Memories Cayo Largo: Best 3.5 star in Cuba with a 5 star beach, interior bar, clean rooms and great dance shows.

Vacationed here from May 26th - June 2nd. Now if you want a smaller simple nice resort with a great beach, social interior bar with warm ambience, clean rooms, great dance shows and good service then this is the one for you. 5 minutes from the airport and you have arrived! No time wasted in transit. This combined with an 11 am arrival make it a true 7 day vacation. You get all the basics well done at the Sol Cayo Largo. The beach has powder coral sand which does not get hot underfoot! Cayo Santa Maria often get jellyfish but rarely here. The awesome section of beach is often wavey but can be still at times. As someone who enjoys bodysurfing I got my fill on short run near beach break waves. Tons of beach chairs and umbrellas. The room air conditioning was a new modern up to date Westinghouse unit witch worked perfectly! Staff were nice, keep some Cuban dollars for tips. The average Cuban wage is $25 a month, so a Cuban dollar tip is greatly appreciated! Water pressure is low but that was ok considering this is an island I am glad they conserve their water. Food is 3.5 star Cuban, no fresh veggies because everything must be shipped in but I was satisfied to find something I liked in every meal. I really enjoyed the evening dance shows, the best I have seen in Cuba, with really beautiful dancers with a pro ballet repertoire and nice choreography. This resort, and I am a bit conflicted to write it as it will drive up the price, is a best kept secret among its fans. I met many many guests who were repeat guests. Several claimed 10 times, one couple 40 times another woman 35 times. That is the best testimony I can give to this resort.

Melia Las Antillas: Beautiful resort!

The beach was beautiful with soft sand. I think the beach was better than Cancun and my daughter said even better than Hawaii. The resort staff were very friendly. For service I could give 5 stars but there was one lady from the restaurant (juice section) that was rude. The room was clean with good airconditioning. The food was good but it could be better if there was some hot salsa (salsa picante). Overall I give 4 star.

Paradisus Varadero: Great Resort, plenty of pools and restaurants - Family concierge a must

This hotel is suitable for everyone specially for families with kids. 9-5 Kids club and babysitting for $10/hour after 5.Family Concierge Package is a must, you get access to the private area and very good service. You get a personalized assistant to help you with all your needs. Our baby had his puree delivered to the room for lunch and dinner so we did not have to worry about baby at all. Plenty of pools everywhere, in the standard area and more in the family area, splash pools for kids and al [... read more]so swim up pools around the family concierge bungalows. They have so any pools but they should have at least one of two with some shades for babies. All pools were totally exposed to the sun, with no shaed whatsoever, we had to search a little corner near the pool bar for some shade. They should at least put more shade on the kids pool/splash area. Same with the beach, the beach was amazing, clear sand and clear water. Only complaint would be the shade again. We were first hesitant about travelling with baby to a resort but after we arrived we saw no problem. Just make sure you bring baby sunscreen and repellent for mosquitos. In terms of food, this resort has 7 ala carte restaurants which were pretty good. Reservations were done by our buttler so was very easy. There are 2 buffets for lunch, not much variety but ok for Cuba. the only bad thing was that there were cockroaches in the buffet and restaurants. My wife spotted a couple on the buffet wall and in the restaurant bathrooms, cant imagine how the kitchen are since the heat is more intense in there. Also birds eating the buffet since one of them is in the open. Other than that, resort was great and definitely would return with my kids. I recommend this resort especially for families with kids and babies.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: A wonderful hotel!

I have twice visited this resort. Relatively close to the airport. Beautiful landscape. Comfortable and spacious cottages. Beach with soft sand. Live music and premium liquor ... everything is involved for an excellent holiday.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: I enjoyed my stay

I enjoyed my stay, from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. I would recommend that the food was good, much better then any other resort in Cuba. But they should give it more of a variety at the buffets.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Disappointing service

Upgraded​ $ 800 US to royal service treatment . Very dissatisfied with lack of service after paying so much to upgrade . Rooms were beautiful on royal service side . Beach and nature was beautiful . Food was very dissapointing. Barely ate all week . Very "cliquey" with all the proper service being given to returning well known guests.

Sol Palmeras: Great First Visit!!

This was my first vacation to Cuba and to an all-inclusive. I had been told the food was not good in Cuba however was very surprised at the quality, taste and the selection. The large buffet restaurant at this resort had so much to choose from and in addition there were 5 other specialty restaurants. The beach was by far the best I have been to with the exception of the Grand Cayman Islands. The water was gorgeous and the beach was clean and staff were always on duty picking up plastic cups and [... read more] garbage. The room was clean and beds very comfortable. The only negative would be that the room was in need of some repair and the hallways and lobby had little to no air conditioning which made it uncomfortable. The staff however was so friendly, helpful and willing to do whatever they could to make your stay enjoyable. I would go back to this resort again!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Royal Service - newer buildings are great

The hotel and grounds are very nice. Beach is beautiful and pools in the Royal Service area are clean and relaxing.... that's because it's not crowded. If you want more party times, stay in the non-Royal Service section. Food is actually good, but I'm not picky. You go to Cuba for the beach, not the food. The hotel staff are all wonderful and friendly. Yes, you should tip them. They are very appreciative and work long hours. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: We really enjoyed ourselves here!

