Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Very pleased with my choice of Melia Hotel
Melia Cayo Santa Maria is a really nice place. We usually go to to Melia Cayo Coco but as I had my granddaughter with me this was not a choice as it is adults only. The Santa Maria offers a mini club and this exceeded my expectations by far. The ladies that run the kids club are the best and my granddaughter counted the minutes for the kids club to open.
Buffet restaurant, beach restaurant and lobby bar excellent, room very nice, pools spectacular and so is the beach. The grounds are kept pri[... read more]stine. What makes or breaks a stay for me are the people that run a place. Absolutely everyone bent over backwards to make our stay memorable.

Melia Las Americas: So addictive, you never want to leave
I would like too start with, Cuba made me forget the rest of the world. My experience at Melia Las Americas was indescribable. This resort and Cuba in general, opened a whole new world for me. This was the first country I have visited other then Lebanon, and I now want to travel the world. 5 days was way to short.. I wouldn't mind living at Melia Las Americas. The days felt timeless and stress free. The second you arrive you're treated like family by the most generous, genuine people. Besides the[... read more] beautiful beaches and pools and weather, I was hooked by the staff and the kindness and care they expressed, It was beyond amazing. It suited everyones interests. You wanted to spend a relaxing quiet vacation by the water, their was quiet areas at the beach and pools. You wanted to experience the traditional Cuban culture, it was filled with different opportunities like live old traditional music, dancing on the beach, visiting the locals flee market. If you enjoy the modern party atmosphere, music, dancing, and flashing lights were provided further down along the beach which continued until late at night. I cant even finish the long list of the different enjoyable activities and adventures you can enjoy.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Roaches! Bad Service! Good Place.
1.) Been to 24hr snack bar and people are so damn lazy that for 1egg it'll take 45mins for them cook, cause the staff there were to busy chitchatting / giggling to one another.(happened twice ar night) while the foods were colds, and the roaches are partying too on those food that was left at the conveyor. (Incident Report: June19,20midnight)
2.) Asking for plate takes longer to bring out in the days cause staff is busy going around. (Incident Report: one of the Black lady June22 at 3-4pm)
[... read more]
3.) Too bad, this is the only resort I've visited that has no sea food. :( just fish. Haha Shimp is to book in a la carte dinner time before u taste it and the service will just took 1.45-2.5hrs to be completely served... (waste of time)
4.) people in the resort seems like need to be given a tip first before they served you, instead of doing their work right and serve... (I always tip no matter how they treat me, not a stingy, but I Am not satisfied how they served)
5.) Dumb thing to do Mosquito Killing with motor strolling around in the middle of the Party at night.. shud be done early In the morning to avoid the chemical inhalation and provoking the mosquito to come out more at a very humid night.
6.) Hotel Cleaner, not really cleaning well. sometimes forgetful about replacing towels and tissues.
7.) Bar People are so rude. Asking for lemon juice and they're saying they don't have it serve or they running out..... (Until the next nice server will be happy to make one for you, like wth is going on?)
8.) it is not recommendable and will never gonna come back at This HoteL. This place is full of crap and completely not happy on my vacation, Compared to Melia Las Dunas in Sta. Maria... (Been there last year, People and Food are amazing, it's just that their hotel suits are not Airconed at night)
Resort is ok, Place is amazing, it's just that the people that works there are need to be reassessed / trained and educate more to DO their job well.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Unfortunately.... I am disappointed
I am not a pretentious person but this resort is not a 5 stars.
It will be my 1st bad review.
Personal need to be paid all the time.even for a bottle of water for my 2 1/2 daughter.
I needed 3 towels in our room and I did had them all day. Only 2 out of 7.
I asked coffee in the room each morning. ..I did not have.
I asked for milk in our room . They never call back or come to the milk.
The bar disent have chairs do u order and go away.
The buffet has gaz problem so ou[... read more]r meals were half cooked. Bleah to eat raw chicken
To be served it was an eternity. They came with a small coffee and then try to have a second it took forever that we said we might forget about it.
Food is not tasty bug not even cooked.
The children don't have juice to drink in afternoon. Only dinner time and that all.
