Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: OK-average resort.

This resort was a decent enough resort for the money we paid. It wasn't terrible but definitely could be better in some aspects. Check-in was definitely not quick and easy and the front desk staff always seemed to be overwhelmed. The bar staff were pretty good. The housekeeping staff were awesome, our room was spotless. We didn't go hungry but t [... read more]here is definitely no variety in the food. Lunch and dinner selections are exactly the same and it is the same all week. The omelettes are good in the morning and the personal pizzas for lunch and dinner are good too. The Ashley Cafe is a definite must. Good coffees and the two 'baristas' are wonderful people. We only went to the one a-la-carte restaurant (La Vega) and it was great. I would consider bringing extra beach towels with you as they seem to run out very quickly. The first two days we didn't have any beach towels and we met some people who weren't able to exchange their towels for 4 days. We were told that something happened to the laundry machines. The pools are very nice and the beach is excellent. Tip: there is a little restaurant on the public part of the beach that make excellent pizzas for about 6 pesos. There is a bank on the resort property so exchanging money is very easy. The flea market just outside the resort is quite handy for buying your typical souvenirs. The vendors change daily. All in all we had a decent time. It's all in what you make of it right? I would consider going back if it was a very good price.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Amazing resort, horrible room!

The resort was amazing, great and friendly people. The resort was clean, food was delicious, drinks were good but the downfall was the room. It was small, very old looking and feeling and the bed sucked! All in all though I had an amazing time with my husband!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Amazing people. Amazing service.

Simply beautiful! Relaxing! SPA is out of this world. People are exceptionally well trained, always with a smile on their faces and touch of humor in their comments. Loved every moment. Excellent enterteinment.

Brisas Covarrubias: Great getaway!

This is a great getaway for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the beautiful Cuban beach! If you are looking for shopping and nightlife try Varadero this is not for you. We were a little disappointed in the Senior Manager who choose to have his maintenance staff renovating empty rooms instead of performing their maintenance duties, example waited 3+ hours to get a toilet plunged while staff were moving furniture and mirrors from one empty room to another. Front desk staff were amazing at trying t [... read more]o resolve issues like this but are limited by the Managers discretion which is where the problem seems to be. running away while he leaves the front desk staff to respond to his poor decisions. All in all it was the best food we have ever had in Cuba bar none and we've been 7 times to other resorts. Did I mention the beautiful beach? That is where we were from 8 to 4 every day. You can walk and explore for ever just bring something to wear on your feet there are a couple rocky parts but it is mostly sandy beautiful beach. We went for 2 weeks for the first time ever and will likely go again for 2 weeks as long as the price is right. Hint: $ exchange rates are better at the resort then at the Airport. Enjoy!

Playa Costa Verde: Great Beach

It is a nice size ( max.1000 guests) the grounds were immaculate, the beach great with enough shade umbrellas for all who wanted them. the beach was shallow for a long distance (good for children ) They had a "kids show" and adult entertainment every night. We ate at the buffet most days and found the food varied and good. The wait staff were wonderful, spend time to get to know them. Our room was clean and we had no issues. The pool area was huge, and they had a lifeguard on duty.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Amazing resort

Has a fantastic time when i was there! been there 3times! Love the pool and swim up bar! Also the food was good the entertainment and service was also good. I also liked the fact that you can walk around the small cityThe locals were great! And got to see a lot of history as well. The beach was also nice

Brisas Guardalavaca: Beaches are amazing, Hotel is nice but food isn't

The beaches here are amazing and the hotel is a bit worn but overall clean and nice. The food, however is pretty poor, even by Cuban standards. Some of the recycled meals were definately past their prime and restaurants weren't a huge up-grade. But the people are lovely, the hotel is clean and nice and the beaches are truely one of the nicest. Just bring lots of snacks or eat out at the restaurant on the hill!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Stayed for 6 hrs then changed resorts!

We got to the hotel at 2am and were quickly checked in. We were brought to our rooms and we were absolutely shocked. Very dingy looking. The beds were concave, one worse than the other to the point you couldn't put them together! The ceiling was so low and dirty and you felt like you didn't want to touch anything! We asked to change rooms right away but apparently there were none available and were told to wait until the morning. We were in line to get burgers and the chef was grilling them in the same pile of oil, the burger meat looked a little grey. And all around us were a group of kids completely wasted and the snack bar was just a mess. The next morning, no rooms were available and we had seen enough. At 9am we asked our tour rep to switch hotels and by 1130 am we felt we were in the lap of luxury at the Blau and finally i felt at peace and could relax. There we had met 2 other couples who had also switched from Club Amigo! I went for price amd i realized than paying an extra $300 makes all the difference in the world! If you're going on vacation you have to make it worth it!

Brisas Guardalavaca: Great Resort

The experience as a whole was great. Nice grounds, good people on staff. Had some issues with the room but they were made good by the staff. The resort was able to more than handle and co ordinate my sister's wedding with 80 guests from the ceremony to the reception without a hitch.

