Roc Barlovento: Awesome resort

I loved everything about my stay the food was good, the staff was helpful and the beer was cold Can’t wait for next time Cuban people are so nice and know how to party I have no complaints at all See you next time

Playa Caleta: Worst resort ever

Nobody told us that this was a Russian hot spot while booking. Our trip central travel agent could have mentioned this to us as I’m sure she had some sort of idea that it was like this. Being 5 young women going on a grad trip here was a huge mistake. We only met maybe 4 people that spoke english and the majority of people were middle aged Russian men which was not the atmosphere we were looking for. There was a pungent smell of bleach coming from one of our rooms and black mold in the showers, with little pressure. This place was so awful that you could not pay me to go back. After 1.5 days there we spoke to our sunwing representative and were able to upgrade to a different resort which was worlds better. They say you get what you pay for, but we paid far too much for such a terrible place.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Love This Place!!!!

This was my third visit to Tainos and it was as good as the first.. The resort is clean and the personnel are very friendly and helpful. The food is very good and has something for every taste, including vegetarians. Would highly recommend It!!

Barcelo Solymar: Okay resort

I’ve been to Cuba a few times and Barcelo was not too bad in my opinion. The only complaints I have are that they lack entertainment at the beach and just in general the entertainment was not as good as other resorts. The hair dryer in my room was not working, I called them everyday and even went to the fromt desk to ask for replacement. They continuosly promised me that they will send smebodg but never did. Aftee a few days of complaining I gave up. Our housekeeping was not as good either, we [... read more] had stuff go missing from our room. One day our room was mopped however the bed was not made, and one day it was not cleaned at all. There was also a lack of towels, imagine wiping urself down with face towels, not good.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Excellent

We were at the resort in April , The beach and the ocean were beautiful and warm . The rooms were nice and clean , The room maid would come every morning and clean and make our bed . The bar staff were always close by to get you drinks . The buffet food was pretty good and different choices every day . The resort and grounds were very well maintained over all 9/10

Melia Marina Varadero: OK, but not the service I expected

Have been to Cuba many times before, but was disappointed with this hotel. Small things like lack of signs pointing to the lobby in the stairs. Big things like one room out of two having bad mold problems in the air conditioning. I never have problems with the food in Cuba, but they were skimpy in bringing things out which then led to guests taking lots and lots of food which led to it being wasted, and even more shortages. A classic feedback loop. Food at beach snack bar was a small  [... read more]subset of the main buffer. The real service problem was at the snack bar, taking forever for getting a drink or food. On the last day we showed up 90 minutes before our bus wanting to get food before departure, told them we were leaving and we even had some small carryon cases with us. Most food was unavailable and what we got arrived with a few minutes to spare. The good parts: breakfast at the snack bar was good, ad we enjoyed breakfast on the balcony in the main meeting. Beach was good, and it was easy to get drinks. The walk to the beach was not as far as it looks on the map, with the bridge it is fine. You can always hop on to a ride, but there are not a lot of them, especially during rush hour.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort

The hotel was beautiful, service was great. Rooms were always tidy. There was a lot of selection with the food, which was great. All staff was very helpful when needed, and very friendly. My experience was great.

Melia Marina Varadero: Very good resort. I would return to it.

This resort is in a very beautiful setting. You have views on all sides of the ocean and on 1 the pool and the other the marina. The rooms are large and the maids do a wonderful job. Upgrading to the Level has it little perks and some are worth it. They make amazing café latte and are always smiling. You order food from the menu and not have to stand in line and they always have little snacks available if you just want something light. It has free Wi-Fi and the best connections. The staff at the little beach bar is amazing and so is the grill where you can get grilled burgers, hot dogs and chicken. The buffet. I have mixed feelings about this. The breakfast (omelets) are very good and plenty of ingredients you can add to. As for lunch and dinner I feel they should keep the seafood and the rest at different setups because of allergies. I realize there is different spoons every where but you know people they are lazy and use the same spoon for different dishes. Also I think the food can be hotter. At the dinner setting it all depends on when you go there is different things. The pasta selection was very good. I feel that everyone entering the buffet should be forced to sanitize there hands. As for the a la carte restaurants I was not impressed with them. Overall I would not hesitate to return to this resort even though they need to do some renovations. I never had a problem with the staff and they are very friendly and cheerful.

Excellent facility! Very clean and. I concierge was excellent. Buffet was good.. lots of selection and à la carte were delicious( portion of main course small at times) pool was beautiful and beach was amazing

There was a lot of choice for food, the beach was beautiful, the resort was clean and there was plenty of room. The service was great and fast the the entertainment was good. The staff could have been more informative and different bars and restaurants were closed when it was during open hours.

