Brisas Guardalavaca: Average Resort

We have vacation in Guardalavaca Brisa’s Villa during the third week of January 2015. Our Villa on the second floor was very specious and the chamber-maid has done a good job cleaning and was very friendly. Main cafeteria and specialty restaurants have provided good variety of quality food for the whole family and the staff was also very friendly. I did encounter a problem with Pizza counter in 24 Hour Bar. When we came back from an excursion at 5:20 pm, I asked for a pizza since they were ope [... read more]n till 6 pm. At that time was told that it was too late because they had many orders and then noticed that someone else has asked for a pizza at 5:30 pm in Spanish and was able to get it. I have reported this incident to the front desk but have not heard back. On the last day after checkout at 4 pm I asked for pizza again and while waiting for my order I have noticed that majority of the made pizzas and many hamburgers was being placed in bags and taken home by people on the day pass. That’s probably why I was unable to get the pizza at 5:20 pm. Another problem was with the beach chairs. For the whole week we were unable to get a chair on the beach. My husband on his morning walk has noticed that people been putting towels at 7 am on the chairs or have the beach cleaning staff reserve it for them by placing books or other articles. And in many cases these chairs were not used for most of the day. A little better planning should have been done by the resort so everyone could have a place to sit on the beach while they were on the beach.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great Resort!

This was my first time in Holguin, or in Cuba, or indeed anywhere in the Caribbean. And to top it off I went solo - so I really didn't know what to expect. After some investigation on the internet I decided that this one was the best value for the money but worried it may have too cheap. I needn't have - the hotel and country turned out great and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Another excellent visit to the Blau!

Just back from an excellent week (January 9 to 16) with a group of 8 family members. I had been here in April, had a great time, and decided to bring my family back to the Blau in Cuba, for it’s great beaches, wonderfully friendly people, hot, sunny weather, and the food. The food is better than any other Cuban resort I have stayed at. If you can't find something on the buffet, then you are just too picky. We enjoyed lunch three times at the Italian restaurant, which served excellent pizzas and pasta, made fresh to order. (The bolognese sauce on penne was my favourite!) Other group members raved about the margarita pizzas. There are several a la cartes to choose from(Cuban, Italian, Spanish & French) get the upgrade, it's worth it for the VIP bar alone. With the upgrade to VIP you get extra choices of restaurants too, and for returning guests, a lovely VIP dinner by the pool. Our group was in buildings 16 and 18 - a good central location, but there is lots of walking thoughout the resort. Very close to the VIP pool and beach. The beach is beautiful, and you can walk a long way in front of other resorts. Yes, the beach is a bit rocky, but you can navigate through the rocks easily. Two sand bars make hanging out lots of fun, jumping waves. Be sure to set up near where the paddle boats are and the catamarans. Easy to maneuver through there. There were lots of fish to see, even close to the shore without goggles! We met lots of great, fun minded Canadians who made our stay excellent along with a lovely lady from England. We had the pleasure of meeting Sam from Acton, and taking him out on the paddle boats several times as well. Most activities are on the beach during the morning, and the action switches to the main pool area in the afternoon. Leo the bartender at the swim up bar is the best! And Yannis at the beach bar - always a smile at the ready. At night he could be found in the disco too. The disco opens at 11:00 every night, and closes at 2 am. Be sure to make sure to request your favourites or make a play list – both DJ’s we met were very accomodating and put our songs on right away. By the third night we didn’t even have to ask for them. The staff at the 24 hour snack bar were wonderful! They were friendly, professional and happy in their jobs. Check in was easy and the front desk staff were very polite and professional. We also never had any problem exchanging money at the front desk. Wendy and Julie in Public Relations are both excellent at their jobs and Wendy went over and above when needed. I agree with a fellow passenger that any bad reviews you read are just bad attitudes. For the price and the staff alone, the Blau hits the mark right on. Service! Food! Amenities! Beach! We had a great time overall for sure. The only negative experience was no movie on the Cubana airlines flights. You may want to book another airline….

Playa Costa Verde: Relaxing Stay

We had a great week at PCV. It was our 3rd time to Cuba but our first to Holguin. The staff were top rate, the food better than anywhere else we've been, the rooms were ok, the beds were a little uncomfortable. My only complaint would be the lack of traditional Cuban music which is one of the reasons we love Cuba! The entertainment in the evenings just wasn't our thing, fashion shows and cheesy performances but all in all a good cheap and cheerful holiday. Playa Costa Verde: great place

the people are so very friendly. and it is so clean got clean towels every time you needed them this was our fourth time there. and we will go again We loved the Japanese restaurant they make it fun it is a pleasure being there

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Nice spot.

The new pool was beautiful! The rooms were fairly new and housekeeping did an excellent job. The food for Cuba was especially good, both the buffett and al a carte restaurants. Beautiful beach with lots to do.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Awesome time!

For a 3 Star Hotel, it was a fantastic deal! Though we did bonus out on an awesome room... I'm not sure our stay would have been as great if we had gotten a different room. I know friends from my group (there were 9 of us), had issues with a few things... but like I said, we got lucky!! THANK YOU!!!

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Very good location

Our 3rd time because it is very good location, very friendly hotel staff (not eager to be tiped for whatever reason), no jinerismo. For quiet holidays this hotel is perfect. But this hotel is really overpriced (hotel is pretty old_not renovated and really a 3*** hotel)

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful,healing,relaxing!

