Riu Guanacaste: Great resort

This was a great resort. Very clean, friendly staff, great food. lots of jungle around the hotel with wild life. very secluded and big beach. many excursions and activities near by. perfect location.,

Riu Guanacaste: Rui

The hotel was very adequate for our needs, except there's no shampoo/cream rinse. Unfortunately, the nettles in the water stung me which kept me out of ocean. Pool side loungers were plentiful, activities great. Just need to show up 15-20 minutes early for a la cartes. Restaurants were excellent! Personally, I like to use ocean so I wouldn't recommend this hotel for this reason.

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Fun in the Sun in Cabo!

My wife and I spend 7 days at the Riu Palace in Cabo, and the entire experience was wonderful. The Resort had just recently re-opened after being remodelled. We found the resort in next to new condition. We had a Junior Suite (#1112) which had a gigantic bed, great bathroom, and a nice sitting area. The room was clean, well maintained and the fridge and bar was well stocked. Our room was on the "Activity Side" of the resort, so we could hear music from the Show Lounge in the evening up until i [... read more]t closed at 11pm. The buffets for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner were quite good. There was lots of variety and everything we tried tasted good. We attended all of the ala carte restaurants except the Mexican one. We enjoyed all of them as the food and service was great. We found that the swimming pools were a bit cool, not sure if they were heated???

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort

One of the nicest properties I have ever stayed at. It has the most amazing architecture, manicured grounds and beach front. The staff are very good and the location (PlayaCar) is a great jumpoff spot to many activity areas including the town of Playa Del Carmen.

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Great Resort

The hotel was beautiful! Staff where all nice. Buffet was better then restaurants in our opinion. Beach was beautiful, always chairs! Locals around a lot on the beach. JR in the market down the beach is awesome! !

Riu Palace Mexico: Wonderful resort - repeat guests

We have been here before and will be back again. There was absolutely nothing that we would criticize. One day while we had our afternoon coffee in the lobby Cafe, departing guests came to embrace the employee who runs the Cafe - they were just like family. Waiters in the specialty restaurants exchanged names with their guests and talked about seeing them again "next time". My husband and I are seniors who travel quite a bit and who enjoy quality service, and this was it. Riu Palace Paradise Island: Best trip of life

Food was insanely amazing. Employees were so friendly and happy. Resort was just beautiful. Just amazing. Wow. My first world problem would be the room. The bed isn't the most comfiest. But that's really all.

Riu Reggae: Amazing resort

We arrived at the resort at 11:30 am the check in was fast. The was ready at 2:30 so still had plenty of time to eat and drink. The food was awesome and lots to choose from. The whole resort is well laid out everything is close so no long distance walking. The al a carts did not need reservations and was no problem getting in every night. Riu Palace Antillas: Not a Palace...don't be fooled!!!

This hotel is advertised as Riu Palace....but it is old and dated! The rooms are old, dark and have an old, moldy smell. Everything is dated. We were told that this was the first hotel built in Aruba and even some of the workers admit that it should not bear the title "palace". On our second to last day there, it rained very heavily and there were leaks everywhere. It seemed that there were sewage leaks because the smell near the elevators was unbearable and guests had to hold their noses. St [... read more]aff had to keep mopping up in front of the elevators. The rooms have balconies but you cannot leave the door open because the floor became so wet that you keep slipping. We had to keep mopping up the floors with towels. It was either cold A/C or wet floors. There is a customer service manager who is very useless. He just dresses up on evenings and walks through the dining room. Don't waste your time trying to tell him anything. He is all smiles and very inefficient. The only thing good about this hotel is the staff. Some of the food was good. Long lines to the Steak Restaurant. Very inefficient . Sometimes after lining up for a long time you still did not get a table. Just not up to the standard of a Riu Palace.

Riu Reggae: New resort- rave review!

Start to finish- excellent value. From the superb accommodations, food, drink, activities and the best service of any tropical destination! Loved Jamaica and the people. One love. One heart! I would recommend this resort 100%.

Riu Palace Antillas: Rui Palace Antillas ,Aruba

Excellent service and super staff.The activities are good lots of variety in meals.Recommend Crystal Room for dinner.No reservation , but get there by 6:30 p.m. need to work on that.You get a buzzer while walking around.Buffet plenty of selections .Rooms clean and they are quick to fix anything.Beach clean and great place for adults to go.Nicest people .Would go again.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Beautiful, lush resort

This resort and the staff exceeded our expectations. The grounds were kept lovely and very clean. We asked for joining rooms by the pool; we got exactly that. The hotel is done in a very modern style. The rooms were spascious and very clean. The food was great (lots of seafood). We will definitely return. The only downside were the beds; not comfortable.

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: This is a great resort

This hotel, grounds and beach area are all well maintained. The service beats any resort that I been in the last 5 years. Staff are friendly and always ready to help out in any way. The buffet has great selection and the restaurants all have good selections.

