Excellent and very polite staff. Great food with lots of variety to choose from. Well maintained and great place to relax. Variety of tours is an icing on the cake. Airport reception crew is excellent. Will do it again!

Riu Montego Bay: Wonderful place, wonderful people!
The resort is extremely close to the airport so after a grueling day of travelling, you're only a 10 minute bus ride to paradise!
Walk into a gorgeous, spacious front foyer where friendly staff are ready to assist you. (And put a drink in your hand!)
All inclusive really means all inclusive here with unlimited drinks inside each room. Although all main areas have strong wifi connection, there is no wifi inside the rooms. (It is available for a fee.)
Every night my family and I would loo[... read more]k forward to the exciting shows after dinner. The Riu entertainment crew and dancers are so talented I really thought I was watching The Grease musical or a Michael Jackson concert! They are always ready with activities by the pool, dance lessons and fun games. The crew really impacted my stay at Riu Montego Bay.
There is so much culture and beauty in Jamaica. One of the best trips by far! Amazing staff and service, great food, and beautiful beaches!

Riu Palace Pacifico: I keep goimg back because the place is beautiful and well kept but the staff are lovely and friendly.
As above - well kept but the staff are so genuine and friendly. I wish the economy could pay them more- they are so worth it. Despite that, they are all quite lovely and I will keep going..The quality of the food depends which chef is on that day but ranges from great to OK.

Riu Palace Antillas: Awesome vacation!
We had an amazing vacation at the Riu Palace Antillas! The staff was friendly and helpful. The common areas were updated modern design. The rooms require total renovation to match the 5 star rating of this Riu hotel resort. The a-la-carte Steakhouse restaurant offered an excellent steak however the ambiance was lacking. We liked the fact that we could visit the adjoining Riu Palace Aruba and use all of their facilities except the a-la-carte restaurants. The powder white beach is awesome although [... read more]the water was not clear during our stay. Riu Reggae: Relaxing holiday
Just got back last week and had a very relaxing holiday. Since it is a new hotel everything is very clean. Checked into a garden view room which had a view of a wall and ugly trees. Was able to upgrade to an ocean view room which was great. View of the beach and pool. Depending on what you are looking for in a holiday the Riu Reggae for me has some faults. No room service which I missed. If you do not offer room service then at least have a coffee maker in the room. Very far to go in the morning[... read more] for a coffee. I would of enjoyed having it on my balcony. The beach is man made so in places very stoney and it is not long if you enjoy walking. The pools are shallow maybe 3 feet. Not a lot of service around the pools and none on the beach. Food in all the restaurants were good and great variety in the buffet. Nice hotel but no wow factor!!

Riu Ocho Rios: Average Resort
Entertainment was great for all family members. Housekeeping in the hotel was also good, the mattress need to be replaced 'VERY UNCONFORTABLE'! Information counter very slow, waited 20 minutes. There was also the one day that they ran out of pool towels. Food was good but not enough, also not enough Staff to serve people during dinner time. They were not prepared for our large group (15) from when we got off the plane.

Riu Flamingos: Pleasantly surprised
We spent two weeks at this resort and absolutely loved everything about it. It is extremely clean everywhere, the food is yummy, the beach is beautiful and the staff are amazing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It is very busy but very well organized to handle the crowds. I would not hesitate to return even though the Sunwing flight times are brutal. Give it a try.....you will love it and we feel it is the best deal out there.

Riu Reggae: Great stay at Reggae!
Grounds very new. In a few years there will be mature trees and plants.
Food areas safe, bright and signs of conscientious supervision of wait staff and food handlers.
Clean, bright and new.
Staff amazing, helpful and ready to please.
Jerk hut, never ran out of food.
Our one critique is that of the pool maintenance and the surfaces around the lounge areas. I have seen at other resorts, tireless pool maintenance, washing stone surfaces, vacuuming, etc . I did not see this here. Sand an[... read more]d spills not washed each night, even cigarette butts on the tiles next morning....glasses still with drinks sitting on the swim up bar areas in the pool well past walking back from the shows at 11pm we didn't see anyone working in the pools.
Pool had slimy surfaces, the ramp was no vacuumed of sand, there were
Garbage pieces and straws in the pools.
I do not know why these resorts hand out straws with every drink.
We saw them all over the resort, in the pool, flowerbeds, patio areas, sand, beach etc. They are bad for the environment, think how much money RIU could save if they banned straws!