The beach bar is very poor and far.
I didn't like it.
I will stop because there is nothing I try to say I liked it.
Maybe the sun ad the clear water.
I will not return for sure here and for Cuba I Wil think twice or let more years to pass util I will forget thus bad experience.
Ieeill definitely spend money in Republiqur dominicaine or Mexic but not soon in Cuba.
I am sorry for the ones working there but there is nothing try can do. The management is to blame and also the system they are in.
They might think is beautiful place and do a good job. Get out in the world to compare.
Have a nice vacation for the ones go there find your beautiful in small thinks. Water beast sun .

Melia Marina Varadero: Great time at the Melia Marina - Level Review
Melia Marina Review – The Level
This was a last minute trip for my DH and I, we have stayed at this resort 1 year ago and decided to go back. I also want to preface this review by saying that we know we are going to a communist country, we know the standards are different than other parts of the world. They do the very best they can with what they have, if you are not okay with that or understanding please go somewhere else. I saw some truly appalling requests from a few guests.
Arrival:[... read more] We arrived late on Monday night so we did not check into the level, instead in the main reception. It was quick and easy. They did have the champagne but we did not partake.
Room: We were in 1620 and it was very nice, it faced the pool and beach. Our room was always cleaned twice. Once in the afternoon and turn down in the evening for bed every day. King bed, 36 inch TV (I’m sure our TV last time was bigger but no problem), bathtub with waterfall faucet, shower, and toilet with separate door. Everything was clean and in great working order. We had our gold level towels in our room as well as robes and slippers. We would leave our towels in the room during dinner and during turn down service they would exchange them. You could also go to the level and get them exchanged as well if you didn’t want to wait.
Resort: We found the resort just as perfect as it was last year. Someone was always cleaning something. They also replaced all of the pool lining plastic tiles (not sure the actual name) while we were there.
Staff: Wonderful! They are truly what make this resort the best. My thanks to the level staff Anisleydis, Lazaro, Yosvani and Lazio. We loved the pool/beach staff Yusel, Jamie and Daumier. They were AWESOME! We played beach volleyball, Spanish lessons, action 16 I think it was called, and dance lessons. They kept us moving and having fun the whole time. The entertainment team is at the beach in the morning and in the afternoon starting at 3.
Level: We really enjoy the level services. They are always happy, smiling and willing to help. We would always go up for drinks and they made the best mojitos! My only small complaint was they are changing what is included in the level and a certain whiskey that was included before was not this time. If we are in the level and it’s on the shelf it should be served. Long pants are required for dinner, shorts are OK for lunch. I enjoyed getting the free wifi cards, nice to check on things at home in the evenings.
Buffet: We went to the buffet a couple of times for breakfast and lunch. I really liked the breakfast food at the buffet, it was hot and fresh. The fresh baked breads were the best! There are 3 cook to order stations which are going at all times. At lunch they had a pasta station and 2 cook to order for chicken or fish. I really enjoyed their pasta – just make sure you don’t add salt. Breakfast hours are 7-10am lunch is from 1-3pm and I’m not quite sure about the dinner hours. If you are hungry when the buffet isn’t open there is the snack bar open 24 hours.
Entertainment: We personally don’t go for the entertainment, but if you were to do so you may be a little disappointed. They don’t have a theatre like many resorts do but that doesn’t bother us. We watched the Cuban show and one other and enjoyed dancing and singing.
Kids Club: This hotel does have a kids swimming area and are building an infant area currently. I wouldn’t bring your kids here unless they could amuse themselves or you are bringing things to entertain them.
Marina: There are a large number of shops in the marina area with toiletries, liquor (very cheap for bottles), watch store, shoe store, clothing stores, bowling alley, evening club/disco, 3 restaurants and a small tourist souvenir market at the end. I would encourage everyone to take the hop on/ hop off bus to the marina to enjoy the area. I really enjoyed walking the marina in the evenings. This is NOT a part of the all-inclusive. This is the Marina directly BESIDE the hotel. Do not assume this is included.