Like all resort reviews, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but here is our synopsis: - Great staff - very willing to service from front desk to lobby bar to restaurants. Never had to wait more than a few minutes for any assistance - Food in general was very good. But really we are talking about the equivalent to a Box spring being used as a mattress. - Beach was fantastic! - Gym was okay BUT desperately needed air conditioning or at very least, some fans to cool off patrons. - Pools nice but too small and much too shallow - Entertainment was excellent! - hardly any moquitoes to speak of, they spray the resort regularly to keep them at bay. But they are worse in my backyard in the summer so overall pretty good. - Spa service were AMAZING - very talented staff!

Memories Cayo Largo: Heavenly ! Sol Cayo Largo Resort !

I highly recommend this very lovely resort hotel. We booked dinner reservations at all the restaurants,Trinos, Ranch House, International cuisine & Lobster on the beach dinner The food was excellent,with a variety of fruits, vegetables, salads, fish and meat dishes & desserts, to choose from. We especially enjoyed the Lobster on the Beach, which I highly recommend. The grounds of the resort are very nicely kept, with beautiful flowers & coconut palms everywhere. Service is excellent. The Pool is beautifully maintained. Enjoyed the swim up bar , and restaurant overlooking the pool & the cuban music. Food service by the pool is fast & most enjoyable as well. There is also a cafe open 24 hours, for morning or evening cappuccino, drinks etc....which overlooks a fish pond, & pool, which I very much enjoyed. Service was excellent, and the reception was very friendly & helpful.

Memories Cayo Largo: Needs a lot of renovation!

We've been going to this hotel since 12 years and we find that more than 60% of the people comes back to this place. We find that since Melia took over, the quality of the food, hotel rooms has declined. The hotel needs renovations but when they do it, they paint it all white taking off all the charms of the colors before. Even the doors for the closets and fridge are taken off. There's no more kleenex or small towels in thenrooms we had vegetables and fruits in cans for the buffet. It's sad to see that cause the hotel is wonderful and the beaches are beautiful. We really think that it's time to choose another place cause it looks like they won't change much cause they know that the clients comes back again and again. So I invited everybody to send their remarks on the hotel because a lot of people have made comments on the week but it stops there!

Melia Marina Varadero: Very good value

Very good value package (around 1000$) for Cuba. Hotel is 4 years old, could use some minor maintenance (sinks draining slow, cabinet doors not closing, bridge over road with cracked planks) but no major worry signs or fun breakers. Room was cleaned daily, fridge stocked, A/C worked good. Food was repetitive but tasty and for the price was great. A la carte restaurants are OK with the french being best and others just trying to keep up with their theme. Pool is clean but is like being in a melting pot as the wind does not blow through. Beach is nice but small compared to the size of resort and across the road on a 4-5 min walk or 2 min with the shuttle cart. Bars are good with all the bartenders knowledgeable and fast. The best bar is the lobby which has the only espresso machine. Five star goes to all Cubans working at the resort for their efforts. Expect all the trips in and out of resort to take the most (1hour 20 min to airport) as the resort is the last in the Varadero peninsula and buses stop at all other resorts to pick and drop people off. Day trip to Havana colonial is worth the money if you buy it in the plane and if you like to see old buildings ( some of them that are not in their best shape due to neglect). Excellent guide Kenya. Was fun and our best Cuba holiday so far.

Hotel Vigia: A few simple things can make this a 5 star

This resort is 21 years old and loved by its staff, it may lack a few things, for example, an extra a la carte restaurant, a bigger or an outdoor exercise area and scooter rentals, to be truthful there are plenty of services available to help keep you busy at a decent cost, horse back riding, bus services to other resorts, jeep excursions etc if you like to cycle bring your own bike or if roller blading is your thing then bring em, this resort is and its neighbors are becoming great kite surf [... read more]ing zones so you can try that and test your athletic abilities, the place is not perfect and not bad, the staff are hard working and as it's known Cubans love thoughtful gifts wether woman's things or men, especially children stuff, shoes are welcome big or small the list goes on if your the frugal type you'll sympathize and think it through fine, I like the shallow beach water even though the wind tends to bring in high tides it's still tolerable and cool to feel the breeze in the sun ...

We have been to Cuba several times and I have to say this was the best Cuba vacation yet. The hotel, the food, and of course the beach were all great. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends.

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Great week!

Enjoyed our stay at the Sol. Great service, good food, great beach. The rooms and grounds need to be renovated and upgraded. Areas around the pools where cement is broken and makes it dangerous to walk. Lots of light fixtures broken around the complex, hard to see at night but overall a great week and good value for the price.

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Good Value!

Oldest hotel in Cayo Santa Maria.The infrastructures all need some updating and some TLC. Beach is great, lots of chairs, lots of palapas for shade. Great service all around, great staff. Awesome week.

We really enjoy our vacations in Varadero! It was my first time and I was impressed with this resort! The room was amazing! Clean and beautiful! All the amenities modern and very clean! The staff, very friendly, happy and helpful! A++

Paradisus Rio De Oro: always a good time

Great hotel, very consistent and good service. Love the pool bar for Happy Hour! The beach could use a few more shelters for those who want to enjoy it but not be in full sun. There is always good food at the snack bar or even the Buffet. The Japanese restaurant is always our favorite, but all the 4 restaurants do a very good job. The rooms are kept clean and the rooms with the renovated bathrooms are nice. Hopefully the will get the rest of the rooms done soon.
