Melia Marina Varadero: Great place

Really enjoyed our stay there. We traveled together with my 27 y.o. daughter and had a great time. The room and resort were clean, staff very pleasant and helpful, the food was good. I know that people say that you don't go to Cuba for food, but our restaurants and buffet were actually pretty decent. The only thing that we were not happy about was the snack bar at the pool. Only once we were able to have pizza there which was very good. So, we decided to have it again the next day. Well, first t [... read more]hey told us that "Four Seasons" pizza wasn't available. In this case, we ordered Margarita pizza, poutine and cheese sticks. We waited for almost an hour to be told that neither Margarita pizza or cheese sticks were not available. Seriously? you didn't know about that an hour ago? Hamburgers were just served to the table near us and we asked for the same. Guess what? Not available!!! at this time I started to wonder if it was us that they didn't want to serve any food? But we were still sitting at our table, having a drink and waiting for the poutine. At least. And then the poutine arrived. I am not a difficult person and enjoy simple things in life, but I was offended by what was put in front of us on the table. Little plate with maybe 15 french fries, a slice of "singles" cheese on top and nothing else. not even a drop of any kind of sauce, although the menu said there is some "special" sauce. For that we waited an hour!! Next day we decided to give it another try, thinking they just had an off day.. Well.. again, they didn't have pizza because the cheese wasn't delivered. On our last day, we just stopped there for a drink, didn't want to try our luck with food anymore. I wanted to order a bloody mary. A simple cocktail that was on their menu. Correct. They didn't have the ingredients.. That's the only place in the entire resort that was disappointing. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay there.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Horrible

I've been to Cuba many times and this time was not amazing. I've stayed at 3,4 and 5 stars. Started off with NO towels in the room. Then I thought ahh forget it; it's late so I'll get them tomorrow and I'm on vacation. Let's have a drink. We go down and the bar that is supposed to open till 1:30am closed at 12??? The snack bar had no more drinks for the night??? This is NOT a four star at all

Melia Las Americas: A resort with a lot going for it!

My wife and I returned home May 13 after a one-week stay. Had a very good time, no major concerns. The hotel lobby is a showpiece with beautiful floor tiles and complementary décor, lots of comfortable, attractive seating, classy piano bar, spacious. Walk straight through the lobby and you can head for the beach or hang out with the card, backgammon, and chat enthusiasts on the covered patio. Golf course to your left, pools, restaurants, theatre to you right. Our room was a notch below [... read more] the lobby standard but clean and comfortable, all fixtures worked. Huge balcony, (larger than the room), with small table and chairs. The refrigerator was re-filled with soda, beer, and water every day, no fuss. Housekeeping and maintenance staff we met were all pleasant and helpful. Really enjoyed the pools. The larger pool at its maximum width is . almost 50 meters so you can get a nice workout with a few lengths if so inclined. This pool has a "bubbler" insert which provides a great lower back massage. There also are two jacuzzi tubs. We had a delicious dinner at the Italian restaurant which has funky décor and shouldn't be missed. We both had the Greek salad, my wife had fish and I had the 4-topping thin-crust pizza. It was all good! The buffet food is hit-and-miss. Some items are bland, some cold, some over-cooked, some under-cooked etc., and dinner rolls and muffins are sometimes stale. But there's lots of good stuff - - just try small portions the first day or two until you find things you like. Also, the sliced cheeses and sliced meats are very tasty so you can always make yourself a nice sandwich! The beach is great, very wide and very clean. Water is clean, warm, shallow so you can comfortably go in and splash around or just cool off. All in all, we had a good time at Las Americas and would recommend it for quality and value.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great experience!

Staff were amazing and friendly as could be, no complaints about the room at all, not 5-star but it was clean amd the bed was very comfortable. The quiet pool was just outside our patio door and we were out there pretty much every day, very nice pool. Great lobby, the servers were wonderful when bringing drinks, i need more cappucino! Food was excellent quality with great selection to choose from no matter what your tastes. Overall an awesome experience and we're going back to Azul again in D [... read more]ecember.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Amazing Resort

The grounds are beautiful and very well kept, lobby area is a great size and lots of room, dinning room beautiful and to eat outside is breathtaking. Large pool with lots is chairs and most of all the BEST beach in the world!!!!

