Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great time. Again!

We were here end of June this year as a party of 6. We had a blast. When we saw the deals$ we checked the Hurricane forecast and took our chances. This time 4 of us went and were not disappointed. Some improvements were noticed, so new GM Iago, is working his plans. The weather had approx 1.5 hours of heavy rain and thunder. The rest of our time was.perfect. Don't get down on this, remember you are on vacation and can swim in warm waters (good snorkeling) and walk a stunning beach. Some periodic shortages of spirits but we adjusted. Tip everyone include gardeners and lifeguards as they get forgotten, but they're there when you need them. Thanks to Iago and his team at Memories Caribe Resort.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Amazing resort!

This was our second time vacationing at Sanctuary at Grand Memories! We loved it just the same. We realized our timing was a bit out of season and some adjustments were made (lunch and dinner buffet were served at the main hotel). The staff was friendly and helpful as usual. We had our butlers from last year remember us and conversations were pleasant and it was like talking to old friends. Accommodations were welcoming and we didn't have any problems worth mentioning (minor inconveniences).  [... read more]We vacation in Cuba for the beaches, not the food. The food is repetitive, sure, but New Year's stay in the Bahamas was just the same for almost triple the price... There is always something that calls to us and we do not go hungry. The staff is friendly and willing to help or get someone who could help. Overall, the experience has been awesome this time around too and we are planning to return!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Gorgeous Beach!

Beautiful location, spectacular beach - very clean, gorgeous weather, delicious cappuccinos at the Bites Bar, excellent rum choices, bright and clean rooms, tasty pizza at the beach, friendly and attentive staff, hood variety of food choices at the buffet, fast and organized service at the reception

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing Resort

We just love this resort. From the area not far from the airport, the beautiful grounds, 2 gorgeous beaches, and most of all the staff are so friendly and they do their best to make your vacation memorable. This was our second time at Playa Vista Azul in Varadero and we will visit again. We chose to stay in Premium and it was amazing.

Marazul Hotel: Value for money

Grounds and facilities were good. Staff are friendly. Room wads good all amenities working.for a low budget good. The situation of hotel to beach and bar was good an so were the beach facilities. Would've loved a live show in the dance hall.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing resort

The food in the Sanctuary was always good !! We had beef many times the week we were there was always fabulous! There was no bacon 3 mornings out of the week they said was very frozen. The beach was amazing .

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: The best vacation ever

It was one of the best vacations I ever had. The hotel was very good nice and clean the people over there was very nice very helpful and honestly I recommend Paradisus Princesa Del Mar to anyone planning to travel to Varadero

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Beautiful beach and nice staff

It was my first time in Cuba after 6 years. I was surprised that there was no noticeable difference in food in spite of food shortages in the country. I had to change the room x3 because the AC kept breaking and they couldn't fix it. But the reception staff were extremely helpful and nice. Building 55 was quiet and close to the beach. Room service staff helpful and professional. Because it's on the island away from the town I didn't see Canadian sex tourists which was great. Beach and ocean  [... read more]amazing. Lots of pelicans and other birds if you like nature. Low season so it was quiet away from the pool and bar. I would recommend to people who know and like Cuba. Nature lovers in low season would like it too. BTW I think that nobody needs our old clothes. Looks that there is a supply of some goods since the boarders have been open . But tips in US dollars and Canadian bills are appreciated. Loonies and toonies are useless. Pesos less valued because of high inflation.

Grand Memories Holguin: Nice resorts but out of no where.

Hi I would like to say good things first Hotel compere to others Hotels in Houlgun it is 3 star I liked my unit suit which was roomy and everything was working well The bad things which the manager of Hotel that can do for better on paths of improvement I would say To improve the foods that it wasn't tasty at all unfortunately there was no green like salads or fouroth just water melon and for first the papaya It was self-service and we have to wait so long to achieve the food I would gi [... read more]ve 3 from 10 The Japanese restaurant it was trebles no onions no garlic no shireeps no Tisted at all In total food was haribel my stomach got sick 3 internment it was so poor music was jus 2 hrs a night and the didn't open the salons for musicians so disappointed It was no transportation for even far city no shopping I didn't rely like it Hope the do some improvement for those services.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Not what we aspected