Playa Caleta: Accurate Past Rating

The Gran Caribe Puntarena Playa Caleta is composed of two separate hotels; Puntarena and Playa Caleta. I've seen various reviews which had said that Playa Caleta is a lot better than Puntarena. My family stayed at the playa caleta and I would have to say that the previews reviews were pretty accurate. The first two floors were composed of the lobby, the bar, different restaurants and the buffet. The food wasn't too bad although the only complaint that I had was that it was pretty much the sa [... read more]me thing for lunch and dinner at the buffet. They serve a lot of pork. I highly suggest that when you get your food, get something off the grill like beef, or omelet - The pasta wasn't too bad either and they cooked it in front of you. They always had a shortage of spoons, ketchup, and ice cream bowls. On the first day we ate at the puntarena which had a long lineup and lots of flies which compared to the playa caleta they had less flies and a couple for birds which flew into the restaurant. When going for any meals I highly suggest that you go in the middle or towards the end of the mealtime that way its less busier and food comes quicker. The staff inside the buffet were very kind. The a la carte restaurants on the other hand were a bit different. In order to have a meal there you need to reserve. Each time we asked for shrimp they never had it but in contrast it was nice to have something a little different from the buffet. The facilities such as the washrooms were okay. The lighting within the hotel in general was very dim. This was the same in our personal washrooms and the washrooms outside of our rooms. The doors were either missing, didn't close, or didn't have locks. There was rarely soap. From this I highly suggest going to your room to do your business. The hotel allows smoking, but thankfully the windows and doors are open for the most part (they have big windows). The unfortunate part of this is the second hand smoke which affect the kids and the people who don't smoke. The bar wasn't too bad but I suggest bringing a travel mug since their cups are very small and the lineups get really long quickly. The rooms were pretty nice for the most part however there were a few things such as rusty towel bars/rods for using towels, not always being left a water bottle by the cleaners, dim washroom lights especially in the shower, and only one room key. In contrast, the AC was working just fine, they provide you with a working fridge, a TV with only two channels, extra blankets and pillows, an ash tray, hangers, and a mini safe. They had three elevators and only one of them worked. The wifi was 1cuc/hr and the sad thing was that you couldn't use the wifi in your room but on the first or second floor, closest to the middle of the hotel. The people there were pretty nice for the most part especially people in the buffet. The beach is right in front of the hotel so if you get the balcony which faces the ocean the view is beautiful. We didn't swim in the pool however there were people there which means that it was somewhat useable. The best part of the stay here were the beaches and the open bar. I suggest bringing card games and downloading lots of movies if you get bored easily. On the other hand the majority of the guests were Russians who didn't have any manners and were just generally rude, wether it was to the other guests or the the workers there.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort

The resort was beautiful. The beach was fantastic. The pool bar employees were awesome. Housekeeping came 3 times in 8 days and had to call all 3 times. But most of all the food was horrible. I would not return because of the food.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Terrible Experience

Room was moldy and constantly damp. Bed was wet and there was cockroaches. (have videos). Couldn't get fresh towels daily as used ones NEVER dried. Had an male employee coming to our room trying to get us to give him money and acting very creepy. The rest of the staff was pleasant though. They would not change some of my money (large bills) as there was a slight slice (clean and unnoticeable) but did not hesitate to give me their torn paper money. The one good experience was the meals, though everyone I spoke to said it was terrible in CUBA. Never making that mistake again. I work too hard to be wasting my money.

Melia Varadero: Worst resort I have been to

The guy next door to us tried breaking in to my room drunk twice security did nothing. Another night the room next two us had a domestic dispute security refused to do anything. I couldn't get sleep. I booked a room with a king bed they pushed to twin beds together. My room sometimes would not get cleaned up. There is no server's around the pool to bring you drinks and the pool was dirty. The food on the resort was awful. Overall it was the worst experience I've had out of 10 trips

Paradisus Varadero: Disappointed

We paid to be upgraded to the family concierge section, but was very disappointed with the service. the buffet in the section was closed all week, forced us to shuttle to the main section for lunch and dinner every day. we often had to wait for a long time for the shuttle. 2 of us also got food poisoning. sunwing flight was delayed for both going and return flights! which was very challenging when traveling with an infant. this is our first time traveling with our baby and it was a very disappo [... read more]inting trip.

Blau Varadero: Charming resort.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Restaurants are clean and the food is good ad a lot of variety. Location is great by a beautiful section of the beach, and the staff providing lot of activities. At nights, we enjoyed the bars, the music and the shows. Front desk always helpful for any question or concern. We stayed on the eights floor on the sea side and the view was amazing. Overall we had a fantastic week at this hotel.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Great resort

Rooms okay; beds comfy. Sadly no bathroom door; we had a shower curtain on it but hey it didn’t ruin our holiday. Grounds in good condition- rarely saw a gardener on the grounds. No one was bugging us. A few unruly drunk guests (early twenties) Sand beautiful and pool was quite. Always found something to eat; I’d go back if the price was right.

Melia Las Americas: Awesome resort, awesome people

Great rooms, great restaurants, great beaches, great people. It was like a dream. The beach was right next to the resort which was convenient. Live entertainment in the lobby at 8:30, theme parties at 9:30, they all kept the atmosphere lively and made the overall experience quite enjoyable. They also went out of the way to make sure we had a comfortable stay (Make sure you tip. ❤️we loved the resort and beach and the workers food is Cuba but I really have to say that we still ate good the japenes restaurant was really good we always felt safe even when we left the resort... the only thing I would have to complain about is the rooms needs renovations and we had to chase for bottle wAter other than that everything was great ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇺❤️