Riu Merengue: Not a four star resort
The best thing I can say about this resort is that there are no time share vultures to avoid.
The rooms are small, but the balconies are quite roomy, however a working toilet would have been nice. We made a number of calls to get it fixed and were assured they would send someone, no one ever arrived. In the end my husband had to fix it himself. On day three of our vacation we lost hot water, were kept being told it would be fixed soon, when we checked out four days later there was still no hot[... read more] water. The air conditioning also didn't work properly. Some days it worked other days not so much.
The service was inconsistent at best. The housekeeping staff did and excellent job and some of the wait staff were very good, however overall the impression you get is one of indifference from most staff. The front desk staff is the worst, they couldn't care less if you have a complaint and have no real intention of doing anything to rectify your problem.
Calling this a four star resort is outrageous. Four star resorts have clocks and irons and coffee makers in the rooms. They also have working plumbing.
The food was edible if a bit on the monotonous side, the same thing at every meal with very little variation. They say reservations are not needed for the restaurants, but good luck getting in. We were turned away, despite there being empty tables, at the steakhouse by Sandy (who seemed to be the head waiter). He was downright rude.
There are much better resorts in Puerto Plata, take our advice and book anywhere else but at the Rui Merengue.

Riu Negril: Great family time ...but
Family vacation over Christmas. December 19-26. Great job Candice at tripcentral, fantastic service.
Limo pick up at 6am to go to airport good. Given instructions for arrival. Post 29 etc. Great job. Patrick I think. Mermaid limo p/u at home Good. Pick Up at airport see later in post
Sunwing to Jamaica.
Original flight time 10 am
unfortunately, delayed flight on departure by approx 3hrs.
Seats with extra space used to be given to travelers with disabilities free. Now[... read more] you pay for these.
A.v. Equipment broken on way down, therefor no movie.
You now pay large for cheap crappy food on board. Son had mac and cheese, wife had soggy pizza, I had lazagna. Bill came to $32. Frozen pasta dinner from micalina(?) is better and only cost a dollar.
Jamaican airport is a zoo.
Bus to resort
Waited 2 hours at airport for a person who took wrong bus before driver left for resort.
Arrival at resort at approx 8 pm.14 hours traveling.
Arrived at resort to find room booked for third floor. No elevator. Wife with cane. Hotel was sent request for ground floor when booked. "Upgraded room" to oceanfront from ocean view. Look around trees to see ocean. Also right at pathway intersection. Room 1049. Like being parked at busy highway.
Room having been upgraded last year, good. Need to fix broken tile on floor as it has sharp edges.Had to have rollaway bed brought for son. Water pressure very low at all times.
Unless you are going on excursions, don't waste time going to orientation.sunwing more pushy for excursions than pedallers on beach.
Food...
Mediocre at best. We at at buffet on arrival. Late in day therefor food warm at best. Selection was ok but repetitive and got worse through week.
Try to be at omelette bar early and you won't have to wait. up to 25 minutes one day for me.
Kulinarium rest.
Pumpkin soup good
Fancy salad excellent
Snapper good - me
Goat good- wife
Duck ok -17 yr old usually picky son
Mandalay rest.
I could not eat here. Tried several things, cold, greasy,
Wife- ok at best
Son - indifererent
Italian rest. - did not go. No pasta dishes?!
Beach.
Sandy beach with small tree roots, be careful. Fogged and raked every morning at about 6 am. People on it or not. No sand fleas or bugs thou.
Day Activities by entertainment staff were excellent and kept our son busy most days. Way to go Rolly-Polly. Wow, what energy.
Pools were good. Clean. Pools games fun to watch. Son took part in some.
One unfortunate incident by drunks fighting. Ugly and a disappointment but not a resort issue. Unfortunately, staff didn't know what to do.
Evening entertainment,
Preshows involve audiences participation fun.
I saw 3 shows and steel drums. History of Jamaican music, good
Africa? Left some of audience detached
Circus. Left after 2 very slow balancing acts
Steel drums, wife says they were alright
DRINKS
Come on guys, I TRIED to get drunk one day, 25 double rum piña coladas each with wife and I. Normal night for me is 4-5 max at home. Didn't happen.
Departure,
Original checkout time from resort set for 10 am. Told bus pick up for airport 11. Packed checked out and waiting. Then told bus now 1 pm.
Ok, I'm at resort. Dressed for air conditioned travel. Bus showed up at 1:20. Is that our bus? Sunwing rep didn't know.
Arrived at airport in record time. Wow driving incredibly fast. 80 km limit , no way. Called limo for pick up kept company informed of flight status.
Arrived at airport flight time and gate changed to two hours later. Delta passengers were given sandwich and soda pop for only 2 hour delay. Flight time changed at least twice more.finally boards at 7 pm. Land in Toronto at approx 11 pm.
Limo pick up driver did not follow procedure and sign in. Therefor left at airport making phone calls to closed company.... finally driver shows at approx 1 am. Not impressed.
Overview,
Great family time together.
Traveling left room for improvement
. Sunwing in particular. Get it together. It about the customers.
Hotel, room ok. Food needs improvement. House Wine needs to be replaced, undrinkable. Christmas bottled wine good. Drinks thin.Beach good. Pools good.