Full of flies in the close buffet section No sprite no ginger ail no soft drinks Coke is just auger water. No gas in it Fruit. Not good quality. Bed sheets were not replaced everyday No spoon served for ice cream. We have to ask on counter for spoon. They were asking where you sitting if you are sitting on left Right section counter won’t give you spoon. Terrible service

Blau Varadero: BlU veradero

Wow, Varadero was a really nice hotel. We really enjoyed the pool and the ocean the food. Well we all know what to expect there, but we have some good meals and slot a good times met some really good people and thanks Martin. Really happy to use you and we will use you again.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Average

Hotel rooms need updating starting to show their age. The water was always hot for showering but there isn’t any door on the bathroom so no privacy. TV connection was very week so hard to watch. Food shortages so don’t expect a lot but pork, fresh fish, pasta, buns, fruit etc were always available but we’re always covered with flys. Shortages on many selections of alcohol but rum, wine and beer were available. Couldn’t get pop on most days. Entertainment was enjoyable and th [... read more]e beach was amazing. Bring bug spray as they are everywhere.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Very beautiful beach

The resort is new and clean, the staff are nice and helpful, the swimming pools there is only 2, the beach is amazing, for the food the only thing was missing and very important is the green salad we spent a week there was never any green salad or tomato, peppers or carrots, cucumber was available only the first day, I am wondering why? But overall the food was great for Cuba they just need to have more varieties. Melia Buenavista: Expensive resort !

Hotel Playa Coco: Great resort

The most beautiful hotel , the grounds are absolutely beautiful and the gardeners are constantly working to keep it that way . It is very clean and you always see the cleaners doing a great job. We were there early September and it was very quiet low occupancy results in some buildings and amenities being closed but we understand this and it didn't affect our vacation at all . Melia Las Antillas: Would NOT recommend!

This is our fourth trip to Cuba. Just returned home from Melia Las Antillas (Sept 7-14/23). We arrived at the resort between 10:30 - 11:00 am on 7th of Sept. Front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. The lovely woman explained that rooms were being cleaned and instructed us to leave our luggage in the front lobby while we went to the buffet, had something to eat and got familiar with the property. We returned at 3:30 as instructed only to be told that our rooms were still not ready. We  [... read more]waited in the lobby until about 4:30 before we were assigned our rooms -3203, 3325, 3327. (Joanne, UK, as you mentioned in your review the condom is still there at 3203). Rooms- VERY dated and in desperate need of fresh paint and new furniture. The maids did their very best cleaning and tidying daily. Fresh towels and 2 bottles of water were replenished daily. We left a 5.00 tip (Canadian) daily. Bathroom - Bathtub looks like it fell off the Titanic. The glaze finish is all but gone. There is a large soap holder attached to the middle of the shower wall that impedes your struggle with not having the shower curtain get stuck to your body as your shower. The shower faucet was loosely attached to the wall. Toilet flushed well and there was a bidet for your use as well. The hair dryer was falling off the wall and wasn't much stronger than a breath of wind. Sleeping area - there are no electrical outlets near the head of the bed for those of you with CPAP machines. We asked for an extension cord and were told basically to turn the mattress around and place the CPAP machine on a chair which could reach an outlet nearby. (You will need a universal wall adapter). We slept upside down (feet at headboard) for the duration of our stay. We brought some skirt and short hangers and some plastic hangers from home which came in really handy. In room safe - worked just fine for storing our valuables. Buffet - Pretty impressed the first day but became very repetitive quickly. Same foods offered at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some days there was no butter, no bread for toast, bland fruit choices, absolutely no tomatoes, lettuce, carrots or vegetables period. Our main staple daily was carb related - pasta, (hot and cold), rice, potatoes. There were some meats choices - beef, pork, chicken but we were leery about the way they are cooked and stored. We did bring KETCHUP, HOT SAUCE, MUSTARD, RELISH, SALT, PEPPER, PEANUT BUTTER, JAM, CHIPS, CEREAL BARS and licorice which came in extremely handy! (Also, don't forget your Imodium, aspirins, etc) which became very helpful to have. The Buffet Grill exhaust fan was not working a few times which quickly lead to a smoke filled room. Doors were opened to help the situation but it did not help. It was not pleasant. The A La Carte Restaurants were all a very nice change from the monotonous choices at the buffet for dinner. Thank you Daylis for making the reservations for us. It was much appreciated. (By the way, they did not enforce the mens dress code -long pants - perhaps because it was so darn hot and humid - even in the evening). Be careful going into the ladies washroom close to the buffet. Only one of four toilets had toilet paper. Again, no soap, no paper towels. Pool - It was no fault of the resorts but the pool water was about 90 degrees - like a warm bath at best - due to the 100 degree temperature. One side of the large pool has a encircling river of water which stinks to high heaven of polluted wastewater - especially when they turn on the three waterfall ornaments at the one end. The smell was so disgusting that the sun lounging chairs around that side were always empty. The water in that area was stagnant, slimy and rancid. Those poor sharks and fish in there! In fact, the smell was so bad one day, my husband asked someone to turn off the fountains which they did. The other side of the pool which is adjacent to the bar and washrooms was much nicer however why they feel the need to blast the Spanish music at 9:00 am is beyond me. We were in the pool speaking to each other and we were shouting. They did lower the sound a few decibels when we asked them to. Speaking of which, the entertainment team worked very hard to make sure everyone had fun but I must say that the short female in the group (Sheila?) got annoying very quickly - we could hear her all the way to our rooms when we were getting ready for supper. I can only speak for the ladies pool washroom - only one of three sinks worked - the other two were broken. No hand soap. No paper towels. One of three toilets did not have a seat. The property is very large and there are many stairs to climb. They do have elevators however. Again, no fault of the resorts but the air was so humid and hot in the evening when we sat in the lobby after dinner. No ceiling fans anywhere. No breeze anywhere. Our wonderful server Ramon did his best to serve us but choices of liquor were very limited. Be careful buying the Cuban Pesos - if you purchase too many, you will be stuck with them. You cannot exchange them back for your currency. We gave tips in American and Canadian however we did purchase about 40.00 (Canadian) worth of Cuban pesos from the shuttle on the way to the resort. Better deal than buying them at the resort. We walked off the property one day and took the hop on hop off bus into Varadero (5.00 American each). The woman handing out the tickets asked for credit cards and we told her that was all we had and she accepted it. (I had read that when some people got home, they were charged two or three times on their credit cards). We also booked a tour of Havana with Alejandro (Cuban Compass Tours). This is the third time I booked Alejandro and once again he did not disappoint. He picked us up in a beautiful '56 Bel Air that was air conditioned. His driver was so accommodating as well. All in all, we managed to have a good time and make some fun memories. Cuba is in a very, very sad state of affairs and I pray that it gets better for the people.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Wonderful Trip