Decent resort. Food is what you would expect for Cuba . Variety of restaurants is nice. Beach beautiful . A lot of Cubans vacationing there as well. Found that is was a big family type resort. Not much younger adults (20- 30) therefor not very much of a party resort. Pool bars were pretty quiet and lots of kids. Service was good. Villa rooms nice. However we did have a leak in our roof from the AC but when we notified the front they had someone come the same day to fix it so it wasn't a big deal [... read more].

We enjoyed the many different restaurants and food options that were available. The staff was always very pleasant and freindly. Location was lovely on the beach, the villas were perfect for our needs

Friendly staff, lots of good bars. Johnny at the swim up bar a particular favorite of ours. Can swim out to excellent snorkeling reefs within 100 yards of shore. Have stayed in both hotel rooms and villas but prefer the villas. Just a personal preference because its quieter at night. Overall a great value m

Amazing lobster meal, food was tastier than i thought it would be, Bartenders were wonderful especially junior and activities Dania and manwell were great.. Had a wonderful time playing cards with others from canada

The hotel was large but comfortable and we were quite satisfied with our room located just off the lobby on the first level. We thought this might be a problem as the hotel bar is there as well, but there was no problem as it usually quieted down before midnight. I did not find customer service as helpful as they could have been. On two occasions, I waited quite some time to even talk to someone and after they had, they waited on other customers who came to the desk after me. I got tired of waiting to be served and on one occasion an acquaintance who spoke Spanish went back to the desk with me, explained my request (in Spanish) and they looked after me immediately. There also was not a sufficient supply of beach towels and we waited three days before we were able to get ours. Otherwise the hotel/bar staff was friendly and helpful as was the lady who took care of our room. The beach is beautiful and we reserved our spots every morning. There were Catamarans and Paddle Boats for free on the beach. I absolutely loved the catamarans and we were out just about every day!! The pools were clean but COLD! As with most reviews I have read, the food was not great but this seems to be the consensus for most resorts in Cuba. There were two buffets to choose from plus two Al la carte options as well as a 24 hour grill available. The buffet in the main hotel was not very good but the other one in the Bungalows and entertainment area were much better. The all night grill was great for eating with hamburgers, sweet potato fries and pizza being served. One has to wonder why the buffets would be so different being in the same resort but they were. The Coffee & Piano Bar on the second floor was great for just relaxing and listening to the music or playing cards. This Coffee Bar had absolutely the BEST HOT CHOCOLATE I have ever had!! Nightly shows were very entertaining with musical groups and other shows going on every night in the entertainment area. They encouraged audience participation which is always a lot of fun so was very enjoyable. The water show was certainly spectacular and was very well done. The other guests were quite friendly and I met a few people from other areas of Canada. Also reunited with a lady who I met 5 years ago in Cuba the first time I travelled there! I have been to Cuba three times and I would have to say this is my best trip overall.

Playa Costa Verde: Great for kids

What a great resort with friendly staff, good pools, a beautiful beach and lots of extras like boat rental. Food in the buffet was excellent and ok at the snack bar. Best of all is how safe and peaceful it was for my children. Will definitely return.

Playa Pesquero: Very good

I and my wife was 2012 and we remember good beach ,service. Now Playa Pesquero surprise more better,food,room,,service.Very good kitchen (fresh vegetables,fruits) Much more sweet table, fish, meat.24 hours bar ,restaurant.We give 5 stars.

Brisas Covarrubias: Great value but not for everyone

This resort is 40 km from the nearest town and 2 hours from the airport. It has an amazing beach with a very small reef just offshore. We were there in the first week of January. The resort was full and often a bus or two of locals would arrive for the day. This produced long lines at the restaurant and bars. Patience was required. The resort has undergone some improvements (3rd time here) but more is required. Some lights on the walkways didn't work (regulars know to bring a flashlight), some r [... read more]ooms are still in need updating. The food could be better - but this is Cuba! You will find the most friendly and gracious staff here. This is not a place for those seeking nightlife and adventure but the price is usually right for a cheap week or two lazing on the beach - and many return year after year to do just that.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Our trip was amazing

When we first arrived we did find that the gardenview room was not ideal for our family and the front desk quickly provided us with the option of upgrading our room to the tropical room. She let us view it first so that we could decided. We liked it much better. The upgrade fee was only 36 CUC for the whole week!. We tipped the staff for their great service, but that's totally optional. We also took the cruise/snorkeling/dolphin excursion and it was amazing! The crew on the catamaran and the trainers at the dolphin marina were all incredibly friendly and helpful. It was an experience of a lifetime!

Playa Pesquero: Fantastic

8 of us went to Playa Pesquero the week before Christmas it was my first time to cuba and I was so impressesd from the staff to the a la cartes to the awesome coffee bar in the lobby. I would really recommend this resort I wish I was back there now. Hope to go back some day soon . our maud Betsy was the best!!!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: The resort was the best!

The grounds were some of the best I have ever seen...but why can't they have good food? The people were the best, the beach was wonderful and there was always something to do. The market next to the resort was fantastic! Cuba is so nice but I can't understand why they can't do something about the food.
