We had a great relaxing time. Staff were kind and obliging. We hung around the main pool mostly. Good entertainment. Good drinks! Trouble with our air conditioning...entire time. We’d go again! Hoping to go again in October. The Japanese restaurant was awesome!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Nice resort
The cabin was very nice and workers were pleasent but the resteraunt and bar ran out of cups and plates and beer on numerous accations . it was hard to find something to eat with. There were 3 dogs on the resort that hung out around our cabin and woke me up fighting and growling and barking every night. It made it hard to sleep.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Worst Hotel In Cuba
Let me start with the good things about this hotel since its not so many. Please take a note that this is my 8th times in Cuba so I knew what to expect.
.Like usual employees in general were very nice and trying to help(Cubans are always nice)
Dancers were working hard for the shows at night
Hotel was clean even if its very old. Pool side was nice and that's it.That's the only good things.
Problem areas
Lets start with the food. Of course you are gonna say its Cuba but I paid way less mone[... read more]y to go to Cuban hotels and ate way better than this place. I seriously believe their head chef should quit his job asap and start looking for another type of job cause you and your team my friend doesn't know crap about cooking. Not only there are no variety or any little changes in the buffet, the things they have cooked to the worst way possible.
Entertainment is Zero. Almost zero activity at the pool side or beach. Also at the beach there are no umbrellas.
Only time you see some activities stuff when around 11 am they come to pool and call it action 11 or maybe I'm wrong it could be action 12 or something. They do 1 little kid game and gone .you wont see them again. They got beach wolley, basketball, water polo nets but they don't have any balls to play .I asked them several times and they say we don't have anyway they said they don't have any but there is a ball appeared last 2 days of my vacation. I guess they were either didn't wanna give me or a traveler left a ball. Still don't get why you have all those nets if u don't have tools to play. Also pool side Dj omg. STOP playing the same music everyday and add that stupid muahhh in every song. He knows what I'm talking about.
And why the hell you have a disco when you don't even use it cause they do their disco outside right next to building where people are sleeping(trust me usually only less than 10 people are there dancing).and trust me music is sooooo loud base is soooo high that you can here it from another hotel. So Dear hotel manager you don't know crap about running this place either. If people are telling you music is too loud every time which were a lot of people complaint and you did NOTHING.I wish you were sleeping in my room to understand how it feels to feel the base in your body while you are trying to sleep at 2 am every freaking time. I still got so many thing to say but I better stop .
One last thing is this is a Melia hotel but Even Melia lost hope in this hotel I'm sure. I mean how can you put your name on a hotel and don't run them like others. Answer is easy Those Board members are looking us Canadians as easy money. They know we go anywhere with pool and sun
I want my money back but of course you cant do that cause need to feed those corporate board members fat stomachs .

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Good Times Await
Especially friendly energetic staff. Good food. The beech is twice the size since the storm! They have done so much cleanup in such a short period of time. Evening shows were quality. Scuba center is just a walk to the next resort and Kite surfing is a walk to the resort on the other side!

Melia Cayo Coco: The perfect getaway
From the minute we arrived until our departure. The hospitality at Melia was impeccable! Fantastic staff, warm, caring, attentive, engaging and made our experience very memorable. Shout out to the staff. Leonardo, Livan, Eddy, Beatriz, Omar, Adonys, Celia, Charles "The Omelette King", Arismandy, Sonia... And all the other behind the scenes that contributed in making this resort as awesome as it is.
Food was the best I had in Cuba. Everything in the buffet was good to great! Rooms were clean. B[... read more]eaches was spotless and gorgeous. We lucked out and got a room in block 87, 30 seconds away from the beach! I hardly pay attention to entertainment usually, but the talent and the program that they offered made it hard for me not to watch almost every performance they have displayed at the resort.
The crowd is definitely much older than I anticipated, but I would definitely go back to Melia if I decided to visit Cayo Coco again.
Thank you again