Riu Republica: Was it worth the price?
My man and I went on our annual vacation down south. This year we tried an adults only hotel. It’s called the Riu Republica in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I was told it just opened in June.
Was there enough activities?
Yes. The entertainers had games for everyone, BUT…they were too long to wait to play them. They would try to get 10 to 20+ people to sign up. So, you would get one turn and then wait another 10 minutes to play. My man and I did win at darts. He came 1st and I came 2n[... read more]d. However, this is normal in most resorts. So, if anyone from resorts are reading this, can you please do a max of 10 people. While we want to play, we also want to enjoy the sun.
There was a fun game called Slip and slide that the tourists decided to do. They used one of the tables in the pool, added TONS of water to it and encouraged everyone to get on. Well, most of us did and it was a blast. I did hear though of someone tearing out their belly button ring because there was groves in the table.
2 days during the week they had a foam party. They played great dance, rock, and some country music. So, that was great.
What was the room like?
One word…HUGE!!! We had a king size bed…OMG, I loved having my own side of the bed. I would have to roll over 3 times just to get close to him. So, you can imagine how amazing my sleep was.lol
There was plenty of water bottles, alcohol, beers in the fridge, towels and pillows.
However, constant humming outside. We were facing east, which was what we wanted because we wanted sun in the morning. However, we couldn’t sit out there because the noise actually hurt our ears. There was some sort of machine outside that was constantly running. It never turned off.
What was the weather like?
That’s the interesting part. It rained every morning, but would stop around 7:30, and at least 2 times during the week in the afternoon.
What about the food and drinks?
OK, so here’s where I’m a bit disappointed. There was 1 buffet, a snack place, and 3 restaurants we could eat at. The buffet had good food and quite a variety, but the restaurants all had buffet too and not open every day. Only the steak house had sit down menu that you chose from. Everywhere else was buffet. I really wanted a sit down dinner and something different. After all, that’s what it said was provided in the description.
The drinks were good. We had beer most of the time, and mimosa in the morning. One of the bar guys Leornardo made wonderful dry vodka martini’s with LOTS of olives for us. One girl at the pool gave me a shot with coffee cream and chocolate sauce…OMG, that was tasty. We tried the Mama Juana. YACK!!! That stuff will grow hair on your chest, even if you’re a woman!
What about the beach?
Ah yes the beach. The beach was soft and easy to walk on. With the crazy weather i.e. wind and rain it was hard, but we walked 40 minutes each way. We saw the Hard Rock hotel that we walked in to see. It’s HUGE. Not a place for him and I. We like smaller and more outside. This hotel felt like it was a shopping mall. It’s good for some people, but not for us.
So, would you go back?
We paid over $3600 for the 2 of us. It was fun, we met some very nice people, and there were no kids. So, would we go there again? No! The prices doesn’t make up the difference for things that are important to me like restaurants, quiet time while sitting on the balcony. Last year we stayed at the Grand Palladium Punta Cana and it was 2 times the size and cost us $2400. Oh and there was no one selling local artifacts which we liked to see during the week.

