Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Worst Vacation I’ve Ever Had

First off, I found out by joining the Facebook fan page that the Be Live Collection was scheduled to be closed for renovations on the day of our arrival. Then I called my travel agent who was on holidays and her back up wasn’t around. Called the main line: they weren’t aware neither. Finally someone gets intel and confirms. I was told not to worry, Sunwing upgraded us to Jewel Palm Beach. After over a 4hr flight delay due to mechanical issues, we arrive at Jewel Palm Beach and we have no res [... read more]ervation there. They make us go next door to next Jewel. Not there either. I show them my booking itinerary which shows I’m at the Jewel Palm Beach. No Jewel in the vicinity has my reservation. It’s after 3am. No place to go. They phone the Jewel Punta Cana (over 45mins away) and we were there. 100% not where I wanted to be and had a horrible time. Sunwing and my agent will be getting a detailed email from me. Extremely disappointed.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Not as expected

This resort was definitely not what we expected. It says 4/5 star resort but its actually more like 2.5/3. Its almost like a retirement resort with the amount of elderly guests. This isnt a place for young couples/ adults who want a more lively atmosphere. The food was not great and its surprising how minimal the selection was. The rooms were lackluster, very dated and could use some touch ups. There was constantly sales people walking around the resort trying to sell you vacation packages, whic [... read more]h became pushy and annoying. In the evening there was no where to lounge and have drinks. We’ve never seen such poor entertainment… Some nights we found ourselves going to bed early because of nothing to do. The only good thing about this resort was the beautiful location and views of the mountains in the distance.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Surprising resort

Expecting 5-star, Adult ONLY, ALL inclusive resort - however, connected to 5 other resorts. Too large, children nearby, including in restaurants, extra costs for some menu items and drinks, evening shows at other location at a cost. Restaurant reservations had to be made online and not available. A lot of areas where language was a barrier - everything had to be done on apps, which would be good to know ahead of time. Overall, nice and thankful to be away but a little disappointed with it as a whole - initial advertising wasn't forthcoming.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great Resort and Amazing Staff!

We went as a group of 10 friends during the week of April 16 2023 and had an amazing time. We upgraded to the SunClub and it was worth it. The check in process was quick and easy, the rooms were clean, the beach was absolutely beautiful. And since it was in a bay, you could swim in the mornings no problem without big waves. The staff was super polite, friendly, and always helpful. Not the biggest resort but it turned out to be better because everything was close by.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Fantastic resort

Resort was clean, food was good (especially the French a la carte restaurant), plenty of sitting spaces near the beach/pools, staff was very friendly and provided amazing service. Our concierge, Emilio, was excellent - very friendly, helpful and always available to assist us with anything. He brought us champagne to our rooms when we didn’t even ask! Very sweet guy. Regardless I enjoyed my stay and would come again.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Emilio was the highlight of our vacation

We were Xhale Club, so our check-in and check-out were smooth and fast. Our room was comfortable and always kept immaculate. We appreciated the nightly turndown service. Our host (butler) Emilio treated us like queens from the time that we got there until the time that we left. He went above and beyond for us, and he is the #1 reason why we will return to this resort. He is a real gem, and an asset to your company. Please pass along our gratitude to our beloved Emilio. The buffet food was surpri [... read more]singly good! The best that I have had at an all-inclusive. The Strip Grill, Coquette and Spumante restaurants were all very good. The service from all staff was exceptionally great, There are too many to name, unfortunately. The entertainment was lively and energetic. The drinks at the Xhale Club lounge were spot on. There is so much more that I could say, but I will wrap it up by saying that everything was absolutely perfect!

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Awesome resort!

Japanese, sea and see, and Italian restaurants for dinner were all great! just the buffet that wasn’t amazing, but still had lots of options. Front desk wasn’t very friendly, but all other workers were great especially our butler Gabriel. Shows at night were good. Lots of other things to do such as escape room, sports bar, shops, etc.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Best Yet!!