Riu Reggae: Not a 5 star

Our first time in Jamaica AND first time to stay at Riu. Check-in was okay, staff's friendly, they checked us on the ground floor and when I mentioned that we requested a second floor room, they were pleasantly accomodating, though we had to wait the next day to be moved. The room was fine, not what we're used to for a 5 star accommodations. The floor by the sink got flooded every time, we showered, looked like the caulking not done properly. Whenever we go away, watching tv is not really a big deal, but it's nice to have while relaxing and waiting for dinner time, so when we turned on the tv, the reception was poor, so we asked for assistance but no one showed up. We didn't ask again as we didn't want to impose. The hotel grounds in general is fine, considering it's newly opened. Beach was okay, though I stepped on mud patches, heard it was a reclaimed beach. Lots of loungers, no complaints on that. Pools always crowded, which was not a concern to me as I prefer the beach. Buffett restaurant was okay, though we're quite disappointed to the lack of seafood choices, we're in the Caribbean after all. Some fruits served we're not ripe, pineapples we're pale, hard and tasteless, same with soursop. Went to the specialty restaurants and they were disappointing as well. Being familiar to different cuisines here in the GTA, I find their food pretentious. Also, every time I asked for a rosé with my dinner, I was told either they don't serve it or they ran out. At Kulinarium, I was told they don't serve it but then I saw a guy with a glass, and pointed it out, to my surprise, I saw bottles being chilled in the stands. Being non-white, am I being discriminated? The jerk chicken from the hut was great compared to the buffett restaurant's. Watch out for the bartenders, they don't put all the ingredients that's on the cocktail menu. We had the misfortune of using their medical services but we were treated very well by the crew involved. One thing for sure, the Jamaican people that we encountered on this vacation were wonderful! We will definitely go back to Jamaica, though we'll stay somewhere else. Over all, I rate this hotel 3 stars, the staff get 5 stars. I'd recommend other places before this hotel.

Riu Republica: Great times👍

We had a grest week at Riu Republica Very good food Good service, people very nice! Organisation is good We would go back! The hotel doesn't have a bank or places to exchange money 25 minures to go to bank But next time we woyld bring morei guess Also the little shopping mall 5 mins from there, free transportation but they really push for you to buy so be careful!

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Truly a 5 Star Resort !

This is truly a 5 STAR RIU PALACE ! We travel extensively to Mexico and the Caribean and we know what the Star ***** rating system means and this is a 5 STAR. Each Riu team member goes the xtra mile to make sure you are happy, enjoying the resort and that if there is anything they can do they will. Food is really good, tasty and excellent choice. Lobster served twice in main buffet and always at the Chilis restaurant in the evening and the Lobster is truly delicious. Located on a beautiful long  [... read more]soft white sandy beach you can enjoy a beautiful walk right into Playa Del Carmen which you can also walk to by sidewalk in this community. Rooms and hotel is a palace and all is very clean, palacial and good. Entertainment staff is very good and you can either participate or be a fly on the wall people watcher. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and yes we would go back in a minute.

Riu Flamingos: Good Resort

We had a few minor problems, our room had not been cleaned before we got there and our mini bar was not restocked until we asked. They cleaned the room while we grabbed a bite to eat so it was relatively a minor problem. Most of the staff were excellent with only 1 or 2 exceptions, also minor and that could just be the language barrier as we do not speak Spanish. The hotel and grounds are also well kept. Watch out for sand fleas and ants at the beach! Overall a good stay.

Riu Santa Fe: Great Resort

Fantastic resort, overall. Extremely clean and well maintained, amazing food (only issue is that it was extremely hard to get into a specialty restaurant for dinner because they didn't take reservations and only one of four were open per evening. In any case, buffet was always on point as a backup dine in spot. Beach was nice (sand hard on feet and waves were high) and water was cold but tolerable because sun was so hot during the day. It was cold (sweaters and track pants) by night. Gym was oka [... read more]y but not the best - missing dumbbells, and machines weren't all functional but good enough to get a reasonable workout in. Staff was really great (some extra helpful and personable even) and for those cautious about theft, just be smart about your belongings and keep an eye on things.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Good but....

We have been to other Riu''s but this one did not live up to it's name. We were in room 823. It was close to all amenities. The room was damp, musty and moldy. The air conditioning was not working. My husband suggested looking at the filter. When the vent was opened and the filter exposed, there was at least an inch of filth clogging it. It took 20 minutes to clean and 5 days for the room to clear of the smell. On the weekend they allow Dominican residents to come in. They were loud, rude to t [... read more]heir own people, but in line and push you out of the way, drunkards and had no consideration for other guests. It was not nice. There is an Internet room to the left of the front desk. The food was repetitive but no one got sick. Always hamburger's, hotdogs, french fries. Not a lot of vegetables but enough to get by. The wine is watered down and tastes like it is coming out of a pop dispenser. The chairs are so tight together at the pool that it is hard to sit on one without touching another person. It is a great place for people with disabilities because everything is very level. The red flag is always up because of the rocks and waves at the beach. There is no reservations for the a la carte restaurants so you have to wait on the sidewalk at 6:30 each night to see if there is enough seats for you to eat there. It just was not what we have experienced at other Riu''s.

Riu Santa Fe: Nice Pools/Terrible Food

The good- very clean, nice pools, beautiful views The bad- food was far, far below standard, that was if you were lucky enough to find a restaurant open. Rarely was there ever more than 1 restaurant open per night. Bars in the main open area where empty because they never were open until later in the night. The sports bar food is simply not suitable for any person to consume. A large resort normally is not a problem however when most bars/restaurants are closed it was very annoying. The vodka i [... read more]s like rubbing alcohol so don't expect top shelf. Staff were not organized when it came to check out. If your leaving flight is later in the day Riu does not offer a room to hold your luggage. You put it in the main open lobby area and staff won't watch it. As a result we carried laptops/passport/valuables with us for 5 hours. Sunwing was delayed several hours leaving as they had a mechanical problem and had to get another plane. The plane was so old that the armrest had built in ashtrays and forget the movie option as that didn't work either. Don't expect to eat anything on a 5+ hour flight unless you have a credit card (no cash excepted). On the way back we were delayed again on the tarmac for over an hour at 2 a.m.