Riu Montego Bay: Amazing Vacation
Although there are certain things that the resort can improve on, the week my family and I spent at Riu Montego Bay was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations I've had in a long time!
This was me and my wife's 3rd trip to Jamaica and second to Montego Bay (first at the Riu). The vacation was fairly priced and definitely worth what we paid for. I would definitely go back to the Riu Montego Bay.
Pros:
- Food was amazing! always had plenty of choices
- Beautiful pool area
- R[... read more]eally big resort that you can find a lot of activities to pass your day
- Wonderful staff that make your stay more than what it is
Cons:
- Beach was fairly overcrowded (but with this big of a resort I guess they have to make room for a lot of people on the beach)
- Had no reservations for the restaurants (first come first serve)- this made a huge line ups everyday- we still got to try all three- but would be nicer if they can give out reservation times ahead of time

Riu Palace Paradise Island: not so good
It's definitely a 3 star not 4 star resort. It needs to be updated. And resort stuff could be friendlier. Air conditioning leaked, not enough variety of food selection, not enough tables at buffet, huge lineups to get to a restaurant. Beach terrible to cramped and public. Wouldn't go again to that hotel even though we have been at RIU resorts before in other countries. We went because of Atlantis but next time once Beach Resort goes all inclusive that's where we would stay.

Riu Santa Fe: Best Vacation Ever!!
Absolutely loved our stay at the Riu Santa Fe. Blew our expectations out of the water. We had a room with a great view of the interior pool, and the main grounds of the resort. We were on the top floor so we could also see a beautiful view of the city in the horizon and had a beautiful view of the sunrise in the morning.
Rooms were very clean, tiled floors/shower and a double sink with granite counter tops. The drinks in the mini fridge were restocked every couple days, but we were shocked to[... read more] find another mini bar with 4 full bottles of hard liquor that you could help yourself to.
The units in the resort were thoroughly cleaned daily, the grounds were clean and maintained daily as well. The main walkways were always washed throughout the day and the maids kept hallways and stairways swept, mopped, and dusted before we were even up for the day!
The food was good, always a wide selection to chose from! From a salad bar, to fruit and dessert or chicken, fish, mashed potatoes and gravy, pasta, soup...etc.
We did find that you had to be at the a la carte's very early to get into the restaurants. *(Steakhouse is definitely worth your while)*
The beach was clean and nice. However, the sand was not very soft and not fun to walk on for a long period of time. The ocean was fun to be in but you had to go in with caution as the waves and undertow was strong. We did walk left up the beach that took us to these big rocks. beautiful view. and we also walked right which took us to a marina. If you kept walking there were many shops, a mall, restaurants, tequila tasting, etc. Made for a fun day, but sore muscles the next!!
The view from the beach was amazing!! I loved looking out , whether you were sitting having drinks in the infinity pools or you were on the beach you could look out and see the beautiful view of lovers arch.
Pools were cleaned and maintained. Pool location for everyone...Family pool towards the middle of the resort where it was more quiet . Or if you wanted to enjoy drinks there were a few pools with a swim up bar. There was a pool for daily entertainment...Depends how you felt that day, you could chose where you wanted to hang!
The bars are clean, drinks are great and a great selection to chose from, and the service of the bartenders were fun and inviting.
Night shows were fun to watch, they also had a "pre show" that got the kids involved too! (and it was fun to watch the kids having a good time as well)
We had the best vacation at the Riu Santa Fe, and we highly recommend it to anyone. But more so, individuals or couples that are ready to drink and party as we found the majority of the age group was between 18 and 30.
We had the best time, made the best friends and created the best memories. Thanks for the recommendation . We cant wait to return!!!

Large property with the sister property next door. All the staff that we encountered were super friendly and helpful. The food and alcohol choices were amazing and varied. The pools and beach were great also with plenty of seating.