This resort exceeded my expectations!! So beautiful, clean & top notch service in all areas of the resort. I’m a fussy eater and NEVER went hungry, the food was great and ohhh the beef tenderloin was superb!! Now on to the BEST person on the resort, our concierge, Emilio! He made us 4 ladies feel like Queens for the whole week and was always there checking on us and asking if we needed anything and what ever we requested, he would make happen, from dawn until dusk he was always there! Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Barcelo Bavaria Palace

Hotel was very clean. Grounds were well maintained. Staff were very helpful…Lots of selections on the buffet…Restaurants were very good. Beaches were beautiful. Weather was amazing Would definitely recommend to others

Ocean Blue and Sand: Fantastic Resort

The whole experience was wonderful from the food to the staff and everything. The entertainment staff was exceptional with their shows and their friendliness to all the visitors...I would highly recommend anyone to visit the Ocean Blue...I will be back...one small thing was the trolly cars as I am disabled so I waited quite a while for them so that's my only complaint...thank you again!!!!!

Impressive Punta Cana: Very clean

We wish the whole getting to the hotel process went better. We spend 1hr in customs in line getting pushed by other vacationers then 1hr to get onto the bus to get to the hotel. There was one very poor, small sign on a table and no one to direct us to where the bus was. So much confusion with BD staff and us because they seemed to be helping everyone else but us and they didn't know where to send us. Our friends got sent to a room that presently had people in it so had to wait for another room. Was not a good first impression with Trip centrals organization. At the hotel the groundsman, waitresses, waiters, pool/beach and housekeeping staff kept their areas very clean. Constantly picking up dishes, garbage and fallen leaves/debris. I saw the bathrooms being cleaned on multiple occasions. I did feel rushed when in the restaurants and at th buffet. As soon as you were done we had to get out or have staff standing watching you finish your meal or try to anyways. The wait staff at the buffet to seat you were good and always remembered our group and offered us drinks right away. So did the ladies in the coffee shop, they were always happy and quick to get us caffeine.That being said the food at the Mexican and Japanese restaurant was sooooo good. The snack bar was a let down though due to only serving pizza and had hotdogs sometimes. Would have been nice to have more of a variety to choose from and better hours in the morning. If you missed breakfast you had to wait for a bit to get any food and you might get cold hotdogs. There were lots of activities to get involved in and staff who were entertaining to watch and get you into the mood, even at the disco they would be in there dancing with eachother and whoever wanted to, showing off their moves. The night entertainment was fun to watch and had some really talented people to see. They did have vendors on more than one occasion that wanted you to purchase things from them but we're quite pushy at times and were everywhere so unable to avoid which was kind of annoying. Overall for the price it was good but I wouldn't expect anything spectacular if that's what you are looking for. P.S. bring your patience to check-in you may or may not end up looking for another room or walk in on someone in their room. Not many staff spoke or understood English so study your Spanish before you go, unless you speak French you will be ok. Also if you don't like to hang out in the sun all day it will be hard to get an umbrella or shade by the beach, they could have more umbrellas by the pool. Just stay in the water.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Good Resort

Overall just good, not great. Buffet was good, not great. A decent beach area but smaller in size. Lots of locals on the beach(they are public). Nightly enertainment was not good some nights(average to poor overall) they play bingo at 9pm in the enertainment area. Who wants to play bingo over watching a show and music at 9pm. Workers are great Jose at the beach bar was great and Maxwell was in a supervisor role but was awsome he was always making drinks at the pool bar or the beach bar. H [... read more]ad a ocean view room and the view was Amazing!! Exactly what you get for a 4 star resort. Cant ask for much more. Great trip.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Beautiful well kept resort

The best about this resort was the staff. They were all very friendly and accommodating. Loved the beach bar and their staff. Afternoon entertainment amazing. Alacart restaurants great. Pool beautiful and grounds keepers constantly working to maintain lovely plants and flowers. Would revisit next year. The servers at buffet restaurants were awesome and very welcoming. Pizza by the pool a big hit with our group of 12.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Chill Couple Resort

