Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Paradise

This visit was our 5th in 3 years to this resort. I think that tells it all. It is perfect for us. Small with just 300 rooms all facing the ocean. Each room has a balcony with a 2 person hot tub! The staff is amazing. Kind and eager to serve you. The food and drinks are delicious. 4 al a carte restaurants and reservations are not required. The buffet also serves a large variety of great food. Snorkeling from the beach is the highlight of the vacation. Turtles, stingrays, lots of colourful f [... read more]ish and even the odd barracuda. Can't wait to return.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Nice Resort

Nice variety of restaurants but only the Japanese takes reservations. The rest are first come, first serve so may need to wait 1-2 hrs for table, or opt for buffet. Disappointing beach. We had windy days that brought in large amounts of seaweed that wasn’t always removed. Other resorts along beach had much less or kept up with removing it. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Riu Yucatan: For seniors, a review of Riu

Resort had two buffet restaurants with above average food, with open porches which we preferred more than the specialty restaurants. The lounge chairs were plentiful but for those of us who prefer shade, there were not enough covered spots on the beach. The ocean was rough all week so bobbing in the water was just for the younger braver guests. Like most resorts, the main pools were often noisy with loud music. But the pool near check in was always delightful and quiet. The room we were given wa [... read more]s a modest size, with a very tiny toilet room and no privacy between the bed room and the shower. Our room was away from the noisy areas but many of the rooms were not. We had the ground floor but for those on the second and third floor there were no elevators, only stairs. The main entertainment began each night at 9:45 pm which was much too loud and much too late for us as seniors, and much later than entertainment started at Pullman, our previous Cuban resort. Staff in the Riu restaurants were good. Sunwing flight times were good but the seats on the down flight were quite uncomfortable - not unlike some Transat flights.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: A truly comfortable resort

The location is great, very close to the Cancun airport. Very little plane traffic overhead. The junior suite room was spacious and clean. The staff do their very best to make their guests as comfortable as possible. The selection of restaurants was excellent. The food was great and selection was there. The entertainment was entertaining. Just no going through the motions. Draw backs: toilets were low and time went too fast.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Great Vacation

Overall the resort was beautiful. Upon arriving my wife and I were a little concerned as the drive to the resort was a quite scary. The location of this resort was not the greatest. Once we arrived to the lobby, we were greeted, very professionally. I had asked if there were any upgrades to the pools side view, as we didn’t want to look at the garden. We were told the cost to upgrade was $800 US, crazy. We refused, then they dropped it to $600, we refused again, and the prices was dropped agai [... read more]n to $200, so we upgraded. We met people at the pool who payed $600 to upgrade, not fair. The food at all the restaurants was amazing. If you like entertainment by the pool, then this is not the place for you, it was very quiet. The beach was very dirty, water was not clear at all. One more thing that was a little disturbing is they had a private function the occupied half of the pool deck for two days, extremely limiting the space for vacationers to lounge.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Thumbs up

Rooms : large , clean, comfortable king bed, AC, dehumidifier, iron and ironing board , mini fridge, safe, big tv, approximately 12 hangers, shampoo, body wash, body lotion, toothbrush/paste , shaver, mouthwash, shower cap, sewing kit and so much more. Loved the hanging swing chair on the balcony of our pool view ElBesos room. Disliked needing to empty the dehumidifier every 5-7 hours because it filled up quickly. Pool: large, very clean, never needs to save a spot. We chose to relax at the more quiet Privilege pool. Pools are clean, water is refreshing on a hot day. Lifeguards everyday both at pools and beach. Beach: red flag all week, it was nice to walk along the beach and enjoy watching the waves roll in. Bring beach shoes if you plan to go in the water. Food : Surprised foodie. BlueMoon adult restaurant was our favourite, With the Mexican restaurant and a close second. Decent selection of healthy foods in the buffet, impressed by the variety of fresh fruits and freshly pressed fruit juices. Café: good lattes , cappuccinos , etc as well as smoothies and a wide selection of teas and desserts. Good vibe. Bars : drinks are strong ! No watered down booze here. Service : exceptional from our room attendant , the staff at BlueMoon , Mikes café, the Prestige pool bar and select buffet staff. Very good service elsewhere. Vibe: Lots of partying millennials and families with small children. Not as quiet as we’d have liked, but it never felt crowded and we could always find a quiet spot if we needed it. Security : solid . Lots of security people walking the grounds of this beautiful resort. Gym: they have a great Crossfit area and usual gym equipment. Spinning bikes need some tuning. Overall - solid place to enjoy a vacation , relax , enjoy good service from caring personnel. Thumbs up!