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Awesome Vacation!
We were a group of 11 from ages 8-62! We had a blast as a family! The food was amazing, the a la cart restaurants were great, and the people were SO friendly! Great place for everyone, including kids games and accessible for disabilities. Rooms were amazing as well. One had to change rooms as it was not up to standard after the hurricane but they were very apologetic. The entertainment was some of the best we have seen at all inclusive! I have already recommended to friends!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Second Visit...Won't be the last!
My husband and I had been to this resort 2 years ago and loved it! We returned last week as a family of 11 and we all had an amazing time. There is no resort where you are treated as respectfully and lovely as the Daiquiri! A special shout out to Samira for once again making our vacation wonderful and Janysa for being the best server you could ask for! Looking forward to returning again to the beautiful beaches of Iberostar Daiquiri!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Amazing!!! We will be back...
This resort is absolutely beautiful and the workers including the gardeners/maintenance work very hard to keep this place clean and beautiful. You can see they were hit hard by the hurricane, but wow they are constantly working to replace damaged items and plants/trees. The lobby bar was very relaxing to enjoy during the day or in the evening for an after dinner drink. There was usually some sort of live entertainment. We loved seeing the cats who call Memories their home, so treat them with[... read more] respect.
Beaches: Stunning, such blue water and white sands. Lots of beautiful shells along the beach.
Pool: I'm not usually a pool person, but the big pool is spotless and clean and the water is so refreshing. The only issue we had with the pool was that you couldn't get a chair, if you didn't race down at 5-6 am to reserve. I had thought there was a Diamond Club area but that's only on the beach. The swim-up bar pool has a low water level and I'm not sure if that's to stop people from sitting at the bar all day and just peeing in the pool, but it was refreshing to cool off.
Food/Restaurants: With some of the reviews we were worried about the food and took lots of spices, however, we were surprised how tasty the food was with flavor and they have lots of spices including salt and pepper, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, hot sauce. The only thing they don't have is peanut butter, so if you can't go without I would suggest bringing your own small jar or packets. Every morning you can have homemade eggs any way you desire including an omelette. The supper buffet is good as well and I highly recommend the cook-to-order fried rice or pasta. The cheese and dried meats (prosciutto, salami) and delicious. The a la carte restaurants for the most part were delicious including the Mediterranean restaurant which had a nice beef dinner which you could cut with a bread knife. The Asian is a must try as well, but we were very disappointed with the Italian. If you are in the Diamond Club you get an additional meal one evening during your stay. As our night was at the Cuban restaurant, we didn't book it separate so did not get a chance to try it as the special Diamond Club dinner is a set menu of lobster and chicken. It is definitely worth it if you are a seafood lover. There is a 24/7 snack bar where you can get coffee, pizza, burgers, fries and of course an open bar.
Room: Spotless, clean and bug free. We were in Building 2, top floor corner room. From our balcony we had a view of the ocean and the entire resort, which was gorgeous. I would suggest requesting Building 1, 2 or 3 closer to the beach and pool.
Entertainment: The Michael Jackson show was spectacular. The Madonna and Beatles was ok but very enjoyable to watch. The dancers throughout the resort were wonderful and the synchronized swimmers were fantastic. Cubans sure know how to dance and are always giving lessons to learn the moves.
People: Are amazing. I never once felt threatened or unsafe and they will bend over backwards to make your stay an enjoyable one. I would suggest taking Toronto Blue Jay baseball hats down or t-shirts of anything Canada, they are so appreciative and love Canadians.
My only complaint of this resort is the drainage system for the toilets. There seemed to be a lot of flooding by the end of the day in the lobby washrooms and at night our room toilet didn't always flush, but this could be due to washing of laundry and dishes by the staff. By morning the pressure was back to normal but can't take too many flushes in a row.
Excursions: We actually didn't do any excursions. The Sunwing desk line ups were way to busy so we didn't want to waste time to just look and chat with the representative. There is a small market about a 5-10 minute walk. There is a larger market a little further which you can either take the bus for $5/person or we grabbed a taxi as there was 4 of us for $25 and the driver waits for you and brings you back. We also one day took a taxi for $80 which was one of the old 1950's cars to Moron. As our taxi driver wasn't very fluent in English he took us to a very nice young man in town who spoke fluent English and who was able to walk us a round the city (I would highly suggest this) as everyone knew him and were not so needing on approaching us and begging. I did take lots of stuff for the children (hot wheels, stickers, colorful markers, crayons, books, bubbles, candy necklaces, candy bracelets and suckers) if you don't expose them out on the street openly, you won't get swarmed. The people are so kind in this town as well. My daughter wasn't feeling too well cause of the hot heat and two older ladies took us into a small museum with air-conditioning and allowed her to cool off, until she felt better, we gave them $5 and they were so appreciative.
The other place I would suggest is a must especially if you are seafood eater is Lenny's Bar and Grill on the beach. It's a small hut on the beach which is about a half hour walk along the beach, but you can take a taxi for $25 return. The food is amazing, the people are spectacular and the view is breathtaking.
We will 100% return to this resort... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK...