That's what come to me after coming back from this vacation!It,s relaxing resort!Beautiful gardens,food,and music!And don't miss beautiful healing Spa!! One minus ....rocky beach;( but pools are nice!

Brisas Guardalavaca: Simply amazing

love this resort, I have been their 4 times and the friend I travelled with has been there 9 times! Need I say more? The beach area is amazing, for those who prefer the pool also amazing, the food is fantastic.

Brisas Covarrubias: A good resort

Secluded and relaxing resort. Great if you just want to lay on the beach. Very nice large salt water pool. Rooms were clean but basic. Good buffet, a little repetitive but still lots of choices. Staff were all very helpful. Great drinks at the lobby bar and Havana Club bar.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beyond Friendliness

What a beautiful place to come and relax. The food was more then I expected for a Cuban resort. The variety of meats and desserts were amazing. The pizza that they made was my favourite for lunch. Their latte's were my favourite. The staff was so pleasant and aimed to please you at all times. Our first night I found hard due to the smell of mould which caused my asthma to flare up. In the morning I expressed my concern and they said no problem we will have a room for you at 2 pm today. At 2 pm m [... read more]y room was ready and was wonderful. After a couple of days on the bed we found it to be quite hard and I could feel the coils. We expressed how much we love the resort, it is very clean and they have lovely staff but the bed is hard. They had foam toppers on by that afternoon and we slept like babies the next few days. What resort is willing to go to the end degree to please their customers. My husband snorkels and he says it was great plus the Scuba is included in your package. Their was ample lounge chairs and the Yoga was pleasant and relaxing, which Elizabeth did a great job. Anna Bella is a wonderful girl who taught dancing. Their were many pleasant workers, sorry I don't remember all their names. But thank you for giving us a relaxing time at such a wonderful resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Friendships rekindled

It amazes me how friendly the visitors and workers of the resort have been. Club amigo surpasses others resorts in making you feel welcome each year and wants to make you come back. My friends met for the second time and loved the entertainment, a la carts, bright new colours , sports, and surrounding life of Cuba.

Great friendly staff , kept very clean , great location , very safe ,the public relation takes care of any issues you may have , excellent place for low budget people and for relaxation , I am going back and recommend it .

Playa Costa Verde: Great Holiday Resort

We had a great stay at this resort. The standard room is spacious. Disappointed that the TV was a standard one and not a flat screen as my HDMI equipment could not be connected to it. The grounds are kept in amazing condition and all of the staff are just awesome. The pool is huge and has a swim up bar. Lots of seating around it as well and always something going on pool side. I would have thought it would have been the best as we are in Cuba? The buffet is pretty typical of any resort, average selection, average food. There are a few stations where they will cook pancakes, eggs or omelettes for you, well worth the wait. There is pretty much some sort of entertainment going on each night either in the Open Air Amphitheater or the Lobby. The Open Sports Bar is a nice size with pool tables and a nice selection of food. The Beach is just great with lots of shade umbrellas. The Beach Bar is just set back from the water and has some snack food available around lunch time. If you are looking for a better lunch the Cuban Restaurant is open to anyone for lunch always and just off the beach and the sports bar is not much further. The biggest complaint I have is the lack of washrooms. They should be marked on the map so you can easily find them. There is not one a the beach, which makes not sense to me at all, so you have to walk all the way back to the Cuban Restaurant. Overall we had a great vacation here.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great resort

Everything in walking distance. Great location. Clean rooms. The snorkeling was great, just 200 ft from the beach. Beautiful corral reef and lots of fish. The staff was great. The entertainment was different every night and went on for about 2 hrs. We had bands and a verity of shows. Enjoyed them all.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: loved this resort.

First if all 10 stars goes to the service....food was fabulous. Can't go wrong with a resort being on a cliff and still steps away from the ocean. Would go again and again. Amazingly beautiful........

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful Beach!

This was our first visit to Cuba, and we were not sure what to expect. The resort more than met our expectations. The rooms while dated were comfortable, the lobby area is very welcoming and a great place to have a cappuccino after dinner. We were warned about the quality of the food and lack of spices, but we were pleasantly surprised! There was a great selection of food and it was very tasty. Loved the omelette and smoothie bars at breakfast. Loved the pool area and spent many hours there. The [... read more] beach is incredible, although a little rocky on the way in, the water is crystal clear and it's absolutely beautiful. We found all staff members to be super friendly and very courteous. We travelled as a family and on arriving found that our rooms were not adjoining but this was cleared up immediately with a call to the front desk. My only advice would be to update the bathrooms as they are looking very tired and not functioning very well.All in all we loved our vacation and will certainly be back!

Playa Costa Verde: Excellent vacation!

Very good rooms. There were newlyweds, couples with young kids, elderly and disabled people which is great. Everyone felt comfortable. The territory is very clean and the staff is friendly and professional. Entertainment and activities were fun and different each day. Good trips from the hotel. Very clean and quiet ocean.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Better tan average for Cuba . Staff great

Resort was clean and very well maintained. Pool and beach awesome. Staff very kind. Sunwing rep great .. Food was Luke wArm at best, and we both got stomach issues after eating If your looking for sunshine, safety and to drop a few pounds definately go to Cuba...plane was delayed 2 hours leaving and 1.5 leaving. Really for no reason