General - This resort is great but it is more for couples. I would not go to this resort as a single traveller. Amenities - There is a party pool, a family pool, a more chill adult pool (older couples, no loud music or entertainment) and smaller jacuzzi pools. There is a Ping-Pong table, soccer pitch (family side), game room (family side), beach volleyball, bocci ball and pool tables available for use. The beach is quite large and has plenty of shade. Food - Food is available 24/7. The food overall is good but we were disappointed by the a la carte restaurants. The only good a la carte restaurants are the Italian and French. The buffet is above average for resort food. Staff - Staff are overall good, however, many appear to be unhappy (this may be more of a reflection of the country rather than the resort). There are some excellent staff so we always tried to interact with these specific staff members and they made sure our needs were well met. If you wish to tip individual staff, you'll need to bring/insert tips in individual envelopes. Otherwise all tips are pooled for all staff to share (this could be another reason why staff are unhappy since tips aren't a reflection of their actual effort). One major complaint is that we were not provided with the "butler" listed on the resort website. We never once were approached by a butler or were even advised about them. Of the people that did receive a butler, they all advised that they saw their butler on the first say and that was it. Very misleading information. Excursions - We went on one excursion to Santo Domingo through WestJet (Swoop). It was by far the worst excursion I have ever been on and it felt like more of a paid sales pitch to buy expensive items from souvenir and jewelry shops. We were told a 5 star lunch would be provided but it was just a buffet similar to what the resort offers. We also did not get to experience Santo Domingo whatsoever. Major disappointment. Overall - Great trip if you are more akin to relaxation.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Very strong 3.5

The rooms were clean and bed comfortable. Food at the specialty restaurants were very good especially at the Fusion. I would recommend the cream of pistachio soup and grilled salmon. Unfortunately, the food especially at the Buffet gets cold quickly and the variety is limited. However, you will not starve. The fried chicken at the Mediterranean for lunch is comparable to KFC. Very good. The staff are hard working and pleasant. As well, the animation team is very active to keep you entertained.  [... read more]Beautiful beach that you can walk for miles. The AC in the Fusion and Seafood restaurants could be improved. It gets very warm. I would also recommend that a dedicated computer and printer be available to assist visitors in completing their Exit Visas 72 hours prior leaving the resort.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Amazing Trip, Great Hotel

We travelled as a group of 12 and we all had an amazing time. The resort grounds are stunning, the beach is beautiful. The ocean was calm and very swimmable (bring water shoes though). Food was decent, the stir-fry station in the buffet was so good. The a-la-cartes were pretty good too, a few had some hit-or-miss meals (an overcooked steak one night etc.). The only minor cons were water pressure in the showers, and you really had to play around to figure out how to work the hot/cold to get it just right, and the room thermostats are set to not get cooler than 25 degrees. Our room was 28 the first night. Some of our party though had rooms around 19! We also golfed 4 times, the staff there were also great. The courses are beautiful, it was a great experience.

Dreams Flora Resort and Spa: Average Joe

Hotel room was clean. Grounds were in good shape, Pools were good, could be cleaned more often. Kiddie pool was not cleaned in the week I was there (leaves, sand etc). Spent more time cleaning ponds then pools. Beach was poor found concrete, Brocken glass, pieces of tile. food was average. Went to the Oceans restaurant for dinner and had only two fish items on menu. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great Resort

It’s a beautiful resort, lovely landscaping, friendly staff - chocolate & vanilla taught me archery skills and I won 3 tournaments in a row, it was a great feeling, enjoyed every minute of my time at this resort. Food was amazing, the housekeeping staff was so nice and friendly too! The only thing i would suggest for the resort to take note of is updating the rooms, especially the bathrooms as they were dated for a 4 star resort. Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great family vacation resort

The hotel is very nice and clean. The grounds are impeccable. The beaches are beautiful with lots of palm trees for shade. The pools are clean. The buffet food is very good with lots of variety. The theatre is lots of fun with great shows. The drinks are plentiful with lots of choices. We didn't enjoy the seafood restaurant, but the Steakhouse, Japanese and Mexican restaurants were good.