Barcelo Maya Palace: Beautifully Groomed resort

Very wide spread resort. A lot of walking The beach was pretty much lined off with rocks. Really need water shoes. Food was good. The Brassiere was amazing! Great food, great service. Beautiful clean rooms. But again, l mean a lot of walking...to every restaurant, markets, shows Was dissatisfied with the rocky beach. People in bare feet couldn’t walk proper to step in the water.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Valentin going downhill!!

The hotel grounds were beautiful, stunning. The staff were extremely accommodating. The quality of food has dropped dramatically as has the availability of food. There is no evening buffet, the resort advertises no Reservations required at Al La Carte Restaurants - that is not correct. They may not take reservations but it is highly unlikely you will be seated if you do not go and put your name on a waiting list long before you are ready to eat - putting your name on a waiting list - is [... read more] that not a Reservation??? We went for dinner at 7 pm and by 9 pm had not eaten nor were we able to be placed on a Waiting List at 3 of the restaurants. We ate Room Service two evenings and because of that, I will not be returning. It is not acceptable. The quality of the food also was not as it had been. I was a repeat visitor and was very disappointed. The Buffet was actually the best place to eat and that was closed in the evenings!!! Breakfast was great. The beach was beautiful but the wind was so high, you could not comfortably sit on the beach and if you sat on the 'Bali Beds', you were rushed off as these were for the Privilege Guests. The resort was half full, there were dozens of vacant beds all day long but if you sat there, you were told to pay $42.00. I am a traveler, I have been to the Mayan over a dozen times but am so done with it. Playa del Carmen is chaotic, far too touristy, far too crowded, the vendors are far too pushy. Crime on the Mayan has escalated exponentially in five years. I checked local newspapers daily and daily there was either an accident or a shooting on the Tulum corridor (road from Cancun to Tulum). Shootings, drug busts, tourists hurt in accidents - all daily occurrences. So that is my review of the Valentin and the Playa del Carmen area. The same for Cancun.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Great Resort! Second Time Back

This is our 2nd time back to Grand Palladium! The layout of the hotel is beautiful. We loved dining in the restaurants, all delicious. The hotel does a good job of having entertainment and activities for guests of all ages. Very friendly and attentive staff. Would go back again!

Grand Palladium Select White Sand: 7th trip back!

Love this resort! Clean, beautiful and excellent food, restaurants, entertainment! Pools and beach are spectacular! Family friendly and great customer service. They know how to treat people. I love their Spa as well. I have brought many family and friends to this resort and now they are all repeats as well!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Clean good food curtious staff

Arrived Jan 8 via Air Transat was due to land at 4 landed at 5. Got to the Hotel at 630 checked in by 830 We were starving. First mesl at the Steak place was amazing. Room was renovated. Bed was super comfy. Staff was great, especially Bell Boy and Golf Cart drivers, but ask 2 or 3 staff about the same thing and You will get 3 different answers. Barcelo Maya Palace: Amazing vacation!

Overall this resort is a perfect all-inclusive get-away and what you’d expect from a Barcelo property. The location was beautiful, the facilities were well cared for and the food was really good. I love the attention to detail and throughout the resort, there were many beautiful spaces created to help make your moments richer. For the most part, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The unfortunate exception was the person who checked us in. Not friendly or helpful. Didn’t exp [... read more]lain anything nor did she offer a beverage like all of the other families received. I believe she was new - perhaps a manager or trainer should have stayed close by. It was a negative introduction to the property that fortunately was short-lived. And really from that point forward it only got better. Our room was as it looked in the brochures and housekeeping did a great job maintaining it. With 6 resorts all-together, there was always something new to discover. And the restaurant variety was like most 5star resorts. Good food -great variety. The pools and the beach were immaculately taken care of and I felt very safe. Loved the mix of reef and beach for exploring. It was a wonderful week away for my girls and I. I would highly recommend this resort.

The Sens Riviera: great vacation

The hotel itself is definately not new. it is however clean. staff are great . service excellent and minimal wait times at the resaurants despite soe of the other reviews. the beach is amazing and many beautiful pools. food is average. We travelled with kids who loved the kids club and dinoland. would go again

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Great Resort!