Sol Palmeras: Amazing Potential

Staff were amazing (only exception was the store clerk and ala carte reservation staff) The check in process was slow, which was disappointing at 130am. Check Out was much faster. I wish there was AC in the lobby. Much needed at times. There was a bit of a smell in the lobby and in the rooms. Something we have experienced at other Tropical Destinations, but could be avoidable to create a better experience. Beach was beautiful. Pools were fine. Bars were great. Only ate at 2 Ala Cartes (Mexi [... read more]can and Brazil) Both were great. Rooms do need a bit if work (grout, etc...) Maids did a good job, but rooms could probably use a major clean. We chose this hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews and ratings, and with a bit of work...this hotel could be Amazing. Also wish there was refreshments in the room fridge, just warm water. No pop or beer....something offered at other all inclusives we have stayed at. Entertainment was decent, wish there was an outdoor show. There was a beach party advertised on Friday...we thought it was at the beach...but it must have been an indoor show :(

Barcelo Solymar: Such an amazing time!!

The Barcelo Solymar was a wonderful choice for the misses and I we had the must amazing time. Now I will 100% honest this place has earned its name as the party spot.... but it is not bad enough you cant find peace away from the parties. The main building is always hopping and older so the noise does travel. But if you want the best of both worlds get a bungalow or a bungalow suite ( we did) it allows you to join the party when you want but to go back to your own little quiet slice of paradise w [... read more]hen you want as well. The staff are absolutely amazing so kind and friendly, never had there hands out for anything and were so appreciative when you tip. They never seem to forget anyone and even the dinner staff knew where we liked to sit after the first day and would have our spot all set up with coffee and water before we got back with our plates. The food was 3-4 but its Cuba you should of known that going in. There is still so much to choose from you will never go hungry. This resort is older and does show its age in some areas but the staff are always cleaning and fixing stuff up. It's the disrespectful guest that cause most the issues by just tossing their garbage anywhere. This resort is also all about location they have the best section of beach by far and it's always clean. But our favorite part was the 4-5 min walk and your in the town of varadero with so much to do. For the price this trip was worth every last penny to us. We will definitely be back to this resort and will be bringing more friends and family. We cant say enough good about the people at this resort.

Palma Real: Allegro Palma Real is getting better ..>!

The hotel is getting better every month, new renovations and more entertainment than before. To all my Canadian friends, I highly recommend this Hotel. The Beach house is the place. I had been to Cuba 12 times, I like this Hotel is fun and nice....alive ..!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Loved it!

We Always come to this resort and we love it. The grounds are so beautifully kept. Workers are so friendly. The whole place just feels so safe. Everyone is very helpful. Rooms are cleaned daily. Very clean. Great energy all around and great entertainment. Cannot wait to go back.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: This resort is NOT for people with mobility challenges

The Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa is a sprawling, multi-level complex that is difficult to find your way around in if you have mobility challenges. Our room was the furthest out from everything and was also mutli-leveled and dimly lit which, I feel, contributed to my mother falling down the two stairs going to the bathroom and breaking her hip on the first evening we were there. The Sunwing representatives appeared defensive and was minimally helpful. It seemed they were trying to shove the [... read more] issue under the rug. I only spoke to the representative by phone. He came to the hospital after 9pm on the second day just after I left to return to the resort. He seemed to want to avoid me and just kept saying to my Mother that she would be coming back. When assistance was requested we were told the resort didn't do that (e.g. transportation to/from the hospital). If it were not for the hospital, I would not have had anything to eat or drink all day as everything was closed down when I returned from the hospital. I felt extremely alone and without support while I walked 30 minutes to get back to my room, in the rain, because I didn't know how to get there and there was nobody around to ask for assistance. I was informed that the rest of the wedding party we went with enjoyed the resort and it's amenities. We also had positive interactions with the emergency response team and medical team at the hospital in Veradero who were kind, considerate and professional and did what they could to keep my Mother and I supported, safe and comfortable. The taxi drivers too were a big help and waited patiently when my sister and I traded off supporting my Mother at the hospital. I found it strange that accommodations were provided for my mother's mobility challenges at both the Toronto International Airport as well as the airport in Veradero, but no consideration was given to her or myself at the resort. There was an elevator to get up the 2 stories to the buffet but it was not very visible and we only discovered it after carrying the walker up and down the two flights of stairs so I could at least have breakfast before I left Cuba to accompany my mother back to Canada two days after we arrived.

Sol Palmeras: our first trip to Cuba

This was our first time to Cuba and we were not disappointed, the beach, Hotel area, pool, attractions and best of all the friendly employee's and staff they were amazing. We stayed in the bungalow that was very nice had lots of room and our Maid was great. The area was very clean and the sun wing rep was great, especially the day trips, we done two of these and they were great to see the area and City. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing staff made all the difference!