Grand Muthu exceeded my expectations. The beach is simply the best. The staff are fantastic. I had a great room overlooking both the infinity pool and ocean. They never ran out of anything. I met many people who return every year. For the price I paid it was a steal. Remember to buy back toonies and loonies from staff before you leave as they can’t use them. They need bills for the bank.

Hotel Playa Coco: Beautiful resort

This resort is approaching 20 years old but it is beautiful. The gardens were mature and kept in great shape. Most of the rooms have been renovated. While it was at very low capacity when we were there, most of the amenities including the entertainers, were working and open. We were treated amazingly well. The beach is awesome, as you would expect in Cuba, and the pools were nice and clean. We had a great time!! Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Best resort for the Cayo Coco beach!

The resort grounds are kept very clean and the groundskeepers work very hard to maintain the beauty and pleasure of the resort. The nightly entertainment is very good (better than resorts I've stayed at in Mexico and the D.R.) and Carlos does a great job as Entertainment Coordinator. The food in the buffet is of good quality and there was no problem to have omelettes with real eggs, meals with vegetables, salads, chicken, pork, several types of tasty fish, and even beef. Again staff that maintain the beach are very helpful to make sure you have a clean beach and lounge chair ready for you.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Excellent service!

The service we received at Grand Memories was excellent! All of the staff were kind and helpful. The beach is spectacular and the real showstopper! The resort is somewhat run down and many areas need updating and repairs. I heard they’re planning on having this done by the next high season. We requested to move out of building 52 due to black mould throughout the room. Thankfully they accommodated our request right away. The food was not so great, as I imagine resources are limited. The resort is located almost 2 hrs from the airport, which means a lot of time is spent in transit during the trip. Just something worth considering if you’re anxious to get there quickly. The beach, the Cuban people (staff), the coffee, the drinks, the market, were all amazing and we’re grateful that we were able to experience all these things.