This massive new resort had only been open 3 weeks. Everything at the resort was bright and clean. The staff were great - everyone was friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to an ocean front swim out room which was beautiful! The food was excellent at all the restaurants! The service was wonderful!! There are 4 a al cartes in this section plus the buffet. The buffet is not open for dinners, so we needed to make reservations at the other restaurants or go to the buffet in one of the othe [... read more]r sections. You have access to all the facilities and restaurants in the other 5 sections. There are double decker buses to take you to the other sections or you can walk to them along the beach on wide walk ways that take you from one end of the Barcelo to the other, about 2 kms. The decor was very modern. The colours were light and muted. The halls and rooms are large. We did not feel crowded anywhere. Even the beds are oversized! There were lots of chairs and shade at the pools. The pools were a bit cold the first couple days we were there, but when the weather warmed up, the pools warmed up. There are lots of chairs at the beach, but the swimming is better over in front of the other sections. There is a massive new convention centre which hosts large groups. While we were there 2 groups came through - one of 700 and one of 1,000 delegates. The large group swamped the buffet for lunch. The other group we barely saw except in the lobby bar at night. Overall, we had a good vacation and would highly recommend this resort.

The Sens Riviera: Great vacation

Jan. 7, 2020, Grandma, mom, and two children stayed at the Sunscape Akumal spa and resort for a wonderful week...I have no idea why this resort is getting so many poor reviews...we had a sun club room with a balcony overlooking the pool, and had no complaints....until the third day there was a bathroom issue in the suite...after reporting it, the manager escorted us to a new room......the presidential suite..he sent a bottle of Champaign to our room and special treats for the kids as well as cho [... read more]colate covered strawberries for all, and upon the last day checkout is 12 noon, and he told us just to stay as late as we needed. The beach was beautiful, green, clean and full of beautiful tropical fish..dinosaur land was great for the kids and they loved going to kids club...plenty of food, and drinks, I think this is one of the most kid friendly resorts I have been to even prior to the room upgrade

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Amazing family vacation

Beautiful lush grounds with so many beautiful animals all around. We had such an amazing family vacation. Beautiful beach and tons of chairs at pool area. Friendly staff and close to shopping. Would definitely recommend.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Another super Bahia stay!

We favor the Bahia Resorts and have been to ones in Mexico, D.R. and Jamaica. No matter which one you are at they will solve your problem whether it be the AC, phone or hair dryer very promptly and correctly. Always very pleasant and try hard to go above and beyond to please you. This trip we stayed at the Luxury Akumal and had an Oceanview room near the infinity pool. Fifty ft. to the ocean and 20 ft. to the pool. Just heavenly! We ate at all the restaurants and the food was amazing. Satu [... read more]rday night is all you can eat lobster and prime rib beef. So good! Food is available I noticed for gluten free and sugar reduced dieters too. All areas are very clean at all times. Entertainment was average but enjoyable. If you what to take the guessing out of a resort just book a Bahia resort. We have never had a bad experience with them.

Grand Sunset Princess: Love this resort !

From the welcoming to our departure, all was great. Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful and clean grounds and rooms. The food was great, entertainment every night was fun. We also booked a special romantic dinner on the beach....out of this world !! Staff made us feel extra special, took care of us as if we were superstars, the setting was perfect, the food was incredible. Also Sunwing rep Miguel was great, knowledgeble and helpful. Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Great Resort but had a couple of issues

Good service, great food, but had an issue because there was a down duvet on the bed and I am allergic to down. It took a few days to figure this out because it is a low allergy version. I got very sick after 3 nites. They changed the duvet once I brought it up , but by then my vacation was ruined. They constantly are enquiring about food allergies at the restaurants, it would have been nice to be alerted to this down duvet by a simple card on the bed. Other issue was a drunk banging on  [... read more]the door next to me trying to get in their place without a key at 1:30 in the morning. I would be happy if they shut the bars down at midnight so that I could sleep better. The doors are also very loud when closed (they slam shut by themselves). Still like the place a lot.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Grand Bahia Principe - Mayan Riviera

The resort was beautiful, clean and very well maintained with lots of activities to keep everyone busy. Food at the buffet restaurant was mediocre and very repetitive. As for the a la carte restaurants, it was average except for Frutos del Mar seafood restaurant (the food offering there was extensive and well prepared). Overall, the service staff was friendly and accommodating. We filed a complaint with Air Canada Vacation at Grand Bahia Principe Coba and they denied our claim. We will NEVER book anything through Air Canada Vacations again!