Unfortunately, our flight was delayed by 6 hours, and we got to the Resort in the wee hours of the morning. Check in was quick and easy, and we received an upgrade, being repeat customers. Our room was on the second floor, with an obstructed view of the pool. As luck would have it, our butler from a previous visit went by while we were on our balcony. He got our room changed to building 31, which was a walk out to the pool. AMAZING!!!! Best room we have ever had there. Jorge-Carlos, our previous [... read more] butler, had always treated us very well, but he went above and beyond this time around. The other butlers we had were great too, Adrian, and Reinert asked us every day if there was anything we needed that day. But no one was better than Jorge-Carlos! Alex on the beach bringing drinks, and Marle at the snack bar. Even the gardener was very friendly, as usual. We had dinner booked at the restaurant close to the pool every night, champagne and room service every morning. If there was any down side to our stay, it was just the usual difficulties of getting an available chair at the beach. Loved our new room, food was always fantastic, amazing staff, and great times!! We will be back again in September.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Muthu Playa Varadero

The shared facilities are good. The beach and the ocean are amazing. Customer service at the reception is good. Customer service representative (not sure about the name - Kardita?) was rude to me, she did not listen, interrupted in a very impolite manner, talked back to me and raised her voice, which is unacceptable. Cleaners do not put out signs "Wet Floor" - I slipped and fell on the wet floor and injured my knee - I am still in pain, visiting my doctor in Toronto - all the staff knew about it [... read more] - no one offered help, no one apologized. The room did not have a shower divider, I could not take a shower because it would flood the whole space. The fridge did not have a shelf and I could keep nothing there. The phone did not work. Some lights did not work. After I complained I was moved to another room, which was better, but still, the phone did not work, they brought another one from another room, but there was no ringing - no one could reach me - and I did not hear the person I was calling to. It the first room with multiple issues the stand lamps were dirty, with greasy dust on the surfaces, which made them impossible to touch. Everyday cleaning of the rooms is OK, but the floors are not washed properly. I could go on and on. Overall, the impression of this 4-star hotel is not positive at all.

Be Live Turquesa: Best Resort in Cuba

This is a great resort! Excellent service, great food and very clean!! Have been going to this Resort for 6 years and would not want to go anywhere else! Thanks to Laura Mulvihill-Spry for her dedication and expertise in providing such impeccable service in making our arrangements!

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Good time!

This resort has everything you need, for a great vacation. Food was surprisingly good, and plentiful. wifi was not consistent so be prepared to not be able to connect if you need to.Lobby and piano bar entertainment was awesome, however I was disappointed in the animation team, very little activities during the day at the pool/beach. beach was great! staff for the most part was awesome, extra awesome in the coffee bar (mike's). Was a little disappointed that we booked our honeymoon here and received no perks, I read a lot of reviews where resorts will make it a little extra special but that was not the case here.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Best Resort I've Ever Been To

As my title indicates, this is the best resort I've ever been to; everything was top notch. Cuba gets a bad rap from some for its food, but it was phenomenal here. Shout out to Pedro in the buffet for his unbelievable service and candour throughout my stay, though everyone's hospitality was excellent!

Playa Vista Azul: Stunning Resort!

My boyfriend & I stayed at this resort from May 3rd-9th it was a birthday trip for myself.. everything about this resort is absolutely stunning everything is so well kept & modern .. the people are the sweetest .. the Infiniti pool Infront of the lobby is gorgeous.. the buffets are good.. the rooms are huge with a king sized bed & glass stand up shower.. the pina coladas are so yummy & the lobby bar makes the BEST iced coffee in the morning! I would give this resort 5 stars over & over again itâ [... read more]€™s a must stay if you are visiting varadero cuba! If I had to choose one thing that would be a downfall it would be that the beach is a little small still stunning but a little small.. you need to take a taxi if you want to go off the resort ( 15 pesos ) and if you want the cabanas you need to wake up extra early because they’re never free but all around it’s a BEAUTIFUL RESORT! I’ll be returning 100000%

Melia Las Antillas: Sex and salsa

I thought I would write a book after our stay ( me and the misses of 35 years) The name “” sex and salsa”. It’s an adult resort fill with string bikinis and Latin music. Unlimited drinks great food super beach great pool area friendly bartenders and Cuban entertainment. Well I need not say any more. Try it your self Oops did I mention second honeymoon.

Sol Palmeras: Amazing Resort

This hotel is great. Rooms were a little dated but clean. Food was plentiful and tasty. Staff were friendly and courteous. Olga in the buffet went above and beyond. Lasiel in the lobby bar was a sweetheart. Our maid Beatriz always had our bungalow clean. We had an ongoing issue with the AC but was always looked after as soon as the call was made. My only complaint is with the mattresses. Not very comfortable. That being said... I would return to Sol Palmeras in a heartbeat! Looking forward t [... read more]o our next visit!!
