I would recommend this resort to a friend with the provisos I have stated.