Varadero: We love going into Varadero and walking around. If you go down to the Calle 22 area, make sure you are cautious. Tourists don’t go down there very often so a lot more scams/tricks to get you to buy items.
Tips: Varadero is saturated with toiletries, please try and bring other items the Cubans would enjoy. I left razors, tampons, advil, medical kits, extra clothes with tags on, hydrocortisone spray, Pepto, hair ties and pesos of course.
Travel Agent: We used Taylor Curtis from Tripcentral. She was amazing!! Very thorough, efficient and quick to answer any questions I had.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Good Resort, lacks management abilities at the front desk !
All in all, it is a good resort. Not big in area, but quite well maintained given the age of it. Pedrol, the young general manager was quick to respond to request for help. However, the reception desk failed to offer the basic support for "elegant members". Therefore, it is not important to pay the extra $30 to join ! Will return for future visits.

Sol Varadero Beach: Bad hotel
Sol Sirenas Coral is the hotel I requested as I stayed there last fall and I had asked for the 1000 building when we arrived we were put in the 7000 building which I had seen last fall and did not like it it is about 2 blocks away I was told the main hotel the 1000 and 2000 buildings were closed down in March the only think at the main hotel open was the pool but no services also when I arrived I told the host on the bus this was not the right place so we check in and went to the bar for a drink[... read more] and we were told only Rum drinks or beer were served here not being happy campers as I had showed my friend my pics from last trip of the hotel and talked him into booking well we each had our own room the next day we went to the Rep to tell him we were not happy as my request was the 1000 building well the he took me to the customer service office where the offered us a bottle of rum and special meals to try to get us to stay which I was not happy with so I asked to be moved to Villa Cuba where I had stayed befor in order to move we had to pay a extra $108.00 and also give up one room and share a room which we did and we enjoyed it the next day I was unpacking and remembered I left my money in the safe at the other hotel so I called and talked to a girl in customer service who said she would call the maintenance and have them go to open the safe and to call her back in 1 hour which I did and she said the maintenance guys were gone and to call back tomorrow the next day I called and she was off that day but another girl said she would call her to find out what was done and she would stop at Villa Cuba on her way home and leave a message for me at the front desk which never happened so at this point I knew it was gone so the day before check out I saw your Rep and told him so he called and found out new guest had check into the room and the safe was open on their arrival I just hope a poor Cuban is enjoying my $800.00

Memories Cayo Largo: Very natural
Nice, quiet place. We had an amazing time. Thank to Pedro, he makes my husband 's birthday really special. Also, thanks to guys and girls at the restaurant s , it was always something prepared for us at the table. Feels in a friendly environment. This is our favorite place since this June. Of course, it was a few little troubles with water and weather, but it does not ruined our Vacation
Will be back soon.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Better than expected.
We had a great time in this hotel. Food was great, staff friendly, weather couldn't have been better. Sunny every day 30+ temperature, beautiful beach, crystal clear water. If there was one thing to complain, it was mosquitoes. Every day between 5 and 9 PM they were everywhere. But they were biting everyone guests and staff equally. They tried their best by spraying every morning and evening.
Not our first trip to Cuba, but first one at this resort and we will definitely be back.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful grounds, Clean resort
This hotel was beautiful, grounds superb. Resort spotless, so clean. Amazing staff. Everyone did an amazing job at most levels. Cuban people are just lovely.
First contact though, was bad, not a smile and no glass of welcome champagne, just a key. Female reception staff need sacked. Never smiled. Male reception staff were very polite and did smile. As a manager myself I noticed first contact was so incredibly poor and the same continued for 5 days
Room: Block 6 Phone did not work, [... read more]coffee maker broken, shower broke on 2nd last day, bed was damp, sheets felt wet. Slept on top of bed for 5 nights with a little blanket.
Not what expected of a five star hotel :) Rather funny really. Just had to laugh. Cause no one in the hotel management cared!! Very noticeable that hotel management were absent, invisible, unlike other resorts I have been to.
So disappointed. Melia management really need to get their act together. Its not the workers fault. This is my 9th visit to Cuba so I have been in many hotels in Varadero, Cayo Coco and Santa Maria.