Hotel Camino del Mar: Amazing Beach
The hotel is clearly still recovering from the hurricane. However, the beach is what we went for and it definitely delivered. Stunning!!!! The only complaints are that there were rarely clean beach towels for us to Exchange. So in a week we were able to exchange twice. Complaint number 2 is that a lot of the staff did not speak English. Customer service could barely understand us or communicate at all. But I guess that because of the hurricane a lot of English speaking workers left because they [... read more]had to work, so it makes sense.
Other than that the resort is small and cozy. Beautiful grounds and an amazing beach.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: So and So
It's hard to write a review of a place that was so... so...
Before going we had asked for a superior room with new mattresses, away from all the noise and the main building. Needless to say, we did not get a superior room with new mattresses, away from the noise and the fridge did not work either. We were moved on our second day, before lunch, so we wasted half a day on that day. We paid extra to the hotel to get an ocean view room and we got that, but the shower did not work properly with o[... read more]nly a trickle of water. The TV did not work properly and the safe didn't work and the mattress had springs pushing out. The hotel staff worked on replacing the mattress, fixing the TV and fixing the safe. But the shower was still bad. We moved a second time on our fourth full day there to the opposite side of the resort and we got a really nice room finally after speaking with our Sunwing Rep. The hotel staff were ok, but not the friendliest I've met. Some were great, while others were so.. so...
All in all, when escaping to Cuba, be aware of the challenges at some hotel resorts with the accommodations. The people for the most part are friendly, and tips are very much appreciated!
Also, be aware of the food, especially the rancid butter, which can, and did trigger an upset tummy on my last day and into a couple days while back in Canada!
well kept resort except for public washrooms were not properly attended to..did mention to Diamond Club Rep, bars couldn't always keep up to guest demands, sometimes long waits for drinks, friendly, helpful staff, stunning beach with fabulous sunsets, clean up of grounds continuing after Sept'17 hurricane, roof at Cuban restaurant was being repaired..would return to this resort. Questionable value for Diamond Club upgrade

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: We will be back!
This is our second trip to Cuba - the first to Iberostar Daiquiri. We had a fantastic time and will come back here again next year. Our room was in the Trinidad building.
We just returned home today and I felt the need to tell you about our experience.
When we booked our room, we had requested a king size room but when we got there were given a room with two double beds. Luckily enough we met a man waiting to get a room with 2 double beds and we switched rooms immediately upon arrival. We sp[... read more]oke with many other guests that had the same problem so this is an area that needs improvement.
It was very nice that the snack bar was still open as we arrived quite late at night and were hungry. A very nice touch . . .
The room was very comfortable and the views were amazing. Cleaning staff are fantastic and our room was spotless everyday. We were centrally located and everything was within a short walking distance.
We knew when we chose Cuba this year that there may be issues because of the hurricane, i.e. ongoing repairs, lack of ammenities, etc. We were pleasantly surprised at how much work had been completed.
This resort is a small community - it was a pleasure to go early in the morning for coffee in the lobby and spend time with other guests and the fantastic staff. Everyone was friendly and worked non-stop to look after the guest needs. All staff were friendly and courteous but I want to send a special thanks to Vecky, Einer and Fidel for their great service. It was not unusual to hear Vecky singing and laughing with patrons. These workers made you feel like you were among friends and that was wonderful.
Everywhere in the resort the staff is fantastic - from cleaners to gardeners, buffet staff and cooks, bar staff and the entertainment staff. We want to give an extra thank you to Esther for increasing our fun and promoting activities that we might not have joined in on. We especially enjoyed the singer in the lobby on Friday night - he had us all up dancing and singing.
We enjoyed the buffet and the barbeques by the pool snack bar. They had something for everyones tastes. We realize that there are shortages in Cuba but this resort did everything to give it's guests a wide variety to choose from. The only complaint I have is that we arrived after midnight on Saturday and went to book A la Carte the next morning to find that they were booked for the whole week and then spoke to a gentleman that was booked every night at one of the restaurants. We were told we were entitled to all three but could only get into the Mexican restaurant on Friday. The girl taking reservations told us we could go to the chef and see if there was a cancellation - that is not our responsibility. I think allocation of reservations need to be handled in a more equitable manner . . .
The beach here is beautiful and goes on forever . . . We went on the Catamaran excursion which was a wonderful and relaxing day.
All in all - this was a wonderful experience but not long enough - Next year will be ten days instead of seven . . .
